This was my third visit to Itoshima, the first in two years. Last time, after heavy rain the day before, it suddenly turned into a midsummer day, and the breathtaking sunset—changing moment by moment against the vast ocean—was truly moving. I enjoyed delicious food and the relaxed pace that only an all-inclusive stay can offer. This time had a different atmosphere and some changes. Arriving in a downpour with luggage, I climbed the stone steps to check in. What surprised me right away was “10:00 checkout”! I never expected it to be an hour earlier—maybe a pitfall of being a repeat guest? I was told it was changed because lunch service starts at 11:00 with reservations… but 10:00 still feels far too early. Since we spend about four hours round trip for an overnight stay, we want to relax as much as possible. If possible, I hope you will consider setting check-in to 16:00 and returning checkout to 11:00—I would be glad if this request from repeat guests reaches you. This time we dined while watching the post-rain evening scenery, and the food was just as delicious as ever—I was very satisfied. The soup course in particular had wonderful Japanese dashi flavor and was deeply comforting, and the tempura made from fresh squid (prepared after sashimi) was especially appreciated; as someone who loves cooking at home, having a professional fry dishes is a real treat. It was also disappointing not to see any of the staff members from previous visits. The photo shows “Itoshima Bay—an evening view after the rain.”

I have no complaints about any of the points mentioned in the review categories. I truly had a wonderful holiday. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be access to the main tourist spots, but that distance is also what creates the special, out-of-the-ordinary feel—so it’s not really a complaint. The Room was beautifully designed for relaxing, and I was able to spend my time there in complete comfort. All of the staff were genuinely pleasant and welcoming, and I enjoyed my stay very much. Above all, the free-flowing Onsen bath in the Room was outstanding. I love soaking in an Onsen, so it was incredibly relaxing. With traditional Accommodations like this, I often worry about the internet connection, but this time it was very stable. I could use streaming services without any issues. Since this was a Multiple Night Stay, they thoughtfully arranged things so that some menu items wouldn’t overlap. Of course, everything was delicious. The Arita-yaki tableware was also beautiful. It’s not somewhere I can visit often, but I would definitely like to stay here again when I next visit Fukuoka.

I stayed here on the first day of my Onsen tour in Saga Prefecture. Everything was perfect, including the baths and the meals. The bath water was unbelievably silky and milky white—an experience I’ve never had before. The food was delicious, as you’d expect from a property that also runs a Japanese restaurant! Next time, I’d like to book a Multiple Night Stay. It’s expensive at 100,000 yen per night for one person, though.

Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. We felt even more relaxed than at a relative’s home in the countryside and enjoyed spring in the satoyama. We thoroughly enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and the Goemon-style bath as well. We’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

This was my first time staying with SANU! Karuizawa 1st is a quiet place surrounded by nature, and from the moment I arrived, the crisp, clear air immediately put me at ease. The Room is spacious and relaxing, with plenty of natural light through the large windows and beautiful views outside. Time felt like it slowed down, and I was able to forget the busyness of everyday life and truly recharge. I relaxed so much that I didn’t even make time for a campfire, so I’d love to come back again... haha

The building, Room interiors, and furnishings are all exceptional. It was an unparalleled experience to touch and admire artistic plates and pitchers while enjoying a drink, as if viewing them through glass. The price is indeed in the high range, but it was absolutely worth it. The cuisine was also outstanding. The staff's deep knowledge of art and philosophy was truly inspiring and educational. Although I just returned, I already feel like visiting again. The Facility, including its location, is excellent. Highly recommended for those who love folk crafts. Thank you very much!

Staying at a ryokan located within a temple's grounds was a first for me, and I was quite excited. The facility is old, but the bath was newly renovated and very comfortable to use. Above all, the meals were delicious. The variety of dishes, even though it was traditional vegetarian cuisine, never felt monotonous. It was truly wonderful. If it were closer, I would love to visit again just for the meals. Such a delightful accommodation.

I love traditional Japanese houses and had been looking forward to this stay for a long time, and it turned out to be an outstanding Accommodation that far exceeded my expectations. As soon as we arrived, the hostess warmly welcomed us and carefully explained every detail of the property, which made me happy from the very start. The view from the Room—overlooking the Kamo River and pine trees—was truly charming, and I felt deeply relaxed, losing track of time. Each dish was delicious, one after another, and it was a constant delight. The location was also very convenient, so we were able to spend our time in complete comfort without any inconvenience. This has become my favorite Accommodation, and I will definitely stay again. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

This Accommodation is in a very quiet location surrounded by nature, perfect for a relaxing stay. We made a Reservation for a dog-friendly Room, and it was wonderful to spend time in nature with our dog without any worries. The sauna is private, so you can enjoy it as many times as you like at any time. The outdoor relaxation and cold plunge in the forest air felt amazing. Check-in was self-service. After you complete guest registration via the URL sent by email in advance, you will be able to check your Room number and check-in code. Next time, we’d love to come back for a Multiple Night Stay and enjoy some unhurried time with our dog!

This was a wonderful accommodation that provided comfort and peace of mind in every aspect, including the room, meals, and service. The owner's excellent taste was evident in the facilities, furnishings, and even the smallest details like utensils. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, making for an exceptionally pleasant stay. The amenities and decor were well-balanced—neither excessive nor lacking—showing careful consideration in their preparation. It is a place I hope will continue to thrive for years to come. Above all, the staff member who assisted us (perhaps the owner's wife?) was incredibly kind and helpful. As we were looking for antique Imari ware or Kutani porcelain in Kanazawa, she went out of her way to research and provide us with detailed information, which we greatly appreciated. Breakfast was also outstanding; it featured beautifully presented dishes on Kanazawa-style tableware with exceptional hospitality. The tofu prepared from the night before was particularly delicious. In an era where some accommodations focus solely on appearances while lacking genuine service quality, this is a refined accommodation designed for adults seeking a high-quality space to relax. Although it is small in scale and does not offer dinner service, I hope it will be cherished by those who understand its unique charm so that it may continue for many years to come. We would love to visit again someday! (Since there was no dinner service at this accommodation, we enjoyed an excellent meal at Kanazawa Gyokusentei about 5 minutes away by taxi.)

