The Onsen was wonderfully silky and great for the skin—I enjoyed it four times. The meals were healthy and just the right amount, and the dishes made with homegrown vegetables were especially delicious. The staff were very friendly, and I had a comfortable stay. There is no elevator, so guests with mobility issues may need to take care, but it was not a problem for us. Surrounded by the refreshing nature of the former Ryujin Village, this is an Accommodation I would love to stay at again in another season!

I chose this accommodation to enjoy stargazing, and I was completely satisfied as I could see a sky full of stars that night. The facility was comfortable with no inconveniences. For breakfast, I expected something simple since it’s glamping, but I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious and heartfelt Japanese meal. Surprisingly, there aren’t many places in Tanegashima offering early lunch options, so I highly recommend staying here with breakfast included. If the weather is clear, enjoy the starry sky while listening to the gentle stream and sounds of insects.

The room was very comfortable, the food was delicious, and the Onsen was excellent. I had a luxurious time. I would love to stay again.

We stayed with six classmates on a friend’s recommendation. Thank you for kindly helping us with various questions in advance. It was firefly season, and we were able to see them near the Accommodation as well. The meals focused on locally sourced ingredients, and we were impressed to grill and enjoy fresh meat, fish, and vegetables over the irori hearth. Although it’s a spacious house, it was thoroughly cleaned and very comfortable to stay in. Thank you for everything—we had a truly wonderful trip.

I thought I wouldn’t make it in time for check-in, but they waited for me and gave me a warm welcome! The yakitori restaurant attached to the Facility is also delicious. Bed-making (putting on the sheets, etc.) being self-service was a bit puzzling. Other than that, everything was perfect.

This was my first time staying at a temple Accommodation, and it was comfortable with no inconveniences. The vegan meals were also very delicious (especially the sesame tofu). The Room was warm even in winter, and the bath warmed me up well; the changing area was warm too (I would appreciate signage for international guests asking them not to bring hair or towels into the bath). The morning service was easy to join, not too long, and never boring. Being shown the Buddha’s relics left a strong impression on me and made me feel the history. It would be even better if there were an opportunity to try zazen meditation.

The calm, sophisticated atmosphere was so stylish that it really lifted our spirits! The space was spacious, spotless, and comfortable—almost too nice for just two people. This time it was fully booked so we could only stay one night, but if we have the chance, we’d definitely love to book a Multiple Night Stay again. The kitchen is well equipped; we didn’t cook this time, but it seems perfect for preparing your own meals comfortably.

We stayed for one night on a weekday with our beloved dog. The owners warmly welcomed us with smiles. Dinner was teppanyaki, featuring a generous serving of Yonezawa beef, which was absolutely delicious! Their child was adorable and brought us so much joy. The next morning, we were delighted to find a newspaper featuring an article with our photo! The owner, who is a former journalist, created it for us. It became one of our most cherished memories. They even waved goodbye until we were out of sight when we left! The owners are incredibly warm and approachable without being overly familiar, striking the perfect balance that made us feel comfortable and cared for. Although the building seems to have been constructed quite some time ago, areas like the toilets and interiors that are easily noticeable or related to hygiene have been beautifully renovated, allowing us to enjoy a clean and pleasant stay.

The food and the room were excellent. Also, having various conversations with the hostess made it a wonderful experience.

As the Facility is old, it was difficult to adjust the shower temperature in the bathroom, and sometimes the bidet toilet did not provide warm water. However, the Room was clean and the meals were delicious. The accommodation cost was reasonable, and I am satisfied.

It was truly wonderful. The facility was well-equipped, and cleaning was done meticulously. There were moments when the noise from neighboring or lower floors was slightly noticeable, but it seemed unavoidable. Within walking distance, there were supermarkets, bento shops, and some restaurants, so I didn't feel inconvenienced. I would love to use this place again in the future. The service was also excellent.

