I live in Kobe and have been hiking Mt. Rokko and the surrounding mountains frequently for many years. I often passed by “Ocean Terrace Ajisai” and had been curious about it for a long time. After reading the Reviews, the food looked absolutely delicious. So I made a Reservation for our wedding anniversary. The meals more than lived up to their reputation—beautifully presented, wonderfully flavorful, and truly outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast left us happily stuffed. Everything was delicious, but I was especially impressed by how surprising and exquisite the fig dengaku and peach potage were—and it was my first time in my life to be genuinely amazed at how incredibly good Narazuke could be. The dashimaki tamago that appeared with a burst of steam when they opened the bamboo mat was also exceptional. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and attentive, sharing enjoyable stories that made us feel at ease. The view was slightly hazy when we arrived, but when I woke up around midnight and stepped out onto the terrace, there were the night lights from Kobe to Osaka—and a full moon! I was thrilled by both our good luck and its beauty. And in the morning, seeing trees wrapped in mist—Mt. Rokko like I’d never seen before—moved me again… I would love to stay again in a different season. When making the Reservation, I saw the Room size in square meters and assumed it would be compact, but I must have misread it—it felt very spacious and relaxing, which was wonderful too.

This is what a great Accommodation should be. It met my expectations—and exceeded them. From the complimentary herb water made with herbs from the garden to the various cordial syrups and even a sake bath, every detail was thoughtfully considered. The olive kaiseki dinner left a strong impression of Shodoshima. I truly hope to return.

Although we arrived in rainy weather, we were warmly welcomed by many staff members, making for a wonderful start that almost felt more than we deserved. The building, designated as a Tangible Cultural Property, has a rich sense of history, yet it is meticulously maintained throughout, allowing us to relax in complete comfort. In addition to the pleasantly warm and soothing Onsen, the cuisine was truly outstanding. On departure, they even took a complimentary commemorative photo and later sent it to our home—such a thoughtful gesture that made this an unforgettable memory. Everything was exceptional, including the hospitality, and this is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

I had a Multiple Night Stay, and to be honest, it exceeded my expectations. Although I couldn't see Mount Fuji from the Room I stayed in, I enjoyed a blissful time on the beautiful garden terrace where the day seemed to pass by in an instant. The medicinal stone bath was incredibly relaxing; after just one soak, my body felt thoroughly warmed to the core. By the second time, I even started looking forward to the bath preparation process itself. The Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. During my stay, housekeeping cleaned while I was out for the day during my Multiple Night Stay. Returning to such a spotless Room felt like coming back to a brand-new space—it was truly impressive! The staff were kind and greeted me warmly every time we crossed paths, making my stay all the more pleasant. When visiting Lake Kawaguchi again, I will definitely return to Hana no Yado Yumefuji! From the moment I arrived, I was deeply moved every time by the warm hospitality of being greeted by name. Check-in was extremely smooth, and I always love the guidance to my Room and the kind, welcoming service from the bell staff. My requests made in advance were fully accommodated, and the Room setup and cleaning were flawless down to every detail, allowing me to stay comfortable throughout my visit. I am always grateful to the housekeeping team. The reception staff in the spa area also provided wonderful service, and the concierge team’s prompt and polished support was a great help. In addition, the limited-time Shine Muscat roll cake I had at the pastry shop “Sweets & Deli” was exquisite and became a delicious memory that stayed with me. I also enjoyed my time at the lobby lounge and would definitely like to visit again. Everything was truly perfect—this is a wonderful Hotel that left me completely satisfied from the bottom of my heart. I would confidently recommend it to my loved ones, and I will definitely stay again.

Thank you for accommodating our last-minute visit again. We were truly relieved to find a Room available. We love the in-room Onsen and the dinner! The sea bream rice at breakfast was delicious—I finished it all. I was also happy to enjoy breakfast with the garden right in front of me. Thank you very much. We were also very satisfied with how well stocked the Room amenities were. With such attentive hospitality, this is an Accommodation we will definitely want to stay at whenever we come to Matsue.

