Perfect for a girls’ trip for two.

I stayed at this Hotel in June. I arrived a little before check-in, so I asked at the front desk if they could store my luggage, and they kindly did so. The bubuzuke service was right near the end of the serving time, but there were many topping options and I left feeling full. I didn’t use the morning smoothie service or the drinks/snacks from 3 p.m., nor the alcohol service, but overall the services were good. The Hotel’s location was great and convenient for getting to the Shijo area. There were plenty of affordable and tasty izakaya and other restaurants nearby, so finding places to eat wasn’t a problem. If I had to mention something, the water in the large public bath was quite hot, and some foreign guests left hair dryers in use so others couldn’t use them when they wanted to. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was such a satisfying Hotel that even if you came alone, you could easily enjoy everything without needing to go elsewhere.

We offer a variety of services, but...

I read online that you can enjoy fubu-zuke in the lounge, but it was so crowded during the Obon holidays that I gave up. The bath was average. Breakfast had a wide variety of options, and I enjoyed champagne in the morning. On the way out, I was able to have their carefully selected coffee. If it’s less crowded, it seems like you could enjoy more of what they offer.

In front of the Hotel, enjoy the Gion-bayashi music of Minami-Kannon-yama!

This was my first stay. I expected a Hotel on Shinmachi Street, one of the main highlights of the parade route, and to my surprise Minami-Kannon-yama was right in front of the Hotel! The location was excellent, and I truly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Yoiyoiyama during the latter festival period, without any food stalls. In Kyoto’s extreme summer heat, the large public bath was much appreciated. Breakfast was also delicious. Thank you very much.

A Hotel located in the float district of the Gion Festival.

My birthday is July 17, so for decades I’ve always gone to see the Gion Festival around my birthday. I’m used to the festival, but… I used to stay at a well-known large Hotel with parking. However, it wasn’t very convenient for getting around, and this year I was traveling with my elderly sister, so I decided to try The Gate Hotel Kyoto in the float district. And wow—my old ideas about Hotels were completely overturned. The layout and flow inside the building were excellent, and even though check-in/out was pleasantly efficient, the staff were truly wonderful. The lounge and restaurant were also very comfortable. What I appreciated most was the late-night “bubuzuke” buffet. We were exhausted from walking around the festival and couldn’t really eat much… but being able to have a late-night meal at the Hotel was such a relief. The bubuzuke was easy to eat, and the broth was delicious. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but this really made me feel, “So this is what Hotels are like now!” It’s an Accommodation that makes me want to stay there even when it’s not Gion Festival season. Thank you again—I’ll be back.

    The Pre-Festival and the Hotel

I stayed here because I wanted to take my time enjoying the lanterns lighting up the festival floats. The location—just a 1-minute walk from the Hotel to experience the Gion Festival—was perfect for me. I also really appreciated the lounge service with drinks and food available outside meal times, and I enjoyed it a lot. Breakfast was delicious as well. Thank you very much.

Perfect Hotel for the Gion Festival

I usually stay at a Hotel near Kyoto Station. This time, my trip was mainly for the Gion Festival, so I chose this Hotel. The location is perfect—step outside and you’re right at the Gion Festival. The Room was also clean. I enjoyed the breakfast as well. I went to the lounge at 7:00, but the dessert pudding sold out right away, which was very disappointing.

    The hospitality is outstanding.

They gave us clear directions when we asked how to get to Arashiyama, which was very helpful. It was also great that we could have drinks from the morning. Everything at breakfast was delicious, so we were very satisfied.

