    A conveniently located Hotel with everything you need nearby.

    It was a great stay, conveniently located near a subway station and bus stops for many destinations, with a wide variety of convenience stores and restaurants nearby.

    The rates are high, but the interior is like a standard Hotel.

    After arriving, there were four people in line for check-in, and a Hotel staff member speaking only limited Japanese was desperately trying to handle check-in and luggage storage. I had to wait more than 15 minutes just to check in. If there were other employees talking inside, I felt they should have come out and helped. The Standard Double Room was small, with an unusually high bed. Even though I am 180 cm tall, when I sat on it my feet dangled, so I couldn’t use the bed like a sofa. The Room did not have the amenities listed in the description (only a toothbrush was provided... and I couldn’t find anything in the lobby either). In the Room, I could hear vacuuming and tidying noises from nearby Rooms (next door and across the hall), so I couldn’t relax. Since they knew it was a day-use stay, shouldn’t they be able to adjust the cleaning order or assign Rooms more thoughtfully? I couldn’t understand why they would place guests right next to Rooms being cleaned. The biggest advantage of this Hotel is its convenient location during the Gion Festival. However, you should be aware that seasonal pricing makes it significantly more expensive than usual. I used it to escape the recent heat, but honestly, I felt the price did not match what was offered.

    Reasonable

    I stayed here for sightseeing because of the convenient location. The meals were neither particularly good nor bad. Overall, everything felt very no-frills, and the amenities in particular were quite basic. I also wondered whether the slippers had been sanitized. The bathroom had an odor; it would likely lessen if the ventilation fan worked properly. The staff service was good.

    Gion Festival

    This was my first stay. I expected the Room to be small, but everything else was clean and I was satisfied. I stayed here because of the Gion Festival, and the location was great—I could take breaks while going around, so I was very satisfied. Thank you very much. It was a bit disappointing that there was a dumpling-like smell coming from the refrigerator.

    Solo Trip to Kyoto

    Convenience

    1. Upon arrival at the hotel, there were many tour guests from a neighboring country making loud noise at the entrance, which made me regret my reservation. However, during check-in, the hotel kindly upgraded my room to an upper floor where I could sleep peacefully despite initial concerns about hallway noise and rest. 2. In the room's bathroom area, there was an ammonia smell around the toilet and a foul odor like rotten water coming from the shower curtain, which was very unpleasant. 3. The staff's response was quick and clear; they also helped by storing my luggage before check-in, which was very convenient. However, after check-out, luggage storage was located in a space far from the front desk with minimal security measures, making me feel uneasy about leaving my belongings there. 4. This was my first stay here; its proximity to the station and accessibility to both Hankyu and subway lines were excellent. Additionally, dining options were abundant nearby. In terms of convenience, it is perfect and I would consider staying here again if given another opportunity.

    The shower had very ...

    The shower had very low water pressure, with only a trickle of hot water coming out. The bathroom emitted an unpleasant odor similar to that of a damp cloth, which I believe came from the shower curtain. This is the most disappointing Hotel experience I have ever had.

    The convenient location makes it easy to explore the area by bus or train. However, there was a noticeable difference in service quality between the friendly female staff at the front desk and others.

    Perfect location during the Gion Festival!

    Occasionally used during the Gion Festival. Conveniently located in the center of Yamabokocho, making it easy to visit any spot during both the Saki Matsuri and Ato Matsuri. Since it's a hot season, you can return to your Room for a quick shower or take a short break in the Hotel lobby to prevent heatstroke. On Yoiyama nights, you can hear festival music late into the night, creating an exceptional atmosphere. The Room and amenities are standard with no particular highlights but are satisfactory without complaints. I will likely use this Hotel again during the Gion Festival season.

    The location is excellent.

    I have used this place several times. It is conveniently located near Shijo Station and Karasuma Station, making it great for dining and shopping. However, one concern is the cleanliness of the guest rooms. The carpet on the floor has a pattern that hides dust well, but there was still visible dust and small debris left behind. Additionally, dust had accumulated on top of the air purifier and bed frame. A little improvement in this area would make it perfect!

