    I had trouble sleeping.

    I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but I was pleasantly surprised by how proactively the staff spoke to me. Everyone was very courteous, and I really appreciated it—thank you. Both the Room and the Onsen were clean, which was great, but there were a few negatives for me. 1. Loungewear The yukata-and-obi style was very uncomfortable to sleep in. These days many places use recovery wear; it may have been fine in the past, but for me it felt stiff and the obi got in the way, making it very hard to sleep. 2. Bed It was too soft for me. 3. TV It’s too large. I just want to watch things like the weather forecast or news briefly, but the screen is so big that it feels tiring.

    The room was small and unsanitary.

    This was my first time staying at this Accommodation. Due to a major rainstorm, our newly built apartment building lost water service, so we needed an urgent Multiple Night Stay. With it being summer vacation and no availability nearby, we chose this place. The room was small and not clean. We stayed as two people, but there was nowhere to be except on the bed, so it wasn’t comfortable. If you don’t have strong preferences about the room and just want No Meals Included at a low price, it may be a good option. It was a learning experience.

    Smelly

    The shower curtain in the bathroom had an unpleasant odor. The air conditioner airflow also smelled unpleasant. Other than that, we were completely satisfied.

    A Different Kind of APA Hotel

    APA Hotel & Resort is truly impressive. I was very satisfied with the baths, including an open-air bath and a bath you can enjoy while lying down. They even have a pool and a gym, which really caught my interest. I’d like to stay here again the next time I visit Niigata.

    It felt reasonable and good.

    I stayed one night because I was attracted by the large public bath, which is rare for a Hotel near Niigata Station. I was very satisfied with both the price and what was offered. In particular, you assign staff where it’s needed to improve productivity, and use systems such as machines for unnecessary tasks. As a business owner myself, I found it very educational. If there were an option to choose a slightly larger Room, I would use it even more often. I hope you will keep up the good work. Thank you for your hospitality during my stay.

    A well-known chain, for better or worse.

    I stayed at APA Hotel for the first time last year. I happened to stay again this time, and it’s a Hotel you can use comfortably—nothing fancy, but reliable. I’m traveling next month and initially made a Reservation at another Hotel, but I switched my Reservation to APA Hotel because they recommended their dedicated app and it offers convenient access around my destination. It’s true that the space between the bed and the desk is narrow, but if you plan to mainly use the bed from the start, it’s comfortable enough. I’d like to stay here again in the future.

    Basic skincare essentials are required, but the rice is delicious.

    I was looking forward to trying the skincare items (like lotion) usually provided in the Hotel, but they weren’t available here, which was disappointing. They are available in the large public bath, but the cleansing product is only in the changing room, which is inconvenient. The hair dryers felt underpowered and took a long time to dry hair; during busy times there was a line. The bath itself is spacious so it doesn’t feel crowded, but the water temperature is lukewarm, and it feels cold in the open-air bath. Breakfast was great—Niigata as expected. The freshly cooked rice was delicious! The side dishes were average. It was a shame that the fish and rice accompaniments weren’t very good. The cleaning is thorough and the staff are professional. At first I wondered why the elevator wasn’t coming, but it seems to pass by when it’s full—so overall it may actually be faster that way.

    No wasted time—no waiting or complicated procedures!

    I have stayed at APA Hotel several times, but this time I was truly impressed by the efficient service that “eliminates waste”! I expected it to be crowded due to the Sake Festival, but there was almost no waiting time for luggage storage, check-in, or check-out. Thanks to the smooth system and service, I was able to make the most of my valuable time on an enjoyable trip—thank you!

    Beautiful and amazing!

    I stayed here for an urgent trip. I compared it with the non-resort option, but since the price was the same, I chose the resort. Everything felt new and well equipped with amenities, and I was very satisfied with the large public bath. One downside—though it can’t be helped since it’s right by the station—parking in the multi-story garage costs 1,500 yen! Still, I was able to stay at a very reasonable rate overall, so I’m very satisfied. Thank you very much. I’d like to stay again.

