Japanese-style double Room with breakfast and dinner included. I also requested a pick-up from Yamagata Station. On the way back, I took the bus to Yamagata Station from the Zao Onsen Bus Terminal, just a few minutes’ walk away. I arrived early, but was able to leave my luggage and explore freely. The staff member who assisted me felt unexpectedly curt, which seemed different from the Reviews. The person who showed me to my Room also didn’t seem to notice a fairly large dead insect right by the door when it was opened. That was disappointing. I was very satisfied with the Room, meals, and baths. The entire building is covered with tatami mats and you take off your shoes, which feels great, and everything was well maintained. All staff were pleasant in both their service and greetings. Since the baths switch between men and women, you can use both areas; I enjoyed the warm feel of wood and traditional atmosphere. Some Reviews said it was small, but as a woman I didn’t find it cramped since there weren’t too many people using it at once. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious—I finished everything. The Yamagata beef shabu-shabu was truly excellent. There is a portable air conditioner in the Room (I think), but because its duct runs out through the window, the top of the window doesn’t close completely tight; I couldn’t help noticing that gap. I saw a similar setup in the lounge as well, so I assumed it’s installed as a measure against summer heat. There is no elevator—only stairs—which I actually liked very much. Around this time of year we could hear spring cicadas (maybe), which was soothing. From the entrance you can see a gentle slope leading down to the main road, along with steam rising from the Onsen—an impressive location. It’s a small but comfortable Accommodation with a warm atmosphere—thank you very much.

Thank you always for your wonderful hospitality. While many Accommodations have changed before and after COVID, I can truly relax with peace of mind knowing the quality here is consistently the same whenever I visit. The cuisine delighted my eyes, satisfied my palate, and deeply moved me. The hot spring was excellent, and the Room was exceptionally comfortable. This time, for the first time, I encountered deer and wild boar and felt the mystical power of nature as well. Thank you for such a wonderful escape from everyday life. I look forward to visiting again.

Soaking in the gentle hot water was truly soothing, and the delicious cuisine (the broth was exceptionally good) was a delight. The riverside scenery, including the sand bath, was beautiful as well—an outstanding Accommodation. Above all, the hostess’s hospitality was exceptional. I always enjoy staying here. The Accommodation is spotless throughout, and once again I had a very comfortable stay. The staff were as friendly and attentive as ever, and their warm hospitality is always soothing.\nThe Onsen was wonderful. I especially enjoyed relaxing in the Kagi-bath and the standing bath, which helped me unwind and relieve my everyday fatigue.\nEach dish was delicious, and I took my time savoring the meal.\nEvery visit reminds me what a lovely Accommodation this is—one where I can truly relax. The room, with its white-based design and high ceiling, felt clean and relaxing with heated wooden flooring. The semi-open-air bath in the room was spacious, filled with plenty of silky smooth water. Having a water dispenser was also very convenient. Both dinner and breakfast were not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making the experience truly delightful. The staff showed great care and attention to my elderly mother, allowing us to enjoy our stay with peace of mind. Thank you very much!

I stayed here for my younger sister’s birthday. The beef in the kaiseki course with Shinshu Premium Beef was very tender, and even when it cooled down, it didn’t feel heavy or greasy—absolutely delicious. All the other dishes were also excellent, and we were very satisfied. Perhaps because I mentioned the birthday in advance, we also received a surprise gift, which made us very happy. The Onsen was wonderful too, and my sister said it was a shame we only managed to use it twice. From the warm welcome on arrival to being seen off at departure, it felt heartfelt all the way through—not just a quick goodbye at the front desk. Thank you very much.

