I love hotel stays and have stayed at many Hotels across Japan, but this Hotel was exceptional. In particular, the views of Mt. Yotei from the Room and the large public bath, as well as the sea of clouds I saw from the rooftop early in the morning, were breathtaking. It seemed there were only a few guests during my stay, so I was able to use both the fitness gym and the large public bath almost privately. The gym had Pilates machines and state-of-the-art equipment, which made working out even better. The shampoo and conditioner in the large public bath had a lovely scent and were very relaxing. I was also happy that the hair dryer was a Dyson product. Breakfast was served as a set course with a choice of Japanese or Western options. The portions were generous and everything was delicious. During my stay I caused some trouble by accident, but every staff member responded with great kindness—thank you very much. Personally, I loved the Room’s color scheme and interior design; it really lifted my mood. If I visit Niseko again, I would definitely like to stay here again.

My second stay in four years, and it was another wonderful experience. The Facility was just as spotless as last time, and you can really feel the staff’s careful daily work. We drove around to shop for local Hakuba vegetables, locally raised pork, and Shinshu sake, then had our accompanying chef cook for us. Absolutely the best. Check-in/out is contactless, but the service quality truly lives up to the word “hospitality,” such as having fresh towels prepared on the second day. Having four toilets and three shower rooms (two with bathtubs) is also something you’d expect from a Hakuba Accommodation shaped by skiers—very much appreciated. Spending time with friends over drinks, deepening our bonds, and talking about the future—if you can arrange a car and a chef, summer in Hakuba is unbeatable. If I had one request: stronger Wi‑Fi. A bit more speed would make online meetings even easier. That said, there’s no doubt this is an Accommodation I want to add to my regular rotation. We also visited Kurobe Dam. It’s less than an hour by car to Ogizawa Parking Lot, so it’s definitely a great sightseeing option.

The hot spring water is sourced directly from the spring, with both lukewarm and hot baths available, as well as an open-air bath. Visiting during a less crowded period allows for a relaxing soak to relieve fatigue. I look forward to visiting again.

I stayed for three nights. The front desk staff were wonderful—perfect service. The twin Room was more spacious than expected, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is free and far better than I imagined. Drinks include coffee, sanpin tea, and free soda, and from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM there are even seven types of awamori available with unlimited refills. Bicycles can be rented free for five hours. If you choose not to have your Room cleaned or towels replaced, you receive a ticket that can be exchanged for souvenirs next to the front desk or Points. It’s about a 7–8 minute walk from the Hotel to the 730 Intersection (the center of the downtown area), so the location is excellent. I will definitely stay at Hotel Patina Ishigakijima again, and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay.

I visited this auberge for the first time on a two-person trip with my daughter—I'm a serious Onsen lover, and she’s happy to come along as long as there’s great food. We were excited from the start. Since we’re the “stay-in and relax” type who don’t need sightseeing, this was the best Accommodation that met all my requirements, including an all-inclusive plan. The Room options by type matched our request perfectly, and I felt soothed in a space with a style I love. The food was, of course, outstanding—everything tasted new to me, and I was truly impressed! It exceeded my expectations so much that I was far too full to enjoy much of the after-dinner drinks in the lounge or the snacks and sweets, and I didn’t even make it to the cup noodles. I was also amazed by how many kinds of complimentary drinks were available, and there was plenty of beer and water stocked in the Room refrigerator as well. The amenities felt very luxurious. They were such good quality that there’s no need to bring your own. Because it was just us at breakfast, we were able to chat with one of the female staff members (I wish I had asked her name) and enjoy a wonderful time right up until close to checkout. They even had bread from my favorite bakery prepared for us—I was so happy. It’s a shame I can’t write about the Onsen experience, but instead we were able to enjoy another Onsen nearby, which I’ll take as good luck—and it also gave us a reason (and a promise) to come back for sure. I also feel sorry that you showed us such considerate care—it almost felt like too much. I’m grateful to have found an Accommodation in Yunogo that we’ll definitely return to. I recommend it for important anniversaries, and it has also become a special place as a reward for myself. Two wonderful staff members and an incredibly talented chef. I truly hope this place will be here for many years to come. Thank you so much!

I stayed with my sister at this accommodation. The hotel is a special space where you can feel attention to detail throughout the premises, allowing us to enjoy an extraordinary time away from the noise of the city despite being in the heart of it. My sister and I often travel together, but we felt our time together was especially meaningful here, which we believe is due to the charm of this hotel. After check-in, we spent happy hour at the bar, discussed our plans for the next day on the rooftop after dinner, and used the open-air bath before breakfast. Although there was no TV in our room, it encouraged more conversation and made us cherish our time together even more than usual. Breakfast featured a healthy menu centered around salads. What left a particularly strong impression during our stay was the smiles of all staff members. We also appreciated their friendly conversations when leaving or returning to the accommodation.

