I had the pleasure of revisiting the enchanting Sasayuri-an. After an unforgettable experience at "Kozuno," this time I stayed in another building, "Zao." About a month ago, I was fortunate to connect with Sasayuri-an and was deeply touched by the warmth of the owners. Since then, I eagerly anticipated my return. My expectations were high due to my previous wonderful stay, but this visit exceeded them in every way. The moment we stepped inside, everyone let out a gasp of awe—it felt like stepping into another world. This 150-year-old traditional thatched-roof house is a perfect blend of historical beauty and modern comfort, truly a hidden gem. The stunning terraced rice fields visible through the windows and the star-filled night sky created an extraordinary atmosphere. The space is both majestic and refined yet evokes a nostalgic sense of comfort. Above all, the exceptional hospitality from the owners provided deep relaxation. The owner's passion for detail is evident everywhere—from beams relocated from a 400-year-old structure to speakers once used by Ryuichi Sakamoto—making every conversation with him fascinating and inspiring. Despite visiting in February's cold weather, thoughtful touches like fireplaces, discreetly placed air conditioners that preserve aesthetic harmony, and oil heaters along hallways ensured warmth throughout this spacious accommodation. The owner also practices as a Yamabushi (mountain ascetic) alongside managing his business. During our stay, we had rare opportunities to experience waterfall meditation and fire rituals under his guidance while enjoying stories about Shugendo around an irori hearth—a truly memorable experience! Evenings were spent chatting by irori flames or soaking in herbal baths within cypress tubs to unwind completely; mornings began with delicious coffee paired with breathtaking views of Japan’s timeless rural landscape—a blissful retreat indeed. Sasayuri-an offers an unparalleled escape from urban chaos where both mind and body can rejuvenate fully—a genuinely special place worth cherishing forever! Although we rarely revisit accommodations multiple times ourselves here feels different; it’s somewhere precious enough always wanting return alongside loved ones again someday soon! With facilities such as pizza ovens BBQ setups campfire areas ready springtime glamping plans already excite us looking forward next visit ahead!

This detached house is located in front of a pond, and we had a very comfortable stay. A convenience store is within walking distance, and a supermarket is a short drive away. You can also enjoy BBQs and fireworks in the garden, and the area is very quiet. However, the bed squeaked, and I woke up every time I turned over. I think it would be good to improve this.

I made a reservation as a birthday gift for my beloved. Wanting him to refresh from daily fatigue in the countryside, we enjoyed the perfect space and time. The place was clean, calming, and comfortable even though it was our first visit. The indoor charcoal grill experience was fantastic. Ingredients were well-prepared and easy to use, with the option to bring additional items for cooking—meals were truly satisfying. At night, we enjoyed drinks together, had deeper conversations than usual, and spent an incredibly fulfilling time. We definitely want to come back here together again!

Everything you need is provided. The host is very friendly. Great location. The projector is old, so it’s best not to rely on it. No issues with the Wi‑Fi, and the iPad was a big help. Ideal for guests who don’t mind a compact space and plan to cook their own meals.

We stayed for one night as a family of five. From the beginning, the staff provided courteous service when we informed them about our late check-in. After purchasing ingredients, we enjoyed a barbecue upon arrival, and they even helped us (almost entirely) with lighting the charcoal. We were given freshly picked vegetables from that morning, which were incredibly fresh and delicious. When we ran out of ice and planned to buy more, they quickly went out of their way to get it for us. The facility was stylish and exceptional, with cleanliness maintained to perfection. From arrival to check-out, their attentive service and hospitality left us deeply impressed—undoubtedly the best accommodation we've ever stayed at! Above all, the warmth and kindness of the staff stood out most. I can confidently recommend this place to others!

This was my second stay. It was very disappointing that the weather did not allow us to see Mt. Fuji, but the view of Lake Yamanaka in the rain and the autumn leaves were nice in their own way! There were some crumbs like snacks on the floor near the window, but everything else was very clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant stay. I thought it would be nice if there were mops or vacuum cleaners available for guests to use when they make a mess, so they can clean up themselves and maintain a higher level of hygiene. I also wished for some bath cleaning supplies for reheating the bath. The amenities are excellent.

Note: The email provides two phone numbers, but one is incorrect (please address this issue). You can choose between in-person or online check-in when asked by staff. For online check-in, procedures differ for domestic and international guests, so confirm over the phone beforehand. If you prefer simplicity, in-person check-in is recommended. 【Facilities】 The accommodation is very clean. All rooms are equipped with floor heating and individual air conditioners for maximum comfort. Each room has a private toilet and shower (the second-floor room includes a bathtub), ensuring privacy. The living room features high ceilings with an incredible sense of openness; however, while large windows offer great views, there are no blinds in the living area—this may be uncomfortable for some guests despite minimal surroundings. The semi-open-air bath on the first floor is spacious enough to accommodate 3–4 adult men at once comfortably but lacks a changing area (possibly designed for direct use after skiing using the laundry space near the entrance). Note that it’s visible from outside through its windows—likely from neighboring villas—so additional privacy measures would be appreciated. The kitchen is well-equipped with dishes and cooking utensils (though no measuring cup was available). Guests need to bring their own seasonings but will find it highly functional overall. Used dishes can simply be placed into the dishwasher. A baby crib can be borrowed free of charge if requested in advance (floor-sleeping type). Additionally, all rooms feature twin beds; however, according to staff members, they can rearrange them into a double bed layout upon request. 【Check-out】 Guests are told they may leave freely without any formalities at checkout time; however, confirming this process during your stay might provide peace of mind. 【Overall Experience】 The living room sofa was very comfortable to sit on, and we enjoyed watching TV on its large screen—it was an incredibly relaxing stay overall! We look forward to staying here again!

