    I’ve been won over!

    I stayed here last year to celebrate my birthday, and loved it so much that I returned again this year for my birthday celebration. This time, I truly appreciate your even more thoughtful hospitality. Thanks to you, I was able to relax wholeheartedly in the Room. This year’s concept was to take things slow at a Hotel. First, I enjoyed a Multiple Night Stay at a wonderful Hotel in Umekoji. Then I came here. The atmosphere is different, yet even better. It feels very calm and serene. I think it’s because you make the most of the location by the Kamo River and help guests experience Kyoto in such a comfortable way. Even though it’s right in the bustle of Shijo-Kawaramachi, this is a space where you don’t feel any of that at all—remarkable. Your affiliated HIYORI Ocean Resort Okinawa is also one of my favorites—a wonderful Hotel that lets you truly feel the beauty of Onna Village. And now SORANIWA Terrace Kyoto has won me over too! At this rate, I’ll probably be back again for my birthday next year.

    The terrace is nice, but it’s too hot.

    The Room, Onsen, and service were all excellent, and we had a very comfortable stay. Just one thing: the welcome drink was served on the rooftop terrace, which was a wonderful service. However, it was simply too hot during summer, so we would be even happier if it could also be offered in an indoor space.

    The laundry area is covered in dust, smells like cigarette smoke, and won’t open.

    The Front Desk, lounge, and Onsen are on the 9th floor, and the layout was relaxing. However, the laundry facilities were the worst I’ve ever experienced. They’re only on B1, with just two washing machines and two dryers. Right after getting off the elevator is a smoking area, so the hallway already reeks of cigarettes. The dryers had dust on top and even on the door, and every time you open it, dust still flies around. I don’t know when they were last cleaned; there was also dust and tissue-like litter scattered in the hallway. The laundry machines require 100-yen coins, but there’s no change machine—and even the vending machine nearby was out of change, so I couldn’t make 100-yen coins. It’s crowded. I waited until 1:00 a.m. just to do laundry, but someone else’s load kept running in the dryer and it never became available. I checked the remaining time, went back to my Room to wait until it opened up, then started my cycle when it finally did. I went back to my Room again and returned after checking the time—but my clothes weren’t dry. Most likely someone opened the machine mid-cycle and it forcibly stopped (I came back exactly on time and it showed 0; normally it should display “CD” (cool down) and keep running for a while). I didn’t stay here to end up sleep-deprived.

    Relax like you’re at home.

    Kyoto in summer is extremely hot and quite humid, so you can get worn out quickly. Stopping by a cafe to cool down is nice, but having a Hotel Room that feels like home makes things far more comfortable. With easy access from the city bus and Hankyu Kawaramachi-Shijo Station, it was wonderful to take a break between sightseeing and cool off in a chilled Room during our strolls. Another great service is being able to head straight to the Onsen empty-handed and rinse off the sweat. Everything in the Hotel was spotless, and we were able to relax comfortably as if we were at home.

    I was finally able t...

    I was finally able to see the Gion Festival parade and the famous turning at intersections. In the peak of summer heat, I made a Reservation for a Hotel as close as possible for seniors. It was about a 5-minute walk from the Hotel to the parade route. The Hotel was clean, drinks were available anytime, and the service was excellent. It became a wonderful memory.

    Great location and Onsen.

    We stayed for 2 nights with No Meals Included. The location is perfect as a base for sightseeing, with plenty of dining options to choose from. After walking around a lot, it was great to recover in the Onsen. Yasaka-no-Yu, with its panoramic views, was especially wonderful. The Room was compact but easy to use and very clean. Just one thing—this may have been a one-off, but when we returned to the Room after cleaning, the bed throw and pillows were placed on the sofa, which made it feel like the cleaning had been left unfinished, and that was disappointing. We would definitely like to stay again.

    Loved it—definitely coming back!

