It’s a small Accommodation, but the Room had an open-air bath, and the futon was wonderfully fluffy. The food was also very delicious. Our attendant was from Malaysia, and her smile was lovely—she served us wholeheartedly. Thank you very much. What concerned me was that the dishes were served a little slowly; my husband, after having some drinks, fell asleep halfway through. Also, since there are only private baths and the in-room open-air bath (no large public bath), we found ourselves watching the time when going to use the private bath. I deducted points for those reasons, but it was an Accommodation where we could relax at a leisurely pace.

We stayed as a family during the Obon holiday. It was a charming Japanese-style accommodation with a cozy atmosphere, beautifully decorated with carefully selected furnishings, and impeccably clean hallways that sparkled! Since it accommodates only two groups per day, it was quiet, and we enjoyed having the onsen all to ourselves. Dinner featured plenty of local dishes, though I couldn't finish everything and felt sorry about it. The only downside was running out of cold water and having to go buy some early in the morning. One concern was that the sound of the flush from the room's toilet echoed throughout the room at night, making it hard to sleep. I believe this might be due to structural issues but found it bothersome!

From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation, we were warmly welcomed, and it felt very homey. The food was delicious, and everything was explained very carefully. At night, we were also able to watch a meteor shower from what seemed like a terrace or balcony, which was very satisfying.

We had a wonderful time. Due to the heavy rain, the Onsen source stopped, so it was disappointing that we couldn’t use the in-room bath. However, we received a courteous message in advance, and your responses throughout our communication were very polite, so we were able to stay without any issues. Although we couldn’t use the in-room bath, giving 1 star would lower your rating too much, so with hopes for next time I’m giving 5 stars. I would like to visit again once the Onsen is restored. As a personal request, I’d like to mention two points for improvement. First, regarding the hanging light in the center of the Room: even when it was on, it felt dim. If you could replace it with one that allows brightness adjustment or switch to a brighter LED light, I think it would be more comfortable. Second, when walking from the parking area to the entrance, there were multiple nests of what looked like horseflies on the ground. There were many of them around and it made entering and leaving the building difficult. Since this is an important pathway for guests, it would be better to remove the nests or take some kind of countermeasure.

Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. I truly appreciate your kindness, including adding breakfast for us at short notice at check-in and all the other thoughtful help. Regarding an incident in the bath (likely involving an inbound guest), someone left the shower running, left foam on the floor, and kept the door to the open-air bath open. It also seemed that someone wore off with another person’s slippers, so I think it would be helpful to provide guests with a written notice at check-in explaining proper bath etiquette. (As for slippers, attaching numbered clips or clothespins could solve this.) This was an Accommodation where I would love to stay again, so I hope to visit again in the future. We stayed for one night and two days with dinner and breakfast included for four people. The traditional house, delicious meals, and the warm hospitality of the proprietress were very soothing. The building is a bit old, but it made us feel like we were visiting a relative’s home. However, perhaps because some walls are thin, noise from upstairs and downstairs carries through, so it may bother some guests.

Five middle-aged men stayed here together. The building itself has a historic feel, but the interior is well maintained and clean, so it didn’t feel particularly old. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying in both quantity and quality, with a great balance for enjoying drinks as well. The white rice cooked over firewood at the end of the meal was especially delicious. We’d love to return next time with our family.

I visited “Haretara Iine” on a friend’s recommendation. It had a warm, homey atmosphere, and the owner and staff were cheerful and friendly, taking the time to speak with each guest. The meals were excellent, with plenty of local vegetables—beautifully presented and delicious. The bath was spacious as well, and it really helped me relax. Thank you very much.

The building is old, but this is a very cozy Accommodation that makes you want to come back. They accept up to three groups per day; the toilet and washbasin are outside the Room, but they are assigned for your exclusive use, and the Onsen is also reserved privately by time slot. We stayed one night and used it three times in total. As they call themselves a cuisine-focused Accommodation, the food was delicious and more than enough. The owner trained at a soba restaurant, and his handmade soba is served at the end—hearty portions and extremely satisfying. The chicken offal stew and horse sashimi were also excellent. On top of that, chatting with the handsome owner was so much fun that we’re definitely coming back. We visited in summer this time, but we’d like to visit in autumn next time.