The meals were beautifully presented and delicious, and the bath was wonderfully soothing—its gentle water warmed me to the core. The places we visited based on the owner’s advice (a walk and a roadside station) were also excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service of being able to use three yukata per person for a one-night stay, which is something you rarely find elsewhere, allowing us to relax in comfort. The attention to detail and thoughtful hospitality throughout were outstanding, and we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

I stayed for a refreshing getaway. It was conveniently located just steps from the station, so check-in went smoothly. I mistakenly made the Reservation under a male name, but thank you for kindly accommodating us and preparing the Room afterward. We could see the ocean from the Room, and it was very quiet both inside and outside, allowing us to relax in peace. The open-air bath in the guest room was at the perfect temperature, and I enjoyed it five times during my stay. The meal was excellent—the sashimi platter was especially luxurious and delicious. The recommended abalone we added was large and thick; since it was steamed and grilled, it had a pleasant firmness without being tough, making it easy to eat. It was truly delicious with melted butter on top. Thank you for your attentive service from check-in to check-out. I would love to stay again.

Compared with many acidic sulfur Onsen that tend to be very hot, this one has a pleasantly lukewarm bath—and even an open-air reclining bath. That was the biggest reason I chose it (I like long, leisurely soaks). Good value and right next to the slopes, which makes skiing easy. The downside is that the Accommodation is a short walk uphill, so it’s not as easy to casually head into town for sightseeing. Also, the adjacent ski area doesn’t offer night skiing, so you’ll need to travel if you want to ski at night. After skiing, the route back down from the slopes can be hard to find; it’s easier to take the Zao Chuo Ropeway down and ride the Nakamori Triple once to get back smoothly.

Following last year, we stayed again this year in the West Wing corner suite. It’s our favorite Room—I couldn’t help saying, “I’m home.” Above all, this Ryokan’s Onsen in the large public bath has exceptional water quality, making it a place you’ll definitely want to return to. The “Takimoto Gozen” breakfast is very filling, and the welcome sweets are also delicious. We’ll be back next year as well, in a different season.

This was my third stay. Shiretoko is one of my favorite places, and whenever I visit, I always choose to stay at Kitakobushi Resort Hotel. This time, we made a Reservation for three Rooms for seven family members, and we truly appreciated your hospitality. At the newly added private lounge, our whole family was able to relax together and enjoy a wonderful time. Also, thanks to having seats arranged in advance for dinner, all seven of us could dine together, which we were very pleased with. Thank you sincerely to all the staff for your consistently courteous service throughout our stay. We would love to stay at Kitakobushi Resort Hotel again next time. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

No matter how many times I visit, Akiu Grand Hotel always makes me feel at ease. I love the meals, the baths, and the staff’s warm smiles and friendly attitude. This time, the 8 pieces of premium tuna sushi at dinner for 1,100 yen just melted in my mouth. I’m a huge fan and this is my second stay as a repeat guest. I don’t really want to tell everyone, but if you see it at the front desk, please try it—you’ll be amazed! One request for the Hotel: if you could have about two baby beds in the restaurant, parents could enjoy their meal more comfortably when their baby falls asleep. Thank you.

We stayed for one night starting on 7/29! It was just my son and me, and right after we arrived there were kid-friendly activities prepared—shaved ice and stencil-cutting—so we really enjoyed them together. After that we moved to our Room, and both of us were impressed by how spacious and clean it was. We didn’t use the Onsen in the Room, but the semi-private open-air bath felt almost like having it to ourselves, so I ended up going in three times during our stay (lol). After arriving, we took our time relaxing while visiting the different lounges. Dinner had slightly different menus for adults and children, but they were mostly the same, which made my son very happy. All drinks in the Room were included in the price as well, so we enjoyed a relaxed evening drink together with the provided beer and juice. Breakfast had an amazing variety of sides to go with rice—I could have eaten endless bowls. It was also great that refills of miso soup were available. Since it’s located up in the mountains, the view is incredible. This was our last day after traveling around various Hotels, and we had such a wonderful time that I genuinely felt sad to leave. The staff were also exceptionally polite and attentive—truly excellent service. Next time I’d like to come back with my wife.

The international staff were also wonderfully attentive, and our whole family truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. The meals and the Onsen were especially excellent. We would love to stay again.