    The reception is on the 9th floor, but since I had some time before check-in, I left my luggage at a counter near the entrance that seemed like a reception desk. The bath switched between men and women in the early morning, but it was clean and relaxing. The washing area had chairs with backrests. There was also a section of the tub about 1.2 m deep, which I really liked. I booked with breakfast, so when I went to the front desk around 7:30, I expected to be shown where to go... but instead I was handed a boxed meal, tea, and miso soup in a cup—what a surprise. I've stayed in many places, but this was my first time having a boxed breakfast... However! Every dish was delicious, and the miso soup was so good I wanted seconds! The location is great too, so I think I'll stay here again!

    A Hotel where you can truly relax and unwind from the heart.

    This was my second stay. I love traveling and have stayed at many Hotels, and this is one of my favorites. The Room has a wonderful atmosphere, and you can really feel how thoughtfully everything has been arranged with great attention to detail. Above all, every staff member responds politely with a smile. I don’t like service that feels over the top, but everyone here provides just the right level of warm, comfortable hospitality—something you rarely find even at well-known Hotels. I would love to come again to truly relax and recharge.

    It was incredibly juicy and truly impressive.

    The ingredients are quite ordinary, but in the chef’s hands they become incredibly juicy and take on a whole new depth of flavor—I was truly amazed. I would love to visit again.

    I’d like to stay here again.

    This was my third stay, and I was very satisfied with both the location and the service. The “Koto no Tamatebako” breakfast bento was delicious—the rice was excellent, and the Kyoto-ingredient side dishes were also very enjoyable. Next time, I’d like to try Mr. Higashiyama’s kaiseki-style Japanese breakfast as well. I would love to stay here again.

    As expected, the traditional obanzai breakfast is delicious.

    A few years ago, breakfast was a boxed bento, but this time we chose to eat in the dining area. There was a wide variety of Kyoto pickles, and the food was delicious. Considering the value for money, I was concerned that the Room felt small.

    Wonderful Hotel

    I stayed for one night during my trip to Kyoto, and everything about the Hotel, from the staff's hospitality to the cleanliness of the facilities, was excellent. I had a truly wonderful time and was very satisfied. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Kyoto.

    This accommodation was perfect for our Kyoto trip, as we focused on exploring the Gion area and it was within walking distance with an onsen. Previously, I thought staying near Kyoto Station was more convenient, but I found this location to be very accessible and convenient as well. We chose a no-meal plan this time, but there were plenty of dining options nearby. Although you need to cross the Kamo River, there are many restaurants within a 5-minute walk towards the Gion area. The hotel itself felt new and clean, with comfortable rooms that made our stay pleasant. The onsen was excellent. We could check its availability through the TV home screen and entered when it wasn’t crowded. It was relaxing to soak in at leisure. I would definitely like to stay here again!

    We have many international guests.

    Kyoto, like many other places recently, sees a high number of international guests, and this hotel is no exception. When I first stayed here, most guests were Japanese, but during this visit, everyone except us at the rooftop terrace footbath was an international guest. It’s clear that many people know about this excellent accommodation. The hotel staff's ability to smoothly switch between English, Japanese, and Chinese depending on the guest was also impressive. The location of this accommodation is unbeatable. Trains, buses, and taxis are easily accessible; you can also walk to Gion, Pontocho, or the delicious restaurants around Shijo with ease. Tourist spots are nearby as well—Kiyomizu Temple is less than 2 kilometers away for a morning jog or early visit. Yasaka Shrine is less than 1 kilometer away and perfect for a stroll. Even if you have lots of luggage on your way back, there’s a taxi stand right in front of the hotel for convenience. If there’s no traffic congestion on the roadways to Kyoto Station from here—it costs approximately ¥1,000 by taxi! For groups traveling together especially—this option beats train rides hands-down! While concerns such as small rooms higher accommodation costs predominantly foreign visitors may arise—the prime location scenic views consistent service quality provided by staff make me certain I'll return again soon!

    It is a clean Facility.