    Great value for money

The Room and in-house Facilities are new and clean. The design is simple, modern, and nice. The Room is not large, and there is no view from the window, so I wouldn’t say it feels especially cozy. However, it’s conveniently located close to Nishiki Market, with many restaurants nearby, so it works well if you think of the Room mainly as a place to sleep. You can also relax in the large public bath and the lounge. The lounge has sofas, and there are free massage chairs right outside the bath area. That said, the hours for using the coffee machine are limited, which was disappointing compared with Gate Hotel in Osaka where you can enjoy great coffee. The lounge interior is lovely, but during the ochazuke service hours there were no drinks available, so I couldn’t have a cup of tea and unwind after eating out. Still, given the convenient central Kyoto location and comfortable Facilities—and a price under 10,000 yen per person—I’m satisfied overall.

    Because we stayed on...

Because we stayed on a weekday, it wasn’t crowded and we were able to relax. The parking lot was right next door, which was very convenient. It was easy to get anywhere, and the location was great. We appreciated the various complimentary services. The fried egg at breakfast was delicious. When we used the large public bath late at night and early in the morning, we had it all to ourselves. We would like to stay again.

No one was at the front desk when I checked in, and during breakfast, while I stepped away to get coffee, my meal was cleared and my seat was taken by someone else. I have never seen a Hotel of this level with staff so poorly trained.

    Done.

This is a highly satisfying Hotel. First of all, the location is excellent. The exterior atmosphere enhances the Kyoto travel mood, the guest rooms are well-sized and efficiently laid out, and the large public bath is surprisingly not crowded. Perhaps offering drinks and bubuzuke helps spread out usage across different times of day. The bubuzuke late-night snack was a very interesting idea, and it was delicious. The wines provided were Secoma Mart’s Surana and Danti, which most people in Hokkaido know—this was slightly disappointing. G7 at almost the same price tastes better. If this were improved, it would have been perfect. In any case, it’s a Hotel I would like to stay at again. Thank you very much.

Conveniently located and comfortable to stay in.

This is a repeat stay. Once again, I was able to relax in the large public bath and the lounge. The location is also very convenient, with many places within walking distance. I tried the breakfast for the first time; although compact, it offered a good variety of dishes and was delicious. It’s a bit disappointing that the windows are frosted so you can’t see outside, but given the area, it’s understandable.

Thoughtful service in every detail, even the ones you can’t see.

We used this Accommodation for my elderly parents’ stay in Kyoto. Since they read The Nikkei every day, I called the front desk in advance to ask about newspapers. I was told that newspapers are available only to members and that specific titles cannot be requested, so I accepted that. However, on the day of our stay, The Nikkei was clearly available in the lobby, and my parents were able to read it in the morning as usual. Thoughtful service extended even to the details you don’t notice at first, and we had a very comfortable stay.

This is my go-to accommodation in Kyoto.

Thank you as always for taking care of us whenever we stay in Kyoto. We are completely satisfied with everything—the wide variety of lounge services, the delicious breakfast, the comfort of the large public bath, and the reasonable Accommodation rates. This time our stay also coincided with a family birthday, and when we consulted you about arranging a celebration, you kindly accommodated our request, making it a truly memorable visit. I don’t usually write a Review, but I wanted to express my gratitude, so although it’s quite late, I decided to post this. This Hotel is perfect for our family, but there was one thing we noticed for the first time and would like to mention. When happy hour ends, drink service such as coffee also ends along with alcohol. As a result, if someone doesn’t eat ochazuke during the “bubuzuke time,” they end up having nothing to drink while sitting and chatting together. We also feel a bit hesitant about drinking bottled beverages brought in from outside in the lounge… If possible, we would enjoy our time even more if coffee, tea, and soft drinks could continue to be available during bubuzuke time as well. We understand there may be operational constraints, but we would appreciate your consideration. It’s still a little ways off, but we have already made our next Reservation. We look forward to spending another wonderful time with you.

