An Onsen-loving couple. We found it on the day and made a last-minute Reservation. A detached Room with a private indoor bath and an open-air bath (of course, both are Onsen). At first, the main building looked like it had been renovated… and the detached building, with its golden torii gate, felt a bit questionable… so we hesitated. But that first impression was completely wrong. We thought the Hotel staff might be from overseas, but they were pleasant and gave clear explanations—friendly and kind. The detached Room had everything we needed—nothing to complain about. It’s No Meals Included, but delivery is OK and there’s a microwave. We considered going out to eat, but since we wanted to soak in the Onsen many times and relax, we bought locally caught sashimi and sushi at a nearby supermarket and ate in our Room. Without worrying about anyone else, we went into the Onsen again and again—back and forth between the indoor bath and the open-air bath… I’ve lost count of how many times. The fridge has separate freezer/refrigerator compartments, so we could even buy ice cream and store it. The free Onsen-boiled eggs were great—we had several—and they were really delicious. Plates and chopsticks for meals were also provided. You can adjust the water temperature to your liking, and the Room size was more than enough for two. Some Reviews mentioned that the Room was dark or that there were no loungewear/pajamas, but it wasn’t dark at all—and loungewear is provided. If I had to mention one thing… the open-air bath wall is wood, but some areas have peeling color or slight rot. I understand it can’t be helped due to Onsen minerals, but if maintenance reached every detail it would be perfect. That said, they do maintain it regularly; maybe this happens quickly because of the mineral content… so it’s within an acceptable range. We loved everything about our stay. We’ll be back.

We stayed here for my partner’s birthday trip. Surrounded by nature in a quiet setting, we were able to step away from everyday life and spend a truly wonderful time. The room was very clean, and the Facility and amenities were well equipped, so we stayed comfortably without any inconvenience throughout our stay. The size was just right, and it felt like a very cozy space for two adults. The sauna is electric, so even someone like me who isn’t used to wood-fired saunas could enjoy it easily—and it still felt authentic, which was more than satisfying. Before our stay, they also shared helpful information such as the destination (Google Maps), what to bring, and recommended nearby places, which we really appreciated. Next time, we’d love to stay for multiple nights!

While preserving the traditional machiya atmosphere overall, the Accommodation has been thoughtfully renovated with a focus on key areas such as the bathroom and kitchen—spacious, spotless, and highly practical. It was a comfortable space with an excellent sense of balance. Unlike a typical Hotel stay, it offered an experience that blends into the neighborhood, and I felt as if I were spending my very first day after moving in. There are many lighting fixtures, and being able to fine-tune them to suit different situations was very convenient. The complimentary local drinks—such as roasted green tea and cider—were a delightful touch that added to the travel mood. Everything from the teapot and cups to the tray and even the hair dryer had a refined design that was pleasing to look at. It was a wonderful Room combining quality with functionality. Under normal circumstances this would unquestionably be a 5-star stay, but this time I am rating it 3 stars. The guests upstairs ran around for minutes at night and again the next morning like shuttle runs, even falling loudly at times. It was noise at a level that would feel excessive even in an ordinary Hotel—and all the more so in a machiya-style place like Komado. Even if our floors were reversed and I were staying upstairs, it would still have carried through. It was extremely difficult to endure. I wanted to raise this through staff, but neither the main phone line nor the emergency contact number could be reached around 7:30 p.m. I believe this Accommodation’s core appeal is its high-quality feel that blends seamlessly into everyday life in town, so it was deeply disappointing that such noise is fundamentally incompatible with that experience. That said, if you are not paired with guests like we had this time, it will surely be an outstanding stay without complaint. Being able to look out onto the courtyard was also fantastic; it is illuminated at night and offers scenery different from daytime—I never got tired of it!

We ended up staying an extra two nights after the Nagaoka Fireworks. The location is very convenient for street food in Teradomari, fishing at the fishing port, and nearby beaches. The Facility itself is new and clean. The parking instructions were a bit hard to understand, but there is also parking in front of the Facility, and it seems fine to park there. The bath is not an Onsen, but if you look around, there are plenty of hot springs nearby. Highly recommended for international guests as well. We would love to stay again!

We stayed here with three generations to celebrate my mother's birthday. We were able to spend a luxurious and relaxing time. The staff at the accommodation were wonderful and very considerate, thank you so much. With cats around, it was the perfect accommodation for us cat lovers.

