Both the Room and the Hotel location are excellent.

The Room was very clean and satisfying. Located in Hoko-machi, it also has a wonderful atmosphere.

Thank you for your warm hospitality.

My high school–aged daughter stayed here while attending an open campus event. Thank you as well for your courteous support when I called about the consent form for minors. It was her first time staying alone at a Hotel and traveling by herself, and she said the staff were very warm and spoke to her kindly many times, for which we are truly grateful. She also stayed at other well-known Hotels, but had various unpleasant experiences—being treated like a child, or not being guided to the breakfast venue when she was alone. In contrast, although Shizutetsu was the most reasonably priced option, you showed her so much consideration and kindness that I’m sure it became a wonderful memory for her. She said both the Room and breakfast were the best. She also mentioned that someone at the front desk told her, “Please stay with us again when you take your entrance exams,” and of course we plan to make an early Reservation and return then. I don’t usually post a Review, but I really wanted to express my gratitude, so I’m writing this. Thank you very much.

    We had a comfortable stay.

I always stay at Presio when I’m in Shizuoka. This was my first time using it in Kyoto. I was satisfied with its Kyoto-style atmosphere and its convenient location close to the downtown area. I would like to stay again.

The only disappointing thing was that the TV volume wouldn’t go up very high.

I looked back at my notes from the time to see if there was anything I was unhappy with. The TV’s maximum volume is 30, and even at the highest setting it was hard to hear. This may be difficult for elderly guests or guests with hearing impairments. Other than that, I had no complaints. Both the bathroom and toilet were very clean, with no mold at all. It’s a big plus when basic standards are properly maintained. Also, disposable slippers seem to cost 100 yen. In an era where reducing waste is strongly demanded, I think this reflects the Hotel’s awareness. I was disappointed that a luxury private-railway-operated Hotel in Osaka didn’t even offer disposable slippers for purchase, but Shizutetsu Hotel provides a paid option—so it comes down to each guest’s preference. Around the Shijo Nishinotoin bus stop, there are many good-value supermarkets and restaurants, and you can reach almost all major sightseeing spots in Kyoto without transfers, so the location is great as well.

A Wonderful Hotel Perfect for a Casual Stay in Kyoto

Kyoto offers many different ways to enjoy your stay depending on the area you choose and the character of each Hotel. This was my first time staying at this Hotel, and it is in a very convenient location just a short distance from Shijo-Karasuma, which can be considered the center of downtown Kyoto. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the station whether you arrive by Hankyu Railway or the subway. Nearby are places like Goodman Roaster Kyoto and Unzen, as well as many wonderful cafes and coffee shops that have opened over the past few years—just visiting them is enjoyable in itself. Ogaki Shoten (Main Store), with its large and unique selection of magazines and books, is also close by, and Daimaru is within walking distance. There are also grocery supermarkets such as Fresco and Moritaya right nearby, making this a great area for spending time as if you live in Kyoto. Since the Hotel opened in 2019, both the Facilities and Room interiors still feel new and were very comfortable. The Room I stayed in wasn’t particularly large, but the layout was well designed so it didn’t feel cramped. It had a comfortable bed and a fairly large sofa, and the bathroom had a spacious bathtub, which made my stay very relaxing. I stayed on the 4th floor this time, and the view from the window wasn’t great due to nearby apartment buildings; however, that’s common for Hotels in central Kyoto and can’t really be helped. With that in mind, I felt it might even be fine to choose a Room on a lower floor. Breakfast didn’t have an especially wide variety of items, but everything gave me the impression of being properly prepared. I especially liked the large-bean natto. The staff at both reception and breakfast were very polite yet friendly. Overall, I found this to be a very satisfying Hotel. I was impressed that they maintain this level of service at this price point. In Kyoto I usually make hotels around City Hall or west of the Imperial Palace my regular choices, but I would like to add this Hotel to that list as well. Thank you again—I look forward to staying here again.

    It was great.

I stayed in a twin Room with No Meals Included and a separate bath and toilet. The staff handled check-in quickly, and everything was pleasant and smooth. The bath in the Room was larger and cleaner than I expected, so I could relax and was very satisfied. I did wonder if there would be coffee in the Room, but there wasn’t, which was a little disappointing—I would have appreciated it since I planned to take it easy in the morning. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay, and I’d like to stay again.

A comfortable Hotel with convenient access

It was very convenient, close to Shijo-Karasuma and with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Daimaru is also within walking distance. The Facility had a lovely atmosphere that blended in well with the Kyoto streetscape. The Room was compact, but new, clean, and well maintained, and the bathroom with a separate washing area was comfortable. There was a free coffee machine in the lobby, and I appreciated being able to take it back to my Room to enjoy.

