    Wonderful Hotel

    Located right in front of Sakata Station, this was a very clean Hotel. At the breakfast buffet, we enjoyed local Yamagata specialties such as “dashi,” “imoni” (taro stew), “mukisoba,” and Sakata ramen. Perhaps because of the season, there was also squid sashimi, making it a very satisfying meal. I rated the bath lower only because our Room had a unit bath and we did not use the Onsen, so I gave an average score. That said, the bathroom was very clean as well. Opinions may vary, but I personally liked that there were two types of showers. It’s a Hotel I would like to stay at again. If I had to mention one downside, smoking areas are limited to outdoors and the 3rd floor only, which may feel inconvenient for smokers.

    I stayed here about ...

    I stayed here about 12 years ago and had a great experience, so I chose this place again. The building has become even nicer, so I had high expectations. I was impressed that the beds were set on tatami mats, but the Room felt smaller than I expected. For two people, there wasn’t even enough space to pass each other. There was no table and the desk was small, so it was a bit difficult to find space to put things. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options and tasted great. The squid and tofu were especially delicious. Next to the front desk, coffee and sake are available. I was told sake is served until 8:00 p.m., but around 8:05 p.m. another guest was still drinking it. When my companion returned from the restroom and I asked if we could have some as well, I was firmly told, “It’s until 8:00 p.m.” Even though only about a minute had passed since the previous guest, there seemed to be no flexibility, which was disappointing. Also, when I called to ask about loungewear sizes, the language used felt overly casual—like speaking with a friend. One button on the loungewear was missing. And when I asked about shipping luggage by courier service, I was initially told it would be fine, but after confirming again I was told it wasn’t possible. If I hadn’t double-checked, what would have happened? I felt very disappointed that this Hotel may have become one where service feels completely lacking in sincerity. Honestly, it did not meet my expectations.

    No matter how many times you have it, morning ramen is always delicious.

    Thank you again for another wonderful stay. Since I use Sakata Station, the location right in front of the station is incredibly convenient. It’s also easy to enjoy a relaxed breakfast and then stop by Seikawaya at the station to pick up a variety of souvenirs. This time my Room didn’t have a view of Mt. Chokai, which was a bit disappointing, but I was satisfied after enjoying the view from the 3rd floor of Miraini next door. At Tsuki no Hotel, the wall between the bathroom and bedroom is glass, so for someone like me who prefers soaking in the tub rather than just taking a shower, it’s easy to check how full the bath is. It also feels pleasantly open even while bathing. Above all, breakfast at Tsuki no Hotel is something I always look forward to. I enjoyed “morning ramen” again this time—one bowl is more than enough to fully enjoy it. I also appreciate being able to compare different types of rice, and having shoyu-no-mi and salted natto available makes me very happy. The squid sashimi is delicious every time as well. In addition to a wide variety of vegetables and seaweed at the salad bar, there are also steamed vegetables, so it’s great to be able to enjoy plenty of Sakata’s tasty produce. I will definitely stay again.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    We were lucky with the weather and could see both Mt. Chokai and the sunset sinking into the horizon from our Room. We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, and the Hotel breakfast was excellent, with different menu items each day and seasoning that felt healthy (not too bland). The location is right by JR Sakata Station, with the highway bus stop directly in front. The city library is located on the lower floors of the Hotel. If you come to Sakata, this is a Hotel I would highly recommend!!

    Dinner: Excellent French cuisine

    Local vegetables made with regional ingredients—exceptionally fresh. Thick-cut roast beef, enjoyed with horseradish—very satisfying. The Hotel has an attached library; this booth also has a tourist information desk, and surprisingly, they offered a one-drink voucher for Le Pot, the dinner venue—used it right away. A pleasant surprise: free for two people. Toasted with my wife with white wine. No large public bath—disappointing.

    Absolutely wonderful.

    The Room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast offered a wide selection of ingredients, and everything was delicious. However, I was a bit concerned that I didn’t receive a Receipt at check-out (I didn’t ask for one either...). Overall, it was an almost perfect stay, and I’d love to stay again!

    The rice here is delicious.

    The Facility and overall atmosphere feel modern and stylish. At the breakfast buffet, the rice—where you can compare two locally produced varieties—was excellent for both. The miso soup was also great. One drawback was that the Room heating did not work very well. M.S

    Overall satisfied

    One-night stay from Sunday to Monday in early December. Due to the day of the week and the cold season, it was not crowded, allowing for a calm and quiet stay. However, there is a concern that the lobby might feel small during peak seasons. The bathtub's size and shape felt similar to a home bath, which is why I rated it 4 stars. Other amenities and shower facilities were satisfactory.

