    I think it’s a Hotel with a great atmosphere.

    I felt this Hotel was in a great location, with convenient access to the center of the Bikan Historical Quarter. The Hotel staff were courteous, and the shop inside the Facility had a good selection of items. The bar also offered a wide variety of drinks. It was my first time visiting Kurashiki, and my wife and I agreed we would like to come again. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The Room was small.

    The Room was smaller than I expected. There was only a shower. Honestly, I wondered if it was worth the price. Since Okayama is only a 20-minute train ride away, I should have stayed there instead of Kurashiki. The service was good.

    It was a wonderful building.

    We stayed in a Junior Suite with three people. Since it is a Hotel in a historic building, we were worried it might feel old, but the Room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable.

    For your first time in Kurashiki

    This was my first trip to Kurashiki, and I stayed for two nights. I was very satisfied with the Room, the Facility, and the meals. Above all, the entire property and Facility have a unique atmosphere that really heightened the excitement of my trip.

    We’ll definitely be back!

    As this was my first time in Okayama, I planned my trip mainly around sightseeing in Kurashiki and made a Reservation at Ivy Square. I ended up arriving late at night because work ran over, but the staff greeted me with “Mr./Ms. XX, we’ve been expecting you,” and their warmth truly touched me. The Room Facilities were all new and spotless, and I was more satisfied than I had imagined. Since we were staying in the Bikan Historical Quarter, my husband and I went for an early-morning run, and having a coin laundry on-site was incredibly helpful. (I’d be even happier if there were a few more machines.) I also asked several times for help arranging taxis, and each time they responded quickly and very courteously. My husband and I found ourselves saying every day, “Everyone at this Hotel is so friendly and always smiling—amazing,” and it quickly became one of our favorites. Next time we visit Kurashiki, we’ll definitely stay here again! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

    Thank you for the relaxing time.

    We were able to spend a relaxing time. I believe the main reason was the pleasant hospitality of your staff. If I may make one request: during meals, I would have liked a peach dessert, even as a paid add-on. Peach desserts are available around the Bikan Historical Quarter, but I wished there had been one after our meal here. We truly enjoyed our two-day stay. Thank you very much.

    We had a great stay.

    Conveniently located near Kurashiki’s Bikan Historical Quarter, so we had no trouble finding places for dinner and could also enjoy an evening stroll. Even after returning to the Hotel, the large public bath was spacious and comfortable. We would stay again on our next visit. Thank you very much.

    The front desk staff were polite and pleasant, the property had a lovely atmosphere, the location was convenient, and everything was great.

    It was comfortable.

    Although it was pouring rain outside due to two typhoons, we stayed comfortably indoors with no sound of rain at all. The Room has a high, sloped ceiling, so it didn’t feel cramped in the slightest. Breakfast included my favorite “Mamakari,” and I was very satisfied. Everything was delicious. The bathroom was a bit small, but there is an in-room shower, so it wasn’t an issue. It’s also within walking distance of the Bikan Historical Quarter. The parking lot is spacious and costs 500 yen. Thank you for your hospitality.

    A Memorable Stay at Kurashiki Ivy Square

    The architect of this Hotel is Mr. Shintaro Urabe (the same architect as the Senri Hankyu Hotel, which closed at the end of March this year), and I first stayed at both Hotels in 1978–1979. Nearly half a century has passed since then, and with many fond memories, I came to stay again while I’m still healthy and able. The staff were very kind, and I felt the building was carefully maintained throughout.

    What kind of Hotel is this?

    Due to my own mistake, the Room I was first shown was far too small, but the female staff member who helped me change Rooms was extremely kind and wonderful, and I was able to stay in a comfortable Room. The Room was spacious enough for two people and clean, with a good layout; in particular, the bathroom was large and had a bathtub, making it a very comfortable and well-designed space. The simmered flounder at dinner had troublesome bones, which was disappointing, but both dinner and breakfast were delicious overall. I could also take walks and shop within the Hotel grounds, which made it easy to adjust my schedule.

    A pleasant atmosphere.

    This was my second stay. The building’s exterior, covered in lush green ivy, has a wonderful atmosphere. The lobby, restaurant, and bar retain a classic feel, while the Room had been renovated and was very clean and comfortable. Because the Room is small and the bathtub is also small, it may feel cramped for larger guests such as many Westerners. Although quite a few people were staying, it was quiet with no issues from noise in the neighboring Rooms or hallway. I chose the plan with breakfast included. There were local dishes such as vinegared mamakari (sardines) and seared Spanish mackerel tataki; the steamed white rice and miso soup broth were delicious as well. I also appreciated that they properly replenished the food even for guests who came near the end of breakfast service. The front desk staff were courteous too. I’ll be back again.     It was a convenient Room.

    The Room was very easy to use, clean, and fully satisfying. The bath and toilet are separate, and the in-room bath is also comfortable. My wife also said the shampoo and conditioner were good. There is a large public bath as well, but the water was a little too hot for me, so it wasn’t really my preference. In central Kurashiki, many places close early at night, so we were worried about having trouble finding dinner; we recommend dining at the Hotel. In the end, we had dinner at a Western-style izakaya in the shopping arcade. It was delicious. We had lunch at the Hotel as well; it was tasty, reasonably priced, and very satisfying.

    Are the walls thin?

