Nanzenji Sando Kikusui is a special place filled with everything we love, and staying here becomes a happy time to share it all with family. A beautiful Kyoto garden in fresh spring green, exquisite cuisine and wine, welcome Champagne, luxurious Rooms, and the staff’s hospitality—plus the one-of-a-kind location on Nanzenji Sando. Few Accommodations offer all of this. This time, we woke up early to join the dawn zazen session at Nanzen-ji Temple, which became an unforgettable experience. It is worth traveling here even if it means taking a flight just to visit.

The private dining Room was spacious and set apart from the others, so we could enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace without any interaction with other guests. We were able to try both loin and belly pork for the shabu-shabu, and the vegetables were truly delicious. The staff were very courteous, and we had a wonderfully comfortable stay. At first I wondered about having sofas in the Onsen, but once I saw it in person, it made sense—and it was so comfortable that I was genuinely impressed. Thank you very much.

We made a Reservation because the Room has a reclining bath. Our plan for the day was to soak in it at night while looking up at the sky, but since it rained, we thought we would just relax and listen to the sound of the rain. However, there were so many insects that we gave up on using it at night. The Ryokan staff said it was an unusually heavy day for insects as well. We took it positively as proof of how rich the nature is, and enjoyed the reclining bath slowly after sunrise instead. It was truly surrounded by nature, and the bath felt wonderful. As for dinner, my husband and I are not good with river fish, so we ended up leaving some behind—sorry about that. The quantity and flavor were more than enough; it was an excellent meal. Regarding service, I can’t go into details, but there was something where I caused trouble. When I explained this to the front desk staff, they instead apologized for any inconvenience to us. I’m not comfortable with overly close service, but their sense of distance was just right, and we had a very pleasant day. We would like to visit again in winter.

I visited after a mountain hike. At check-in, we were offered only a cold hand towel, with no tea or sweets, and were shown to our Room. The Accommodation is small, but it felt clean throughout, including the Room, so we were able to stay comfortably in that respect. There was also complimentary beer service, but it was a bit disappointing that it was served in a cup rather than a mug or glass. The bath uses mineral spring water and has no taste or smell. I didn’t notice anything in particular while soaking, but after a while my skin felt smooth. Also, as time passed my body warmed up nicely, so it’s a good bath. As the Reviews said, the meals featured plenty of Toyama ingredients. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, but I think the dining experience would be even better with some explanation of the dishes. That said, during the meal the staff member in charge only said things like “Here you are” and “I’ll clear these,” which felt a little impersonal. I could hear another staff member serving the table behind us saying things like “Would you like more rice?” and “Would you like seconds?”, so it may depend on each person’s approach—but I wished for slightly more guest-focused service from our attendant. I was also concerned about there being cameras installed in several places; it felt somewhat like being watched. If they were placed more discreetly or with more consideration, it might feel less uncomfortable. Overall though, I think it was a good Accommodation.

Unfortunately, it rained with occasional cloudy skies, so it was a shame we couldn’t enjoy the spacious garden terrace in sunny weather. Going down the stairs without a handrail felt a bit scary because it seemed slippery, but overall we were satisfied.

We stay here after traveling abroad. The Onsen is very relaxing, and the meals are exceptionally delicious. The staff are wonderful as well, and it has become our go-to Accommodation after every trip.

We appreciate your flexibility in adjusting the meal time even when we couldn’t arrive as scheduled due to traffic. Regarding the large public bath, it closes at 9:30 a.m., so we would be grateful if it could stay open a little longer in the morning. Thank you for your courteous service.