The Accommodation was very clean and well maintained. It felt newer than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Dinner was stylish and delicious, with plenty of great dishes—I’m glad I chose the plan with dinner included. The open-air bath was an Onsen, and it warmed me up comfortably. This is an Accommodation I can recommend, and I’d love to stay again.

It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as the Reviews said! Because it’s located up in the mountains, the air is crisp and clear, and the stars in the night sky are simply beautiful. Even though it was August, the nighttime temperature was around 23°C and pleasantly cool—an ideal summer retreat. Bringing protection against insect bites is recommended. The building itself is old, but the Room is spacious, and everything—including the bath—was impeccably clean, not even a single hair out of place. Every dish was delicious, with just the right portion sizes, and we were extremely satisfied. It had a warm, homey atmosphere that felt like being back at my parents’ house, and meeting an adorable cat at night was so soothing. I’d love to stay again!

We stayed here with a large group in January. First of all, the traditional kura-style building is truly one of a kind. It has been beautifully renovated to suit modern needs while preserving the charm of classic Japanese architecture. It’s even more impressive in person than in photos, and you can really enjoy the building itself—perfect for anyone who loves architecture. The living room feels incredibly open, and even with a big group it never felt cramped. The kitchen was surprisingly spacious, and it was stocked with more than enough cookware and appliances. There was also a great variety of tableware, all stylish, which made cooking even more enjoyable. The dishwasher in particular was large and high-performance, making cleanup easy even for a big group. There are multiple bedrooms as well, so everyone can rest comfortably. This Accommodation is ideal for the purpose of “staying together as a large group and relaxing.” Overall it’s very spacious, so we could spend time there without feeling self-conscious. We only ordered breakfast, but it was simple Japanese food and very delicious. For lunch and dinner we arranged our own meals—buying ingredients at nearby supermarkets (Tsuruya and AEON are conveniently close) and cooking ourselves—and that became part of the fun of the stay. With such well-equipped facilities, this place is especially recommended for those who enjoy cooking. Even though it was cold around New Year’s, the inside was warm and comfortable. The separate hinoki bathhouse was amazing; you heat the indoor bath yourself, but the scent of hinoki wood and the atmosphere were truly relaxing. There is also another bath in the main house (with a modern tub), which you can use as well—and we appreciated the thoughtful touch of underfloor heating in the changing area there. We were highly satisfied with everything—the space, facilities, and overall atmosphere—and would love to visit again in a different season.

Surrounded by the atmosphere of a wonderful, historic old castle, we were able to forget everyday life and spend a relaxing, special time together as a family. The view from the pool terrace was truly breathtaking. Spending time while looking out over Izu’s rich nature felt incredibly luxurious, and it left us refreshed to the core. It’s an outstanding location that feels soothing even just to gaze at the scenery. Our children absolutely loved the pool and were thrilled the moment we arrived! They enjoyed it again and again during our stay, smiling nonstop and saying, “We want to come back!” At the on-site museum, beautiful stained glass created a magical ambiance, and we were also able to listen to live pipe organ music—an indulgent moment that was deeply calming. Every dish at the café was delicious; the pizza and pasta were exceptional. Thanks to the staff’s thoughtful attention and warm hospitality, we felt comfortable and at ease even with small children. Not only the Accommodation but also the museum and café—the entire Facility is full of charm—making this a wonderfully fulfilling vacation that will stay in our family’s memories. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much for such a lovely time.

I stayed for one night with a friend. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, knitting while watching dramas, and spending time at a relaxed pace surrounded by nature! The cabin was well-equipped with various utensils and seasonings, which was very convenient. Additionally, the distance from neighboring cabins allowed us to enjoy our stay without worrying about others. I would love to visit other SANU locations as well!