Recommended by a gourmet friend, I stayed at this accommodation. Having lived in Eastern Hokkaido before, I had visited the surrounding area often but was not very familiar with Lake Kussharo. Curious about the place, I decided to visit and was immediately impressed by the stunning mountain views from the lodge. The rare snowfall for this region added to its charm this year. The experience of checking in via canoe or snowshoe from Lake Kussharo was truly memorable. The accommodation building featured facilities such as a sauna, cold bath, and barrel bath. It was delightful to cool off while enjoying the snowy scenery after using the sauna. For the first time, I also experienced tending a fireplace with firewood, which allowed me to spend mindful and relaxing moments. The meals were Chinese-inspired cuisine and absolutely delicious! The chef skillfully prepared luxurious ingredients like abalone and shark fin for an unforgettable dining experience. Thank you for kindly preparing additional mapo tofu as well—it was fantastic! Breakfast was equally exceptional. While having dinner, it started snowing outside; we appreciated how staff thoughtfully cleared snow just before we returned to our room in the accommodation building. Although it would be nice if improvements could be made regarding some minor points—such as whether or not the baths are onsen or addressing slight odors in rooms with toilets and showers—the overall experience far outweighed these small concerns. It left such an impression that I ended up making a summer reservation before leaving! This place is truly remarkable—I look forward to visiting again during another season for more unique experiences. Thank you so much for providing such precious memories!

This was my third visit to Ojika. Despite being easily accessible by ferry from Hakata Port, the island offers a relaxing pace and private atmosphere unique to island life, making it a regular destination for me. This time, I stayed at an accommodation that is a historic former merchant house available for private rental. With no meals included, I could enjoy my stay without worrying about time constraints, feeling as if I were in my own vacation home and truly relaxing. The luxurious hinoki cypress bath was particularly delightful with its soothing aroma, melting away all travel fatigue. The building retains the charm of a traditional Japanese house while featuring modern facilities for ultimate comfort. The spacious garden adds to the serene ambiance that helps you forget the hustle and bustle of city life, and the location offers stunning views of the sunrise in the morning—simply perfect! Additionally, its proximity to the port is convenient, and there are charming local cafes and breakfast spots nearby where you can leisurely explore and savor island time at your own pace.

We stayed at the Accommodation on the last day of our trip to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Arriving with excitement after being picked up in a luxury car, we were warmly welcomed by the smiling staff. When we entered our Room, we were delighted by the beautiful interior, a teepee and treats for our dog, and thoughtful hospitality such as chilled champagne and wonderful sweets—our dog was just as excited as we were. They also kindly accommodated our request to take a pre-dinner stroll together with our dog, which became a truly memorable experience. Dinner at the restaurant was outstanding, of course, but we were especially touched by an unexpected surprise after the meal. It became a very happy anniversary. Thank you for your heartfelt hospitality. It was a wonderful Hotel where each member of the staff worked with energy and pride.

This villa offers an incredible and luxurious space that is hard to believe exists in Japan. The rooms and amenities are of the highest quality, allowing you to enjoy a completely comfortable and indulgent stay. The service is exceptional, with the manager providing attentive guidance and promptly addressing any requests with great care. The bath and sauna are truly special. With features like a standing cold plunge pool and a meticulously designed relaxation room, you can experience ultimate relaxation—just be careful not to fall asleep! The facilities exude elegance, immersing you in an extraordinary atmosphere that feels otherworldly. Meals feature local ingredients from Wakayama, carefully selected daily from the market by the head chef who prepares them artistically and serves them on stylish tableware. The evening course was absolutely delicious and left us completely satisfied, while breakfast was equally delightful as we enjoyed it overlooking the seaside—a truly luxurious experience. It was a thoroughly satisfying trip—thank you very much!

The staff's sense of distance in customer service was exquisite. Their unobtrusive yet thorough explanations and arrangements are truly impressive. I understand why it's difficult to make a Reservation due to its popularity. I would love to visit again.

The travel schedule was postponed, leading to a need to rebook the hotel. By chance, we chose this place and it turned into a wonderful experience. The service was attentive, and every staff member greeted us with a smile throughout our stay. We also booked dinner here—what a surprise! The restaurant's reviews were so good that it felt like hitting the jackpot. Before dining, we were taken to the kitchen for an introduction to the day's ingredients. During meals, each group has their own private space without worrying about being disturbed by others (this applies to both breakfast and dinner). Unfortunately, due to language barriers (poor English and no Japanese), we missed out on opportunities for an even better experience. As expected with older buildings, soundproofing could be improved; activities upstairs caused some noise from above. The bathroom had only partial bamboo screens around the bath area—it felt slightly exposed as gaps allowed views of neighboring spaces... Overall though, it was an amazing experience! Next time, I’d love to try staying in a second-floor room if possible!