    Perfect for the Gion Festival

    I visited the Gion Festival's float assembly. The location was excellent as it is situated in the central area. There were many foreign guests, and most of the front desk and cleaning staff were from overseas, but they provided very pleasant service. The Facility, such as the TV and air conditioning, was outdated; it couldn't stream videos, and removing the card key would stop the air conditioning, making it hot upon returning—this was a bit disappointing. Next to the Hotel was a charming alley with lovely shops like a printmaking store and cafes.

    The location is convenient.

    Conveniently located near the station, making transportation easy. The location is great, and you can walk to Yasaka and Kiyomizu, though it’s about a 30-minute walk. The staff was very accommodating. The Room is small but sufficient for sleeping purposes. Thank you!

    Overall, it is relatively expensive.

    I stayed for a business trip. I had never stayed at ibis Styles before, but I chose it as an affordable business hotel from a well-known international chain (less than 10,000 yen per night on weekdays). - **Bathroom Odor** As mentioned in other reviews, there is a strong ammonia-like smell in the bathroom. Even with constant ventilation, it doesn't feel dry in the morning. This might be due to weak ventilation, leaving the bathroom less dry and not very hygienic. - **Air Conditioning Malfunction** It was during consecutive summer days, but the air conditioning was broken (an error message appeared). Since I returned to the room late at night and opening the window made it cool enough, I didn't report this issue until checkout because changing rooms felt inconvenient. However, proper maintenance is necessary. The hallways of the hotel were also hot, raising concerns about whether overall air conditioning is functioning properly. - **Confusing Wi-Fi Instructions** The Wi-Fi SSID provided during check-in differed from what was displayed on the TV guide in my room. Only one of these SSIDs could be found. - **Few Japanese Guests** This isn't necessarily positive or negative; however, being an international hotel located in Kyoto meant that I rarely saw other Japanese guests compared to domestic hotels in Kyoto. - **Room Cleaning** The cleaning met expectations for a business hotel. During my multiple-night stay, my bed was kept clean daily. Overall takeaway: Don't expect too much from international hotels priced under 10,000 yen per night. There are better options available within this price range.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    I stayed for two nights to participate in the Kyoto Marathon. Despite facing a main street, the room was very quiet. Above all, it was in a very convenient location with excellent transportation access. I usually have trouble sleeping due to excitement on the night before a marathon, but this time I was able to sleep soundly, perhaps because the bedding and room environment suited me well. The air purifier with humidifying function was also great. It was within walking distance of highly-rated restaurants found online, which was very helpful for me as an elderly person. It also came in handy for sightseeing the day after the event. I will use it again if I have another opportunity.

    Compact and comfortable. Convenient and practical.

    Stayed for one night during a winter trip to Kyoto. First, I bought a one-day subway and bus ticket at Karasuma, then visited Ryoanji, Tsubakidera, Kinkakuji, and Rokkakudo, bought some sake and dinner at Daimaru, and checked in. The room is neat and tidy. The bathtub is spacious and can warm up your cold body. If you need more beer, you can get it at a nearby convenience store. If I had more energy, I could have extended my trip to Kyoto Station with the one-day ticket, but I went to bed early for the next day's sightseeing. If you want to have dinner outside, there is a food hall on the way down to the underground of Karasuma Station, which might have been a good option. The next morning, I picked up a breakfast bento at the front desk and ate in the room. You can choose from two types, and I had one meat bento and one seaweed bento. (I enjoyed beer from the morning.) Kiyomizu Temple opens at 8 am, so I checked out of the hotel early and took a city bus from the bus stop in front of the hotel. At the bus stop one west of Karasuma, I could sit comfortably and go to Kiyomizu. I was very satisfied to find such a good way without staying near Kiyomizu! The only concern was the malfunction of the humidifier. I filled the water tank and set it up, but the red light kept blinking. The surface of the humidifier was scratched or dirty, so it might be time to replace it. Since I have the same air purifier at home, it's not difficult to use. Also, I thought it would be nice if the coffee in the room was a drip pack. I found it convenient as it is close to the station, even with luggage like a carry case from a long-distance trip. It was very comfortable, and I thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing in Kyoto.

    This is a recommended Hotel.

    Stayed for 2 nights. Conveniently located between Shijo-Karasuma and Omiya, with options to various directions if you walk a bit to Hankyu, Randen, subway, and bus routes. The Hotel was also clean, and overall, it was a highly satisfying Hotel. It was a good Hotel that I could confidently recommend to acquaintances. One point to note, regarding amenities, the toothbrush and toothpaste were placed separately, and you had to pick up each. I realized at night that the toothbrush did not have toothpaste.