The meals are such high quality you’d never guess they’re buffet-style. The menu changes with the seasons, so it never gets boring, and everything is consistently delicious every time we visit! The Rooms may seem similar at first, but the layouts and interiors vary, which makes it fun and interesting. The Surprise Plan is the best—guaranteed to become an unforgettable memory! It’s wonderful to receive, and just as fun to plan for someone else. A space where everyone is sure to feel happy! We’re truly grateful to all the staff who create this extraordinary and wonderful atmosphere.

The bath, the Room, the sauna, the food, and all of the staff were amazing. The goats were also incredibly cute and so relaxing! Our daughter was totally absorbed in feeding them, and on the way home she said she definitely wants to stay again! We plan to visit again if we have the chance!

This was my second stay at this Hotel, and once again everything was perfect. The hospitality is outstanding, and every member of the staff is truly impeccable. The interior design is tasteful, the meals are delicious, and I highly recommend this Hotel. Having lived abroad for many years and stayed at many top-class Hotels around the world, Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel is one of my favorites.

This was my third stay. It was my first time in the “Haruka” cottage, and it was just as comfortable as always. On the day we arrived, we took a walk along the river from the back garden door to Sakuta Beach. It took about 10 minutes to get there. Our senior dog needed to be carried part of the way, but was thrilled once we reached the beach. The Room was clean and comfortable, and the Facility and overall setup reflected wonderful hospitality. The staff were also very kind, making each visit a lovely memory. Thank you very much.

This was my second stay this year, and I’ve already made a Reservation for my next visit. Everything about this Accommodation is satisfying. I have a regular place in Fukushima where I’ve stayed more than 15 times in total, but this one surpassed it. I don’t usually read Reviews, but above all, the meals are outstanding—the head chef’s skill really shows, and I look forward to the delicious food every time. Most of all, the staff’s service is excellent. With only a small number of Rooms, it feels private and truly special. This time, when I mentioned that I wanted to eat peaches since we were in Fukushima, they kindly stopped by a peach shop even though they were busy. Thanks to that, I enjoyed a wonderful dessert and was very satisfied. This is the kind of Accommodation that makes you want to come back again.

Iya Bijin is an Accommodation famous for soba. I had carelessly forgotten this, and since my son has a severe buckwheat allergy, we made a last-minute request to remove all foods related to soba. During our stay, they took great care with the meals, and both dinner and breakfast were wonderful—such as ayu sashimi and dekomawashi—and my son ate so much it surprised even us. Of course, he had no allergic symptoms at all. Thank you very much.

We stayed here as a family of four during summer vacation. We chose the No Meals Included plan because we planned to enjoy street food along Dogo Onsen’s Haikara Street, and it turned out to be an outstanding stay: everything was spotless, the Onsen was excellent, the futons were very comfortable, and access to Haikara Street was great. Above all, the staff worked seamlessly as a team and responded quickly and courteously—it was truly impressive. Our whole family agreed we were lucky to find such a wonderful Accommodation. This time we booked No Meals Included, but the Ryokan meals also looked delicious, so next time we’d like to stay with meals included. It’s an Accommodation we would definitely love to visit again. We visited to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. It was a long drive from Yokohama to Nagano, but this was a wonderful Accommodation that truly made us glad we came. The in-room open-air bath was a little hot and needed some adjustment, but it was clean, spacious, and free of insects. The shampoo and conditioner also left our hair smooth and silky. (Some Ryokan at this level still leave your hair feeling rough.) All the staff who welcomed us were smiling, and during dinner the head chef served the main dish right at our table. Everything was delicious—made with local ingredients and carefully prepared with great attention to detail. On our way out, they even opened the souvenir shop in the main building earlier for us, so I was happy to be able to buy the souvenirs I wanted. My parents were very pleased as well, so we would love to visit again while they are still healthy.

It was a pity that the entrance gate was still under construction, with cones and blue tarps scattered around (I understand that unexpected earthquakes and heavy rain can take up manpower). This time, the meals were upgraded and were a delight to both the eyes and the palate. For breakfast, I would have been even happier if there had been a choice of bread. I will visit again—thank you very much.