    The room is too small.

    I booked the room based on the photos displayed during the reservation, but the actual room was very small and barely allowed any movement. It was very disappointing. For towel exchange, used towels are supposed to be hung on the door, but even after returning from outside, they were left as is. While I have no issue with no cleaning service during a multiple night stay, I would appreciate it if towels and trash could be collected.

    If I had to say.

    The public bath had it, but it would have been nice to have single-use moisturizing cream in the Room as well. Still, I was very satisfied.

    Stayed for 2 nights ...

    Stayed for 2 nights with my daughter. The location was convenient for sightseeing. There were rental bicycles in front of the Hotel, making it enjoyable to cycle to Hakusan Shrine and Bakauke Observatory. The bath was spacious, and visiting during less crowded times allowed for a relaxing experience. However, the provided toilet paper included one new roll and one half-used roll, with no spare found in the Room. On the second night, I thought we might run out, so I went to the front desk to get more. While they kindly gave me some in a bag, it felt awkward as it was handed over without any words.

    Affordable and helpful

    A bit of a walk from the station, but conveniently located with various restaurants nearby. The large public bath, including an outdoor bath, was perfect for relaxing and relieving fatigue. I personally appreciated that the shampoo and other amenities were from Saraya, which gave me peace of mind (I usually bring my own but forgot this time and found them to be quite good). The rooms are small, and the amenities are basic, but considering the price point, it’s understandable. Female guests should definitely bring a full skincare set when staying here. One downside was that both air purifiers and humidifiers were out of stock for rental by 4 PM. It would be great if more units could be made available. Overall, I felt it offered good value for money!

    First Stay

    There was a concert in Niigata over the weekend, and all hotel reservations were fully booked. After searching on my smartphone several times, I found one available room and was able to make a reservation at APA Hotel. It was my first stay, but the latest security management made me feel safe. The room was clean and well-maintained, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. I went to the bath in the morning, and there were quite a few people waiting at the door before it opened at 6 AM. It would have been even better if it opened around 5 AM. I would like to complete another reservation for my next trip as well!

    Aroma

    The aroma at the entrance was not to my liking and made me feel unwell, which was disappointing. Next time, when staying with APA, I plan to bring my own aroma diffuser (non-flammable) for a sensory clear!

    I stayed here to attend a live performance by a famous artist. Although there was a bit of a line during check-in, the staff's guidance was excellent, so it wasn't an issue. Having a convenience store on the premises and a nearby shop with affordable and delicious rice balls was very convenient. The bus stop being close by also made getting around the city easy. I had been worried due to many reviews on a certain popular site mentioning dust in the room, but I found no issues at all. My whole family has allergies, yet none of us experienced coughing or sneezing even once. It’s a safe and comfortable place to stay!

    Comfortable Hotel for Live Event Viewing

    I stayed at APA Hotel to attend a live event at Toki Messe. It was just a short walk from Niigata Station, and since it was a hot day, I planned to rest in the lobby until check-in time. However, I was able to check in around 2:30 PM. The staff were very kind, allowing me to conserve energy in my Room before the event. Toki Messe was also within walking distance, making it easy to enjoy the live performance.

    The breakfast and the large public bath were excellent.

    The large public bath was very appreciated. It was clean and spacious, making it a pleasant experience. The breakfast rice was Uonuma Koshihikari, and it was incredibly delicious. Niigata's food is excellent, which made me feel fortunate. I would love to stay here again when I visit Niigata.

    Excellent Resort Hotel in Front of the Station

    The room size was comparable to a Business Hotel, but cleanliness and convenience were highly satisfying. The large public bath with a reclining tub was excellent (used it 3 times). The breakfast buffet had a delicious variety (though it was disappointing that the sauce katsu wasn’t available). The facilities within the hotel were perfectly adequate. I will definitely be a repeat guest. I felt refreshed—thank you!

    There were many elevators, but it took time to get on one. The Onsen temperature was just right and very relaxing.

    Encountered a late-night fire evacuation.