I stayed for two nights in a cabin with a sauna in mid-April. Although it was closer to town than I expected, the location truly let me experience the “Live with nature” concept. Since I usually live near the sea, being surrounded by mountains felt refreshing. The air was so clear, and I had a wonderfully comfortable stay. The Room—its floors and furniture—was mostly made of wood, creating a soothing space that felt great on bare skin and made me want to spend the whole day there without even going outside. I also enjoyed both the sauna and the campfire at a relaxed pace. At the same time, if you drive out, there are plenty of charming cafes and restaurants nearby, making it perfect for a food-focused trip as well. The email sent before check-in included detailed information about the base’s Facility and amenities, as well as tips about the surrounding area, which helped me plan my trip. Even without staff on-site, I felt warm hospitality. One delightful surprise was being greeted by monkeys when I stepped outside in the morning—it made nature feel even closer. If you want to enjoy both slow time here and sightseeing around the area, I strongly recommend staying at least two nights! Next time, I’d love to stay at another SANU location too.

This was my first time visiting Yoshino. The cherry blossoms had not yet started to bloom, but we were shown to a Room with a wonderful view of the Ryokan’s courtyard. I can imagine how spectacular it must be when the blossoms are in full bloom. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were very delicious. The Onsen was just right, and I could enjoy it as many times as I liked without feeling unwell from the hot water.

The staff’s hospitality was wonderful, and we had a very pleasant stay. The meals were also delicious, and we were very satisfied. The view of Mt. Fuji from the Room and the large public bath was a real luxury! We would love to stay again someday.

This is our fourth summer stay, and Hakuba Mountainside never disappoints no matter how many times we visit. The Facility is always kept clean and comfortable, and the front desk and housekeeping staff are polite and friendly, making every stay truly pleasant. The kitchen is also very well equipped, with plenty of cookware for anyone who wants to enjoy serious home cooking. Our summer holiday starts with waking up to birdsong in the morning. We then enjoy a walk, followed by a leisurely lunch with fresh local vegetables and naturally leavened bread. In the afternoon we take a nap, and in the evening we head to Happo-no-Yu, famous for its highly alkaline waters. Soaking slowly while taking in the view from the open-air bath is pure bliss. At night we go to bed early with a book—this luxurious, peaceful day is something we repeat every year. And by the end of our trip—perhaps thanks to Happo-no-Yu—our skin feels wonderfully smooth and makeup goes on surprisingly well, which has become one of our annual pleasures too.

A year ago, due to heavy rain, we had to cancel our stay. Amid the lingering summer heat, we revisited after a year. This time, we had the pleasure of staying at a wonderful accommodation for one day. Renting an entire house with a view of Nara's mountains as the backdrop to the dry landscape garden, enjoying an evening beer was the perfect way to conclude summer. For dinner, there was a variety of alcoholic beverages available, and the shabu-shabu by the hearth was absolutely delicious. At night, gazing at a sky full of stars marked the end of our day. Knowing that this accommodation is run by your family made it feel very warm and welcoming during our stay. It was such happiness to spend a day doing nothing but relaxing peacefully— a truly special experience at Sasayuri-an. Thank you so much! We will definitely return again!

We used this accommodation for the first time during our annual three-generation trip and created wonderful memories in a fantastic room! Reason for choosing this room: - The photos of the room and location on IKYU.com were very beautiful. - The reviews had high ratings. Positive points: - Access to various modern appliances. - Spacious living room and bedrooms. - Air conditioning was already on at check-in. - Clean rooms. - Abundant amenities, including beauty face masks. - Three toilets, one on each floor. - Scenic ocean view. Areas for improvement: - The shower operation and bathtub buttons were difficult to understand; having instructions or guides would be helpful, especially for elderly guests or children unfamiliar with the equipment. - The refrigerator door was hard to open, and it didn’t cool well; while other appliances were modern, the refrigerator seemed like a basic model suitable for two-person households. It couldn’t chill beer properly, so we had to use the freezer. - When using the drying mode of the washer-dryer, a maintenance sign appeared, preventing it from drying clothes properly; as we left it running overnight in drying mode while sleeping, we found wet laundry in the morning which was disappointing. Maintenance seems necessary as cleaning access is not possible for guests. Overall impression: The spacious living area allowed all nine of us to dine together at a large table comfortably! With excellent facilities overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. There was also a guest notebook where everyone shared their delightful experiences! We look forward to staying here again!
