Despite our late arrival, the couple welcomed us with warm smiles. They kindly kept me company even though I eat slowly, and when I mentioned that I wouldn’t have much time the next morning, they prepared breakfast as early as possible. It was also adorable to see their 94-year-old grandfather pointing into the refrigerator to check and choose the ingredients.

Overall, I was quite satisfied. However, I was surprised that the Room did not have a key and there were no lockers in the bathroom for valuables, but it wasn't much of an issue since the staff could keep them for me upon request. I also tried shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) for the first time, and it was great—especially the sesame tofu. I would like to stay again during an event such as the light-up season of Hagurosan Five-Story Pagoda.

Stayed at the accommodation after a long time. The quality of the room, the garden view from the window—everything was truly wonderful. The location is also excellent. Additionally, it felt like the service has improved significantly compared to before. I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. I was delighted to receive a stollen for Christmas as well. Just two stops from Kyoto Station and only a short walk from the nearest station, with excellent access. The bus stop is almost right in front, making it easy to reach major sightseeing spots. There are also convenient nearby options for a quick bite, such as Maison Kayser, Starbucks, and ramen shops. The Hotel felt like a private apartment unit, with a spacious living room, a large TV, plus a kitchen and even a washing machine. The bath was on the balcony and was spacious enough for two adults to sit side by side comfortably. There was also a sofa next to it for relaxing—when the breeze comes through, it’s especially pleasant. The staff were very courteous and attentive. I would love to stay again.

A wonderful Accommodation has opened right in front of the World Heritage site Ninna-ji Temple. From before we even entered, the staff welcomed us warmly, guided us to our Room, and provided very attentive explanations. It felt like the highest level of hospitality—like staying at a luxury Ryokan from the Showa era. The Room features exquisite Nishijin-ori textiles throughout, adding a refined Kyoto touch in many places. The entire building is tatami-floored, which felt great underfoot, and since it is newly built, the fresh scent was very pleasant. In the lounge, you can relax quietly while looking out at Ninna-ji Temple. Dinner was served in a private room, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal made with seasonal ingredients—clearly prepared with great care by the chef. To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we were treated to a special cocktail. It paired well with the food and was delicious. The bath was excellent as expected, and it was always kept impeccably clean no matter when we went in, making it very comfortable to use. This Accommodation was outstanding in every way—I can’t write enough about it. Since children are not allowed to stay here, it’s perfect when you want peaceful time for adults only. Thank you to all the staff for your heartfelt hospitality. We’ve found another favorite Accommodation.

The check-in location is a few minutes' walk from Kyoto Station, and we were provided with a free Shuttle Service to the townhouse. The amenities were well-stocked, and we could choose additional items next to the reception. The reception staff were very kind and responded graciously even when we contacted them late at night. There is a convenience store within walking distance, and check-out can be done on the spot, making our stay very comfortable. Thank you very much.

In the heart of Higashi Chaya District, this Accommodation lets you stay as if living in a Kanazawa machiya townhouse, and it remains one of the most memorable Hotels I have ever stayed in. As soon as you step inside, the gentle scent of wood fills the air and naturally calms you. While preserving the charm of an old machiya, the interior has been refined into a modern, sophisticated space, and my stay was comfortable from start to finish. The passage garden leading from the entrance to the living room reinterprets a traditional machiya layout as a contemporary art gallery, creating a distinctive atmosphere from the moment you arrive. With part of one living-room wall opened up, it retains that classic machiya serenity while adding just the right sense of openness. On the first floor, warmth from natural wood is balanced beautifully with a palette of brown, white, cream, and black. Everything—from pendant lights to furniture and small details—has been carefully chosen for a cohesive look that shows great taste down to every corner. The table in particular stood out: its texture evoked Noto washi paper and kurikawa-zome (chestnut husk dyeing), and it felt like local culture and craftsmanship were seamlessly woven into the space. The bath and wash area are modern and spotless in crisp black-and-white tones, and even the scent of Aesop hand soap and bath amenities was wonderfully soothing. Upstairs retains even more of the original wooden character of a machiya, offering a different kind of quiet calm. The bedroom lighting—soft like moonlight—was especially memorable and perfectly suited to the mood. Another unique highlight is being able to whisk matcha in your room. The tea kettle, bowls, and other tools are thoughtfully selected; using vessels that reflect Kanazawa- and Noto-area traditional crafts made preparing matcha yourself feel truly special. With clear instructions provided, it’s easy to enjoy even for first-timers. Unlike having tea at a tourist spot, making matcha in this quiet machiya setting felt deeply relaxing. Open the windows and you can sense both the stillness of this teahouse district and hints of local daily life beyond it. Rather than simply visiting as a tourist, being able to blend into the neighborhood is an experience that’s hard to find at an ordinary Hotel. Breakfast was at Miso Soup Club just a short walk away; I enjoyed a nourishing Japanese breakfast with hearty miso soup packed with ingredients along with egg over rice (tamago kake gohan) and small side dishes. This is an Accommodation I would highly recommend for anyone who wants to savor Kanazawa’s culture, craftsmanship—and unhurried quiet time—with care.

