At first, I hesitated to make a reservation since there was no large public bath, but the highly-rated meals convinced me to go ahead. This was the best accommodation I've ever stayed at. Each dish felt carefully prepared and was incredibly delicious. There was plenty of my favorite sashimi, lots of seasonal vegetables, and a healthy menu that left me very satisfied. Although I felt quite full, the portions were just right so I could finish everything without leaving any food behind (which would have made me feel guilty and wasteful). The second night's dinner especially impressed me with its variety—sashimi, simmered fish, fried fish, fish Meunière—and even meat dishes were included! There was an onsen within walking distance right behind the hotel where I could enjoy soaking despite there being no large public bath onsite. The rooftop sauna also felt amazing. I tried SUP for the first time and found it easy to ride and fun! Being able to go directly from my room in swimwear made it super convenient. If I have another chance to visit, I'd definitely love to stay here again!

During this Go To Travel campaign, I stayed at about 13 properties, and the meals here were the best—just as you’d expect from a kaiseki Ryokan. Everyone should visit at least once.

I stayed here during the Obon holiday. I came thinking, “The view looks nice, and as long as I can sleep well, that’s enough,” but in the best way possible, my expectations were completely exceeded. This time I stayed in a Japanese-style room before the renovation, and it felt very clean. The futon was fluffy, and above all, the view from the window was amazing. The Onsen wasn’t overly large and had a calm, relaxing atmosphere, so I was able to unwind at a leisurely pace. Most memorable of all was the warm hospitality from the wonderful owner couple and all of the staff. Of course the Accommodation itself is very comfortable, but I think what makes you want to come back is this kind of genuine warmth from people. On top of that, at check-out there was an exclusive service for guests: a photo shoot by the owner, who is also a professional photographer! The beautiful photo data were later sent by email as well—it became an unexpected and very happy memory. I also heard they are continuing to renovate parts of the building little by little even now, so it’s exciting to see how it changes with each visit. I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of Accommodation it will become in the future. Even though I went planning “just to stay overnight,” I came home with wonderful memories—including the scenery, the Onsen, and meeting such kind people. I would definitely love to visit again. *This isn’t directly related to Hotel services, but please note that the entrance from the street can be a bit hard to find, and some parts of the road leading up to this Accommodation are narrow. If you’re coming by car, it may help to drive carefully on your way here.*

With tasteful interior design and attentive hospitality, it felt special yet as relaxing as being at home, and we had a truly comfortable stay. They even floated large citrus fruits in the bath, and the wonderful fragrance was so soothing. Our child loved it too. All essential amenities were provided. Dinner was clearly prepared with great care, dish by dish, and the flavors were exactly to our liking! The beer was perfectly ice-cold, and we still find ourselves saying, “I want that beer again.” The tableware was beautiful—just looking at it was delightful and made our conversation even more enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious across the board, but the Saikyo-yaki in particular was so tender that we couldn’t stop eating rice. My husband especially liked the atsuage tofu and said, “I’ve never had atsuage this good before.” After breakfast, we relaxed together over coffee served in stylish cups and enjoyed a slow pace for the first time in a while. We visited with my parents-in-law, and they were very happy as well. You can truly feel their spirit of hospitality—it’s easy to see why so many guests return. If we have another chance to visit Shizuoka, we would love to stay again. Finding such a wonderful Accommodation made this trip unforgettable. Thank you very much.

We stayed as a family (6 adults, 2 children, and 1 dog). The high ceilings, cleanliness, and spaciousness made our stay very comfortable. Despite the extreme summer heat, a small pool was provided for the children to cool off and have fun. With games and karaoke available, we didn’t need to bring additional entertainment—it was more than enough to enjoy. We prepared our own meals, but the kitchen was well-equipped with utensils and cooking tools. A couple of points we noticed: the shower water pressure was weak (even after following instructions to turn off the outdoor bathtub), and despite setting the air conditioning to 18°C at maximum fan speed, it still felt warm indoors—likely due to the 37°C heat outside combined with high ceilings and good sunlight exposure. Overall, we were very satisfied! We’re already talking about coming back during colder months to enjoy using the fireplace. We’d love to stay again—thank you so much!

The pool was absolutely satisfying, with float rings provided, which was a thoughtful touch for those who can't swim—something not often seen in other villas. The sauna had the perfect temperature, allowing us to sweat and feel refreshed. The pet-friendly Room was wonderful, and they even gifted us a blanket! The restroom smelled amazing; I even wanted to know what they used so I could use it at home. We stayed here for a birthday celebration and had an incredible time thanks to this place. Thank you so much! We look forward to staying here again in the future. Also, we loved the design of the sofa and speakers—the designer has excellent taste! Highly recommended for everyone!

We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate our grandson's 2nd birthday. The spacious layout was more than enough for five people, and we were thrilled with the large outdoor area. The barbecue facilities, bath, sauna, and open-air bath were all spotless and perfect. The couple who welcomed us were incredibly kind, making our stay very pleasant. At night, we even enjoyed a snowy (sleet) view as a delightful surprise—likely the first snow experience for our grandson. Thank you so much for everything!

The Facility itself feels a bit dated, but the meals were delicious, with many dishes featuring seasonal local ingredients. The Onsen water was also excellent, and the Room had a reliable internet connection. Overall, we were very satisfied.

