This Hotel offers beautiful ocean views from the Room, and I had looked forward to staying here every year. However, for the past few years, Accommodation operations were suspended due to rebranding, and I had been eagerly awaiting their return. I was worried it might become focused solely on weddings, but I was relieved to find that they are providing the same services as before. Lunch service and the online shop are still on hold, but I would be happy if things could gradually return to how they used to be. The view of the sea remains just as beautiful, and with great weather we were able to enjoy sunsets, sunrises, and even a starry sky—making it a wonderful 2-night, 3-day trip. I would love to stay again next year.

Regardless of whether you’re vegan or not, everything served was incredibly delicious, and I felt soothed from the very first bite. It’s the kind of flavor that makes you understand what “deeply nourishing” really means. The natural lavender herbal bath in the Room was wonderfully calming—just as comforting as an Onsen. The peaceful atmosphere was lovely; I wished I could have stayed longer. Thanks to the owners’ warm personalities, their natural, unpretentious hospitality felt like the very best kind of service.

I booked this Accommodation because it is a fully private rental of about 200 m² in the prime location of Nene-no-Michi in Higashiyama. The location was truly outstanding, and once inside the grounds, the villa was pure tranquility. It felt uniquely special—unlike anything I had experienced on previous trips to Kyoto. As a villa renovated from a former teahouse, it offers a completely private space unlike a typical Hotel, with no need to worry about other guests. The beautifully maintained garden was stunning, and while the interior is modern and luxurious, it still conveys Kyoto’s traditional Japanese charm. The spacious setting was deeply relaxing. The staff were also attentive and offered many helpful suggestions for sightseeing and dining. One regret is that due to my schedule I couldn’t try the breakfast at Heian Shrine. I heard you can enjoy breakfast during an exclusive time before it opens to the public, with close-up views of the Shin’en garden. I definitely want to experience it next time.

Away from the bustle of everyday life, I was able to spend a truly relaxing time. My stay at “Kasumi-san” was pure bliss. Every corner of the Accommodation had a refined, calming atmosphere, and I could feel IFOO’s attention to detail throughout—from the design to the architecture. In the quietly flowing time, I was able to savor this rich space at a leisurely pace. The chicken rice breakfast made with chicken broth simmered for four hours was also exceptional. This is the best Accommodation imaginable. I will definitely return.

From check-in to check-out, the hospitality was exceptional throughout our stay. Every in-room amenity featured a top-tier brand, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect. From the Frette bedding and linens to the Bertrami pajamas, everything felt wonderfully soft and comfortable. After 5:00 p.m., we were also able to enjoy a maiko performance in the living room with a glass of champagne in hand—an unforgettable way to experience Kyoto culture.

Wanting to refresh away from the everyday hustle, I visited Hacienda Karuizawa on a solo trip from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Despite its unbeatable location—just a 1-minute walk from Karuizawa Station—the moment you open the door, the bustle outside fades away as if it were a lie, and you’re enveloped in refined fragrance and calm. In this intimate Accommodation with only nine Rooms (the interiors supervised by The Conran Shop are truly wonderful), it’s easy to unwind—and best of all, as a guest benefit, I could use the “Aqua Ignis Garden Spa” and the “Share Lounge” free of charge. After gently loosening up in the spa’s sauna and open-air bath, I spent time in the Share Lounge reading whatever book I liked… I was able to fully enjoy blissful moments undisturbed by anyone. The staff’s sense of distance is perfect as well; their warm hospitality made me feel welcome even as a solo traveler. Beyond how comfortable the Room is, having full access to both the spa and lounge adds up to an experience that is unquestionably “worth more than the price.” Even with such excellent access from Tokyo, there’s nowhere else that lets you reset so deeply and truly indulge yourself. This is my precious hideaway—one I want to return to again as a reward for myself, in every season.

We took a 3-night, 4-day trip to Oita with our 4-year-old daughter and stayed here in Yufuin on the final night. Since we had spent the previous two nights at a large Hotel in Beppu, we chose this place because we wanted to relax somewhere quiet in Yufuin. Each guest room is set apart like a separate annex, and the nostalgic atmosphere—like visiting a countryside grandparent’s home—was wonderfully calming. For our daughter, everything felt new and exciting since she doesn’t have things like shoji screens, sliding doors, or a kotatsu at home, and she really enjoyed it. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious, and the baths were not crowded, so we could fully enjoy the spacious open-air bath at our own pace. It was also great that even though it’s in such a convenient location with easy access to Yunotsubo Kaido just a short walk along the river, we could still stay in peace and quiet. I’m glad we were able to end our Oita trip at this Accommodation—it became a wonderful memory for us.

