    A happy, long-standing tradition: a stay every six months!

    For the past several years, it has become my tradition to stay here alone for one night after finishing work in Kyoto every six months. After check-in, I head straight to the Premium Lounge to relax with a drink and enjoy some well-deserved “me time.” This time, the snacks to go with the drinks felt a little upgraded too... The breakfast buffet is another highlight. The many Kyoto-style obanzai dishes, neatly served in small plates, soothe me the next morning... It also feels like there were even more options than last time—what a treat! I take my time and enjoy a kind of luxury I can’t usually have in everyday life as a homemaker. Now, back to work—so I can look forward to this happiness again in six months!

    The lounge drinks are excellent.

    This was my second stay. I was upgraded to a better Room, and it made for a very satisfying stay. The lounge, which all guests can use, was especially great. In particular, we could enjoy draft beer—today it was Ginga Kogen Beer. We also had Hojun Nama; my husband enjoyed sake and wine, and we both had highballs. Tomorrow we’d like to sleep in without breakfast. At the amenity bar, we ended up waiting behind a non-Japanese group, and the face wash and basic skincare items were out of stock. I asked the staff to refill them right away and it was resolved quickly, but I think these items would be better placed in the Room. When I took my first bath, there was no body towel, so I used a thick face towel instead but couldn’t wash properly. Since I wanted one before going to bed, I asked the staff at night and they provided it. I would prefer that children not be allowed in the lounge after 6:00 p.m., as some Chinese children were walking around near our seats out of boredom and it ruined the atmosphere—especially when we were enjoying good alcohol. Overall, though, this is an excellent Hotel. I will definitely stay again.

    This is the first Hotel I’ve stayed at that didn’t provide tissues.

    This was the first time I stayed at a Hotel with no tissues in the Room. It made me realize how inconvenient it is when tissues are not provided. I did not use the lounge for afternoon tea, cocktail hour, or breakfast, so I cannot comment on it. Other than that, there was nothing in particular to note.

    Thank you for the upgrade.

    I have stayed here several times, and since my first visit, I decided this is the place to stay whenever I come to Kyoto! The atmosphere of the Hotel, the guest rooms, the taste of breakfast, and services like the social hour are all impeccable. You can fully enjoy your hotel life and feel truly happy. I always use this Hotel when visiting Kyoto for events, but someday I’d love to plan a trip just to stay at Richmond Hotel Kyoto Shijo. One slightly disappointing thing was that there were no lotion or body towels at the amenity bar. They used to be available before, so I didn’t bring any with me this time. If they’ve been removed for some reason, I’d like to know why. Thank you as always for your wonderful service!

    Irresponsible and the worst Hotel

    Stayed for a multiple night stay during the Gion Festival's first parade. The first day went smoothly without any issues, but on the second night, the additional amenities I had requested were not provided. After contacting room service, they admitted they had forgotten and brought them over. While this was a minor inconvenience, things worsened on the third night. On the day of the Yamaboko Junko parade, it was unfortunately pouring rain. Despite this, I braved the rain to watch the parade and returned to the hotel in hopes of taking a shower in my room by early afternoon. However, upon returning after 2:20 PM (well past check-in time at 2:00 PM), I found that my room had not been cleaned yet. I had already inputted a cleaning request via in-room TV and expected priority cleaning as a multiple-night guest. Soaking wet from head to toe, I complained at reception about my uncleaned room and received only an "I'll check" response with no immediate action taken by housekeeping staff. After calling reception again later on for follow-up assistance—finally around 3:00 PM—a single housekeeper arrived leisurely starting their work late into mid-afternoon hours! Frustrated waiting indefinitely while unsure when they'd finish prompted me once more toward escalating matters further directly involving management-level personnel instead. Eventually speaking face-to-face alongside both responsible supervisors overseeing outsourced contractors handling floor maintenance duties revealed excuses galore ranging anywhere between high workload volume claims made awkwardly broken Japanese explanations offered vaguely unclear reasoning behind delays altogether unsatisfactory overall experience encountered throughout entire ordeal itself! Cleaning concluded just shy before clock struck four o'clock leaving sour taste lingering long afterward despite subsequent apologies extended half-heartedly lacking sincerity whatsoever displayed either managerial representatives themselves nor respective subordinates under employ therein alike. Reflecting back three years ago during another visit coinciding similarly timed festivities held annually within same cityscape surroundings previously encountered mishap involving luggage mishandling whereby pre-shipped suitcase mistakenly returned prematurely prior arrival date causing unnecessary stress scrambling retrieve belongings urgently required trip duration ahead thereafter resolved     Excellent!

