  Disappointing

  I had high expectations as it was featured in a magazine, but the service felt more like a guesthouse. Upon check-in, there were bags of what seemed to be used sheets placed right next to the front desk. The room had flimsy pillows and noise from the upper floor could be heard. At night, even with the lights off, it wasn’t completely dark due to outside lighting. The light switch was inconveniently located behind the pillow, and one of the two reading lamps was broken. The coffee bean grinder in the room didn’t work either. The attitude of Japanese staff felt distant and unprofessional, with their attire lacking a sense of cleanliness or professionalism. I usually trust IKYU.com for recommending accommodations above a certain standard but was disappointed this time. The only positive aspect was its location. For this quality at that price point, it’s not worth it at all. While Kyoto tends to be overpriced, there are many better accommodations available for similar prices elsewhere.

  Highly recommended.

  The building is an old traditional house, but the interior is new and offers a comfortable space. The surrounding environment is also excellent, allowing you to fully enjoy the essence of Kyoto.