The staff’s hospitality was wonderful, and the dinner was truly delicious, allowing us to fully enjoy our time at the Hotel. Thank you very much. We would definitely like to visit again.

The Asama Onsen district spreads across the eastern part of Matsumoto City, climbing up the foothill slope. The Accommodation is built on the hillside, and the road in front of the entrance is only one lane wide. After leaving your luggage at the Accommodation, you move to the parking area via a narrow alley-like passage about 2 meters wide. If you have a larger car, it seems better to enter from another wider road, park there first, and then carry your luggage. This is an old Accommodation; the furniture and fittings are also old but of good quality, carefully maintained, and immaculately cleaned. The hospitality feels heartfelt; while some younger staff may seem a little awkward, they are poised and dignified. You can sense the refined quality of a prestigious Accommodation. The Room—created by combining two rooms into one—has well-chosen furniture and furnishings. It is calming and comfortable. In the in-room bath, hot natural spring water flows directly from the source; unless you truly love very hot baths, you will want to add cold water to adjust it. For smaller guests, it is deep enough to soak up to your shoulders and long enough to stretch out your legs. Opening the large window facing the garden lets in wonderfully refreshing air. The large public bath and private bath are spacious with a comfortable temperature. The lockers are solid as well. A table adapted from a lacquered low dining table is paired with chairs that are easy to sit on. The dishes brought to your Room one after another at just the right timing are genuine gourmet cuisine—anticipation and satisfaction continue throughout. Allergy accommodations and requests regarding disliked ingredients were handled perfectly. Interestingly—and elegantly—the menu does not list the head chef’s name. There is a separate bedroom with very comfortable beds. It is quiet.

The property was wonderful, with the hostess and all the staff being attentive and considerate. We are truly grateful for accommodating our unreasonable requests. The room and hallway were well-maintained, and the garden exuded a dignified beauty. Thank you for taking care of us.

I visited with a friend for our once-a-year, slightly indulgent girls’ trip. The Accommodation seems to be located right in front of a local bus stop, but part of the national highway on the bus route was closed due to a landslide and buses were taking a detour, meaning extra travel time from both Takayama and Matsumoto. So my friend drove from Nagoya instead. We took a short break at the Hirugano Kogen Service Area to enjoy the magnificent scenery, and arrived comfortably in just under three hours with no traffic. There were spots with some snow remaining along the sides of the road, but there was no snow on the road itself. Even so, it gets cold in the mornings and evenings, so winter tires are recommended for peace of mind in case of icy conditions. The building is kept impeccably clean and is wrapped in a pleasant quietness and the lovely aroma of charcoal from the irori hearth—while our Room had no odor at all. We were welcomed into a spacious Room with delicious homemade pound cake as part of their hospitality, and as we chatted comfortably, time flew by. The cuisine was truly outstanding—bringing out the full flavor of each ingredient while presenting combinations and plating unlike anything I’d experienced before, far exceeding its reputation and my expectations. As richer foods have started to leave me feeling heavy or unwell the next day over recent years, I especially appreciated how refined every dish was; it felt like food I could happily enjoy even in my 80s without any heaviness. The chef’s and staff’s genuine desire for guests to enjoy themselves came through clearly. Perhaps because of the high altitude, alcohol seemed to hit more quickly—and since I also wanted to bathe—I unfortunately didn’t get around to trying the local craft beer or sake provided in our Room. Still, stepping outside after the sauna into crisp mountain air with grand peaks right before us felt incredible. The private hot Onsen bath attached to our Room—hotter than expected—with jazz at night and birdsong in the morning was pure luxury: an unbelievably relaxing stay beyond what I could imagine. I’d love to return to experience another season’s cuisine as well—I’ve become a true fan. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

Thank you very much for taking such great care of us during our stay. It was our first trip to Shikoku, and it became a truly memorable journey. The warm welcome at check-in helped us relax after sightseeing in the heat. We really appreciated the drink service in the lobby. The Onsen was clean and very pleasant. The meals were delicious, and we strongly felt we want to eat them again—especially the dashi (shabu-shabu), which was outstanding! The Room was a good size, but we noticed a slight odor in the Room. We weren’t sure what it was—possibly alcohol or something from the Facility—but that part was disappointing. Thank you for your heartfelt service. There’s no doubt many more guests will continue to visit Shikishimakan—it’s a wonderful Accommodation!