    New HOTEL Cleanliness

    Not suitable for long-term stays. There are some issues with cleaning, but it is clean and comfortable for short stays. The breakfast is delicious.

    It was very good, but...

    The Room was clean and very nice, but it was a bit small. Considering the low price, it was understandable but slightly disappointing. Also, although it was advertised as having a view of Mount Chokai, the angle made it somewhat difficult to see.

    This is my second stay. As it is a new hotel, the entire accommodation, including the guest rooms and facilities, was clean and exuded a sense of cleanliness. The staff's service was polite. Breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes and was flavorful enough. It remained consistent with my previous stay, providing a reliable and satisfying experience.

    Third stay

    The inari mochi I enjoyed last time was not available this time, which was very disappointing. The space between the bed and the refrigerator is narrow, making it difficult to open the fridge, and it's easy to bump your leg on the corner of the floor. Be cautious when getting up at night for the restroom to avoid hitting your shin. The staff's service was pleasant and welcoming.

    Very good Hotel

    Opened in 2020, the property offers exceptional comfort and cleanliness, leaving no room for concern. However, the only downside was the smell of the shower curtain. While it might be unavoidable, it could affect your mood slightly. Fixing this would make it perfect.

    It was a clean Hotel.

    The Hotel was clean, and the service during check-in was excellent. The next day, we planned to drive to Mount Chokai and were checking Google Maps when we noticed a road closure warning. To confirm the road information, we decided to ask at the front desk. Since it didn’t seem too busy, we inquired with a staff member who immediately responded that they do not handle such matters and that their role is limited to hotel reception services, leaving us unsure of what to do. Fortunately, there was a nearby tourist association office where we asked for help. Although they couldn’t provide exact details either, they kindly suggested some places where we could inquire further, which gave us some relief.

    The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and it’s a wonderful Hotel that exceeds expectations.

    The Tatami Twin Room is not very spacious but functional, quiet, and clean. Interaction with the reception and staff (all very efficient) was minimal, making the experience pleasantly practical. The sashimi set dinner at the Hotel's restaurant was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Paired with a sake tasting of three varieties, it was a leisurely and enjoyable meal. The breakfast buffet also offered a well-balanced selection in terms of variety, quantity, and taste. With its charming library on-site contributing to an intellectual and refined atmosphere, I found this to be a reasonably priced Hotel with great appeal. I am already looking forward to staying in a room with views of Mount Chokai next time!

    Good.

    We visited for a trip to explore Sakata City and drive to Mount Chokai. The Hotel was clean and comfortable. The sunset view from the Room window was stunning. The bathroom, with both a bathtub and washing area, was convenient to use. Breakfast was also delicious.

    Accommodation for a business trip in Yamagata

    During my business trip to Yamagata, I stayed here for the first time as other hotels were fully booked. Being a new hotel, the facilities were excellent and very comfortable. However, there was no phone in the room, and I couldn't find an alarm clock either. Elderly guests might feel confused as they cannot contact the front desk by phone. Someone who checked in with me took quite some time at the front desk. It seemed that their reservation name did not match their personal name, and they appeared unfamiliar with the process. I hope these small issues can be improved for a better experience.

    The only choice of Hotel when visiting Sakata

    The front desk service is excellent. All the staff work efficiently and pleasantly. This Hotel feels like a paradise apart from the rest. I hope this quality can be maintained for a long time. A Hotel that makes you want to visit Sakata.

    I stayed here during...

    I stayed here during a trip with my friends from school. The location is excellent, right in front of Sakata Station, and the bed was very comfortable, allowing me to sleep soundly. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, and I was able to enjoy a hearty meal. I would love to visit again!

    I stayed here again while visiting a friend in Sakata, just like last year. The Room was clean, and the staff at the front desk were very accommodating, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. If I visit Sakata again, I would love to stay here once more. Thank you very much.

    The room was clean, and the windows and mirrors were well-cleaned, which felt nice. The amenities were also plentiful and of high quality. The toilet was located at the back of the washroom, giving it a private feel. I requested a twin, but since the beds are adjacent, it might not be suitable for staying with someone other than a partner. It was hard to tell from the photos. It was unfortunate that the space between the bed and the refrigerator & cupboard was narrow, making it difficult to take things out. The chair by the bedside was convenient to use. There is also a self-service coffee on the first floor, and you can borrow books, so I thought it would be nice to relax at the hotel next time.

    The moon in the Room, the moon in the sky, and the silhouette of Mt. Chokai is beautiful.

