    Family Trip

    As this was my first stay, I was a bit worried about the Room size, but it was completely comfortable with no concerns. I also enjoyed the late-night snack. I didn’t use the bath, so I didn’t rate it.

    Spacious and relaxing

    It looked small in the photos, but the relatively high ceiling made it feel less cramped, which was nice. I was a bit worried after reading older Reviews, but when taking off your shoes at the entrance, there are measures to keep suitcase wheels from bringing in dirt; there’s also a ramp and disposable slippers provided, which I appreciated. The large public bath has security so I felt safe, and since no one else happened to be there, I could relax in the spacious tub and enjoy the pleasant hot water. Meals were served by a friendly staff member, which gave a warm feeling, and everything was delicious. The small side dishes were also beautifully presented.

    Great for an overnight stay.

    I stayed in Nakatsugawa the night before to attend the Kashimo Meijiza Classic Concert the next day. I arrived earlier than expected, but they kindly showed me to my Room early—much appreciated! Inside the building, you take off your shoes, which caught me off guard at first, but I had brought indoor slippers so I was able to stay comfortable. The cafe space has high ceilings and feels clean and uncluttered. Overall it doesn’t have a particularly relaxing atmosphere, but it’s comfortable as a place to stay. You can take a walk nearby, and there are plenty of restaurants around, so it was easy and pleasant to spend time there.

    Cozy Japanese-modern style

    It was very comfortable to stay at a Hotel where you can take off your shoes and walk around inside. The building and the Room were new and clean. What I especially loved was the breakfast: fresh cut fruit and juice, local specialty mini gohei-mochi, warm sweet red bean sticky rice onigiri, and other carefully handmade items. Everything was delicious and I was very satisfied. My only complaint is that I’m not comfortable wearing a yukata with an obi, so I wish there had been a separate top-and-bottom samue-style outfit—it would have been easier to wear and more comfortable to sleep in. It may be part of the Japanese-style concept, but it was a bit disappointing. Also, there was quite a lot of standing water on the floor inside the large public bath area, which felt unpleasant and made me worry about slipping while walking. Overall, I think it’s a lovely Hotel with great value for money. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Room

    I stayed in a 4-person Room with bunk beds, but I hit my head twice on the ceiling of the upper bunk when getting out of the lower bed. The ceiling is too low, and there is no padding, making it very dangerous. Additionally, the stairs to the second floor are at a right angle, making it very difficult to go up and down safely. I believe this should be reconsidered for safety reasons.

    Clean and stylish

    The interior is clean and pleasant. Eco-friendly efforts are noticeable. The coffee in the lobby is available anytime and tastes great. Conveniently located near the station with excellent access. Local area guides are well-prepared and helpful. The breakfast offers a variety of local specialties, which were delicious and enjoyable.

    New, clean, and perfectly located.

    A charming Hotel located along the old Nakasendo road, still new with clean floors as you take off your shoes at the entrance and walk barefoot. The amenities are more than sufficient, and the bath is spacious (the strong shower is perfect for relieving muscle pain!). Breakfast is delicious and satisfying, featuring exceptional chestnut rice and chimaki. You can also enjoy curry and beef bowls to your heart's content, leaving you full enough to skip lunch. Conveniently, there’s a 24-hour parking lot next door for just 500 yen. On weekdays, it’s less crowded—an excellent Business Hotel overall!

    The price and quality were excellent. Everything was perfect except for the slightly confusing parking area.

    The accommodation had a wonderful bath.

    This was my first time staying here. The wooden floors felt very pleasant as you take off your shoes upon entering. However, there is a bit of a walk from the entrance to the front desk, where three staff members were visible but did not greet us or other guests and were instead chatting among themselves, which made me feel uneasy. Since it’s a no-shoes policy, I wasn’t sure if I could bring my suitcase in directly, but there was no guidance provided. Check-in felt very procedural without any welcoming smiles or gestures, which was disappointing. There was no explanation about the complimentary ochazuke service or amenities; it seemed like we were expected to figure things out on our own. The elevator had carpet flooring that appeared wet—possibly from spilled water—which soaked through my socks. Additionally, the air conditioning filters on our floor were dusty and seemed poorly maintained; this resulted in poor ventilation with noticeable humidity and what smelled more like mold than hinoki wood as mentioned in other reviews. The large bath area also had issues with cleanliness; for example, the hairdryer filters were covered in dust. Overall, it gave an impression of insufficient cleaning throughout the property. When I tried the ochazuke service later on, some broth containers were empty while condiment tables and dining surfaces remained dirty. I initially thought this might be a renovated older building but was surprised to learn it’s newly constructed—it didn’t feel that way at all due to these maintenance issues. Every time we went out or returned during our stay, what stood out most was seeing staff chatting amongst themselves without engaging with guests. The only highlight of my stay was enjoying the bath facilities—they allowed me a brief moment of relaxation amidst an otherwise underwhelming experience.

    Family Trip

    We stayed during Obon with our family. The Hotel had plenty of wooden elements, creating a very calming atmosphere. There was also a festival-like event where we enjoyed delicious beer and popcorn. Although it was just an overnight stay before going to see cormorant fishing, we were extremely satisfied. We will definitely stay again!

    It was said to be a 7-minute walk from the station, but with several interesting shops along the way, it felt even closer. The room was functional and easy to use, making it perfect for business purposes. Although the guest room only had a shower booth, there was an Onsen available, so I could enjoy bathing without any issues. For women, the high-performance hairdryer is also a delightful feature.

    Regarding the Public Bath

    One point to mention is that overseas guests may not be familiar with the proper usage of the public bath. While there is a note in English about "pouring water over yourself" before entering, it would be helpful to include a notice about washing your body beforehand, as this is common practice in Japan. In contrast, many Westerners are accustomed to soaking in the bathtub first and then washing their bodies, which raises concerns about cleanliness of the bathwater. Please consider adding a note regarding "washing your body." Other than that, the Room was clean, and the staff provided excellent service. The variety of breakfast options was satisfying. Although small, the public bath had comfortable water temperature and very pleasant amenities like shampoo and other toiletries.

    Comfortable and functional Hotel

    This was my first stay in Nakatsugawa. It’s a short walk from the station, easy to find and not too far. The room is functional in design, with a washbasin inside the living space but separated by a door from the bed area, which worked well. The room has only a shower, but there is a large public bath that was very relaxing. There’s also a shopping mall nearby and plenty of restaurants, making it convenient. Breakfast was very delicious as well. With coworking spaces available in town and the lounge here suitable for work, I think it would be great to visit again for remote work if I have the chance.

    It was full of foreign guests.

    There were many disappointments during my third stay. 1. The tasteful room furnishings from before are gone (due to theft?) 2. A sign saying "Under Surveillance" by security cameras in the amenities area (a situation where guests have to be suspected?) 3. Broken lockers in the large bath left unattended, amenities also withdrawn 4. Guests entering the bath without washing their bodies first, and with towels wrapped around them 5. Due to the system of removing shoes, there was a musty smell as soon as I entered, which was disappointing from the entrance (it wasn't like this before) It feels like a lie compared to the days when I was surrounded by the scent of wood at the time of opening and went to the antenna shop a minute's walk away to buy wonderful amenities. It's truly disappointing. I hope for a revival somehow... I'm rooting for you.