Both the Room and the large public bath were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was also well seasoned. The 10-minute fireworks at Lake Suwa exceeded our expectations and became a wonderful memory. It was such a great Accommodation that we could hardly find anything to complain about. When we visit Lake Suwa again, we will definitely stay here again!

This Accommodation’s Onsen was simply outstanding. The large public bath is divided into “Toki-no-Yu” and “Inishie-no-Yu,” and there are so many options—including indoor baths and open-air baths—that you can’t enjoy them all in just one night. There’s also a sauna, so it’s highly recommended for anyone who wants to sweat and unwind. Another small delight is the complimentary drink (Yakult) provided after your bath. Our Room had twin beds. It wasn’t huge, but it was calm and relaxing. When we opened the window early in the morning, we could hear birds singing—an experience you don’t usually get in the city center. It was such a wonderful Accommodation that we wanted to extend our stay.

Thank you for your hospitality. The Room was clean, the meals were delicious, and the spacious garden was beautifully maintained—we were very satisfied. We felt refreshed thanks to the Onsen and spa treatments. We would love to visit again.

The Room had a great layout, especially the spacious, easy-to-use closet. The sofa by the window was also roomy and very comfortable, making the stay truly relaxing. Also, the “Tamatebako” in the dinner menu was carefully prepared item by item. We enjoyed it in order from the appetizer to the vinegared dishes, and everything was delicious. I especially loved the clam dobin-mushi. The eel kamameshi was tasty, but I would have liked a bit more eel. Thank you for your hospitality.

My daughter and I stayed here together. We had a luggage issue before arriving at the Hotel and ended up arriving an hour late for dinner, but you kindly accommodated us, for which we are truly grateful. For the meal, although it was already past the time when it would normally have been served as a boxed meal, you were considerate enough to serve us as planned, and I was nearly moved to tears. Every dish was not only beautifully presented but also thoughtfully prepared with seasonal ingredients and flavors that guests of any age can enjoy. The seasoning and portions were just right, and everything was truly delicious. We chose the plan with breakfast included, and it was very lavish—yet never heavy—and before we knew it, we had finished everything. The rice was especially delicious; my daughter and I even said afterward that we should have asked for seconds. The Onsen bath was very clean, and it felt so wonderful that we forgot all about the day’s troubles. We also used the open-air bath; since it was a full moon that night, we enjoyed a blissful time soaking while looking at the moon peeking through the trees. The Room was very spacious, with a Japanese-style room plus a separate bedroom with beds. It’s a layout where you can relax in comfort in the Japanese-style room and then sleep soundly in bed afterward—something guests of any age can enjoy. Above all else, every member of staff provided outstanding service. When we arrived at Kinugawa Onsen Station there were hardly any taxis available, and we were worried about whether we could reach the Hotel on foot along dark roads. You picked us up by car from the station, which helped us tremendously. You also drove us to the station again the next day—thank you so much. Thanks to you, we made our scheduled train on time. Your kindness in every respect truly moved us. There are many Ryokan out there and we have stayed at several before, but this is a Hotel where we were satisfied with everything: staff service, cuisine, baths, and Rooms. This time it was only one night because there were other places we wanted to visit as well; however, if we travel to the Nikko area again next time, we will definitely choose this Hotel. And since we had your wonderful food rather hurriedly this time due to our late arrival (laugh), next time I’d like to arrive on schedule and savor each dish more slowly. We sincerely appreciate all your kindness. Thank you very much. We look forward to staying with you again in the future.

I stayed one night with my dog (dinner and breakfast included). The Room faced the beach, and the view was amazing. I took walks around the Hotel in the evening and in the morning. Meals were served in a separate building, and I enjoyed them together with my dog in my Room. The simmered blackthroat seaperch, crab meat, grilled beef, and everything else was delicious. I was completely full. The Onsen was spacious, and the bathing areas alternated daily between men and women. It was a very satisfying trip. Next time, I’ll book a Multiple Night Stay.