    It was quiet and I slept well!

    This time, I stayed with No Meals Included. What I particularly liked was the quietness of the Room! I couldn't hear any noise, footsteps, or sounds from above, below, or the sides, to the point where I was a bit worried if it was okay to watch TV. Thanks to that, I was able to sleep soundly until morning and stay active all day the next day! The check-in/out process was simple and easy to understand, leaving a good impression. Access is also excellent, just two subway stops from JR Kyoto Station, and within walking distance to Shijo Kawaramachi. I would definitely like to use it again. Thank you very much!

    Convenient and affordable

    Conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Shijo Karasuma. The rooms were spacious enough. However, the downside is that there is only one elevator. Even when trying to go to the front desk, the elevator coming down from above was full, and I had to let it go several times. The café on the first floor is also closed, so it would be nice if another café could take its place.

    I believe the functionality as a Business Hotel is maintained, but there were no particular distinguishing points compared to other Hotels. Also, due to the small Room size, it was difficult to adjust the air conditioning; it became too cold with the cooling on, and too stuffy with just the fan.

    The service content was commensurate with the price.

    If you walk west on Shijo Street from the JR or Hankyu station at Shijo Karasuma for about 3 minutes, you will find the Hotel. It is a convenient location for sightseeing. There are also convenience stores and restaurants nearby, which was nice. The single Room was appropriately spacious. There was nothing particularly inconvenient. Considering the price, minor issues didn't bother me. This is like an appendix. In the Hotel's online photos, I thought I saw about three types of drink services (the type where you boil water yourself in the Room), such as green tea, but in reality, there was only a coffee set in the Room. Well, I guess that's how it is. There is no particular problem, though.

    First stay.

    Exit 1 of Kyoto Shijo Station is an elevator. You can reach the destination in a few minutes from this exit. Since there are many stairs at the exits, we have noted this for your reference. For those with luggage, the elevator is recommended. There are many convenience stores and restaurants around the hotel, and for breakfast, we used And Coffee Maison Kaiser near the hotel. This is my first stay at an Ibis Hotel in four years since Shinjuku. Necessary amenities are available at the front desk. The room also has an air purifier and humidifier. The room was comfortable. Despite the rising hotel prices, I was able to stay at a reasonable price. Thank you to all the staff for your support when I couldn't find the location. To Umeda in Osaka, I went from Karasuma on the Hankyu Line, and to Arashiyama, I transferred at Katsura. The location is good, and the bus stop is also nearby. Thank you to the manager as well. I will visit again.

    Easy to find and clean Hotel

    I used it for the first time. It was easy to find as it faces Shijo Street. The front desk was polite and smooth. It seems to support multiple foreign languages. The Room was clean and had no issues with the Facility for a business trip stay. Amenities are available at the front desk. I would like to use it again.

    The front staff was a foreigner. I think it is a Hotel for foreigners. The toothbrush was eco-friendly bamboo, and for a Multiple Night Stay, guests were asked to request it at the front desk. Although it is a new Hotel, it was disappointing that there was mold on the shower curtain. The access from Shijo Station was good, and it was a comfortable Hotel.

    Zero functionality except for the location.

    Apart from the location within walking distance from Shijo Station, it was the worst stay experience ever. I used it for business, but with 90% inbound guests, it can't be helped. However, if you claim to be a business hotel, I want an environment where I can work. Amenities must be picked up at the front desk, the TV doesn't work (the plug was out), and I was shocked to find the bathroom curtain covered in mold. During the day, I was having a web meeting in the room, and it was noisy outside, so I thought the inbound guests were loud, but it turned out to be the room cleaning staff. I understand the company's desire to hire foreign staff cheaply, but they should be thoroughly educated not to make noise in the hallway. Also, the Japanese staff are careless. No handover. They said they would prepare the receipt for the Kyoto Accommodation Tax by checkout, but they asked if I needed a receipt, and it took time to print. I would recommend it for backpackers looking for a place to sleep and shower, but for business, the table is narrow, the walls are thin, and it's not suitable. The room is not clean, and the cups smell as if they haven't been washed. They charge a decent price, so I definitely won't recommend it to others.
