It was a very enjoyable stay for our kindergarten-aged child. Both dinner and breakfast were full of foods kids love. They had fun making their own ice cream, and they could also bring chocolate syrup and chocolate toppings from a separate area to create their own pancakes. (We wished there had been pancake syrup in the kids’ corner.) The Onsen temperature was set low for children (it might feel lukewarm for adults), and our child stayed in for about an hour. The only downside was that the photos in the information showed a drum washing machine, but there wasn’t one in reality. Other than that, they offer lots of children’s activities, so I think it’s an excellent Hotel for families with kids. We’d like to come again in winter.

We stayed this time as a family of four. We first discovered this Accommodation when we stayed here on a tour more than 10 years ago. Since then, we have returned many times for motorcycle touring and family trips. It is also in a great location for visiting the nearby Ainu Kotan and local handicraft shops. The delicious meals—and above all, the Onsen—everything deserves top marks. We will definitely be back again.

We were able to stay with our dog and had a wonderful time. The meals were delicious, and the golf course greens viewed from the Hotel were dazzling.

This was our second stay, following last year. We stayed for two nights with four adults and our dog (a Yorkshire Terrier). The Room is spacious, so even a family of four can relax comfortably. The bedroom is also roomy—when we pushed the two beds together, there was still plenty of space for three people. The pet amenities were well stocked, and we had a very comfortable stay even with our dog. The kitchen is easy to use, and it’s convenient that almost everything you need is provided except seasonings. The refrigerator was pre-stocked with drinks such as wine, cup sake, craft beer, cider, and juice, as well as snacks and sweets—these thoughtful touches were much appreciated. One small disappointment was the coffee. Although there were four of us, there were only three coffee capsules; having one per person would be better. Also, we realized too late that coffee for the second day required advance request by the previous day, so we couldn’t receive it and ended up buying some from a vending machine. For a Multiple Night Stay, clearer guidance would be appreciated. The terrace feels private, and although it’s on the first floor, you can see Lake Ashi and the torii gate of Hakone Shrine through the trees—the location is excellent. Last year we noticed quite a lot of weeds in the garden area, but this time it was neatly maintained; we were happy to see that improvement. The terrace footbath was a bit too hot for us. Even at the lowest temperature setting it was still hot; we added water to adjust it but found it difficult to get just right. This may depend on the season and personal preference, but finer temperature control would be welcome. Once at a comfortable temperature, enjoying the footbath while feeling the evening breeze would be wonderful—and likely become one of our favorite moments unique to this Accommodation. The BBQ grill kept on the terrace is also easy to use, making casual BBQs another great feature. Overall, being able to spend time with family and our dog without worrying about others is what makes this place especially appealing. With well-equipped Facility features and amenities—and a relaxing atmosphere with Lake Ashi nearby—this is an Accommodation we’d love to return to again.

I booked while feeling uneasy because some negative Reviews stuck with me. In the end, if you don’t expect too much, you can be satisfied. The sukiyaki catering was generous and very satisfying. Breakfast was served individually rather than buffet-style, so we could eat at a relaxed pace. Drinks, rice, and pork miso soup were self-serve with free refills. Since it was a cool day—almost chilly—our dog stayed in a crate in the car. Honestly, it was a hassle that check-in/out and breakfast were at a Hotel about 5 minutes away by car. You’re given a map for the cottage, but it’s extremely hard to understand. I wish they would place arrows or signs at key turning points on site to make it clearer. The roads are narrow, and at night you’ll definitely get lost. The short set of steps from where you park to the cottage is tough. With lots of luggage for both people and our dog, you can’t use a cart either. It probably depends on the Room, but there was a full set of kitchen items, which was very convenient. No seasonings are provided. The large fridge and having plastic wrap available were small but helpful touches. Tap water is drinkable as-is, but if that concerns you, it’s better to bring your own drinks. The fridge is empty. There was only one bath towel and one smaller towel (the size you’d take into an Onsen bathing area) per person, which was inconvenient—I’d love two of each. Also, please provide newer towels; the ones for dogs were fluffier and made me wonder which were meant for people. I was very concerned about dampness in the closet where the bedding is stored and in the connected wardrobe area. It would be better managed with a dehumidifier. The insects I worried about were within an acceptable range; given the surrounding environment it can’t really be helped, so if you can’t handle bugs you should look for another Accommodation. The building is honestly old, but the Facility has been updated and everything was kept clean. Because it’s a standalone house-style building, it was very quiet and relaxing. There are no loungewear pajamas and amenities are minimal—so it’s different from staying at a Hotel—but checkout is 11:00 so we could take our time and enjoy things at our family’s pace overall we were very satisfied. Choosing no meals might also be good: shop at places like Tsuruya or local supermarkets/roadside stations (michi-no-eki) and prepare things yourself. That way you can stay with your dog all day too.