    Sakata Station is right in front. It is a very stylish Hotel. The attached library also seems open and comfortable. Stayed the night before the full moon. At dawn, when I raised the shade of the large window, a grand panorama spread out with the moon shining in the west and the silhouette of Mt. Chokai (Chokai-san) emerging in the east. Lowering the shade, the round light by the window floats like a full moon. It truly lives up to the name "Moon Hotel." The size of the bed and amenities were sufficient. Overall, I think the service is simple and efficient. Breakfast was also very satisfying. If I were to add a wish, although it is in front of the station, the night seems to come early in the whole town, and there seem to be few restaurants or places to take out. I think it would be even more wonderful if there were a cafe-dining style restaurant where you could have a casual dinner.

    Breakfast buffet with plenty of delicious foods from Shonai

    Vegetables, simmered dishes, and desserts were all delicious. The pumpkin soup, mapo tofu, and potato stew were highly praised by the whole family. The pajamas had beautiful colors, and my daughter bought them. The Mikimoto bath salts had a milky white color and a pleasant fragrance, which seemed to relieve fatigue.

    It was a corner twin room where you could fully enjoy Mount Chokai, the sea, and the trains departing from and arriving at Sakata Station.

    Unlike last time, we were blessed with good weather and enjoyed the view from the corner twin room. As before, the Imoni was delicious, and we also enjoyed pumpkin soup, mapo tofu, boiled eggs, and cheesecake. I thought the persimmons were Okesa persimmons from Niigata, but I found out that Shonai persimmons are delicious.

    Very satisfied!

    I am very satisfied. This time, I visited other places before coming to Sakata, so I stayed at other hotels as well, but even at the same price, the variety and quality of the morning buffet dishes were outstanding, and I was extremely satisfied. I was very satisfied last time as well, and this time exceeded my expectations. I was also happy to have the opportunity to enjoy Sakata Ramen for breakfast. I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I thought it might be okay if the portions were a little smaller, but it was so delicious that I finished it all. I was also pleased to compare "Tsuyahime" and "Hitomebore" rice, and to have traditional rice accompaniments like "Shoyu no Mi" and "Shio Natto." Also, the "Yariika" from Sakata is truly the best. I savored the deliciousness of the local dish "Nasu no Gonge" once again. Even if it looks plain, I hope the delicious local cuisine of Sakata will continue to be cherished. If possible, I would be happy to taste Shonai's "Imoni." The room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was easy to sleep in, the futon was light, and I was refreshed by the view of Mount Chokai from the window, which I was looking forward to. I opened the curtains as soon as I woke up to enjoy the view. It's a pity that there is no Onsen, but they provided a pleasant bath additive, and the amenities like lotion were of good quality. I also liked that the roll curtain in the bathroom could be opened, making it more spacious and bright. If I had to say, there is a step under the bed where you can catch your foot, and I forgot and bumped my shin several times. The content at this price is truly wonderful, and I would like to use it again and again. Thank you for your hospitality!

    The book and breakfast were very good.

    The breakfast was very delicious!! You can enjoy a breakfast that gives you a sense of local Sakata and Yamagata in a very lovely setting. I was able to borrow books from the neighboring library and take them to my room. There was a novel I was hooked on reading as a child, and I ended up staying up late reading it. This service was very appreciated, and I had a great time relaxing. The hotel's recommendations for nearby izakayas, sushi, ramen, and tourist spots were very helpful, and the places I visited based on those recommendations had delicious food, were lively, and were historically enjoyable tourist spots. The room was clean and tidy. The layout was also convenient for those with children. The amenities were not much to my liking, and my hair became dry. Also, the place to put towels in the bathroom was somewhat questionable. The coffee machine in the lobby was broken, and there was no alternative, which was disappointing, but overall, I highly recommend it. The price is somewhat high, but since it's a trip, you can enjoy local specialties little by little in a relaxing space, and I think it's worth paying for.

    High-quality business hotel

    The streets of Sakata are calm and give a sense of livability. Although the area around the station is plain with no convenience stores, the relaxation at Tsuki no Hotel is comfortable, and the sofa in front of the reception, which helps relieve fatigue, shows a good sense of style. The entire hotel is clean, with guest rooms and common areas particularly well-maintained. Additionally, the staff provided kind and courteous service, making it a reassuring experience for my first visit. I wasn't aware, but Sakata's ramen is apparently famous nationwide, and I enjoyed "morning ramen" at the buffet breakfast. There were also local rice varieties "Yukiwakamaru" and "Tsuyahime" available for comparison. I stayed in a moderate double room. I would have liked a bit more space between the bed and the desk. The view from the window was wonderful, with a full view of Mount Gassan. It's a wonderful hotel. I recommend it.