I stayed for 2 nights. I had made separate 1-night Reservations for the same Room type on different dates through different sites, so I called about a week before my stay to ask if they could treat it as a Multiple Night Stay, and they kindly agreed. However, when I tried to check in on the day, it was not set up as a Multiple Night Stay. Still, although it took some time, they arranged it so I could stay in the same Room for both nights, which was very helpful. The Hotel was clean. The sink and bath area were compact but not an issue. The refrigerator worked well too. My Room was near the elevator, but I hardly noticed any noise from the hallway. Overall, my stay was very comfortable.

Although my plan was No Meals Included, the front desk staff were very helpful, and I was able to use the private bath free of charge. The large public bath was also very clean. It was a little small, so I’m giving it 4 stars. Still, the hot spring water quality felt wonderful. This is a Hotel I would like to stay at again.

Since around February this year, I’ve stayed here whenever I visit Kita-Karuizawa for work, and I’ve already returned for more than 10 nights. It’s a long-loved pension, so the building shows its age, but it’s kept very clean. Surrounded by beautiful trees, it feels like an especially perfect location in the coming season. The biggest highlight is the food. Even after staying many times, I can’t recall ever being served the same menu. The owner couple seem to thoughtfully create new dishes each time for repeat guests like me, and I truly appreciate their care. Not only do I look forward to every meal, but chatting with them after dinner has also become a wonderful travel memory. It’s located in Tsumagoi Village, but if you’re traveling to Karuizawa or Kusatsu Onsen, I highly recommend going a little further and staying at Motown. A pension I can wholeheartedly recommend!

The location from the Room, the spaciousness of the bath, and the staff's hospitality were all excellent and very satisfying. I would love to use your services again in the coming years. Thank you very much.

I stayed here twice shortly after it opened, and this time I returned for the first time in seven years. Back then, I felt the service didn’t quite suit us, but this time all the front desk staff were friendly. Perhaps because it was early in the morning, the large public bath was also very well cleaned, and I had a comfortable stay. The Room is not large by any means, but considering this location in Gion and the level of service for this price, I was very satisfied. If possible, I would appreciate having bath towels available in the bath area or an extra set of towels placed in the Room. Reusing a wet towel multiple times isn’t pleasant. Also, I would like a “Do Not Disturb” sign for the Room. Even if housekeeping is not expected to enter, mistakes can happen. For security reasons as well, I strongly hope you will consider this. If I have another opportunity, I would love to stay again. Thank you in advance.

We stayed in March and November. The property has an interesting layout with the living room on the first floor and bedrooms on the second floor. The wooden deck is a relaxing spot, often visited by many cats. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious shabu-shabu dinner. We look forward to staying here again if we have the chance!

Booked a great-value room at the last minute. There is an Onsen, free tea in the lobby, and all the staff were very helpful. They also introduced us to the stone-paved streets of Ochiai, which made our trip very fulfilling. Thank you.

This was my first stay. During check-in, they asked how I planned to get back, and when I told them, they said the bus would be easier! They printed out the bus timetable right away and marked the service I should take the next day. And early the next morning… they even walked with me to the bus stop so I wouldn’t get lost!!! The owner was incredibly friendly, with a charming smile. I’d love to see them again!

About 10 years ago, I stayed here when it was operating as a “weekly apartment,” and this time was my first stay in quite a while. While feeling nostalgic, I also had an extremely comfortable stay. ■ Outstanding hospitality Most impressive of all was the service from the female front desk staff member. Her explanations were very thorough, and she made check-in feel refreshing from the start. Although I work in customer service in a different industry, her attentive care and demeanor were so wonderful that I genuinely felt, “I want to learn from this.” ■ Cleanliness The Room was meticulously cleaned throughout—no dustiness and no unpleasant odors at all—spotlessly clean. The unit bath and toilet (no bidet seat installed) do feel dated as Facility features, but they are polished so well that it more than makes up for their age. Given Yamagata’s many excellent Onsen facilities nearby, if you plan to enjoy bathing outside, it’s not an issue at all. ■ Dining and location It was a little disappointing that the kitchen that used to be available is now unusable, but there are plenty of restaurants in the area. In particular, “Sakaeya Honten,” famous for hiyashi ramen (cold ramen), is right across the street—an unbeatable location! You won’t have any trouble finding somewhere to eat. ■ Advice for future guests Check-in hours are relatively tight (15:00–18:00). I recommend planning your schedule with plenty of buffer time. (They seem able to accommodate flexibly if you contact them in advance, but arriving early is safest.) I felt this is a very trustworthy Accommodation where older facilities are more than compensated for by careful cleaning and warm service. I would gladly stay again when visiting Yamagata.