I stayed here the night before a golf trip. I wondered if it might be a slightly older Hotel, but I was able to check in automatically, and the staff member (a woman) handled an elderly guest with care and courtesy, which left a good impression. The bath was also spacious and satisfying for me. I plan to stay again.

It was as delicious as rumored. The wine selection was excellent, and everything—from the bread to the desserts—was outstanding.

I had always wanted to visit Himi, but I struggled to find the perfect accommodation that matched my ideal. After extensive research, I discovered this wonderful accommodation. This small luxury retreat accommodates only two groups per day, but on the day of our stay, we were fortunate to have it all to ourselves. It felt like having a private villa—a truly luxurious experience. The meals exceeded all expectations. The creative dishes featuring Toyama's seafood were absolutely exquisite. What elevated this culinary experience even further was the sake pairing selected by the proprietress, who is a certified sake sommelier. Each pairing perfectly complemented each dish and brought out the full flavors of Toyama's seafood. Conversations with all the staff were also incredibly enjoyable. This is an accommodation that makes you want to return again and again. Wishing you continued success in your endeavors! Thank you very much!

With its high ceilings, the space felt open and truly luxurious. Both the bath and sauna were spacious, allowing you to relax at your own pace. The sauna also offers self-service löyly, so it heats up properly—an authentic setup that even sauna enthusiasts will be satisfied with. It was also impressive how the concept was consistently carried through to the smallest details, from pajamas and cooking utensils to lighting, reflecting the owner’s careful attention. From the large windows, we enjoyed panoramic views of lush greenery and Mt. Omuro, which were soothing both in the morning and at sunset. For breakfast, we grilled dried fish ourselves; it felt special in a way that’s different from a Ryokan experience, and it was delicious. The space, Facility offerings, and views were all outstanding—an Accommodation we’d love to visit again in a different season.

We stayed with a total of seven guests—five adults and two young children—and everyone was able to relax comfortably throughout our stay. The luxurious, open layout was truly impressive, never once feeling cramped even with this many people. True to the “self auberge” concept, shopping for fresh local ingredients and taking our time cooking them over the lava stone hearth was an exceptional experience. It wasn’t just about cooking—we enjoyed a truly indulgent time gathered around the fire, relaxing and chatting at our own pace. The private sauna was also outstanding; after reaching peak relaxation, the panoramic view of the town from the elevated terrace was breathtaking. The interior design, amenities, and tableware were all thoughtfully curated down to the smallest details, making it feel like one night simply wasn’t enough. Both adults and children were completely satisfied, and we will definitely be back again.

My wife wanted to visit Yufuin for the first time, so we stayed here. It’s in a quiet location, and the dinner and breakfast served in the thatched-roof main house were delicious. The bath was also very comfortable at just the right temperature. However, we did see stink bugs, crickets, and winged ants in the washroom and hallways, and my wife—who dislikes insects—was not happy about that. Still, since there is a semi-open-air bath, it’s understandable that insects may come in during this hot season. Other than that, it was an excellent Accommodation, and next time I’d like to bring our grandchildren.

If you’d like the rice and miso soup served earlier at dinner, it’s best to ask. (I’m not sure about the Ryokan’s unspoken rules, but if you don’t say anything, they seem to ask near the end—just before dessert—and will bring them if needed.) Breakfast had a bit more pickles and pre-made dishes than expected, so I would have appreciated a few more freshly cooked warm items.