I traveled to Nagasaki for a Golden Week getaway. Away from everyday life, I was able to fully enjoy a quiet, restorative retreat. The hospitality was truly exceptional—there was nothing to fault. The food was also outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the ingredients from Hirado, and every dish was delicious. It was my first time trying a morning sauna, and I could relax while watching the ever-changing sea view. At checkout, they even prepared drinks for our car ride home. It was my first time experiencing that kind of thoughtfulness, and I was genuinely moved. This Accommodation exceeded my expectations in every way, and I’d love to stay again.

Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. There are no nearby houses, and although we had heard that muntjac sometimes damage the fields, we enjoyed a salad made with freshly picked lettuce and herbs from those very fields. I was hoping to see a muntjac. The bamboo grove behind the property was beautiful.

When visiting Hida Takayama, be sure to stay at Sumiya Hagakure! Enjoy a relaxing and private time with our whole-house rental. The old streets of Takayama are within walking distance, making the location perfect. The breakfast rice balls were also delicious. This is an accommodation you'll definitely want to revisit!

This was our second stay, and we visited as a couple. Once again we stayed in the WEST building (my favorite, with a stone sauna). It’s a private villa-style Accommodation with high walls, so you can relax without worrying about the surroundings. When we opened the door, even the long hallway was nicely heated and warm, and the living room was cozy too. And this time there were complimentary drinks in the fridge—Pocari Sweat, mineral water, Perrier, and more—which was a lovely added service! The new cold plunge pool had been filled with hot water this time, so we could soak slowly as if it were an open-air bath—it felt amazing. Part of it is deep enough to submerge up to your neck, so you do need to be careful, but it was a bath experience you don’t often find elsewhere. And another major new addition—the cave-like sauna we’d been looking forward to—lets you lie down inside; my sauna-loving husband was thrilled and said the tea löyly aroma was wonderful. This time we also booked an on-site private chef for the first time. Dinner started with appetizers and soup, followed by sea bream with perfectly crisped skin served with an orange butter sauce; the wagyu came with nori and a red wine sauce—everything tasted incredible. The strawberry mille-feuille dessert and fromage blanc ice cream were outstanding!! We were completely satisfied being able to savor such a luxurious course at our own pace. Breakfast was also very filling: a generously stuffed sandwich, two kinds of quiche, plus strawberries and yogurt—an excellent professional-quality meal that we fully enjoyed. Everything was delicious. We were also impressed by how gently the chef explained each dish (almost like whispering) and how smoothly everything came together. The stylish black-themed space and interior are wonderful every time we visit. The latest Facilities and high-end appliances can take some getting used to if you don’t read the manuals carefully, but everything—from tableware to decor—is tasteful, making it easy to spend special time comfortably at your own pace. Just one thing: I mistakenly thought the chef would arrive at 16:00; in reality they arrived at 17:30 and dinner started at 18:30. I regret not confirming in advance—I might have been able to enjoy my beloved stone sauna a bit more while waiting. Highly recommended for anyone who loves saunas or stone saunas—and for those who want a special dining experience in an extraordinary setting! We stayed last time at the end of summer and had great fun using the pool at night too, so we’d love to come again in summer.

It was another comfortable stay. We apologize for the trouble caused by my friend’s forgotten item, and we truly appreciate your kind and attentive support. The breakfast we were looking forward to was exactly as expected—both the fresh juice and the rice were delicious. We enjoyed a hearty meal with an extra serving of rice before heading out sightseeing. We also appreciated the quiet atmosphere, as well as the lounge in the evening and the coffee service in the morning. In Kyoto we end up walking a lot, so it was wonderful to relax in the spacious bathtub to ease our tiredness, then unwind and chat in the lounge. This is a Hotel in Gion with great access for getting around on foot. We will visit again.

Both the town and the Accommodation were pleasantly quiet. Rather than a place to “enjoy the Accommodation,” it felt like a place where, through your stay, you become part of Nara. If you’re looking for an Accommodation for sightseeing in Nara, the location is convenient, so I’d like to stay here again next time. There’s nothing particularly notable about the amenities, but there was neither shortage nor excess, which I think is good.

The interior facilities and amenities were excellent. The Room had a stylish Western feel, and I would like to stay again. The bed was very soft, and I slept comfortably. A short drive away there are many shops, and the nearby shops listed in the Hotel guide were easy to understand.

We used this Hotel as a base for a family trip around Shimane and Tottori. What impressed us most was the design philosophy that permeates the entire space and the superbly curated displays. While making full use of the commanding presence of this historic building, Tottori folk crafts and furnishings were meticulously arranged so their materials and textures resonate with one another. Rather than simply lining up individual masterpieces, it is rare to find a space where a classic architectural structure and contemporary craftsmanship share context so beautifully and are integrated so seamlessly. The cuisine course we enjoyed at dinner was also stunning, allowing us to fully appreciate the appeal of local ingredients. We stayed with children, and thanks to your offering a half-course for them, our whole family was able to relax and enjoy a high-quality dining experience together. We truly appreciate your thoughtful hospitality. In winter, we would love to return to try your famous hot pot as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