The front side of the accommodation faces a field, with a horse pasture in the back. If you're lucky, you can catch a distant view of Mt. Fuji, allowing you to relax and unwind. The owner is attentive and considerate to each guest, maintaining a comfortable distance. The room is standard, the toilet is modern, the bath temperature is perfect, and Wi-Fi connectivity is excellent. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, making for an elegant experience.

The accommodation was even more comfortable than I imagined from the photos. First, the room was stylish, spacious, and equipped with everything needed. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent. One of my companions even said, "I can't believe they have every cooking utensil here! I wish we had booked a multiple night stay!" For me, everything seemed to feature the latest facilities, which left me amazed throughout my stay. On top of that, having a bed that is comfortable for someone with back pain was absolutely wonderful. I would love to stay here again. **Note:** The only thing I found confusing was the key app. If it doesn't work properly: - Check if you have received a spare key. - Restart the app. This worked for me—hope it helps!

I stayed in a room with a double bed. It was very spacious! The TV was large, and I enjoyed watching Netflix. The room had a washer with a dryer, which was very convenient. For Multiple Night Stays, it seems cleaning is not provided, so guests need to take care of trash disposal and bath towels themselves.

The hostess and her daughter were very friendly, and it was a relaxing Accommodation. The Onsen was also free-flowing, and the open-air bath was wonderful. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

This was our first trip to Hakuba with my daughter, and we were very satisfied with this accommodation. With only four rooms, each uniquely designed, we chose the "Condo" room this time. The room featured beautiful interior design, offering a luxurious and private experience. My daughter was delighted as well. For us, the enjoyment of a trip heavily depends on the accommodation's room and meals, and Kunugi exceeded all expectations with its hospitality and cleanliness. One of the highlights was the bath facilities—three options including indoor baths and an outdoor Asian-style bath that required a reservation. The outdoor bath had a tropical resort vibe where we could relax while enjoying views of the garden. It was so pleasant that I ended up using it twice—once in the evening and again in the morning. Dinner consisted of a full-course menu featuring fish and meat dishes that were casual yet delicious. The French toast served at breakfast was also excellent, which made my daughter very happy once again. Having stayed at many hotels or ryokans before, I believe accommodations like Kunugi—with its originality and exceptional hospitality—are rare to find. While winter is likely their peak season due to increased demand, visiting during off-season periods like now through autumn offers more reasonable rates. Summer in Hakuba feels like experiencing Japan’s traditional landscapes—a truly unique region worth visiting. We will definitely return for another stay! The owner was incredibly kind—a wonderful host—and even provided shuttle service for us. Thank you so much for making this summer trip such an unforgettable experience!

You’ll also be greeted by friendly goats right in front of the house. The deck features a traditional Goemon bath where you can soak while admiring the scenery. For dinner, gather around an irori (traditional sunken hearth) and enjoy a leisurely meal while chatting with the hosts. The dishes are made with local ingredients and enhanced by homemade seasonings like soy sauce koji and nuoc mam vinegar—everything is delicious, perfectly paired with drinks. After dinner, sleep under a mosquito net for a nostalgic Showa-era experience. In the morning, try cooking rice in a traditional kamado stove using freshly harvested rice from the terraced fields—it’s so flavorful on its own! Pair it with grilled fish (barracuda on this day), large-grain natto from Takachiho, roasted seaweed over an irori fire, or tamago kake gohan (rice topped with raw egg). You’ll find yourself reaching for seconds! This accommodation is perfect for families or couples and is also popular among international guests. For those who aren’t comfortable eating raw eggs at breakfast, you can request alternatives like tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet). We’d love to visit again as a family!

A guesthouse we discovered after changing our travel plans. A gentler, more comforting time than we imagined. From the spotless Room, you can enjoy a panoramic view all to yourself. A body-pleasing steamed breakfast and lemongrass tea—an unforgettable, luxurious moment awaits you here. This is a place best experienced rather than described. We’ll be back. The signboard cat, Raby, and the warm-hearted staff. We’ll cherish this moving experience and do our best to value each day.