I had a Reservation for the Kasumi Geo Taxi from 8:30, so I left home at 4:30 in the morning. After enjoying the San’in Geopark from the boat, I arrived at the Ryokan early. They kindly let me into my Room a little ahead of time, so I was able to take a nap—truly grateful. That evening, I went to the Kasumi Hometown Festival (the seaside fireworks display), and due to traffic I returned to the Ryokan later than expected, but I was glad I could still use the bath. Since other guests were also going to the fireworks, they thoughtfully extended the bathing hours. As you’d expect from a cuisine-focused Ryokan, breakfast is absolutely delicious—I’m a repeat guest for that reason as well. Above all, every staff member is polite and kind, and their guest-centered care is truly admirable. The clean and well-maintained Ryokan reflects their genuine hospitality. It was a wonderful holiday both physically and mentally. Thank you very much.

This is my favorite Accommodation, and I have stayed here several times. Because it’s a detached log cabin, you can relax in nature without worrying about others. Outside the windows is lush greenery, and taking a bath while listening to birdsong is truly soothing. The meals are delicious every time, and all the staff are kind—an Accommodation where you feel right at home. With Shuttle Service available, it’s easy to get there even by train, and it’s an Accommodation I want to visit again and again. I’ll be back in a different season. Thank you very much.

I stayed in an East Wing twin Room. The view from the Room was great, overlooking the open sky. There was no air conditioning, but there was a fan, so it wasn’t a problem. The dinner buffet was good—especially the seared bonito and binchotan tuna. There was also crab, but it was pretty empty and not very good. It was disappointing that alcohol prices were high. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. For some reason they had morning beer, and it was cheap at 500 yen! The hot spring water quality was excellent and I was satisfied. The only downside is that since it’s a shared open-air bath, I wish they would switch between men and women by time slots. Before check-in, you can use the baths at Prince Hotel and Kogen Hotel.

We stayed in a Room with a private open-air bath. The large public bath had no windows and felt dark, so we didn’t end up using it, but the private open-air bath in the Room was more than enough to enjoy the Onsen. We would like to stay in the same Room again next time.

It was our first time at Club Med, and although the reviews were mixed, we ended up being very satisfied! English is the main language, but many staff members speak Japanese, so we had no trouble during our stay. The facility is old, but aside from weak water pressure in the shower, there were no major issues. The room only has basic amenities and lacks a luxurious feel; however, since we spent most of our time enjoying activities or at the bar, the simplicity of the room did not bother us. It really felt like just a place to sleep. Kids can have an amazing time too, so it’s especially recommended for families! We will definitely come back!

From start to finish, including our departure, the service was heartfelt and attentive. Dinner and breakfast were not only delicious with fresh seafood, but also so plentiful we thought we couldn’t possibly finish everything. The Room had a calm atmosphere that helped melt away everyday stress, and in the morning the song of bush warblers served as a natural alarm for a pleasant wake-up. The amenities were well stocked, and since they were available in the lobby, it was helpful to be able to pick up more at any time. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

In conclusion, the value for the price was outstanding. The Room was clean and spacious, and we also appreciated the table and chairs on the balcony. We were amazed by the Onsen water quality. We never expected such a strong sulfur scent from an Onsen in this area! The private open-air bath in the Room had a ceramic tub, and it was wonderful to soak comfortably with our legs stretched out. It was so good that we used it many times! We felt the upper slat of the privacy screen could be removed without any issue. It would make a big difference in how open it feels. The food also surprised us. Since we chose a standard Plan, we honestly didn’t expect that much, but there were many local ingredients and thoughtful touches—and above all, everything was seasoned beautifully and tasted excellent. We felt the head chef must be truly exceptional. We’re very interested in the chef’s choice course! All of the staff were kind as well. It was so great that we went ahead and made another Reservation for one month later.

The view of Sakurajima floating on Kinko Bay right in front is absolutely stunning, and the Room was clean and very comfortable.