This was my fourth stay, and I stayed in the East Wing again this time.\nNot only the Facility, but also the temple was beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean, making my stay very comfortable.\nI will visit again, and I look forward to seeing you.

The best part was the bath. It was clean, hygienic, and warmed me to the core. Was it an onsen? Natural spring water? It didn’t feel like ordinary water. Also, the food was excellent. The tableware was beautiful. I stayed with my elderly mother, and the staff kindly assisted us during the morning service. I’ve stayed at many accommodations before, but I truly loved this one. This time it was a family trip, but next time I’d like to invite friends from other prefectures and visit again!

We stayed as a family. The location was very convenient, the surroundings were quiet, and there were all the essential household items we needed, so we could always enjoy warm meals. Everyone in our family had their privacy, and we were able to stay comfortably and stress-free, as if we were living there. Thank you very much!

We stayed at the Hotel in late November during the peak of autumn foliage with our dog. The interior was charming, featuring antique furniture, beautiful paintings on the walls, chandeliers on the ceiling, and dried flowers in the washroom and restroom. The bedroom had two king-sized beds and fluffy futons for humans, while our dog enjoyed a True Sleeper bed. The living room had underfloor heating and was impeccably clean. The café on the first floor was beautifully furnished with exquisite tableware, and a Bechstein grand piano casually placed added an elegant touch. Although we didn’t have a chance to try the café menu this time, everything looked deliciously well-prepared—we’d love to try it next time! With its convenient location within walking distance of Heian Shrine and Okazaki Park, as well as parking available for guests with dogs, it’s perfect for pet owners. Plus, their adorable mascot dog Mon-chan is delightful! This is truly a Hotel that makes you want to come back again!

I’m glad I chose the best course where I could enjoy something like a tilefish bouillabaisse. The next day, I had scorpionfish at another restaurant, so it was truly wonderful to experience the delicate flavor of tilefish that I hadn’t known before. I look forward to enjoying the kama bath even more next time!

I can’t say enough good things about Ishibekoji Ryugin. Check-in was seamless with the keypad, communication was excellent, and the property was outstanding. We stayed in the first-floor one-bedroom unit and couldn’t have been happier. There was plenty of space, with a separate dining area, living room, and tea area overlooking the garden and Ishibekoji Road. The kitchen was well equipped, and having a fridge and stovetop was a great touch. The bathroom was spacious, with a good-sized shower and a large jetted tub. Overall, the property was in excellent condition and very well presented. And most importantly: the location makes this ryokan a true bucket-list stay. It’s on a calm, private street tucked away from Kyoto’s bustle, yet just a short walk to shopping and several shrines—and only about a minute from taxi pickup. We loved exploring nearby places to eat and drink. I’ve already recommended it to multiple friends and would definitely stay again. Thank you so much!

My First Visit to Yufuin Thanks to Hinoharu Ryokan, it turned out to be a wonderful trip. Although it's located slightly away from the bustling Yunotsubo Street, the area is very quiet and full of charm. The Onsen had just the right temperature, with stones laid on the floor, making it very pleasant. The breakfast was also delicious. It has become a place I want to visit again.

It was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. I ordered the eel set meal, and every dish—from the appetizer to the final course—was delicious and exceeded my expectations. The daily set meal was also outstanding, with each dish prepared personally by the chef. The quality rivaled Michelin-starred restaurants, and even the tableware showed great taste.

"Kama Jin Villa" is a long-established restaurant, but the accommodation just opened last year. The room we stayed in was built using materials exclusively from Fukui Prefecture. Starting with the entrance's paving stones made of rare blue-green Shakudani stone, the floor frame crafted from fine wood, a simple yet elegant tokobashira (alcove post) that incorporates natural knots, and beautifully grained wood used throughout, you can feel the beauty of traditional Japanese architecture. The wallpaper, sliding doors, and light shades appear to be made of Echizen Washi paper. If you're knowledgeable about Japanese architecture, you'll likely notice craftsmanship details everywhere. On the other hand, the living room with wooden flooring features antique furniture and Echizen-yaki cups for a mix of Japanese and Western styles that surprisingly harmonize to create a cozy space. The bathroom area combines elements of traditional Japanese design with a stylish modern atmosphere. Meals were served in "Kiku-no-Ma," which is also used as part of their restaurant facilities. Dinner included luxurious dishes such as beautifully presented appetizers (hassun), hamo fish soup with grilled eggplant, sashimi platters, Wakasa beef steak, steamed kinmedai fish wrapped in yuba skin, steamed eel and sticky rice wrapped in magnolia leaves—each dish deliciously prepared using premium ingredients. Breakfast featured historical and traditional items like pickled red taro stems (Suko), simmered herring once transported by Kitamaebune ships during Edo times, and local specialty takuan pickles cooked luxuriously—a menu rich in history and tradition. Suko is one item recreated under Kama Jin Villa’s supervision as part of "Murasaki Kibu Gozen," an ancient Heian aristocratic meal displayed at Murasaki Yukari no Yakata Museum. While meals were delightful overall—flavors tended to be slightly strong with generous portions—which might raise concerns about total salt intake for some guests; offering lighter-flavored or smaller portion options could appeal more to seniors or women (though I did finish everything). There are no onsen facilities here nor particularly scenic views due to its location within town; however nearby attractions include Tansu-machi Street lined with Echizen chest furniture shops; Soja Daijingu Shrine enshrining all deities from across Echizen Province; retro-styled Takefu Public Hall Memorial Museum; further afield lies Murasaki Shikibu Park featuring Heian-style gardens overlooking Mt.Hino along nostalgic Furusato walking paths—all offering opportunities for exploring Takefu’s rich history while strolling around leisurely. Despite hot weather during our stay—we appreciated thoughtful hospitality extended by staff members who provided attentive yet friendly service making us feel comfortable throughout our visit at this historic establishment turned accommodation facility. Understanding its unique characteristics allows guests seeking serene relaxation amidst exquisite Japanese architectural spaces paired alongside indulgent culinary experiences truly enjoy their time spent here!