I stayed at this Accommodation as the destination for a long solo road trip. The exterior and interior have a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere—there’s even a barbershop inside the Hotel—and it feels like a dignified, classic Hotel from a good old time. Even the low ceilings, typical of older Hotels, felt comforting and relaxing. As for the Room itself, some furnishings do show their age, but everything was well maintained and thoroughly cleaned, which gave me great peace of mind. I used the top-floor restaurant for breakfast; even the retro chairs were carefully cared for, and you can really tell they’re valued and kept in good condition. The bathroom facilities were well maintained and clean, and things like the air conditioner controller had been updated to be easy to use today. And the in-room TV was a 50-inch smart TV—perfectly comfortable for me since I travel with a Fire TV stick. I enjoyed streaming without any cut-off screens late into the night. Because of work I haven’t been able to travel as often lately, but when I finally managed to make time and plan this trip, choosing this Accommodation as my destination was absolutely ideal. Breakfast was as satisfying as others have written—I ate too much. Newly built Hotels are all modern and spotless and tend to grab your attention, but keeping an older Hotel’s furnishings clean, beautiful, safe, and in good condition takes steady behind-the-scenes effort from the staff every day—and that’s when you truly see what hospitality is all about. If I have another chance, I’d love to visit again with staying at this Accommodation as my main purpose. Thank you very much for such a comfortable stay.

Great location and very convenient. The in-room facilities are a bit dated, but everything is clean and more than satisfactory. I booked a single, but the bed was quite wide (possibly upgraded by the Hotel?), making it very comfortable. Having plenty of power outlets is also surprisingly useful. I really appreciate being able to check the laundry availability in real time. Excellent value for money—this has become my go-to Hotel in Kyoto, and I’ve already made Reservations for multiple stays up to a year ahead. Next time, I’ll try a plan with meals included. Thank you very much for your hospitality. The location was very convenient, close to Tokyo Station, which was a great help. The front desk staff were very kind, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. Breakfast was also delicious. I would love to stay again in the future.

The location was excellent (close to Sendai Station, the shopping arcade, and especially the downtown area), the price was reasonable, and I was very satisfied with the breakfast buffet. In addition, the Hotel front desk staff were helpful, and even when there were many cars in use, parking was available at the affiliated parking lot (Dai-Sendai Parking), which was also very close and convenient. I would like to stay here again next time I visit Sendai City.

I had to travel on short notice and booked this Hotel while looking for a place to stay in Tokyo as a stopover. It was close to the station and easy to find, the amenities were well stocked, and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was included, but unfortunately I had to check out without having it due to my departure time. There are many restaurants nearby, so if I have another chance, I would like to make a Reservation again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

In these times of rising prices, I truly appreciated the excellent service at such a reasonable rate. It was a wonderful Hotel. The Onsen was outstanding—I could tell it was silky-smooth and acidic. Kusatsu is amazing. Thank you, and I look forward to staying with you again.

It was a tatami Room, so I was able to relax very much!!

I’ve been using it for a long time, and I believe it is managed exceptionally well—far superior to Tabo Facility.

Overall, the space was comfortable and I was mostly satisfied, but if I had to mention something, the Room air conditioner could not be set to a comfortable temperature and it felt cold. Also, while the disposable Room slippers looked clean, they were uncomfortable to wear, and it was a bit disappointing that long hairs stuck out on the bright white slippers, suggesting the carpet may not have been cleaned thoroughly.

I stayed here on a trip to Beppu and Oita that also included watching rugby. It’s a modern, average Business Hotel, but it’s conveniently close to the dining and nightlife area and right next to the bus stop from Oita Airport. Beppu Station is also within walking distance. Personally, I’d like it even more if the large public bath had a sauna. There is a pleasant fragrance near the elevators.

The location, service, and facilities offered more value than the price. I had a pleasant stay and would like to use it again.

It was a clean Hotel and conveniently close to the station! The Room was spacious, and it was great that the bath, washbasin area, and toilet were separate. We stayed in a twin Room, but since the two beds were pushed right together, it felt a bit cramped... Still, it was a very comfortable Room. Breakfast was delicious as well. The front desk staff’s service felt a bit mechanical, which was somewhat disappointing... especially on a trip.

I like the spacious Room in the main building. The bath and toilet are separate as well. However, despite the quiet surroundings, the air conditioner noise is strangely loud, and sensitive guests may not be able to sleep. Shoes are not allowed indoors, so especially in summer it feels uncomfortable unless you bring your own slippers. Socks also get dirty. It was disappointing that the Pac-Man arcade machine on the 3rd floor was not working. I had breakfast for the first time in a while and it was good. There is quite a luxurious variety of dishes. I would like to know the dining hours on the 2nd floor.
