It was great! The rice in the Japanese meal was incredibly delicious—absolutely the best. I’d love to know what variety of rice it was!!!

We enjoyed a lot at the Hotel, playing mini-golf and swimming in the pool. If we had more time, it seemed fun to take the lift to enjoy the scenery and go hiking. I thought it was a good Hotel to stay with children and spend time leisurely. The bath was also nice, and the buffet restaurant was delicious and good.

We checked in around 9 PM after watching the Tateshina Lake Fireworks Festival. The gracious master warmly welcomed us. Looking at the wall, there was a jazz live poster. It was a pity that we missed a major artist's live performance by just one day. It's wonderful to have such a big band come to a pension, which is quite charming given the location. We used a room for four people with just the two of us, so it was very spacious. The beds were two single-sized ones, very comfortable with excellent cushioning and performance. The bath was a unit bath like in a regular household, with water replaced for each user, and there were two of them. There was plenty of hot water, which was nice. The toilet was shared, but it had a washlet, so there was no inconvenience. For example, there was no trash can or tissue in the room, but there were high-quality paper towels in the washroom. There was also a free lounge with a refrigerator, microwave, and various tableware that could be used freely, making it a very convenient system once you got used to it. It was a cold night with temperatures dropping below 10°C, but the room heater quietly and comfortably warmed the space. Breakfast was served by the owner couple on a single plate, but the salad with plenty of local vegetables was very fresh and delicious. The bread was all-you-can-eat, so those who want to eat a lot are welcome. Considering the price, I think it's a property with excellent cost performance. Next time, I would love to stay for the live performance. I wish the owner couple continued health and success.

The elaborate and heartfelt dishes were both visually appealing and delicious. Both the host and hostess were friendly, allowing us to have a very peaceful stay. The exterior and interior are both very charming and lovely, making it a delightful pension.

Very satisfied with the accommodation that feels like a private house.

This was my first time staying here. The road leading to the Hotel (Lodge) is quite steep. While it wasn’t an issue for our home, certain cars might struggle. The road is narrow, and the broken curve mirror made it a bit inconvenient to check around corners. Considering the price, the Room, meals, and service were satisfactory; however, my wife was disappointed that there was no salad bar as shown in the Hotel's promotional images. On a positive note, even though the sink, toilet, and bath were shared facilities, they were clean and very well-maintained. Please ensure that all images and information about the Hotel are kept up-to-date regularly.

The atmosphere of the Hotel gives an old impression. Some people mentioned this in the Review, and the building and interior felt like an old style. However, the Room is spacious and the price is relatively low. I felt the Hotel's consideration. I think it was better than other Hotels in terms of customer service, towels being placed in bags, and the preparation of bags for wet towels in the large public bath.

We stayed in a Japanese-style Room for 3 people. It was spacious enough and very relaxing. The large public bath was also great.

A perfect base for exploring Lake Toya and Sobetsu. Although located away from the center of Lake Toya Onsen, I was intrigued to learn that this area was part of the old national highway disrupted by the 2000 eruption, with detailed explanations provided. Truly a living history and geology textbook. The room is a renovated one-room apartment with a loft, spacious enough for a comfortable stay. In fact, it felt like a waste to use it alone. The entrance is equipped with a microwave and toaster, making it convenient for bringing in your own food. Since it's a renovated one-room apartment, the bathroom is small, but I was provided with discount tickets for Lake Toya Onsen, so it wasn't an issue at all. As long as you have your own transportation, this is a great accommodation. (In my case, I traveled by road bike, but note that the 1.5km route from the center of Lake Toya Onsen to this location has a 5% incline.) The nearby commercial facilities seem to have been abandoned due to the eruption, giving a desolate impression. However, the hotel and its owner exude warmth and determination, making me hope they continue their efforts for years to come. As I love Lake Toya as a tourist destination, I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in a second-floor Room at Yamashita Ryokan Annex for three nights starting June 17, but I was surprised to find ants in the toilet on the third night. As a guest, I have serious concerns about the Ryokan’s hygiene management. Please ensure this does not happen again in the future.

Stayed on the last day of Obon, 8/16. It was over 36°C in the lower areas that day, but thanks to the shade from the trees, it felt much cooler, and we were able to stay in the cottage without air conditioning. I was slightly worried due to reviews mentioning musty bedding, but there was no such issue, and we had a very comfortable stay. The next day, my daughter seemed to have lost her binoculars while playing mini-golf. When I inquired later, one of the staff members kindly searched around the mini-golf parking lot, benches, and course despite the heat. Although they couldn’t find it at that time, they later discovered it on another day at a further part of the course and contacted us by matching our memory with their accommodation records. My daughter cherished those binoculars for birdwatching and was thrilled when they were found. A big thank you to both the staff member who searched for them in such hot weather and those who eventually found them! Truly impressive service from PICA—your staff is top-notch! We will definitely visit again!