A beautiful Hotel comprising a former Russian Consulate built over 100 years ago and, behind it, a newly constructed wellness wing designed by Makoto Nakayama. The staff kindly explained the building’s history and the vision behind its renovation into a Hotel, which made my stay even more meaningful. The Japanese elm towering in the garden that connects the old and new wings truly felt like a sacred tree, drawing the grounds into a serene world completely separate from everyday life. At the beautifully designed bar, I enjoyed Akkeshi oysters and a vodka cocktail. In the evening, I had sushi at Sushi-dokoro Funami inside the Hotel. The sushi and appetizers prepared by the head chef—who trained at Hakodate’s renowned Kihara—were outstanding; everything was fresh, high-quality, and delicious. Conversation with the chef and staff was also enjoyable, making for an unforgettable time. This time I stayed in a Room in the wellness wing. The view of Hakodate Port was wonderful, and even glimpses of blue sky from the courtyard were soothing. The Room also had a jacuzzi and sauna, allowing me to spend truly fulfilling time there. Breakfast featuring plenty of local ingredients was delicious as well. A book-shaped bread was served, and since I had been told in advance that this Hotel was produced by author Shiho Tanimura, it all made perfect sense. Every member of staff was exceptionally kind and attentive, with outstanding hospitality throughout. It felt like staying here could be the main purpose of a trip to Hakodate itself. I would love to visit again in another season.

Overall satisfaction was excellent. Opened in April this year, the property retains the charm of an older building. The food was delicious and made with carefully selected ingredients; while the flavors were slightly strong for an elderly couple, it was still within an acceptable range. The owner is very young and shows a commendable effort to listen attentively to guests' feedback. We believe there is great potential for further improvement and wish them continued success!

I had the pleasure of revisiting the enchanting Sasayuri-an. After an unforgettable experience at "Kozuno," this time I stayed in another building, "Zao." About a month ago, I was fortunate to connect with Sasayuri-an and was deeply touched by the warmth of the owners. Since then, I eagerly anticipated my return. My expectations were high due to my previous wonderful stay, but this visit exceeded them in every way. The moment we stepped inside, everyone let out a gasp of awe—it felt like stepping into another world. This 150-year-old traditional thatched-roof house is a perfect blend of historical beauty and modern comfort, truly a hidden gem. The stunning terraced rice fields visible through the windows and the star-filled night sky created an extraordinary atmosphere. The space is both majestic and refined yet evokes a nostalgic sense of comfort. Above all, the exceptional hospitality from the owners provided deep relaxation. The owner's passion for detail is evident everywhere—from beams relocated from a 400-year-old structure to speakers once used by Ryuichi Sakamoto—making every conversation with him fascinating and inspiring. Despite visiting in February's cold weather, thoughtful touches like fireplaces, discreetly placed air conditioners that preserve aesthetic harmony, and oil heaters along hallways ensured warmth throughout this spacious accommodation. The owner also practices as a Yamabushi (mountain ascetic) alongside managing his business. During our stay, we had rare opportunities to experience waterfall meditation and fire rituals under his guidance while enjoying stories about Shugendo around an irori hearth—a truly memorable experience! Evenings were spent chatting by irori flames or soaking in herbal baths within cypress tubs to unwind completely; mornings began with delicious coffee paired with breathtaking views of Japan’s timeless rural landscape—a blissful retreat indeed. Sasayuri-an offers an unparalleled escape from urban chaos where both mind and body can rejuvenate fully—a genuinely special place worth cherishing forever! Although we rarely revisit accommodations multiple times ourselves here feels different; it’s somewhere precious enough always wanting return alongside loved ones again someday soon! With facilities such as pizza ovens BBQ setups campfire areas ready springtime glamping plans already excite us looking forward next visit ahead!