    Self check-in and check-out system

I don’t mind the policy of handling front desk operations by machine, but there was a strange situation where three or four front desk staff were constantly chatting together. Even at check-out, there was no greeting at all such as “Thank you,” and I kept wondering whether the head office is aware of the service attitude of the several front desk staff who were present. As for the Facility and price, if you use IKYU Points, the balance is good, so I might carelessly stay again. There are no car-related perks whatsoever; in such cases other hotels always provide guidance to nearby parking lots, but here they have a policy of providing no guidance at all—and they even went out of their way to email me—so I couldn’t help wondering why staff were there in the first place. [To Shizutetsu’s representative/directors and other executives] Even for a Business Hotel, if I have another opportunity to stay with you, I would appreciate front desk staff who can offer at least a basic welcoming greeting.

    I’ve stayed here abo...

I’ve stayed here about 10 times so far for business trips. Overall, I’m satisfied with the Room size, cleanliness, and amenities, and I keep coming back because the breakfast—though not very varied—is delicious and different from the typical frozen foods often served at Hotels. However, this time I was surprised that several channels, including Fuji TV, could not be viewed at all during my stay on the in-room TV, possibly due to an antenna issue. I’m not sure whether it was only my Room or the entire building... Since many guests are foreigners it may not be a problem, but I hope it will be fixed soon. By the way, I used to look forward to motsunabe at breakfast every time, but the new sundubu hot pot was also delicious!

    Thank you for your support.

I previously stayed at a Hotel in the same group in Osaka and had a great experience, so I chose this Hotel in Kyoto as well. The Room was more than comfortable and spacious enough for one person, and I really appreciated that the toilet and bath were separate. Since it was on the first floor, there was no view from the window and it felt a bit closed-in, but getting in and out of the Hotel was smooth and convenient. It’s a short walk from Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line, so pulling a suitcase along Kyoto’s narrow, busy streets may be difficult for some. There is a 7-Eleven right in front of the Hotel, and there are many restaurants nearby as well, which I found very convenient. It was fun that there was a drink service next to the front desk, even with a popcorn machine. They also had all the basic amenities and bath salts available, which I appreciated. Overall, I was satisfied—the location, cleanliness of the Hotel, and staff service were all high quality despite being reasonably priced.

    It was comfortable.

I stayed during Golden Week. I was confused by the self check-in machine. (My full name is long, so it’s inconvenient to have to enter everything.) It would be helpful if searching by phone number only were possible. Even though I had prepaid, I was charged an additional fee without knowing what it was for... When I hesitated, a staff member at the front desk explained that it was the Accommodation Tax. Since staff may not always be available at the front desk, I felt it would be better if a detailed breakdown appeared on the screen. I was happy there was a coffee machine at the front desk, and my child loved that popcorn was all-you-can-eat and could be enjoyed in the Room while watching movies. The Room was also comfortable because it had a separate bath and toilet. I was also glad to have Kyoto-style items for breakfast. It’s a bit far from the subway station, which is unfortunate, but it was a very good Hotel. Thank you.

We had a comfortable stay in Kyoto during the holiday period.

This was my first stay, and I stayed for 4 nights. It’s relatively close to Shijo-Karasuma Station and also conveniently located for getting around the city by taxi. The Room is compact but clean and functional, with plenty of outlets, which was very convenient. The front desk staff were also pleasant and helpful. For a Multiple Night Stay, I honestly would have liked a bit more variety at breakfast, but there were no major issues. I would stay here again if I have the opportunity.

    We’ll be back!

Hoping that inbound tourism had calmed down a bit, I visited Kyoto for the first time in a while after staying away for some time. In the past, I usually stayed at well-known national brand Hotels in Japan and abroad, but this time I was traveling solo and wanted to keep costs down, so I walked as much as possible and booked this Hotel through IKYU. It turned out to be the perfect choice. I arrived at night, and walking to the Accommodation instead of taking a taxi as usual felt refreshing as I strolled through Kyoto’s traditional machiya streetscape while finding my way. To be honest, since it’s a Business Hotel I didn’t have high expectations, but the Room was spacious enough with a functional layout. The bathtub was large, and even the shower head had a mist-switch function—my expectations were pleasantly exceeded! Breakfast doesn’t offer an omelet service, but there is still a good selection of both Japanese and Western items. The salad vegetables were very fresh! There were options for rice (white rice, multigrain rice, and porridge), and soups included potage, miso soup, and motsu hot pot—so many pleasant surprises that it was hard to choose. Since I have allergies, I asked about the ingredients in the multigrain rice; the staff checked carefully for me. That said, it would be helpful if allergen information for ingredients/components were displayed. All of the staff were kind, and I would like to visit again. Thank you for taking care of me during my stay.