    I have become a regular guest, staying here for one night after finishing work in Kyoto every six months. In the evening, I enjoyed a relaxing drink at the Premium Lounge, and in the morning, I indulged in a leisurely and elegant breakfast buffet. A carefree escape to refresh the soul... With exceptional service delivered with warm smiles and a wide variety of delicious breakfast options, I hope this experience continues as it is—or even better—and look forward to my next stay in six months!

    A relaxing Hotel in the heart of Kyoto

    Thank you for storing my luggage before check-in and after check-out. I enjoyed the desserts during tea time and the snacks and drinks at night; everything was very delicious. The bathroom in the Hotel Room had a Japanese-style bathtub and a washbowl, which was great. The breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes with many small bowls, and I could get my food without waiting too long. I will definitely stay here again!

    Stayed here for the first time.

    The Room offered a spacious and clean environment. Although there was no large public bath, the bathtub was wide and comfortable. I could feel the quality of Kyoto's water. The welcome drink was available from 1 PM, but as I arrived after completing my errands at around 7 PM, I only had time for tea, and there were no alcoholic beverages available, which was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the automated check-in process felt unfamiliar to me as a middle-aged guest; however, the Room provided a relaxing and secure space to unwind.

    An impressive Hotel.

    Honestly, I was expecting something like a slightly better Business Hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised in the best way. This has become my favorite Hotel in Kyoto.

    I have stayed in Kyoto several times, but this was my first time at this hotel. I chose it because of the appealing features such as free accommodation for elementary school children sharing existing bedding, welcome drinks, and complimentary access to the premium lounge. There is a supermarket on the first floor, and while the hotel entrance was a bit hard to find, once inside, I was amazed by the spacious entrance and lounge that offered a quiet space away from the hustle and bustle outside. We also received information about in-house events and enjoyed them as a three-generation family. The next day it snowed, and we had breakfast with plenty of variety while enjoying the view. The adults appreciated both the taste and presentation of the meal; however, it was slightly disappointing that there were no menu options specifically for children. It would be wonderful if child-friendly menu items could be added in the future. The staff were incredibly kind to us throughout our stay, making this trip truly memorable.

    The first breakfast was delicious.

    The lounge service offers snacks and drinks, with alcohol and appetizers available from 5 PM, making it an enjoyable experience with free trials. I have stayed several times, but this was the first time I had breakfast during my stay. It was the most delicious among all the Hotels I've stayed at. The rice was exceptionally tasty, and the omelet with selectable ingredients and other food items were also very delicious. I regret not having tried breakfast earlier. The staff always provide pleasant service, offering great value for money. I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    I love this Hotel.

    This is the third time we have used this Hotel, and our family always gives it high marks, preferring it for our stays. The lounge service is so relaxing that you might not even want to go sightseeing in Kyoto. There are also free experience services within the Hotel that make for a memorable Kyoto experience. Additionally, being able to use the lounge services at both this location and Richmond in front of the station was convenient. The amenities were satisfying, with a good selection available, and there are many lunch options nearby for under 1000 yen. There's also a Life supermarket next to the Hotel entrance, which was very convenient. We celebrated my daughter's birthday as a family using the lounge service, which was wonderful. We look forward to our next stay. Thank you very much.

    It is a relaxing Hotel.

    This is my third stay. The staff at the front desk are always courteous, making my stay pleasant. The daily experience events are also something I look forward to. I'm delighted with the afternoon sweets and the beer and wine available in the lounge during social hour. The ability to use both the Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae and this property is groundbreaking and very convenient. The separate type of room wear makes it comfortable to relax, and even for two people, there are three cups and plates each, and even sheet masks, which is very pleasing. The self-service amenities like toothbrushes at the elevator hall are efficient and waste-free. However, since the surrounding parking lots are in a high-priced area, a discount for affiliated parking would be greatly appreciated. It's a hotel I would like to visit again for relaxation.

    It was excellent!

    Although I arrived at night, the front desk staff kindly checked me in, allowing for a smooth entry into the Room. Both the lobby and the Room were very open, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast had a wide variety, and I enjoyed it without getting bored during my two-night stay! Since it was the winter solstice, there were dishes made with pumpkin, and it was great to enjoy seasonal cuisine. The lounge service was also excellent, with a wide selection of drinks such as coffee and alcohol, and various options like cheese, prosciutto, and muffins available at different times. Thank you very much. I would definitely like to use it again!

