A truly quiet retreat worthy of being called the ultimate villa—so peaceful you can hear only birdsong. I was able to relax deeply and feel completely at ease. The food was exceptionally high quality; the corn consommé soup and the eggplant-and-tempeh caprese were unbelievably delicious. I bought the flower-shaped cheese on top of the caprese at a roadside station. Thank you again for taking such great care of us.

This is a truly wonderful Hotel. The service, the Room, and the breakfast are all exceptionally attentive, and there are delightful surprises everywhere. The art pieces throughout the Hotel are also fascinating. It’s fun just to walk around and look at them, and it’s especially nice that whenever I spoke to the staff, they gave thoughtful, well-informed answers. Thank you very much.

We were satisfied with everything—the guest room, the private open-air bath, and the restaurant. The retro furnishings in the room were truly comforting, and we were impressed by the thoughtful care in the meals. We enjoyed a level of luxury that exceeded the price. This is a Hotel we would love to visit again. The Hotel staff were also wonderful. As I get older, I find peace in an Accommodation like this. I hadn’t had many chances to visit Chichibu before, but this was an excellent Hotel as a base for visiting Mitsumine Shrine, Chichibu Shrine, and Hodosan Shrine (the Chichibu Three Shrines pilgrimage), as well as sightseeing in Nagatoro. The three of us—my 86-year-old father, my brother, and I—stayed here. When I mentioned during the Reservation that my father is elderly, they kindly upgraded us on the day to a Room with a private indoor Onsen bath fed directly from the source. My father was delighted and said he could truly relax and enjoy the Onsen. Everyone at the Ryokan, starting with the proprietress, was very kind. Their service was warm yet respectfully unobtrusive, which we really appreciated. Our Room was a traditional-style Japanese-Western suite inspired by an old farmhouse; it was spacious and luxurious, and we couldn’t help but admire the impressive beams. We were shown to a private dining room for our meal, which we had been looking forward to. The dishes were served at our pace, allowing us to savor delicious food and drinks in complete comfort. It was a wonderful Accommodation that made us want to return again after quite some time away. Thank you so much to the proprietress and all staff for your exceptional hospitality!

The floors throughout the Ryokan were comfortable to walk on barefoot, making it feel like home. I completely understood why rolling suitcases are not allowed. I could really appreciate the owner’s attention to detail, and I thought it was wonderful. The location was excellent, and the meals were delicious.

I visited Hiiragiya again. I had made a Reservation for a Room with a bath and toilet, but I was first shown to a Room without them. It was still very comfortable, but when I asked to Check Reservation, I was told there had been a mistake, and you kindly arranged for me to stay in the Room associated with author Yasunari Kawabata. Thank you for your thoughtful care. Once again, I enjoyed Kyoto’s summer flavors—chilled edamame soup topped with sea urchin, pike conger sashimi, grilled tilefish with crispy scales, jellied soft-shelled turtle broth, Kamo eggplant with sesame sauce, and more—then fully enjoyed Yoiyama and fell asleep thinking of Mr. Kawabata before continuing on to the Gion Festival. Kyoto is changing little by little, but this is the beauty of Japan—and the spirit of Japanese hospitality—that I hope will be passed on to future generations.

Nestled at the foot of Mt. Tanigawa, this was a truly warm and memorable Accommodation. Because it is family-run, thoughtful touches could be felt everywhere; from the moment we arrived, it somehow felt nostalgic, and we immediately relaxed into a natural sense of comfort. The interior is calm rather than flashy, and you can tell it is carefully maintained. What impressed us most was the food. It had a great reputation in Reviews, but it exceeded our expectations. Seasonal local ingredients are used generously, and each dish is prepared with great care. Nothing is showy, yet the quality of the ingredients shines through—enhanced by professional skill and subtle creativity—and it made us realize that this kind of cooking is true luxury. Every dish felt heartfelt; simple yet deeply flavorful, turning mealtime itself into one of the highlights of our trip. The owner’s shakuhachi performance was also wonderful, making our stay feel like something more than just an overnight visit. Combined with Mt. Tanigawa’s nature and the quiet atmosphere, it brought a sense of calm and balance to the mind, reminding us once again of Japan’s unique beauty and charm. Rather than for those seeking glamour or extravagance, this Accommodation is highly recommended for anyone looking for genuinely comfortable time away, human warmth, and a stay that lets you feel the character of the area. It was such a lovely place that we would gladly return in another season.

As always, we thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful meals. We also had the chance to spend time with the cats and had a truly delightful stay. We love the cabbage fields visible from our Room. We bought some vegetables from the Accommodation to take home, and they were delicious—making us happy all over again. We will be back again. Thank you in advance for your continued hospitality.

This was an Accommodation I definitely want to return to after my stay. The Room was spotless, and the thoughtful care of the staff could be felt in every detail, allowing me to relax and unwind from my busy daily life. Above all, both dinner and breakfast exceeded my expectations. This is what it truly means to enjoy food—every dish was outstanding, from dessert to the after-meal tea. The drinks were also excellent, and while Ehime often brings Matsuyama to mind, after staying here, for me Ehime now means Uchiko. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

We stayed here on a trip for our wedding anniversary. All the staff were wonderful, the property was clean throughout, and although we only had breakfast, everything was delicious. The location is also very convenient, and whenever we visit Otaru, we would definitely like to stay here again. Being able to stay at such a lovely Accommodation on the first night of our trip made it a truly memorable journey.