We stayed as a family with my parents, daughter, and us as a couple. This was our second time experiencing the Machiya style, and the air conditioning allowed for comfortable temperature control in each room. We enjoyed meals and family time in the Japanese-style room on the first floor, watching TV and relaxing together. The breakfast delivery from Izusen was delicious. Please note that large vehicles cannot be parked on-site; nearby parking lots are recommended for those traveling by car. In autumn, the garden's autumn leaves must be stunning. Famous spots like Hyotei (known for its morning porridge), Nanzenji Temple, Heian Shrine, and Shoren-in Temple are within walking distance. A short stroll also reveals charming streets full of traditional atmosphere.

I stayed for three nights at Building B, Jihacaya. In the end, Building B seemed to suit us best. We really enjoyed having coffee while watching the early morning sea on the spacious balcony, doing a bit of work in the morning, having tea while watching the sunset, continuing our drinks after returning from dinner. We also loved all of it: the kitchen space, washing machine, large bed with a view from the window, and bathtub with an ocean view from the window. We both said that it would be nice to stay here for about a week and have what is called a workation. As written in Property's concept, buildings are built to blend into nature and create a comforting scenery. Especially during this time before Okinawa's tourist season begins, it's perfect for escaping cold weather and stress. Since Hamabe no Chaya was closed during this period, we had breakfast at Yama no Chaya Rakusui instead but still enjoyed it very much. The staff welcomed us warmly and we were deeply moved by their hospitality. Thank you very much. We definitely want to visit again.

We stayed here with children. All the necessary amenities (cooking utensils, tableware, etc.) were well provided, and we could really feel the owner’s attention to detail, including the interior design. The moment you step into the Room, you can’t help but think, “Wonderful!” Above all, the view of the ocean from the second floor is exceptional—like a painting. The weather during our stay wasn’t great, but we’d love to visit again on a clear day. (It’s still a lovely view even when it’s cloudy.) There aren’t any convenience stores or supermarkets nearby, but within about a 15-minute drive there are cafés, small shops, and activity providers—so you won’t have any trouble. A beautiful beach is also within walking distance. There’s also a small local shop nearby, so basic items like drinks, cup noodles, and snacks are easy to get. Having a washer-dryer, extra towels, and a large refrigerator was extremely helpful for a longer stay as well. The only downside is that there is no handrail on the stairs, so it feels unsafe to let small children go up and down on their own. It might be scary for older guests too. All in all, this is definitely a place we’d like to stay again when visiting Ishigaki Island.

We stayed for two nights at the end of February and had a relaxing time. We traveled with our elderly parents and our dog, and the Room felt very Kyoto-like—neither overly modern nor too traditional, with just the right touch of Japanese style. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, including a toaster, coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator, and even the cutlery was perfect. We were also grateful for the generous complimentary drinks in the fridge (beer and cola), which almost felt too much to accept. The bathtub was extra-large for a home-style tub—big enough that it felt like a family of four could all relax comfortably. It made us so happy that such a wonderful Room is dog-friendly. We would love to stay again in a different Room next time. If I could make one request: having two toilets on each floor would make it even easier for families with small children or elderly guests to stay without hesitation. Please consider this when you expand or add new dog-friendly spaces in the future.

During the Obon holiday, we spontaneously decided on a trip to Iwate and were lucky to find availability for accommodation. We stayed as a couple in a luxurious traditional Japanese house located on the site of an old castle. We bought local ingredients and sake from a nearby supermarket and enjoyed cooking ourselves. The joy of savoring fresh vegetables and meat we personally selected is one of the unique pleasures of having the entire place to ourselves. The facility provided plenty of dishes and glasses for use. For breakfast, complimentary homemade crispy green peppers, eggplants, rice, and more were offered. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are modern and comfortable. The surroundings are incredibly quiet, with sounds of insects at night and birds in the morning creating a nostalgic countryside atmosphere. As someone who grew up in an old countryside house myself, I found many inspiring ideas for renovations here. The owner was kind throughout our stay while maintaining just the right amount of distance for comfort. This is a place that makes you want to return every year. Thank you very much!