    Next in Richmond

    The facilities were up-to-date, with a luxurious and simple interior, and services like the social hour were highly satisfying, making it the best value for money! Choosing the layout plan with a 20:00 checkout was a great decision. On the second day, we went to a famous bakery nearby for breakfast early in the morning, did some sightseeing in the afternoon, returned to the hotel in the evening, enjoyed plenty of alcohol and snacks in the lounge, and then relaxed in the room before heading home. With LIFE downstairs and a convenient location, we were very satisfied, so we will use it again for our next trip to Kyoto!

    Thank you for the warm hospitality.

    My mother and I stayed for one night from Suwa. Despite being located on the main street called Shijo Street, the atmosphere inside the Hotel was very relaxing and comfortable. The staff seemed to be mostly young, but I was very impressed with their pleasant and courteous service. The Room was also very clean, easy to use, and comfortable to relax in. I will definitely use it again the next time I visit Kyoto.

    The provision of alcohol and snacks is excellent!

    From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, alcoholic beverages such as sake, beer, and wine, as well as soft drinks like coffee, tea, and juice, are offered free of charge to guests in the lounge on the front floor. After dining nearby, I took advantage of this service. I enjoyed local sake, wine, craft beer, and snacks, and it was excellent. I would love to stay again.

    Conveniently located.

    It was convenient to go anywhere, and the free lounge access was nice. There is also a supermarket on the first floor, which was convenient. The hotel's lobby floor is spacious, open, and relaxing. The room was also user-friendly, spacious, and comfortable. It was perfect for a Multiple Night Stay. One disappointing point might be that luggage delivery between the hotel and Kyoto Station is not available. I hope this can be considered in the future.

    The lounge service was excellent. I was really surprised that it was free. The breakfast was also very delicious and I was very satisfied. My child kept asking for more miso soup. If I had to mention one thing, it was unfortunate that I couldn't receive an explanation about the projector or something because the staff seemed flustered when they called out the wrong name at check-in. Even excluding that, it was a very satisfying Hotel, so I would definitely like to use it again when I visit Kyoto for sightseeing.

    I usually decide on a hotel based on whether the room has a bath with a washing area, but this hotel offered a plan that included six 300ml bottles of Sasaki Shuzo sake at the same price as a one-night stay with breakfast, which attracted me to stay for the first time. I was unsure about a multiple night stay, but after confirming by phone in advance that six bottles would be included each day, I stayed for two nights as a sake lover. However, when I returned to the room on the second day, the bottles were not replenished, and when I informed the staff that they were not in the bottle cooler, I felt the response was somewhat disappointing, as if I was being doubted. (They delivered six bottles later.) Nevertheless, it is a grateful plan as it includes expensive sake. I couldn't use the afternoon lounge service due to timing, but I did enjoy sake during the evening drink time. The lounge was spacious and relaxing. I understood why it has high ratings. I just felt that the presentation of the prosciutto could be a bit nicer. The service from the woman who seemed to be the most senior staff member during breakfast was very good. It was a pleasant start to the day. If I have another opportunity, I would like to use it again for the sake.

    This was my first visit. I will definitely repeat when I visit again! The Hotel was just as the Review said, efficient yet comfortable and cozy. The Room was spacious and functional. I appreciated the absence of closet doors, which I always find unnecessary (they trap moisture and the space to open them is wasted), making it comfortable. The wash area and refrigerator were all in one place, allowing for a separate toilet and a spacious bath with a washing area, which impressed me. I think it's good that you can bring the necessary amenities into the Room. However, after checking in, I noticed that most of them were gone, and I wondered if someone had taken a large amount. That was the only disappointing part... There were also services like coffee, soft drinks, snacks, alcohol, and appetizers at night, making me wonder if this price was really okay. Choosing the breakfast option was a great decision, as it was the best among the Hotels I've stayed at in Kyoto. The female staff at the reception was pleasant, spoke to me several times, and I enjoyed a relaxing and delicious meal. I'm looking forward to staying here again next time, and I'll work hard for six months!

    A property I would like to stay at again

    This was my first time using this service. Check-in was smooth, the Room was clean, and the toilet and bath were excellent. The lounge was well-equipped and fantastic. I opted for breakfast included, and it was by far the most delicious compared to similar Hotels I've stayed at before. I definitely want to stay here again. The staff provided excellent service, and I've decided to stay here again when I visit Kyoto.