The view from the Room was wonderful, and the meals were delicious—we had a great stay. If I had to mention one thing, I only wish we could have used the bath a little longer at a more relaxed pace. We will visit again in a different season. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

The staff were exceptionally courteous, and the hospitality was outstanding. Their replies were beautifully written, and their thoughtful attention to detail made our stay truly comfortable. The meals were especially impressive—both dinner and breakfast, generously prepared with local ingredients, were absolutely delicious. Not only the food but also the carefully chosen tableware enhanced each dish and made the experience even more enjoyable. Another major highlight is the excellent location, just a short distance from Izumo Taisha Shrine. This is a wonderful Accommodation that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Izumo. I would love to stay again.

We stayed here 7 or 8 years ago, when our dog was about one year old. Since it had been so long, we thought the property might feel dated, but the entire facility, the Room, and the baths were all very clean and well maintained, and we had a wonderful time in comfort. The welcome services were excellent, and we were truly impressed by their dog-first approach. We arrived earlier than expected and contacted them; in this heat we weren’t sure what to do, but they kindly told us, “Please wait inside until your Room is ready,” and welcomed us warmly—it was a huge help. This is definitely a place we would love to visit again. In this extreme heat, please take care of yourselves—we look forward to seeing you again.

The Hotel’s services were excellent. After check-in, we enjoyed matcha, ice cream, and warabi mochi. In the evening, the complimentary alcohol and snacks made us not want to go out. The staff were kind and attentive. It was an удобный location with easy walking access to Kyoto Station, plenty of convenience stores, and many places to eat nearby. Whenever I have business in Kyoto, I’ll want to stay here again. It’s a great way to refresh.

With no real knowledge of Tsuchiyu Onsen—I'd heard the name but that was about it—we visited as a group of three with my elderly parents, relying on the great Reviews. We parked and entered into the 5th-floor lobby. The beauty of the parquet woodwork and the lush green gorge took our breath away. We checked in while enjoying welcome drinks on the sofa. Our Room on the 3rd floor was just as modern as in the photos and came with a cypress open-air bath. Before dinner, we used the large public bath on the 1st floor. The water was amazing!! A faint sulfur scent and silky water that seemed to cling to your skin. My parents were impressed too, saying it was the best Onsen water they’d ever experienced. Apparently even the shower water is from the Onsen—I’d never seen that before, so I was surprised. We went to the public bath three times during our one-night stay, and only ran into another guest once (just one person). It felt almost private, which made it even better. Dinner was served in a private room on the 4th floor. We chose Japanese cuisine. The explanations were very careful and easy to understand, and everything—from taste to presentation (including the tableware)—was beautiful; you could really feel the chef’s attention to detail. The handwritten menu also had a wonderful charm. Breakfast was also Japanese cuisine, and we were just as satisfied as we were at dinner. This trip also celebrated my mother’s birthday and mine, so we booked an Anniversary Plan. After dinner they brought out a cake, but we were too full to eat it, so they delivered it to our Room instead. After relaxing in the Onsen for a bit, we still felt full—but said “Since it’s here anyway, let’s finish it tonight,” made some coffee...and ended up eating it all! It really was delicious!! We were also happy with the parquet coaster gift—thank you very much. To all of your staff: thank you for taking such great care of us. We truly appreciate all your kindness. We will definitely come again while my parents are still healthy!

My friend and I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. With the various activities and private baths, we had so much fun we lost track of time! Meals were buffet-style, and everything was delicious. They even prepared a mini cake for my friend’s birthday surprise, which made it a wonderful memory. I also appreciated that the special one-plate-per-person menu was different on the first and second days. Overall, there were many families among the guests. There were lots of games and activities for young children, and we often saw staff casually chatting with them. Even in the dining area and at the Onsen, everything was thoughtfully arranged for guests with children—so it made perfect sense that so many families choose this place. The staff were kind and friendly, and their warm service truly impressed me. I’d love to stay again!

It was an Accommodation with warm, homely hospitality that made us want to come back again. Madam proprietress, we wish you continued days of “few worries and few illnesses.” We would like to visit again when the road conditions improve. Thank you very much for your kind care.

I had a wonderfully relaxing stay at a comfortable pace. It was quiet and spotless throughout, and the Onsen was incredibly open and wonderful. Every meal was deeply delicious. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming. I feel as if both my body and mind have been refreshed. I can hardly believe how reasonably priced it is. Thank you very much. I stayed for one night. The service, meals, and baths were all excellent. There was also a local festival that day, which gave me a special opportunity to experience the surrounding culture. The view from the bath overlooked the harbor and had a wonderful atmosphere, and I was happy there was also a sauna and cold plunge. I also truly appreciated the flexible Shuttle Service, which made my trip much more convenient.
