The sunrise view from the panoramic bath, delicious dinner and breakfast—this was a wonderful Accommodation.

I’ve stayed here many times. This Hotel lets you feel the history of Yumoto, the town of hula. That’s also part of its charm, and it makes for a calm, relaxing stay. This time I stayed with my wife, but when I’m traveling for work I can also choose a budget-friendly Room with some limitations. Dinner is not provided, but you can get recommended local information along with a map. Above all, the proprietress’s breakfast is delicious and highly recommended. Of course, the Onsen is wonderful as well. I’ll be back!

This was my first stay, and it was wonderful! The staff member who prepared our meals and the front desk staff were friendly and kind. The foreign staff member who assisted us also spoke excellent Japanese and had a lovely smile. Overall, it was a great place to stay.

I’m truly sorry for having to rush you due to our circumstances, but the meal was absolutely wonderful—everything from the tableware and presentation to the flavors. I only wish we could have enjoyed it more slowly. My son also said he definitely wants to visit again, so next time I hope we can invite my daughter and her husband and come together. We stayed in a Room on the 3rd floor. I can go up and down stairs normally now, but when my knees were bad, stairs were not possible for me. It may be a bit difficult for guests who need a cane.

We slept on futons in a Japanese-style Room, but it was a stylish space with a modern interior—natural and very clean. The balcony had a gently swaying chair, and there was art on the walls; everything felt really chic. We could also borrow yukata robes and geta sandals. The front desk staff were very kind and gave us clear guidance, including which Onsen baths tend to be crowded. It’s close to both Jizo-yu and Gosho-no-yu, with excellent access to the Onsen town—perfect for visiting multiple public baths. The ropeway and the Onsen town are right in front of you, so you won’t have any trouble finding souvenirs or places to eat. However, there are only a limited number of free parking spaces, and you need to drive along narrow streets crowded with tourists to reach the parking area, so driving can be challenging. We stayed during the Obon holiday period, so even the ropeway parking lot was full and we couldn’t park nearby. Next time, taking the train might be better. For breakfast, we chose a one-plate morning set at the attached café. The latte art looked great for photos, and the interior—with Western movie posters—felt like contemporary art throughout. We stayed as a couple (my husband in his 40s and me in my 30s), and it seems renovated with youthful taste in a Western style that would appeal to inbound international guests—more “JAPAN RYOKAN” than a traditional Ryokan—and we loved it. It felt like an Expo pavilion. Unless you have specific requirements such as needing a mattress bed or an elevator, it’s excellent value for couples. We’d love to come again—thank you very much.

I was pleasantly surprised by how excellent the all-inclusive offering was. The dining was also very satisfying—not a typical buffet, but with options like robatayaki. The Onsen is clear and colorless, but it leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. The only disappointment was that the loungewear pants were far too large. They can be adjusted with a drawstring, but I wish there had been a bit more variety in sizes.

This was my repeat stay. This time I stayed in the “Tasogare” Room, and its calm atmosphere allowed me to truly relax. As someone who enjoys alcohol, the all-inclusive plan—where I can enjoy my favorite drinks without worrying about extra charges—is a major highlight unique to this Accommodation. Because you can take your time without watching the clock, it’s easy to end up staying longer than planned. Also, compared with my previous visit, there were more types of games available to bring into the Room, which could be great when staying with two or more people. The private sauna I look forward to every time also came with a full 90 minutes—plenty of time—and I really appreciated being able to use it at my own pace without worrying about others. After the sauna, I could unwind in the lobby, my Room, or the lounge, making for a truly luxurious experience. All of the staff were courteous and warm, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. Even as a returning guest, it was nice to be treated with consistent kindness. If I had one small note: the slope leading down to the parking area is a bit steep, so drivers of low-clearance cars or those not confident behind the wheel may need to be cautious. That said, it seems unavoidable given the location. Overall, I was very satisfied again this time. I’d love to return in another season. Thank you very much.

This was my first time staying with Itoen Hotels. The Accommodation at Yunishikawa Onsen was very clean and pleasant. The buffet dishes were also replenished promptly, and I am truly grateful to all the staff. I would definitely like to stay again.

I was looking forward to the view from the Room, and it truly was breathtaking. It was also great that we could have our meals in the Room. What made me even happier was the selection of complimentary drinks available in the lobby. Ice was freely available as well, and since acerola juice is rarely offered, I enjoyed it many times during my stay. I had a very pleasant stay at this Accommodation.

We stayed for one night to visit Seiganto-ji Temple, Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine, and Nachi Falls. The buffet meals were all delicious—Japanese, seafood, Chinese, and Western. We also ordered Kumano beef with our Plan, and it was incredibly good. When we arrived, we were tired from driving, but the Mont Blanc served in the lounge was excellent. We chose a Room with an open-air bath, and being able to soak anytime was wonderful—the Onsen was amazing. The views were beautiful in the evening, at night, and in the morning. The only downside was that the open-air bath in the public bathing area alternates between men and women by time/day schedule, so you may not be able to use both on your arrival day. Thank you for a relaxing stay. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

This is my second stay at Hanakoyado. I became a repeat guest because this is where you find the answer to whether high-quality Onsen and gourmet dining can truly be enjoyed at a reasonable price. The traditional wooden building and tiled bath are full of classic Onsen atmosphere. Even more luxuriously, the Kinsen flows continuously, and when you sink into the tub, the overflowing water swirls as it runs off. I also enjoyed a steam bath using the high-temperature source spring. The rice cooked in the okudosan is delicious, and the fish and meat carefully grilled over charcoal with radiant heat are more than satisfying. To top it off, curry rice is served at the end as well. There is an Onsen experience and cuisine here that feel wonderfully untouched by modern times.