    I stayed for one night with no meals included. While it is understandable that catering to inbound tourists is necessary nowadays, this accommodation had very few Japanese guests. Additionally, the room cleaning staff were foreigners, and whether it was due to them or the previous guests, there was a lingering body odor in the room that could not be removed even with Febreze I brought along. It made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. Furthermore, there were foreign guests entering the public bath while still wearing their geta sandals. I wasn’t sure how to address this situation, which made me realize how challenging it can be to meet inbound tourism demands.

    Enjoy natural Onsen in a high-rise building in Kawaramachi.

    Stayed for 2 nights and was satisfied. Highlights: - Relaxing natural Onsen in the downtown area. There is a section with a depth of 1.2m, providing comfortable water pressure. - The room offers a traditional Kyoto-style ambiance. Although I forgot the name, the wooden floor from the entrance to the room had slight unevenness, which felt pleasant to walk on. The room itself had tatami flooring. - Secure environment. Access to the lobby on the 9th floor requires an elevator, and staff at the first-floor entrance check visitors, ensuring that only guests can enter and exit freely. - Friendly and attentive staff who provided excellent service. Areas for improvement: - Room cleaning could be more thorough. It seemed like attention to detail was lacking; for example, there was dust on the bottle of lotion among amenities and dust accumulated at table leg corners as well. - Noise from outdoor bath drainage was bothersome. At one outdoor bath located directly in front of an elevator entrance, there was constant loud suction noise from what seemed like a drainage channel outside of its deep section (1.2m). This noise persisted throughout my time there and detracted from an otherwise great bathing experience. Adding partitions or altering water flow might resolve this issue—please consider checking into it!

    Experience the exceptional hot springs in the heart of Kyoto!

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. Although my stay was short, it was truly wonderful. I sincerely appreciate it. Thank you! If I may be a little indulgent, I would have liked the room to be slightly more spacious, but the hospitality of the staff was on par with that of a five-star hotel overseas. And as for the meals—absolutely delicious! The quintessential Kyoto cuisine! The exquisite flavors and visually stunning presentation left my husband and me in awe from breakfast onwards. Truly, "deliciousness is justice," as they say. Thank you for such an incredible dining experience. Additionally, both the Onsen facility and water quality were exceptional and highly satisfying. I have atopic skin conditions, but it seems this Onsen water suited my skin perfectly; I was amazed at how quickly my irritated skin calmed down. At checkout, I asked a male staff member at the front desk if it would be possible to take some Onsen water in a bottle to use as lotion later on. He kindly fetched some immediately for me—I was deeply moved by his thoughtfulness! Thank you so much again. After returning home, I've been storing it in the fridge and using it gratefully. I can't wait to visit again soon to soak in your wonderful Onsen! This is truly a fantastic hotel that I can recommend to anyone—thank you very much once again!

    Highly Satisfied

    I had been interested in this accommodation even before it opened and always wanted to stay here. It was even more wonderful than I imagined, and even a week after returning home, I still feel the lingering joy of my stay. The room's teapot was a Nambu ironware piece I had always wanted to try, and the fabrics, amenities, chairs, and other furniture and interior designs were all incredibly tasteful and beautiful. When I mentioned this to the front desk staff, they shared with a smile that the proprietress personally selected each item. And above all else, the rooftop terrace was absolutely stunning! Spending two hours soaking my feet in the footbath while enjoying the summer night breeze and gazing at Higashiyama's night view truly healed me from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much for everything. I definitely hope to stay again when I have another opportunity!

    A Hotel Overflowing with Hospitality

    This was my mother's second stay this month, and my brother's first. They returned home completely satisfied. The meals at "Higashiyama" are of consistently excellent quality, as expected. This time, we accidentally left something in the room's refrigerator, but upon contacting the staff, they promptly assisted us. We were able to retrieve the item in perfect condition despite having given up hope. We are truly grateful for the thoughtful care provided by the staff. The hotel as a whole offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere in a wonderful space. We will visit again soon. Thank you very much!

