We used this for our annual family trip. My father had stayed here a long time ago, so it brought back great memories and we all got excited. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the Kero sauna and the pool. It was also nice that swimsuits were available to borrow! It seemed like the humidifier was broken... that was the only disappointment, but everything else was great.

We stayed to celebrate the youngest of our three sons’ birthday—this was about our fifth visit. The room has evolved into a family room, and with the slide, swing, and bouldering wall, they played nonstop. All three were very happy and said they want to come again and stay again. Thank you as well to K for taking such great care of us during our meals—it made the memories even more special. Next time, we’d love to visit for our second son’s birthday. Thank you in advance.

We stayed here after hearing the pork cutlet ramen was delicious, and my wife and I enjoyed it for lunch. The pork cutlet ramen was excellent, and the beef bowl we ordered as well was also outstanding. We booked the lounge plan, and after lunch we visited the lounge; both the drinks and light meals were wonderful and very tasty. The Japanese set breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and was delicious as well. The service, meals, room, and view were all superb, and my wife immediately asked to come again. It’s about an hour door-to-door from our home, but we will definitely visit again to enjoy a special getaway. Thank you very much.

The atmosphere of the main building was wonderful. Maintaining such a historic building must take a lot of effort, so I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and well kept it was. This time we chose the newer wing where we could enjoy the Onsen in our Room, but next time I would love to stay in one of the lovely Rooms in the main building, such as Sanraku or Kumoi. Dinner and drinks were delicious, and being able to enjoy them in our Room made it feel truly luxurious. All of the staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, and we made great summer memories. We will definitely come again.

The Hotel Room was very spacious, with a sitting area and large paintings, which allowed me to relax and feel at ease. I had an online interview to secure a new project, and I was so impressed by the elegant Room that it put me in a confident mindset. Perhaps because I took the interview calmly, I was told, “Perfect.” The spaciousness of the Room brought peace of mind, and I was extremely satisfied. The balcony had a table and chairs, there was also a TV in the bathroom, and the ceiling featured special curved woodwork that made it feel like being on a ship. I was able to spend truly meaningful time here. I look forward to staying again.

This was our second stay. This time, we stayed to celebrate my son and daughter-in-law’s birthdays. All the staff congratulated us, and we truly felt their thoughtful hospitality in many ways. The bar also had a wonderful atmosphere, making it a very memorable stay. The hot springs were easy to use, with towels and amenities provided. The food was excellent—the meat was high quality, and every side dish was delicious. We purchased some bath salts and are enjoying them at home as well. We would love to visit again, not only for an overnight stay but also for the day-use hot springs.

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The entire property was spotless, and the room was wonderful—right from the moment we arrived, it felt like a special escape from everyday life. All of the staff were exceptionally courteous, and their thoughtful attention throughout our stay made us feel truly comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed each dish one by one, and the dining experience was especially memorable during this trip. We were completely satisfied with everything—the room, the meals, and the service. I never expected to find such an exceptionally refined Ryokan in the quiet seaside town of Esashi. From the moment you step inside, there’s a sense of quality in the air, and the staff’s attentive, warm hospitality gently eases away any travel fatigue. The cuisine fully showcases the blessings of Esashi’s sea and land, with care and artistry evident in every dish. The seafood freshness, in particular, is outstanding—I truly felt the authentic flavor you can only experience by eating it here in Hokkaido. Overall, Ryotei Gunrai is an Accommodation so complete that the stay itself feels like a work of art. I’ve visited many Accommodations across Hokkaido, but personally I consider this my No. 1 Ryokan in Hokkaido. This was my second stay, and it confirmed it. The tranquility, cuisine, and service are all harmonized at a remarkably high level—an extraordinary place that makes you certain you’ll want to return again.

We stayed in a top-floor room. This hotel truly takes care of everything. Even though it was raining, we enjoyed the open-air bath with a sky-high view, the large public bath, and the in-room hot spring. The variety at the dinner buffet was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The made-to-order Mont Blanc prepared in the morning was delicious too. The staff were very courteous. The amenities were also exceptionally well stocked, and I debated buying the hot-spring-made cosmetics at the gift shop but decided against it—however, they were so good that I ended up ordering them online. It’s a hotel where one night just isn’t enough. I’d love to book again for my birthday next year! We’ll be back.

Thank you for taking care of us for one night and two days. The room was clean, the bath was available anytime, and the staff were always smiling—making our stay extremely comfortable. The room size was more than enough for two people. The meals, generously made with local ingredients, were served properly—hot dishes hot and cold dishes cold—and everything was pleasantly seasoned, easy to eat, and delicious while still letting the natural flavors shine through. It was such a wonderful stay that I keep replaying the memories over and over! My only regret is that I meant to buy the delicious matcha pound cake as a souvenir but forgot. This trip to Izumo also celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary, and we would be happy if we have the chance to return again someday.

This was a long-awaited stay at a hotel I had always wanted to visit, and it truly lived up to my expectations. Because of the Kumamoto earthquakes, I briefly considered canceling my reservation. However, when I reached out, I received a warm and courteous email assuring me there would be no impact. By adjusting my route, I was able to visit safely. I am sincerely grateful for the thoughtful support even before our arrival. The interior was beautifully appointed with historic furnishings, and the fresh flowers placed throughout reflected subtle attention to detail. Dinner offered an authentic atmosphere and flavors; the portions and timing of service were just right, and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at the bar afterward as well. Those who prefer flashy luxury or modern facilities may find it a bit too calm, but for us—who love classic charm—it was an ideal setting. All of the staff were wonderfully attentive, though there were moments when it seemed they might have been slightly understaffed overall, to the point that I worried about their workload. Even so, we received warm hospitality and made wonderful memories. We would love to return again when we have the chance.