I seem to have booked an accessible room without realizing it, and was shown to a first-floor guest room. The in-room bathroom was an impressive stone design with great attention to detail, and the tub had plenty of continuously flowing water. The stone flooring was also slip-resistant, which felt reassuring. The clear Onsen water was silky-smooth—an excellent bath overall. That said, because the first-floor room is almost level with the embankment, bamboo grass has been planted for privacy and the room felt a bit dark, which was disappointing. With the special blinds set at just the right angle, views from outside are well blocked. Whether it was the mattress or something else, I slept very soundly. The large public baths are on the 3rd floor (women), 2nd floor (men), plus there are additional baths in the basement including a granite bath and an open-air rock bath. It’s fun to enjoy a variety of baths around the Accommodation from morning onward, and my companion was very satisfied as well and seemed refreshed. There are stairs to reach some of the basement baths and the open-air rock bath, so even younger guests should take care. Dinner featured local specialties such as salt-grilled ayu sweetfish, followed by more unpretentious yet delicious dishes—overall a very positive impression. Breakfast was also served seated in private or semi-private rooms, so we could enjoy it calmly. After flood damage, tasteful renovations have been done throughout; starting with the lobby, everything felt comfortable overall. However, since it isn’t newly built, there were slight slopes here and there in places like corridors. Being along the riverbank also means small insects can’t be completely avoided in summer. A Facility where you can feel the atmosphere of a classic Onsen inn. If I have another chance, I’d like to stay in a guest room on either the 2nd or 3rd floor.

Using aromatic vegetables, fish, and meat from the Kyoto area, each ingredient is prepared and served with the utmost care to preserve its natural fragrance, flavor, and texture in the best possible way. The chef’s evolving craft was truly impressive. I was also moved by the sommelier’s sincere dedication to wine. The cuisine feels perfectly suited to this one-of-a-kind Meiji-era mansion dining experience in Japan.

Given the location, it may be no surprise that the fish is delicious, but the soup and side dishes were also excellent. The cooking showed outstanding taste and skill. Breakfast in particular was impressive—generous in portion size and well balanced. We stayed as a family in two Rooms. The special Room in the main building was very relaxing, with a living room overlooking the sea and a bedroom with a massage chair and a large TV. The detached annex was spacious and stylish with a modern feel, and we slept very well there. This was entirely our mistake, but thank you for kindly helping us look for our lost item. A wonderful Accommodation.

This was our first stay as a couple. The Hotel is attached to a golf course and is a little away from central Nasu, but both my wife and I were completely satisfied. We enjoyed the warm hospitality from everyone at the Hotel, wonderful cuisine, a private hot spring source that warmed us through to the core, and spacious, clean Rooms—everything we could have asked for. At departure, clean wipes were prepared for us, and our car windows ended up sparkling. We sincerely thank all of the staff. It has been a while since we experienced such truly professional hospitality—we were genuinely moved. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderful night. Dinner is served to just three parties at this inn with only three rooms. You might imagine a quiet, lonely atmosphere—but what filled the space was lively conversation. “It’s the Mid-Autumn Moon tonight, so we’ll dim the lights,” said the mother. When she opened the door, you could hear waves loud enough to rival any background music; beyond the terrace, moonlight shimmered on the sea, with fishing boats’ lights in the distance. On our table were various handmade dishes prepared by the whole family. Everyone moved cheerfully between kitchen and dining room, while happy conversations flowed among guests. The father’s Japanese cuisine—after training at a long-established sushi restaurant near Akebonobashi and running a sushi minshuku in Kamogawa with his wife for over 30 years—and French dishes from their son, who returned home after 11 years of training at Hotel New Otani. Even the porcini mushrooms were locally sourced. “Destination restaurant” may be today’s buzzword, but for me this place suits me better—and makes me want to come back more—than certain well-known spots deep in Toyama’s mountains or in Nirasaki. Reservations are easy to get, and it’s only a 90-minute drive from central Tokyo.