    It was an accommodation with great satisfaction.

    I stayed here with my daughter during our trip. The location and service were excellent, the room was thoughtfully designed, clean, and allowed us to relax comfortably. We enjoyed a welcome drink at the rooftop bar with a foot bath. Since Kyoto doesn't have many tall buildings, it felt luxurious to have a panoramic view of Kamo River and Higashiyama. Although the rooftop is open-air and may not be usable in bad weather, we were lucky to enjoy it right after a passing shower stopped. Breakfast was served in a bento box style; after using the Onsen in the morning, we picked it up on our way back and enjoyed it in our room. This was especially convenient for my daughter who likes to sleep until the last minute. Everything about this stay was wonderful, and I would love to visit again!

    A Hotel Overflowing with Hospitality

    I revisited Kyoto Kaiseki "Higashiyama" because I love their cuisine. The dinner was not only visually stunning but also delicately flavored, and every visit updates my "most delicious meal of the year." The hostess's conversation was enjoyable, and both her kimono and Western attire were elegant. The tea served at the end had a deep umami flavor reminiscent of dashi, leaving me amazed at how much brewing technique and the person preparing it can make a difference. Thank you so much. The staff are attentive, proactive in offering assistance, and their thoughtfulness is evident in various moments. This is a wonderful Hotel where you can experience Kyoto's charm, Onsen relaxation, and gourmet dining all in one place. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you!

    A slightly upgraded version of a Business Hotel

    Overall, the service, amenities, and bath were good. If I were to describe it, it felt like an upgraded version of a functional Business Hotel. The response from the woman at the front desk, who seemed to be a manager, was excellent.

    I love the cuisine at Kyo Kaiseki Higashiyama.

    I visited with my mother. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and the views from the onsen and rooftop were breathtaking. The Kyoto kaiseki cuisine at Higashiyama, prepared by a wonderful hostess, was outstanding. I highly recommend staying with dinner included. I will visit again. Thank you very much!

    Repeat visits may not be considered.

    I chose to make a reservation at this hotel because the rate was slightly more affordable. However, there were some disappointing aspects. The bed in the room I stayed in seemed to have mites, making it difficult to sleep comfortably. Additionally, the bathroom appeared to be not thoroughly cleaned. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, I have stayed at various hotels, but this was my first experience like this and it surprised me.

    Regular accommodation.

    I have stayed at this accommodation in Kyoto multiple times. Recently, I stayed for 4 nights with my daughter during the Gion Matsuri After Festival. Despite the heat, it was convenient to return to the room within 3 minutes to rest when needed. Kiyamachi has many lovely shops and is quieter than Pontocho. We enjoyed kaiseki cuisine on a riverside terrace and had a pancake breakfast at Kakuto in the morning. The hotel features an onsen on the 9th floor with views of Higashiyama. The room was clean, and the staff were cheerful and kind.

    The front desk service is excellent.

    The kind assistance during check-in was excellent. When we asked about dinner options and questions regarding the Gion Festival, they took the time to research on the spot. Despite being busy, they kindly guided us to the rooftop welcome drink area. Additionally, when we brought up a conversation about BOSE earphones, their response was much appreciated. The front desk staff's communication skills were outstanding. At the rooftop terrace, despite working alone in the heat, a female staff member graciously responded with "Of course" when I asked if she could dispose of a plastic bottle for me. Her professionalism left me deeply impressed—it felt like airline-level service! The room and Onsen were absolutely perfect! This Hotel offered incredible hospitality. I will definitely stay here again!

    It was excellent.

    The rooftop bar with a foot bath and welcome drink was very pleasant. The bath was nice, but there were too few washing areas; it was my first time waiting to wash. The room was clean, but the window didn’t have a view, so it’s suitable just for sleeping. All the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, I couldn’t complete the reservation for breakfast as I missed the timing. It’s conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to go anywhere.
