It was wonderful to experience the atmosphere of a Swiss Hotel. We were glad we could reserve the bath for private family use, and we were able to use it without any waiting time.

It was a truly wonderful Accommodation. The Room, meals, and Onsen were all completely satisfying. The staff were also very kind, and we were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay. We also enjoyed the nature of Norikura, and it is an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again. Thank you very much.

Staying at Accommodations is my hobby, and I also work in a related field, so I tend to notice a lot of things. When I arrived and saw the building from the outside, I was a little disappointed, but once inside everything was very clean. Many of the staff seemed new, but their earnest efforts despite being unfamiliar with the work genuinely impressed me. Even though I can get irritated easily, I forgot all about it here. The Room had an open-air bath, it was fairly close to the parking lot, the food was delicious, and it offered great value for money! There wasn’t any mist when looking up above either—overall, for a traditional Onsen Ryokan, it was wonderful and I had a truly pleasant time. I will definitely come again soon.

The building is old, but the Room is spacious and clean. The bath facilities were great, especially the barrel sauna. There was also a barrel sauna by the pool, so we could enjoy using the pool as a cold plunge. Meals are buffet-style, tasty, and with a wide variety of dishes. The rates are reasonably affordable, giving the impression of a well-balanced Resort Hotel. If possible, I would like the pool hours to be extended a bit longer.

This accommodation is highly recommended for a multiple night stay. One night is simply not enough. There are plenty of experiences to enjoy, such as cooking in a fully equipped kitchen, gathering herbs on the property, watching movies with a projector, reading books available in the room, grinding and brewing your own coffee beans, and sitting by the campfire. During this visit, I stayed for one night and felt reluctant to leave. I promised my friends that we would definitely come back again. The open space with high ceilings and large windows was incredibly pleasant. Next time, I plan to stay longer to enjoy drawing, knitting, reading books, relaxing in the sauna, or taking walks. This is the perfect place to escape from the busyness of city life and take time to reconnect with yourself—highly recommended!

A luxuriously designed, calm Hotel for adults. Both the meals and service were very satisfying. The semi-open-air jacuzzi was also available, so it felt like we had it all to ourselves. Personally, it would be best if the bed were a bit softer. It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as the highly rated Reviews said.

We stayed here for a family trip. The property was very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was delicious, and we were able to enjoy the main steak freshly grilled. Thanks to Oyama no Endo, it was a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days! On the evening of our arrival, we enjoyed a BBQ at the Glamorous Dining area. Everything was delicious—especially the bone-in pork, which was tender, flavorful, and outstanding. We also grilled the dessert apples and marshmallows perfectly, and they were very tasty. The Weber gas grill was large and easy to use; the meat grilled lightly as excess fat dripped away, while the vegetables turned out sweet and juicy. We truly enjoyed everything that makes a BBQ special. The weather was only good on the day we arrived, and unfortunately it rained for the remaining two days, so our pickleball plans were canceled. Instead, we took a trip to Matsumoto for soba noodles and enjoyed an Onsen, which made for a relaxing stay overall. The Facility is old, but the Room was spacious and easy to use. We’d love to come back again when the weather is better.

I made a Reservation in a hurry due to unforeseen circumstances and ended up making several mistakes, but the front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Although the building and Facility feel a bit dated, the room was more spacious than expected, I was able to fully relax and enjoy the Onsen, and breakfast was properly prepared and delicious. Overall, I was more satisfied than I had imagined. I would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

After the Obon holidays, we stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights starting on August 17. We found this Hotel at the last minute the day before and were really lucky to get a Reservation. We didn’t have high expectations, but both the Shirakaba Lake area and this Hotel were very lively with many guests. We had heard it was an older building, but it didn’t feel that way much. It was well maintained, our Room had no unpleasant odors, and the toilet had a washlet, which was great. The large public bath was quite spacious, and there was also an open-air bath (the water was a bit hot). Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, so we could choose what we liked. Guests who enjoy alcohol were happy with the 90-minute all-you-can-drink option. The dining hall could accommodate many people and had a warm atmosphere. For summer vacation season, the price for two nights was reasonable and we were very satisfied and able to relax. We would like to stay again.

If you’d like the rice and miso soup served earlier at dinner, it’s best to ask. (I’m not sure about the Ryokan’s unspoken rules, but if you don’t say anything, they seem to ask near the end—just before dessert—and will bring them if needed.) Breakfast had a bit more pickles and pre-made dishes than expected, so I would have appreciated a few more freshly cooked warm items.

It was my first visit in a while. I used to go once a year, so I’m practically a regular. The Hotel staff even remembered me and were considerate about my allergies and foods I don’t like. I always stay in the Spa Living room, and the hot stone sauna had been replaced with a sauna, which was also great. The service is truly excellent—everyone is wonderful. They are polite, but also make your stay enjoyable. I definitely want to come again next year.

We stayed with two adults, one 4-year-old, and one 2-year-old. The meals were amazing! Great value for the price, all-you-can-drink alcohol, and they even lent us small forks—very helpful when traveling with kids. Also, when our child insisted on sitting at a table for six in the dining area, a male staff member wearing glasses kindly let us use it. Thank you so much! All of the other staff were pleasant as well. I think it’s more worth staying here than at a Hotel that is simply clean but overpriced! My back usually hurts from sleeping on futons in Japanese-style rooms, but this futon was thicker than those at other hotels, so it helped a bit. Since this is a historic Hotel, there were some areas like cobwebs in the Room and a slightly dirty sink, but I think the quality is more than sufficient for this price. We had no problems during our stay. We’d love to stay again!