    On May 21st at around 2:50 AM, a loud automated fire alarm suddenly went off in all rooms. Guests evacuated via the emergency stairs to the first floor, including those from the top floor on the 19th. I evacuated from the 14th floor with only my smartphone, wallet, and keys for my car and house, but many others carried out suitcases or backpacks. Hundreds of people gathered at the front desk on the first floor or outside in front of the building. Unmarked police cars and fire trucks arrived as well. Fifteen minutes later, a staff member announced loudly that it was a false alarm caused by a machine error. Since elevators were stopped, I had to climb back up to my room on the 14th floor using the emergency stairs—an exhausting effort. I wondered how those on higher floors, elderly guests, or families with small children managed during this situation. Afterward, it was hard to fall asleep again and I struggled with drowsiness throughout that day. At checkout, one male staff member bowed in apology for what had happened. As a suggestion from an ordinary guest’s perspective—it would have been great if complimentary Apa Hotel water bottles or curry were distributed as part of their apology!

    Parking fee and early check-in fee

    Arrived at 13:30, before the 15:00 check-in time. The parking lot is located behind the Hotel with both multi-story and flat spaces available. ¥1,500 per night + ¥600 (additional fee for early arrival), payable in cash only upon departure. Early check-in before 15:00 costs ¥2,000 per Room. Considered passing time at a café but opted to pay the extra fee as I wanted to leave by 15:30. The public bath is available from 14:00 onwards. Using the public bath allowed me to prepare comfortably, so paying the additional fee was worth it in the end. The shower in the Room was excellent with cleansing and moisturizing functions, which I liked very much. The yukata had a great fit and was easy to wear. Breakfast was delicious. I utilized features like checking public bath crowd levels and elevator congestion predictions on the TV screen, which were very helpful.

    The service at the Lawson on the first floor is misleading.

    The Facility was clean and excellent. As someone familiar with the old APA Hotel, I was amazed at how much it has evolved. However, at the Lawson on the first floor, my child purchased a smartphone charger after being told by staff that it would work, but it didn’t charge. When we went to return it, not only were we unable to get a refund despite the item not working, but we were also made to purchase additional parts. This felt like a scam and very unfair.

    I had a comfortable stay in the twin room.

    For a total of 4 people, including 2 adults, 1 elementary school student, and a 3-year-old child, you can usually reserve one room if you pay for 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child in a twin room. However, at APA, the reservation is for 4 people = 2 rooms, so we reserved a twin and a double room. That said, due to the snow, the express train was canceled, and we had to stay in Niigata suddenly, so we were grateful to stay in a room that was cleaner than expected at this price. We also appreciate that you adjusted the 2 rooms to be on the same floor. We were happy to receive curry as well. Thank you for your hospitality this time.

    It was very clean and comfortable, perhaps because it is still new.

    Due to the suspension of the express train because of snow, we made a reservation on the same day for an urgent stay in Niigata. My husband stayed alone in this room, and it was spacious enough for one person, with a clean unit bath and toilet, which seemed to be no problem. The large public bath had a quick turnover, and the bath was reportedly very good. We had dinner at a restaurant that we reached by turning right after leaving the hotel, but there was also a restaurant and convenience store inside the hotel, which was very convenient. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The cleaning staff was disappointing.

    Stayed for 2 nights. The facilities were impeccable. It was really good. However, while it's fine for the cleaning staff to chat in the hallway outside the room during cleaning, they ignored me even when we made eye contact. The chatting never stopped. I was taking a bath in the morning and didn't check, but when I came out, I was scolded by the cleaning staff. They said, "Isn't it written that it's until 9 o'clock?" I apologized and hurriedly wiped my wet body and changed clothes, but they kept angrily saying something the whole time. This is unthinkable in Tokyo. Moreover, there was nothing written when I entered, and there were people inside. If entering is not allowed, I wish they would put up a notice. We don't come here every day, so we don't know. The front desk staff were all wonderful. I hope the cleaning staff, who have many interactions, can have more pleasant conversations.