This was our second visit, and once again, the hospitality was exceptional, making it a delightful stay for the whole family. Attentive service, delicious food, and beautiful grounds. We especially loved the canoeing! The only downside this time was that our location didn’t have a toilet or sink nearby, so we had to leave the Room to use the restroom, which was a bit inconvenient. Opening and closing the tent was also somewhat challenging... Other than that, we were very satisfied!

It was very clean and comfortable. I could really feel the attention to detail and thoughtfulness in the amenities. The number locks at the entrance to the Accommodation building and on the Room door were a bit of a hassle, but they make sense from a security standpoint. There were only a few guests, so it felt almost like having the place to ourselves and we could use it spaciously. At night in the BAR (shared living room), I had a short chat with the owner at the counter. If there had been more guests, I think I could have enjoyed even more interaction. Just note that meals are not provided. How you use the dining/drinking space (shared living room) is up to you. It isn’t cheap for private Room use, but it was an Accommodation I felt was well worth it—and I was very satisfied.

Five of us stayed here while walking the Nakasendo from Tokyo Nihonbashi. We washed our clothes in the washing machine and enjoyed nicely chilled drinks. Since it was during extreme heat, the thoughtful care for our tired bodies truly meant a lot. The basic seasonings were all provided. We couldn’t find a supermarket nearby, so we ate out at nearby restaurants, but with a larger group it would be fun to cook for ourselves. It’s right by the station, so access was excellent. The Room was spacious, and the next morning we all watched the FIFA World Cup final together on a large screen. It was so comfortable it felt like home, and I accidentally left my mobile battery pack behind while it was charging. When I called, they promptly mailed it back to my home. I’m sorry for the trouble. I’d love to stay again when I have the chance.

I traveled with my elderly mother, who uses a wheelchair. There was a small step along the road at first, but the staff came immediately and provided heartfelt hospitality, making it a delightful two days for my mother. All the staff were kind and pleasant. We were truly taken care of, including an upgrade to the room. Thank you very much. Since Nishiki Market and Daimaru are nearby, we would love to stay again. The room was clean, and I highly recommend it!

On the morning of the 24th, I searched for and booked a Hotel with a large public bath nearby so I could watch the Gion Festival yamahoko “tsujimawashi” at Kawaramachi Oike. It was absolutely the right choice! From the subtly Kyoto-style entrance, everything felt welcoming—especially the front desk staff, whose excellent service instantly eased my fatigue from traveling in extreme heat. I was satisfied as soon as I entered the Room. It’s a take-off-your-shoes style, and the clean Room along with its layout and furnishings made it feel like coming home. Having all water facilities grouped together right by the entrance is very convenient. Since there is a large public bath, the shower booth in the Room was more than enough. While many Hotels these days don’t provide sofas or tables, I really appreciated having a long sofa you can lie down on, an armchair-style single sofa, and a table that’s plenty for two people. There are many great restaurants nearby, so it was nice to have a setup that makes takeout easy to enjoy in the Room. The lighting controls were easy to understand, with thoughtful touches like an individual bedside light and options for indirect lighting throughout the Room. The bed was very comfortable—even with sensitive skin and being sensitive to smells, I slept soundly. The linens—especially the pajamas—were high quality and perfectly laundered; cleaning standards were excellent overall, including towels for the large public bath. Water came in stylish Ito En bottle-type containers that were replenished again on the second day and convenient to carry around. Tea, coffee, and black tea were also restocked, and I was happy they even provided wine glasses. At the entrance to/fromthe large public bath area there were two types of vinegar drinks that helped me stay balanced during summer heat. As for views: you can see mountains inthe distance,but right next door is an apartment balcony,and below is temple cemetery grounds,s oI keptthe blinds downand used indirect lighting.(I usedto livein Teramachi,s o cemeteries don’t bother me.)Since windows are frosted glassin springand autumn too,I think it won’t be an issue unless you wantto open them fully.The hospitality at this Hotel more than made upfor it.I didn’t add breakfast,but usedthe attached grillfor lunchand cocktail time,and enjoyed both.I’d love to stay at this Accommodation again.