I stayed for three nights and had a truly fulfilling time! Surrounded by nature, I enjoyed valuable experiences that are hard to come by in everyday life. The Accommodation had a warm atmosphere, and the owner was very kind, so I felt at ease and could relax. Breakfast and dinner were included, and both were generous portions! There was a wide variety of dishes, and every meal left me completely satisfied—dining was one of the highlights of my stay. Staying three nights allowed me to enjoy the Accommodation’s charm at a more leisurely pace, making it a wonderful memory. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much!

The sukiyaki was delicious. I saw a Review saying the portion was small, but rice refills are unlimited, so I’m sure you’ll be satisfied. You can also order extra meat only (2,500 yen per serving?). It was amazing.

It was my first time staying in a Room where the air conditioning was so strong that I thought, “It’s cold!” right after check-in. The cooling worked very well, so I’d like to come again in summer. The location was also great, with an entertainment district nearby. However, you can hear conversations from the hallway fairly clearly, so it may not be suitable for light sleepers or those sensitive to noise.

We had a wonderful holiday with six friends. The views are amazing, and the villa is fantastic. The free-flowing Onsen was also excellent. We’re already planning to return in the autumn season.

We stayed in the largest building (01) with 4 adults and 2 children. The bathroom was spacious, including the washing area, which was very convenient. The jacuzzi was relaxing and helped relieve fatigue. There was only one set of bath salts and lotion provided, so bringing our own turned out to be a good idea. For dinner, we enjoyed a barbecue with plenty of meat but fewer vegetables. The sauce was delicious, and everyone used it generously—almost running out! If you eat a lot, bringing extras like sausages might be helpful. We brought some salads this time, which made for just the right amount of food. The grill had weak heat and seemed designed to be used with the lid closed. The gaps in the grill mesh were large enough that smaller pieces of meat fell through, so we ended up using an iron plate for cooking instead—resulting in more steamed dishes than grilled ones. Next time, we'll bring finer mesh for grilling. Breakfast included about 10 varieties of savory and sweet bread rolls (two pieces each). All were delicious and there was plenty to go around! Bringing kitchen scissors would allow everyone to share small portions and try different types more easily. One child in our group is picky about food; we realized afterward that requesting simple options like plain rolls or croissants would have been better. Overall, everyone had a great time—we were very satisfied! We couldn't hear any noise from neighboring buildings despite having kids who got quite loud at times; it felt nice not having to worry about disturbing others or being disturbed ourselves. Having toilets on both floors (1st & 2nd) was also very convenient. We’d love to stay here again!

Our family of five stayed here and enjoyed the spaciousness of having the entire property to ourselves. There were two sets of bunk beds, designed like a secret hideout, which made our children very happy. The owner was kind and friendly, making us want to stay here again in the future.

We stayed for one night with breakfast included. The Accommodation accepts only three groups per day, and the bath and toilets are shared; however, the bath is a private family-bath style. Since we have a daughter who dislikes large public baths with strangers, this was the deciding factor. We were able to book a two-room suite-style Room, with a separate living area and bedroom—spacious and relaxing. Perhaps because it used to be a traditional restaurant, the entrance area of the Room (shoe-off space) is open, and each Room is secured by locking its sliding doors (fusuma). The locks are screw-type locks for sliding doors rather than typical cylinder door locks, so younger guests unfamiliar with them may be confused at first (as our kids were). Also likely due to the building’s traditional structure—with fusuma and shoji screens—soundproofing is somewhat limited, and TV noise or conversations can be heard from the hallway (according to our daughter). That said, the property itself is generally quiet. The layout also seemed designed with noise in mind—for example, keeping relaxation spaces separated. There was one other family with small children staying that day, but it didn’t bother us. There is no washbasin inside the Room; instead, paper cups are provided at the sinks in the bath area and by the toilets for brushing teeth and washing up. Everything was well maintained and pleasant to use. Breakfast the next morning was served in a large hall on the second floor. It was an excellent Japanese-style breakfast—delicious.

I had been wanting to stay at this highly rated Hotel for some time. In addition to the design, the restaurant and room service were excellent, and the Hotel’s facilities were well maintained, so I was very satisfied. Being able to enjoy records was also a great added value. Thank you very much.

Although I had imagined it would be a wonderful Accommodation after looking at the website and other information, it turned out to be a dreamlike stay that far exceeded my expectations. All of the staff and the chef were incredibly kind (I contacted them in advance, and their amazingly thoughtful response truly moved me). Not only was the service attentive, but they also taught us so much about the Accommodation and Jinseki, which made our stay even more fulfilling. The meals were outstanding in every way—flavor, menu, and even the tableware—and my husband was deeply impressed as well. We fully enjoyed plenty of local specialties and seasonal ingredients. I was also happy to experience traditional craftsmanship such as Igura-style architecture and naguri-finished flooring. I always hope to give my child many different experiences, so I’m truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity. Because this Accommodation offers different pleasures in each season, we will definitely visit again at another time of year!

I stayed at Kuroshio for the first time through a friend's recommendation. I truly appreciated the warm hospitality of the owner and staff. The crab hot pot dinner was incredibly delicious. This is a Ryokan I would love to visit again next year.

I love Shimoda and visit every year for swimming with my children and grandchildren, and this was our first stay at Sea Shell Vacation House. It was a wonderful vacation rental—very clean, bright, and right in front of the ocean. We planned to have a BBQ, but we got tired after spending so much time at the beach, so we grilled meat in the kitchen and cooked dried fish we bought from a local shop. It made for a fun and delicious dinner. There are two bathrooms as well, so we didn’t have to wait long for our turn. We’d love to stay again. Thank you very much.