At the end of my three-week hotel stay, I stayed here. Your outstanding hospitality made it a wonderful memory. Next time, I hope to stay longer than just one night. I’d also love to use the spa then!

I stayed here with a friend. The building is old and compact, but it was clean and well maintained, and we were very satisfied with the delicious meals and silky hot spring baths. The porcini ravioli served at dinner was so good we wished we could have had seconds. I think this is a highly satisfying place for adults to relax and unwind. It’s a bit of a walk for sightseeing, but it was nice to take a leisurely stroll before dinner.

Because we booked our trip at the last minute, the only dinner option available was the buffet, which was a bit disappointing at first. However, when we actually went for dinner, tempura and sushi were prepared fresh in the dining area, and the other dishes were also very tasty—we really enjoyed the meal. The service was well organized, and everything felt clean and well maintained. Overall, the staff provided attentive hospitality, and we had a very comfortable stay. It felt like this long-established ryokan has adapted well to international guests while preserving its strengths. We also really enjoyed the many baths.

We stayed here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. As soon as we drove up to the entrance, the staff—already waiting—welcomed us with amazingly smooth, attentive service. I was nervous in an unfamiliar place, but before I knew it I was in the lobby with Bach playing softly, looking out at the sea and enjoying a chilled glass of champagne, my excitement building. The space was spotless and warmly appointed, and the selection of sweets, drinks, and amenities showed impeccable taste. The toothbrush was the most comfortable I’ve ever used. Above all, the bath was outstanding. With the window open, listening to birdsong and gazing at the ocean—and because it’s free-flowing—I even tried skipping a rinse-off and body cream afterward, yet my skin stayed moisturized without drying out! At dusk, the view from the lounge was beautiful. The British ginger lemonade was delicious, and we’re especially grateful to the elegant and attentive female staff member who made the lounge so wonderfully comfortable—thank you as well for preparing an orange liqueur for us at the end. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent; not only did everything taste wonderful, but the ingredients and presentation were beautiful too. That said, I couldn’t stop eating bread and butter and ended up too full by the time we reached the main course! Even so, it was cooked perfectly and tasted superb—I finished it all. Next time I’ll pace myself so I can fully enjoy everything through to the main dish. The young service staff were also highly professional and impressive. Even without mentioning that it was an anniversary—and even as first-time guests simply dropping by—we received consistently thoughtful hospitality throughout. Thank you very much.

We stayed here to celebrate my father’s 88th birthday. Only my parents stayed overnight; after I escorted them to their Room, I left. The proprietress remembered that it was for his 88th birthday and arranged a surprise celebration with the staff. Both my father and mother were truly delighted, and I’m told it became a wonderful memory—thank you very much. This is a lovely Ryokan with exceptional hospitality.

As my parents have gotten older and we don’t know how many more trips we’ll be able to take together, I invited my brother and brought my daughter for a family trip. Because my mother has rheumatoid arthritis, we chose this Accommodation on the conditions that the Room had an open-air bath and that all five of us could stay in the same Room. It turned out to be far better than we imagined. We arrived late for check-in, but we were warmly welcomed and given a courteous explanation. Women can choose their preferred yukata pattern to wear inside the Accommodation. The lobby offered complimentary drinks including alcohol; I had a drink for the first time in 10 years, and it was delicious. There were also three kinds of cookies, all of which we enjoyed. Many of the staff were young, and everyone provided very polite service. Because the Accommodation is small and intimate, we rarely ran into other guests, which allowed us to relax completely. Every meal was excellent. Thank you as well for accommodating my child’s allergies. For breakfast, they served a Western-style option for children, so there were many items my child could eat, which made us very happy. Both the Room and the open-air bath seemed new and were spotless—there is nothing to complain about—but above all else, the view is outstanding. The river flows right in front of you, and you can enjoy it almost privately not only from the lobby but also from your Room. We were truly moved by it. We heard that peak autumn foliage is around early November, so next time I would like to make a Reservation around then if possible. If I may make one request: I would appreciate it if cleansing oil could be provided in the Room. When I asked at reception they kindly brought it right away so it wasn’t an issue in practice; however, some guests may use only the in-room open-air bath without going elsewhere, so I hope you will consider it. Lastly, thank you very much for helping us create such wonderful memories on this trip.

My sons, who were visiting from Tokyo, stayed here and said, “I didn’t know there was such a great hotel in Iwata—it's even better than a five-star hotel in New York! (lol)” ・The room was spotless ・The amenities were excellent (the hair dryer?) ・Breakfast was delicious, etc. They said they want to stay here again next time, and seeing how happy they were made me feel happy too.

I stay here every year when I visit Kobe, also to pay my respects at the family grave. The front desk staff always welcome me warmly, making me feel like I’ve come home. The Room furnishings are calm and tasteful, and the drawers for storing clothes are very convenient. They provide a voucher for Chikuzono Butcher’s croquettes, so enjoying those nostalgic, warm croquettes in my Room is one of my pleasures. I also enjoyed drinks in the lounge while taking in the night view of Mt. Rokko and spent a relaxing time. I look forward to staying with you again.
