Izu Kogen Hotel Five Stars

The “Small-portion Gourmet Kaiseki” was just the right amount for seniors, and over our two-night stay the dinner was excellent in terms of ingredients, preparation, and seasoning. The breakfast also offered a variety of small dishes, and we were very satisfied from the morning with both dried fish and sashimi. The Onsen, Facility, and Room were clean and well maintained, and the staff were extremely attentive throughout our two-night stay. True to its name, it provided a five-star experience and made our trip to Izu a wonderful one.

Since my wife began dialysis treatment in January, we have stayed at highly rated Accommodations in Shimoda, Kawazu, Isawa, and Izu Kogen—each within about a two-hour drive. As her glaucoma has worsened and she is scheduled for surgery, we are now looking for an Accommodation where she can feel safe and comfortable even with reduced vision. We stayed at Five Stars for one night in March and again in May, and were very satisfied with the hospitality, cuisine, and Facilities. There are a few steps on the way to the Room, but once inside, any trip hazards such as floor level changes seem to be kept to a minimum. We live in an apartment building, so it felt natural and comfortable—much like being at home. This time we avoided using the large public bath; although it is not an Onsen, my wife was still happy with the bathtub in our Room. Because of some dietary restrictions we choose smaller portions and enjoy additional à la carte dishes as well. Once again we were impressed by the careful preparation, seasoning, and presentation. The kind conversations with all staff members also gave us great peace of mind. We are planning our next stay in early winter and are very much looking forward to it.