I made a Reservation feeling uneasy because the negative Reviews stuck with me. In the end, if you don’t expect too much, you can be satisfied. The sukiyaki catering was generous and very satisfying. Breakfast was not a buffet; it was served individually, so we could eat at a relaxed pace. Drinks, rice, and pork miso soup were self-serve with free refills. Since it was cool enough to feel cold that day, our dog stayed in a crate in the car. Honestly, it’s inconvenient that check-in/out and breakfast are at a Hotel about 5 minutes away by car. You’re given a map for the cottage, but it’s extremely hard to understand. I wish they would place arrows or signs at key turning points on site. The roads are narrow, and at night you will definitely get lost. The short set of stairs from where you park to the cottage is tough. With lots of luggage for both people and our dog, you can’t use a cart. It probably depends on the Room, but there was a full set of kitchen items, which was very convenient. No seasonings are provided. The large refrigerator and having plastic wrap available were small but helpful touches. The tap water is drinkable as-is, but if that bothers you, it’s better to bring your own drinks. The refrigerator is empty. There was only one bath towel and one small towel (the size you’d take into an Onsen bath area) per person, which was inconvenient—I’d love two of each. Also, please provide newer towels; the dog towels were fluffier and I honestly couldn’t tell which were for people. I was very concerned about dampness in the closet where the bedding is stored and in the connected wardrobe area. They should manage this with a dehumidifier. The insects I worried about were within an acceptable range; given the surrounding environment it can’t really be helped—if you can’t handle bugs, it’s better to look for another Accommodation. The building is honestly old, but the Facility has been updated and everything was kept clean. Because it’s a detached building unit, it was very quiet and we could relax slowly. There were no loungewear pajamas and amenities are minimal—so it’s different from staying at a Hotel—but checkout is 11:00 so we could take our time. We were able to spend time at our family’s pace and were very satisfied overall. It might also be nice to skip meals altogether—shop at places like Tsuruya or local supermarkets/roadside stations—and prepare things yourself instead. That way you can stay with your dog all day too.

My first trip to Nikko felt far from Osaka, but I was finally able to visit Ritz, which I had wanted to go to for so long. It was such an extraordinary experience and incredibly refreshing. The weather wasn’t great, but the temperature was 10°C lower than in Osaka, which made it very comfortable. The Room was beautiful and had a view of Lake Chuzenji. Above all, the Onsen was the best! At first, I thought the sulfur scent was quite strong when I stepped in, but the water left my skin silky smooth—I wanted to soak in it every day. That night we had burgers via in-room dining; they were hearty, delicious, and left us completely satisfied! I also chose the Japanese breakfast I had been looking forward to, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. We used the shuttle bus as well. I thought I might get carsick on Irohazaka, but the driver’s careful and skillful driving really impressed me. It became a truly wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

An Accommodation on the shores of Lake Chuzenji in Oku-Nikko. We stayed here as a base for trekking routes to Kotoku Marsh, Yudaki Falls, and Ryuzu Falls. From the drink service in the lobby onward, it is a very relaxing Accommodation. We were also very satisfied with the Onsen and the meals.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. We stayed here during our trip to Norikura. It rained all day, so it was a disappointing day, but the Onsen at Misuzuso and the delicious dinner were truly soothing and turned it into a wonderful day. We used the coin laundry. We didn’t know how to use it, but the staff kindly showed us, and everyone was very courteous. Thank you again.

Our trip with two Toy Poodles and our family of four was so much fun! It was our first time staying overnight with our dogs, and also our first time at an Accommodation that welcomes pets. The Facility was well equipped, beautiful, and very clean. I have a dog allergy so I was worried, but I had no issues. The Onsen was amazing! We were concerned it might be hot since there is no air conditioning, but it was surprisingly cool for midsummer and very comfortable. Meals were described as a half buffet, so we expected only a few options, but there was a great variety of dishes and everything was delicious. They also had draft beer, and the drink selection was excellent. There was even a buffet for dogs, plus a snack corner. The photo spot and the lovely dog run were also fantastic! Yahoo Travel has a high Point Rate, and you can use your Earn Points in advance, so it felt like a much better deal than other sites. It looks like there are many affiliated Hotels as well, so we would definitely like to stay again.

I visit Sugadaira every summer, so I check early, but I can never get a Reservation. This time I happened to get one, so it was my first stay. The area around the Hotel is very quiet, and the view from the Room is wonderful. After soaking in the Onsen, my skin stayed moisturized for a while. Everyone—the front desk staff and restaurant staff—was very pleasant and welcoming, and I had a truly enjoyable time. The buffet made great use of fresh vegetables and was thoughtfully prepared rather than relying on cheap pre-made sauces. It was delicious. Since it’s so hard to secure an Accommodation Reservation here, I’d come just for the meal alone. There were also many thoughtful touches: a sheet listing the names of the mountains visible from the Room window, places to hang clothes throughout the Room (probably for winter ski wear), a towel for wiping around the washbasin, and a cube-shaped power strip with five outlets. It’s a Hotel with great attention to detail. If I can get another Reservation, I would definitely like to stay again.

It was a wonderful Room with a stunning view of rolling hills and distant mountains. The meals were beautifully presented, highly original Japanese cuisine, and the distinctive tableware—together with the interior—created a strong sense of cohesive style. The service was also pleasant, and their dedication really came through. Thank you for allowing us to spend such a relaxing, peaceful time.