On my first stay, I ...

On my first stay, I stayed in a Room with a washing area. Unfortunately, the washbasin was too small. Water splashed everywhere, and the area around it got soaked every time I used it. I would like this improved. Also, my Room was on the second floor above the breakfast venue, and from early morning the noise of chairs being pulled was so loud that it woke me up. I felt improvements were needed, such as adding covers to the chair legs or changing the flooring material. Other than that, I had no particular complaints and had a comfortable stay.

    Shizutetsu Hotel is the best!

I stayed with my elderly mother (in a wheelchair), and I am deeply grateful for the warm hospitality of all the staff. At the breakfast venue, they thoughtfully brought a spoon, fork, and paper napkin to make it easier for my mother to eat. Additionally, they kindly said, "Please stay healthy forever," showcasing their exceptional service. Truly bravo!

    Clean and well-equipped.

The bathroom was convenient with a separate washing area and toilet. The ceramic sink had a nice touch, but water splashed easily, so I used the bathroom for morning face washing. Considering the price, it was very satisfactory. The trash bin wasn't separated for recycling, so I wasn't sure if everything could be thrown away together. The breakfast buffet was a bit modest, but it helped me avoid overeating, which might have been a good thing. I would like to stay at this Hotel again.

    Simply Comfortable

It is rare to find a Business Hotel with separate bath and toilet, so I was already satisfied with just that. However, the hotel is new, clean, and has spacious beds, which made my stay even more satisfying. I made the reservation at the last minute, but the Accommodation Fee was pleasantly reasonable for Kyoto during this season. The customer service left a good impression during check-in; however, I was slightly surprised that no one was at the counter during morning check-out. That said, there were no issues as an automatic payment machine was available.

Delicious meals and a clean Business Hotel.

The breakfast was delicious! I especially enjoyed the miso soup, salmon fillet, and tofu. The room was clean, and although I don't often stay at business hotels, I felt comfortable. Since there were no combs or brushes provided, I rated the amenities -1. As for the facility, I gave it -1 because there was no view of the outside scenery. I would consider staying again if given the opportunity.

    Normal

The price was reasonable for the high season, but the closed-off Room on the first floor without windows was not ideal. Since I am familiar with the area, the location was fine for me, but for those unfamiliar, it might feel a bit far from downtown. However, with a convenience store right in front and parking and the station not too far away, it wasn’t inconvenient. Despite being near the entrance, noise wasn’t an issue. Still, considering its condition, it could be priced lower. I chose this Room because of its separate bath and toilet setup; however, there are other options available as well. The amenities were not very extensive... But having coffee and tea available anytime was a nice touch!

    No Meals Included. T...

No Meals Included. The room was new and clean. The bed size was double, and there was a massage chair, but the massage balls were hard and painful, so I stopped using it halfway through. There were no amenities in the room; you need to pick up items like toothbrushes and bath additives from the area next to the elevator entrance and bring them to your room. Sounds of people passing by or talking outside the room could be clearly heard. Overall, with hotel prices increasing and it being a Saturday, it felt overpriced for what was offered. There were many foreign tourists staying at the hotel.

I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, but the daily cleaning was inadequate. For example, there should be a manual for organizing things like the hairdryer, but the cords were all tangled, and I wanted to fix them. It was very disappointing for a Hotel in Kyoto, where hospitality is expected.

We appreciate the staff's consistently courteous service.

During my previous stay, the room was clean and attention to detail was impeccable, and the staff's hospitality was courteous, making my stay pleasant. This time, it was my second stay alone, and since a room was available on the day, I was upgraded from the Standard Single Room (separate bath and toilet) I had reserved to a Superior Twin Room (separate bath and toilet). I was able to enjoy a comfortable stay in the spacious room. It was a major factor in allowing me to enjoy a two-night, three-day sightseeing trip during the busy autumn foliage season without getting tired. Thank you very much. I will stay again.

    Thank you very much.

Affordable with an excellent location. However, I would like to mention one concern. At the breakfast venue, I noticed a staff member treating a foreign couple coldly, which left me feeling uneasy. The elderly female staff member told the newly arrived foreign couple not to move until guided, in a tone that felt intimidating to me as someone who understands Japanese. It left me feeling uncomfortable while having breakfast.