During the Obon holiday, when Hotels everywhere were expensive, it was a great help to be able to stay at a consistent price. It was also very close to Yunokuni no Mori, which was our destination, and the parking was free, making it an excellent place for traveling by car. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with drinks included, which was great. The dining area was also spacious and comfortable.

This was my second stay since 2018. As always, every dish at dinner was delicious, and I was very satisfied. The hospitality was also wonderful, and I truly appreciated the advice for visiting Matsumoto Castle the next day. Thanks to your guidance, we were able to sightsee smoothly without feeling the heat too much. If I have the opportunity again, I would love to stay with you in a different season. As a travel-loving couple, we’ve recently been taking trips where we stay at a Hotel and eat at local restaurants, so this was our first Ryokan stay in a while. We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the bath, and the food—and were able to relax and take our time. The Room was honestly too spacious for just two of us, but every space—the Japanese-style room, Western-style room, and bedroom—had its own charm and was wonderful. The bed was also extremely comfortable, and we slept soundly. We also enjoyed the Bluetooth speaker in the Western-style room; it had great sound quality and created an atmosphere that felt like being in a bar. The open-air bath in the Room had continuously flowing natural hot spring water, so we could soak right away after arriving and truly unwind. Dinner featured locally produced Aizu cuisine, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The recommended sake was delicious as well, and it was nice to be able to ask casually for suggestions while choosing. The pricing also felt very reasonable overall. If I had to mention one thing, breakfast was slightly disappointing: refills of rice or tea had to be requested via the in-room phone, and they took quite a while to arrive—so it would have been better if tea had been left in a pot. We were happy with the service too, and would love to visit again if we have the chance.

Guests can use the nearby day-use Onsen next to the Hotel for 600 yen instead of the usual 1,000 yen. Please note this discount is valid for one visit only. It is a genuine Onsen and is open until 24:00, so we were able to relax. The area around the Hotel is also convenient, with many convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants nearby.

An Onsen-loving couple. We found it the same day and made a last-minute Reservation. A detached Room with both an indoor bath and an open-air bath (of course, both are Onsen). At first, the main building looked like it had been renovated… and the detached unit, with its golden torii gate, felt a bit questionable… We wondered if we’d made a mistake. But that first impression was completely wrong. The Hotel staff seemed to be from overseas, but they were pleasant, explained everything clearly, and were friendly and kind. The detached Room had everything we needed—nothing to complain about. It’s No Meals Included, but delivery is OK and there’s a microwave. We considered going out to eat, but since we wanted to soak in the Onsen repeatedly and relax, we bought locally sourced sashimi and sushi at a nearby supermarket and ate in the Room. Without worrying about anyone else, we went into the Onsen over and over—back and forth between the indoor bath and the open-air bath… I’ve lost count of how many times. The fridge has separate freezer/refrigerator compartments, so we could even buy ice cream and store it. The free Onsen-boiled eggs were great—we had several—and they were really delicious. Plates and chopsticks for meals were also provided. You can adjust the water temperature to your liking, and the Room size was more than enough for two. Some Reviews mentioned that the Room was dark or that there were no loungewear/pajamas, but it wasn’t dark at all—and loungewear was provided. If I had to mention one thing: the wooden wall around the open-air bath has some peeling discoloration here and there, with a few spots that look worn/rotted. It’s probably unavoidable due to Onsen minerals; it would be perfect if maintenance reached every detail. Still, they do seem to maintain it regularly—it may just happen quickly because of mineral buildup—so it’s within an acceptable range. We loved everything about our stay. We’ll be back.

We stayed here for a family trip. We made a Reservation for two Rooms for four people, and they kindly arranged adjacent Rooms for us. The large public bath was very pleasant, and we were fully satisfied with our meal at the on-site HAKKO. Since we stayed here to leave early in the morning for Kamikochi, we couldn’t have breakfast. It would have been nice to have a Plan without breakfast or a light meal option for early departures. Thank you very much.

The private open-air bath was very relaxing. Dinner was delicious, featuring many Oita specialties. There was a wide variety at the breakfast buffet, and I ended up eating too much. I also enjoyed the all-you-can-drink shochu. The service was excellent as well—the front desk staff member, the staff member refilling the shochu, and the staff member from overseas were all very kind and helpful, making our stay truly comfortable. The Onsen water was originally great, but when I stayed again after a long time, it had improved even more. It was already silky-smooth, but this time it also had a stronger sulfur feel and a milky-white appearance—absolutely wonderful. (Just my personal impression.) I don’t usually leave comments, but this was the best so far, so I wanted to share my thoughts. I would like to visit again. Thank you.

I’m a Yamagata resident. I was satisfied with both the food and the Onsen. The breakfast and dinner buffets were especially outstanding. The ramen served at the breakfast buffet and the beef bowl with Yonezawa beef were exceptional. At the dinner buffet, the handmade soba was particularly delicious. There was also imoni, which visitors from outside the prefecture may enjoy, but locals will enjoy it even more. The Accommodation rate was affordable, and you can enjoy wonderful food and an Onsen at a great price. I’m glad I stayed here. I’ll be back.
