    The check-in experience was disappointing.

    I had been really looking forward to this Hotel, so the check-in experience was extremely disappointing. At check-in, I showed my IKYU Reservation Number and Reservation details, but the front desk could not locate my Reservation for quite some time. During that time, there was no apology or consideration such as “Thank you for waiting,” and instead I was questioned in a tone like, “Are you sure you have a Reservation?” and “What dates are you staying?” The stay dates and Reservation Number were clearly stated in the details, and as an international traveler I provided all necessary information. After some time, only after I repeatedly pointed out my name written in Roman letters on the Reservation screen did they finally confirm it. This made me very anxious that I might miss the dinner time I had reserved. The front desk service was at a level I have never experienced at other Hotels, and I strongly hope it will be improved. On the other hand, the location is convenient, the room size is just right, and both the property and rooms were kept clean. It was also great that I could borrow a foot massager free of charge to relieve travel fatigue. Aside from the check-in experience, my stay was comfortable. If that point is improved, I believe this would be an even more satisfying Hotel.

    The Birth of a New ERA

    I understand that “ERA” means “an era” in English, which may feel somewhat geared toward international guests, but the Hotel felt fresh in many ways. It’s a newly opened Hotel in front of Sapporo Station—an area packed with Business Hotels—and you can really sense their determination to stand out. The location is very convenient: about a 5-minute walk from the North Exit of Sapporo Station, right by Hokkaido University’s South Gate, and it’s also easy to get through to the station’s South Exit. When you step off the elevator on the lobby floor, the first thing you notice is a stock of alcohol. The check-in counter feels more like a bar counter, and check-in is basically done at the self-service machine in front of it. A staff member kindly helped me, so everything went smoothly. The Room layout feels quite innovative. The built-in sofa chair, mirror, outlet placement—there are lots of thoughtful touches that I appreciated. The Serta bed was extremely comfortable and left me feeling energized for the next day. Officially checkout is at 10:00, which felt a bit early, but I was told it can be extended to 11:00 by registering as a member. They also seem particular about details: both the shower head and hair dryer were ReFa products—something many women would likely appreciate. The lounge on the lobby floor is free for guests and can be used both before check-in and after checkout. Soft drinks and snacks are available, and since it also functions as a library space, it’s great for passing time or reading documents. I was grateful to be able to use it even after checkout. This time I had breakfast as well. There isn’t an extensive selection, but you can feel their effort throughout—and each item was delicious. As someone who values quality over quantity, I was very satisfied. There were three varieties each of Hokkaido dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt, butter), and comparing them was genuinely fun. I assumed soup curry would be the main highlight—and it truly was excellent—with plenty of vegetables included; I was impressed. The staff also seemed fully committed to making this new style work. The NEW ERA concept came through clearly—in a very positive way.

    A compact yet highly functional Hotel overall

    [Pros] - A new Hotel with a clean feel. - Free drinks such as coffee are available in the library café space on the 2nd floor. There are also comics by manga artists connected to Hokkaido. - The Room is compact but well designed and easy to use. It’s especially nice that the toilet and bath are separate. - The Room (I believe it was a Queen Economy) has a small table and seating for two. - The shower is excellent, with adjustable water flow volume and spray patterns. - Four pillows (for the Queen Economy). - A quiet area near Sapporo Station North Exit. - Hokkaido University campus is within walking distance. [Cons] - It’s a bit of a walk from the station, and there is no underground passage, so in winter it may be tough pulling luggage through snowy streets. - Check-out is at 10:00, which feels a little early. - If you’re mainly going for Susukino, it’s not an easy walk (two subway stops from Sapporo Station). - The in-room refrigerator switch was hard to find (I had to ask the front desk).

    I stayed on my birth...

    I stayed on my birthday. Thank you for the gift of sweets—I was very happy. Both the facilities and the Room were very clean. The YA-MAN hair dryer and ReFa shower head provided in the Room were excellent. I would love to stay again if I have the opportunity.

    Highly recommended!

    I’ve stayed at various Hotels on business trips to Sapporo, and this one was the most relaxing. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to take it easy and unwind at the Hotel.

    Visited on the third...

    Visited on the third day of opening. The Room was clean, comfortable, and the staff provided very kind service—thank you. I also appreciated the hair iron rental. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Hokkaido.
