With its expansive grounds, tranquil atmosphere, seemingly oversized guest rooms, and dedicated attendants, this is a top-tier Japanese-style Ryokan. While it did feel a bit dated in places—such as not having enough power outlets by the bed—we were very satisfied with our stay. It was disappointing that the private family bath (Nishi-no-Yu) was closed due to reduced hot spring water volume depending on the season.

The building is elegant and the interior is stylish—I felt excited from the moment I arrived. All the staff were consistently pleasant, and their thoughtfulness really came through, making the stay extremely comfortable. We traveled with a child, and they were so kind to our little one as well, which truly warmed my heart. The beer in the lobby was incredibly good—I couldn’t help but keep drinking it. Dinner was delicious across the board…especially the tuna and Wagyu steak!! I had high expectations, but it exceeded them. The staff were wonderful, it’s all-inclusive, everything was spotless in both the lobby and our Room, and the views were fantastic—honestly, I don’t think there are many Accommodations as lovely as this. If you’re traveling to Izu, I highly recommend this Accommodation. You’re guaranteed to have an amazing trip! I’m still thinking how I should’ve eaten more and enjoyed even more…haha! After checkout, I realized I’d left something behind and contacted them—they kindly shipped it to my home. It arrived the next day, and their quick yet courteous response truly warmed my heart. I found this Ryokan while looking for a trip to give my boyfriend as a birthday present, also as a thank-you for his proposal. This was an important trip for me, and everything—from the hospitality to the Onsen, the food, and the Room—was wonderful. It was a truly heartwarming Ryokan. When I asked about bringing in wine as a surprise, they responded and accommodated my request promptly and with great care. I didn’t expect such thoughtful support, and I’m very grateful. In the end, he was delighted, and we were able to spend a lovely time together. While searching for a Ryokan, I saw many reviews praising the hospitality, and after staying here I completely understand why. The service from our attendant and all other staff was excellent, making this trip even more special. We also enjoyed seasonal flavors in the cuisine, and since it was served in our Room we could relax and enjoy it at our own pace. The words said to us at departure—“We look forward to welcoming you again in another season”—left a strong impression on me. We would love to visit again.

Thank you as always. I really appreciate that the Room TV has been upgraded to a smart TV, making it possible to watch apps and WOWOW. The variety of bath salts has also increased, and the bath towels feel luxurious and are easy to use. Even in a single room, the Room is spacious enough for light stretching. Recently, prices have gone up and it’s been hard to stay as often, but I’d like to use it again during more affordable periods.

This was our first stay. My wife, who is very particular about everything, said, “This Room is comfortable, so we’ll be fine,” and even wanted to cancel the other Hotels we had planned. We were wondering what to do for a four-week Hotel stay during our home renovation, so we consulted the front desk. Despite being busy, they kindly helped us, and as a result we changed our plans and stayed long-term. The breakfast selection was extensive, and my wife—who rarely eats out due to food allergies and usually has to cook for herself—enjoyed it every morning without getting tired of it. The lounge, the Onsen, and the parking were all excellent as well, and every staff member was very courteous. When we mentioned a concern about cleaning, they responded immediately. We are truly grateful that our long stay went smoothly. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

It’s close to Kanazawa Station, and I was able to get there without getting wet even though it was raining. They also upgraded my Room to a larger one, and since it was a corner Room, it was quiet and I could relax. The only disappointment was that the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all—maybe it was just on the day I stayed. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and it’s a Hotel I’d like to use again when I come back to Kanazawa.

I love Onsen and always stay at a Hotel with rooms that have an open-air bath. I visit Atami, Hakone, Fukushima, and Kinugawa at least 10 times a year, but this was my first time at Kanaya Hotel. The teppanyaki meal was wonderful, and the bath was amazing! I definitely want to come again—thank you very much.

This was an Accommodation I had wanted to stay at for a long time, and it exceeded my expectations. Everything was outstanding—from the Hotel atmosphere and meals to the staff’s warm hospitality, the special tea experience, the Room, and even the Onsen. I will definitely stay again. This was our family’s first stay, and it was wonderful. With my birthday coming up the following week, we happened to mention it at check-in, and they surprised me at dinner with live music and a dessert—plus sweets as a gift—to celebrate! We hadn’t informed them in advance about the Reserver, so I was truly touched by the surprise. Thank you very much. All of the staff were professional—from guiding our car on arrival to explaining the Hotel, as well as the lounge and restaurant teams—and they made our stay comfortable from start to finish. The housekeeping staff also greeted us warmly. The Facility was just as beautiful as in the photos, and everything—from the amenities to the in-room sweets and beverages—was thoughtfully selected, which really conveyed their hospitality. The restaurant meals for both breakfast and dinner were vibrant, uncompromising, and absolutely delicious. I was genuinely impressed by this top-class Accommodation. We will definitely return. Thank you again.

Although I live in Osaka, I stayed at Patina Osaka, which is very close to my home. Above all, the hospitality was outstanding in every aspect from check-in to check-out, and even though it was a short one-night stay, it was an extremely satisfying Hotel stay. The meals (in-room dining) and breakfast were both delicious—I was impressed the entire time. The turndown service was also meticulous, with everything kept spotless; the service was truly attentive, making it the most comfortable Hotel I have ever stayed at. It is also very pet-first, so my family and I could relax with complete peace of mind. I will definitely be back again. My heartfelt thanks to all the hoteliers at Patina Osaka. Thank you so much!