It was a wonderfully relaxing space where we could truly unwind at a leisurely pace. The food was also delicious, and it was a time when we could fully experience Okinawa’s nature. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

In late autumn in Niseko, I experienced an unparalleled luxurious time at a hospitality-filled hotel nestled among beautifully yellow-tinted mountains. The kind staff, fascinating artworks, and delicious cuisine were all one-of-a-kind, creating the perfect accommodation designed for enjoying peaceful moments. During a morning walk, I had the chance to meet Mr. Grick, and just before check-out, a Long-tailed Tit appeared by the window—these lucky encounters made my stay unforgettable and turned this place into one I am truly glad to have visited. It is an exceptional accommodation that I would love to visit again.

I thought this was a very clean Accommodation with a great selection of dog-friendly items, and I would recommend it to dog lovers. I’d like to stay here again the next time I visit Kyoto. Overall, I’m satisfied, but if I mention a few things that were missing: Most of what you need for cooking in the Room is provided, but if guests want to cook hot pot in the Room, it would be helpful to have a portable gas stove (or an IH portable cooktop if open flames are not allowed for safety reasons) and a clay pot. Also, there were no donburi bowls for eating udon, ramen, or soba, so I’d like you to add those as well. Also, among the amenities, I would like bath salts.

We stayed here with a large group in January. First of all, the traditional kura-style building is truly one of a kind. It has been beautifully renovated to suit modern needs while preserving the charm of classic Japanese architecture. It’s even more impressive in person than in photos, and you can really enjoy the building itself—perfect for anyone who loves architecture. The living room feels incredibly open, and even with a big group it never felt cramped. The kitchen was surprisingly spacious, and it was stocked with more than enough cookware and appliances. There was also a great variety of tableware, all stylish, which made cooking even more enjoyable. The dishwasher in particular was large and high-performance, making cleanup easy even for a big group. There are multiple bedrooms as well, so everyone can rest comfortably. This Accommodation is ideal for the purpose of “staying together as a large group and relaxing.” Overall it’s very spacious, so we could spend time there without feeling self-conscious. We only ordered breakfast, but it was simple Japanese food and very delicious. For lunch and dinner we arranged our own meals—buying ingredients at nearby supermarkets (Tsuruya and AEON are conveniently close) and cooking ourselves—and that became part of the fun of the stay. With such well-equipped facilities, this place is especially recommended for those who enjoy cooking. Even though it was cold around New Year’s, the inside was warm and comfortable. The separate hinoki bathhouse was amazing; you heat the indoor bath yourself, but the scent of hinoki wood and the atmosphere were truly relaxing. There is also another bath in the main house (with a modern tub), which you can use as well—and we appreciated the thoughtful touch of underfloor heating in the changing area there. We were highly satisfied with everything—the space, facilities, and overall atmosphere—and would love to visit again in a different season.

I previously stayed at the auberge run by Fukuchiyo Shuzo, and when I learned they had another concept Accommodation, I chose this one for my visit. Having the entire building to ourselves was great—we could relax without worrying about staff. The kaiseki dinner was also delicious. The stay included a brewery tour, and the president’s talk was fascinating. As a sake lover, it was a truly valuable experience. Thank you very much. *One small point: there is a gap in the door separating the bathroom and changing area, so water from the shower soaked the changing area. It might help to seal it with rubber or something similar.*

We stayed during Golden Week. Even though all the other Rooms were fully booked, we could hardly hear any noise from nearby, and we were able to spend a peaceful time surrounded by the quiet forest. Perhaps it was a season with very few insects, as they didn’t bother us at all, and the Facility was clean and very comfortable. Even the shampoo in the bath had a forest-like scent, and we felt that every detail had been thoughtfully considered. Thank you very much. After reading through all of the Room booklet again, I realized that shared Facilities such as the washing machine were located elsewhere, and I wasn’t sure how to clean up properly after using the campfire. It would be reassuring if you could add a short note on the red paper that was originally inside the fire pit grill saying that cleanup instructions are written in the booklet. Also, since it seemed to assume everything should be returned to its original state, I wasn’t sure how far we needed to go in putting things back—such as dishcloths or used towels. It would feel even more reassuring if there were a note like: “Please place used cloths and towels in the laundry basket.” We would love to stay again. We made wonderful memories with our family.

I stayed for one night from April 15. It was conveniently located right near the bus stop, making it easy to get around. The Room was very clean and comfortable! The owner was very kind and gave me helpful bus information, as well as recommendations for a bakery and a Japanese sweets shop. It made my trip very enjoyable. Thank you very much.