The staff were kind and helpful. Driving up the narrow mountain road in a rental car in the dark late at night was a bit unsettling. It’s better to arrive while it’s still light.

The building itself felt old and seemed like a former company retreat facility, but it was good that the room and bath were clean. If I had to say, I would have liked a TV in the room, but since the price was low, I was reasonably satisfied.

The meals—especially the BBQ dinner—were delicious. The Maeda beef steak was outstanding. Since we stayed at the Super Premium Site, it was convenient that we could drive directly onto the site. The spacious grounds also made our dogs very happy; seeing them run around excitedly was truly satisfying. It felt like a luxurious private dog run experience. The beds inside the tent were also extremely comfortable. The large public bath in the clubhouse was fairly standard, but I appreciated the free massage chair in the changing room. One downside was that although there is an air cooler and a fan inside the tent, they didn’t work effectively at all. (It was comfortable from sunset until early morning, but during summer daytime it felt like a greenhouse—unbearable!) I recommend staying outside the tent during the day. It was also very inconvenient that there is no toilet on-site; if you see this as part of embracing outdoor inconveniences (no toilet, no refrigerator, no air conditioning, etc.), then it might be acceptable—but if you advertise it as a Super Premium Site, I honestly wish basic comfort (at least a toilet and heating/cooling) were provided. (Especially given that it wasn’t cheap.) There is a small cabin on the site with air conditioning and it was wonderfully cool, but it’s so small and empty that I did wonder whether it makes sense to pay such a high rate only to spend most of your time in that cabin… After check-in there isn’t really anywhere else cool within the site, so you end up taking refuge in this cabin, staying in your car with A/C on, or going to the clubhouse… Since the tent itself is so lovely, it would have been ideal if we could have spent most of our time comfortably inside it. I also strongly felt how convenient it would be if there were a toilet inside that air-conditioned cabin. Since you have to walk to the clubhouse restroom each time, you need to keep reminding yourself to go before it becomes urgent. (Waiting until your limit might be tough!) Unfortunately we couldn’t see the starry sky at night because of bad weather—it was disappointing—but I’d love to come back for another try next time, aiming for a more comfortable season! All staff members were very kind and made our stay pleasant. Thank you very much.

There are about three separate houses available for exclusive rental, and I stayed in one of them. Thank you for upgrading me on the day and letting me stay in a newer place. It feels more like a guesthouse than a Hotel. I was traveling alone, so it actually felt too spacious. The Room and the bathroom were large and clean. The parking area was also spacious and easy to use. Use of the washing machine and purchasing food or drinks on-site are optional add-ons. Thank you for your hospitality.

This is my second stay. The Room is thoroughly cleaned, feels very fresh, and is extremely comfortable. However, the stairs are steep and there are steps, so it may be a bit difficult for guests with weak legs or mobility issues. That said, the best part is that natural Onsen water comes directly from the bathroom faucet. It’s a private Onsen bathroom. The water temperature is just right, so you can soak and relax at your own pace. Lake Suwa spreads out right in front of you across the road from the building—amazing views. It was cherry blossom season, and we were able to enjoy hanami at a leisurely pace. It was a very comfortable trip.

As mentioned in other Reviews, the building undeniably feels old. However, I think it’s a very good Hotel that leaves a positive impression, with clear efforts to improve seen throughout. *There were free tea dispensers and water dispensers (as of March 2026).* *It was a weekday stay, and the Wi‑Fi speed was around 240 Mbps.* The meals are delicious, and the portions feel generous. *It might feel a bit insufficient for teenagers going through puberty...* *They were able to accommodate allergies as well—please inquire in advance.* I stayed during ski/snowboard season, and I think the cost performance is good. Above all! The staff are very kind. I would like to stay again.

This is the Accommodation I always stay at for diving. After finishing a dive, you can return to your Room still in your swimsuit, which is very convenient. The service is more than adequate for an Accommodation attached to a dive shop. The Rooms are well cleaned and equipped with a bidet toilet seat, so it’s one of the island Accommodations where you can stay with peace of mind. However, prices have been rising year by year, and I’d be happy if the in-room Wi‑Fi signal strength and the quality of the breakfast buffet improved a bit.

We stayed as a family of three. While the location is a bit inconvenient without a car due to its distance from the station, the beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere made up for it. From our room, we enjoyed stunning views of snow-capped mountains in the distance. The bath was pleasantly warm, allowing us to relax and relieve our fatigue. It was a wonderful trip where we could visit places like Moto-Zenkoji Temple, Iida's attractions, and Tenryu Gorge. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We missed visiting the Central Tectonic Line Museum in Oshika Village this time, but we look forward to staying here again when we plan to go there!

I stayed here solo. Check-in was at the front desk on the first floor of the building across the street. The building where I stayed did not seem to have staff on-site, but it was reassuring that there was a front desk in the building opposite. The Room was simple, the linens were clean, and the shared toilets and bath were also clean. I would like to stay here again when I visit Chino.