Located in a nature-rich area of Hakuba, this accommodation offers a relaxing experience surrounded by natural beauty. The garden is equipped with facilities for barbecues and campfires, allowing guests to enjoy meals while listening to the sounds of birds. The rooms are exceptional, each featuring its own toilet and bath/shower room. Additionally, the top floor boasts a stone-built bath resembling an Onsen, which we enjoyed multiple times. There are two living rooms so spacious that it was hard to decide where to settle in. Conveniently located near all attractions in Hakuba, with ski slopes just nearby, it’s perfect for morning walks.

A renovated traditional Japanese house Accommodation located at the top of a mountain road. The old beams and fittings have been preserved or beautifully repurposed, so it doesn’t feel outdated at all. Since the owner built it personally, there are a few small details that may feel slightly unfinished, but the space is very comfortable, with thoughtful touches in the furniture and decor throughout. I asked to change the schedule at short notice, and they kindly accommodated my request, which I truly appreciated. For the barbecue, they also showed us—together with our child—how to prepare the firewood and charcoal, which made our child very happy. It became a wonderful summer memory for us.

The facilities were sophisticated, and I was very satisfied! The weather was amazing, and I felt healed by the blue sky, sea, breeze, and sound of the waves. The location was also fantastic. If I may suggest for future consideration, we brought our pet along, but there were small gaps at the entrance and in the corner of the dog run where our pet escaped twice. Thankfully, a neighbor noticed and quickly secured them, but it made us quite anxious. Another suggestion would be to have a TV in the first-floor bedroom as well. Even so, we were extremely satisfied. We look forward to visiting again during a different season. Thank you very much!

We stayed here on a touring trip with friends. Being able to have a barbecue on the terrace was fantastic. We’d love to stay again.

It was the end of summer vacation, and only one other group was staying there. We had a barbecue by the pool and bought seafood (shrimp and shellfish) at nearby Uotaro to eat. The Room was spacious, and there were chairs on the terrace as well. We were able to spend a relaxing time. The open-air bath in the guest room was excellent, and our family used it many times. We’d like to visit again.

I was worried about bears, but the manager explained that because Suganuma Campground is at a high elevation and too cold, acorns and other bear food do not grow there. As a result, it cannot become a feeding area for bears, so they generally do not come to the campground or its surroundings since there is nothing for them to eat. Hearing that reassured me and I was able to stay with peace of mind.

The cottage was very comfortable with air conditioning and floor heating, making it easy to relax. We brought only the essentials and enjoyed a peaceful time surrounded by nature. The sound of the river in the morning was right nearby, and combined with great weather, it was a perfect location. The shower room and toilet were impeccably clean, which was wonderful. Additionally, the staff's service was very polite and kind, allowing us to stay with peace of mind. Thank you very much!

I usually stay in hotels as I am not a fan of camping or glamping, but this time I had no issues at all. Although I was initially concerned about the restroom and bath being separate, they were very close by, so it wasn't a problem. However, it might be slightly challenging for families with small children. The staff were extremely flexible and accommodating, which I greatly appreciated. While we originally planned to eat outside, we ended up ordering pizza and pasta from the on-site café and had them delivered to our room. The pizza was much larger than expected and very satisfying. We ordered peperoncino pasta as well; it was a bit spicy, so it might not be suitable for children. Since it was winter, the wind from the lake made it slightly cold, but visiting during a more pleasant season could make the experience even better. The sound of the water surface was soothing throughout our stay. Thank you for your kindness! We look forward to visiting again in the future. The Onsen could be reserved depending on availability; during our visit, we were able to enjoy private use of it. One minor concern: while walking around at night near the cabin area, some bare tree branches came close to my face which felt a bit scary. It might be harder for children to notice such things—addressing this could ensure greater safety moving forward!

Everything exceeded our expectations, and we were very satisfied. It felt like they had everything you could wish for, so we were able to stay very conveniently and comfortably. We did have trouble because the air conditioner in one Room wasn’t working well, and we were also concerned about scratches on the frying pan. However, the glasses and plates provided were so cute that it was a joy to use them—we even looked around to see if they were sold anywhere. We would definitely like to stay again.

We stayed with two families and found the space and layout to be more than sufficient. The single-story design is reassuring for families with small children. We were especially satisfied with the well-equipped amenities, including a washing machine and coffee maker. There were enough towels in the room for everyone, and we appreciated having unlimited access to the Onsen. [To the Facility] Since we visited after playing in the snow nearby, it would be even more convenient if there were hanger racks to dry our wearables and shoe trays to dry shoes indoors. Additionally, there were only large deep plates available; having some smaller ones would be nice. It would also be helpful if you could include a floor plan of the room and a list of amenities on your website so that guests can better prepare their stay.

Thank you for allowing us to spend a relaxing time. The wonderful Room had a wood stove, and the dinner was a boar hot pot that was more than we could eat. The next day, it turned into a beautiful snowy landscape, becoming an early white Christmas. Even our shy dog seemed to warm up to the owner. They are a gentle and kind person.

I stayed at the end of February, and I was grateful that the Room was warmed up as I had informed them of my check-in time. All Rooms were kept clean, allowing for a pleasant stay. There were also amenities provided, and coffee was available. We enjoyed playing card games with the children. The view of Setouchi from the living room with a large kotatsu was beautiful, and I would like to visit in different seasons as well.