Although this Accommodation is located along a major road, once you step onto the grounds you won’t notice it at all, and there is a lovely garden. A stroll is highly recommended. Various services, including the lounge, are thoughtfully arranged, and we really enjoyed our time inside the Accommodation. All staff were kind and pleasant; the meals were delicious; and not only the in-room open-air bath but also the large public bath was excellent. There were quite a few guests from Europe/Western countries and Asia as well, but everyone spent their time quietly. This Accommodation far exceeded our expectations.

This was my first stay at Fufu Karuizawa Shoyo no Mori. Last year, I stayed at Fufu Karuizawa Yoko no Kaze and was very satisfied, so this year I chose Shoyo no Mori. The property has a calm atmosphere, with a relaxing lobby lounge and courtyard. The Room was spacious, and the Onsen was wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I would definitely like to stay again.

I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, and this is easily among the very best. It’s not inexpensive, but considering the dining, service, and Facilities, it felt like outstanding value—worth far more than the price. The moment you step inside, you’re captivated by a breathtaking view of the Jintsu River framed by stately yet modern architecture. The art-filled spaces also have a playful sense of humor that made us smile. We stayed in the Modern Moon room, which had beautifully curated interiors. We spent an elegant time enjoying the fragrant hinoki cypress bath overlooking the Jintsu River and relaxing on the terrace. The bedding was exceptional for a great night’s sleep, and in addition to two well-appointed large public baths, we loved that there was a private family bath available at a surprisingly reasonable rate. Dinner was French cuisine featuring abundant Toyama ingredients, with flawless presentation and service. I was amazed by the skillful cooking that elevated even more distinctive ingredients into something refined. The generous full-course meal paired perfectly with their outstanding Toyama house wines (red and white). The next morning’s Japanese breakfast was just as impressive—deeply flavorful and wonderfully soothing after the previous night’s course. Relaxing at the Accommodation is wonderful on its own, but there are also plenty of activities—an art tour, children’s events, strolls through the garden and along the Jintsu River—so one night is nowhere near enough. Being able to use Tesla charging Facilities also helped us travel without worry. The hospitality from all staff members was exceptional. We were so moved that we immediately made another Reservation for six months later. We truly can’t wait to return.

Since there were three adults, we really appreciated having a triple room option. The large public bath was clean and relaxing even late at night, and the complimentary treats like ice pops after bathing were a nice touch. Breakfast was luxurious and delicious: in addition to the buffet, you could choose a main dish, and even after three nights we never got tired of it (lol). We also had an incident where our child left an iPhone in a taxi, but the staff supported us without showing any annoyance. When the iPhone was found, they were genuinely happy with us, which meant a lot. It was a Hotel we were completely satisfied with as a base for sightseeing in Kyoto. Thank you very much.

In the wonderful space created by the owners, we were able to spend a truly relaxing and restorative time. Enjoying their thoughtfully prepared dishes—down to the seasonings—paired with local sake and served in locally made tableware was a real luxury... The journey there, transferring between local trains and buses, also became a memorable part of our trip. We would love to visit again someday in a different season. I stayed here with my mother. The Accommodation was spotless, and the meals were thoughtfully prepared and truly delicious! Above all, the hospitality from everyone at the Accommodation was outstanding. When I come to Yufuin again, it’s not just that I want to stay in Yufuin—I want to visit Yufuin so I can stay at this Accommodation.

Considering the price, everything was acceptable. However, this isn’t the Hotel’s fault, but by 5 p.m. almost everything in the tourist area—including restaurants—was closed. The downside was that once it got dark, there was little choice but to spend time in the Room. I suppose there must be some kind of agreement among the local merchants.

Pickup service The Room atmosphere—everything was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious, and we were able to spend a lovely time; we were truly happy and had a great time. We also appreciate the attentive care from the staff. Thank you for making our Miyajima trip unforgettable.

This is a Japanese-style suite reached by stairs. As you enter, folk-art furniture sits on the wooden-floored entry area; open the vermilion-lacquered double-sided kumiko shoji framed by carefully crafted natural-wood pillars and rails, and you step into a tatami Room scented with fresh rush. Seasonal hanging scrolls and flowers, and a large low table complete the setting. From the wide north-facing window, you can see the river surface and the temple’s great roof. By the window are a box hibachi used as a table and a small rocking chair. At the back of the south-side wooden-floored area, it seems an extension has been added: a large, bright bath area (a thick, oversized hinoki cypress tub big enough for about four people to soak together, washing space, footbath, and washbasin). Through the glass door you can view mountain ridges; open it to step onto the veranda and feel the breeze. The water flows continuously 24/7 despite concerns about humidity affecting wooden construction. Everything is kept very clean and well maintained—an indulgent bathing experience. After finishing an excellent meal at a calm small dining room table facing the garden, we returned to find our futons laid out. A bed would be easier, but it would probably feel out of place in this Room. I adjusted the futon orientation to my preference. In addition to air conditioning there is also a gas fan heater, so it should stay warm even in winter. Renovation work seems to be progressing in stages, and I’m looking forward to seeing newly refurbished Rooms.