    I stayed here for the first time in 20 years. The bath and the Room have changed, but the overall atmosphere remains the same, which felt nostalgic.\nHowever, I was bothered by being able to hear various noises from next door.

    A charming sense of history

    We stayed as a family of three. We had been interested for a while and were finally able to stay—what a wonderful experience. The atmosphere of the historic building is truly exceptional. We also loved the large public bath! Our daughter was only 8 months old, but we were still able to stay comfortably and relax as a family. Thank you for accommodating our request for a baby crib. It became a great memory for us.

    This is a very good Hotel.

    Staying in a lovely guest room inside a historic building was wonderful, with an amazing atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and provided warm, hospitable service. There is also a large public bath where you can relax at your leisure. Breakfast features plenty of local specialties with a wide variety—so much that I ended up eating too much. The location is right next to the Bikan Historical Quarter, and it offered the best value for money of any Hotel I’ve stayed at so far. It’s a Hotel I’d want to visit again and again.

    We were able to visit during a season when the ivy was especially beautiful. We chose Italian cuisine for dinner, and everything was delicious. Even after check-out, we were able to enjoy many activities. When we visit Kurashiki again, we would love to stay here again.

    Highly recommended for visiting the Bikan Historical Quarter.

    I stayed here for sightseeing in the Bikan Historical Quarter. It was a short walk from the parking lot to the Hotel, but the 500 yen per 24 hours rate was very affordable and helpful. It’s not an Onsen, but there is a large public bath (I also wanted to use the ReFa in my Room), and I ended up choosing the big bath anyway. One slightly disappointing thing was noticing small spots of mold here and there in the public bath. Once I noticed them, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and it reduced how relaxing it felt by half. I know cleaning must be difficult, but some guests may be concerned, so it might be worth checking. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and I had a relaxing stay.

    A Relaxing Spot in the Bikan Historical Quarter

    I’m originally from Okayama Prefecture and have visited Kurashiki more than 10 times, but this was my first time staying overnight. Four of us came from Tokyo, Gifu, and Osaka, and we fully enjoyed the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter over a one-night, two-day trip. Staying at Ivy Square allowed us to sightsee at a relaxed pace. The Rooms were two twin Rooms, so they felt a bit small, but there was also a large public bath, so it wasn’t an issue. That said, I wished there had been something like a playroom where families could gather. The dinner was average, while breakfast had more local dishes and was very satisfying. I’ve always thought it’s a great place, and after staying this time, I felt that if there were some extra perks or added value for guests, it could become even more popular.

    It was very comforta...

    It was very comfortable! Located in the Bikan Historical Quarter, it’s convenient, has a great atmosphere, and you can really feel the history. The Room has been renovated and was clean and very comfortable. I didn’t use the large public bath, but I chose a Room with a separate bath and toilet, so I could relax. It also had a ReFa hair dryer, which was great. It was also fun to take an evening walk around the Bikan Historical Quarter. The staff were very courteous, and I would definitely like to stay again.

    Comfortable after renovation

    Since it was my first time coming by rental car, I was a bit confused about the parking, but I was guided to a nearby spot next to the Hotel. There was also space in the Hotel’s parking area, so I could have parked there as well. I mentioned a food allergy at first and was told that it might be too late and that I should avoid those items, but they checked with the dining staff anyway and later confirmed they could accommodate it, which was reassuring. The Hotel had a shower and hair dryer from the latest ReFa line, and my wife was very happy. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine in the dining room. They used fairly high-quality ingredients, but overall it felt average. Next time, I’d like to try some local restaurants as well. In any case, both the bath facilities and the town were very close to our Room and comfortable. If you’re staying in the Bikan Historical Quarter, I think this is the best place. The staff were friendly, kind, and pleasant. We also tried a Bizen-yaki pottery experience—it was a valuable experience and really fun. I’d love to visit Kurashiki again.

    Glad to have stayed here.

    The property itself is a main tourist spot, bustling with people during the day but becoming quieter and more relaxing at night. Kurashiki is beautiful even in the evening, with plenty of attractions to explore. I would love to stay here again on my next visit. Although I had dinner outside this time, the restaurant within the hotel had a great atmosphere, so I might try dining there next time. Not knowing how many attractions this city has, I didn’t allocate much time for sightseeing on this trip. Next time, I plan to explore it more thoroughly.

    First visit to Kurashiki in 35 years!

    First visit to Kurashiki in 35 years since my youth! I finally had the chance to stay at the Kurashiki Ivy Square, a place I admired when I was younger. While I'm not sure how it was inside back then, the exterior hasn't changed and felt very nostalgic. The interior has been renovated and is now very modern and clean, with a stylish Room bath that we enjoyed. Breakfast was delicious, and we had a wonderful time as a senior couple. All the staff were kind and helpful—thank you so much!

    A Perfect Base for Exploring Kurashiki

    Stayed in a family room with a group of female travel friends. The room, public bath, and breakfast were all satisfying. The building is wonderful, and above all, the location is excellent. Being right in the heart of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter makes it very convenient for sightseeing and shopping. An unexpected highlight was the adjacent Kurabo Memorial Museum. It was not just a corporate history room. With insightful words and remarkable cultural assets, its richness exceeded what one would expect from a single company’s collection, deepening our understanding of Japan's economic history as well. If you're staying in Kurashiki, this is undoubtedly the No.1 hotel!