Even though it was early in the morning, you kindly stored our luggage, and when I asked if there was anything to drink, you even offered us a smoothie. Thanks to you, we were able to start our Kyoto trip on a pleasant note. We made a Reservation with the “Room selection left to the Hotel” Plan and were assigned a Hollywood twin. Since it was a mother-and-daughter trip and my daughter doesn’t usually sleep right next to me, she was very happy. The well-equipped lounge service was the deciding factor in choosing this Hotel, and everything from afternoon service to bubuzuke was excellent. The Room was also spotless and very clean. In the large public bath, I was surprised to see foreign guests (Asian) bringing in smartphones and making calls. The “no smartphones” notice was placed where it’s hard to see, so I think it’s even harder for international guests to understand. I wish there were a large sign posted somewhere obvious, such as above the keypad where you enter the door code. At night, there was a motor-like noise that continued all night long. Since I’m a light sleeper, it bothered me and I kept waking up repeatedly. My daughter slept soundly, so it didn’t seem to bother her. At breakfast, the bread felt dry. It was disappointing since it’s Shinshindo bread. There weren’t many side dishes, but everything tasted good overall and we were satisfied. In particular, I loved the thick-cut bacon and went back for seconds several times. Because this is a small Hotel, the front desk feels close by and they responded quickly whenever we needed help—it's truly a good Hotel. I visit Kyoto several times a year; I usually drive there, so this was my first stay at this Hotel without parking available on-site. If I have another chance, I would definitely like to stay again.

Excellent location, and all services are outstanding.

As we mentioned that this trip was for our wedding anniversary, we received a complimentary room upgrade and decoration service, which made us excited from the moment we walked in. Thank you very much. This Hotel is also close to Shijo Subway Station, and it’s convenient to walk to Daimaru Kyoto and Nishiki Market. There are many great restaurants nearby, and during the Gion Festival season you can likely see the floats up close and enjoy the atmosphere. The exterior has a traditional machiya-style look, while the inside is modern and clean like a Business Hotel. The guest lounge offers not only coffee but also services such as wine in the evening—truly attentive hospitality. It would be even better if there were a sauna in the large public bath, but that may be asking too much. Accommodation Fees were high for a while, but they seem to have stabilized recently, so we would like to stay again.

    Fans of Intergate

The Accommodation’s location was decent and convenient, and the Room felt newly built and was clean. However, it was too simple and left something to be desired. I had breakfast, but there wasn’t anything particularly tasty. I had high expectations because the breakfast when I stayed at Intergate in Kanazawa last year was very satisfying (especially the bread), so this was disappointing.

    Second stay

I stayed here for the second time because my first visit last year was so great. The breakfast is delicious, the lounge offers services at various times of day, the large public bath is spacious, the amenities are high quality, the bed is very comfortable, and the loungewear comes as separate top and bottom with a soft feel. My son and I were both very satisfied and agreed again that this Hotel is wonderful. In the morning public bath, we could soak while watching snow fall outside the window, creating a beautiful scene with bamboo and snow.

    Girls' Trip for Four

It was a reunion with old friends from school after more than 20 years. With work and parenting settled, we had a truly precious time. The lounge offered sweets, drinks, and even ochazuke service, which was very satisfying. Breakfast featured beautifully presented dishes with Kyoto-style flavors. For this level of service at this price, the value for money is astonishing. The Facility is clean and well-maintained. Conveniently located near Shijo Karasuma yet quiet and relaxing. I would love to visit here again and explore other Intergate Hotels with this group!

    The comfort of the lounge

We stay here every year as a family. The connecting rooms are very convenient. The coffee in the lounge is delicious, and the cocktail hour is very useful before heading out for dinner. The "bubu-zuke" after returning from dinner was also delightful, though it would have been better if the broth was replenished more quickly. For breakfast during New Year's, there were traditional Osechi dishes and sparkling drinks, which made us feel festive and relaxed. Other dishes were also enjoyable. I think this lounge performs exceptionally well—please continue maintaining this high standard! However, the service by the woman at check-in this time was not satisfactory. I understand it must be busy during New Year’s, but attention to attitude, language use, and efficiency is important as it affects the hotel's impression negatively. Additionally, I think improving water circulation in the large public bath would enhance comfort further. We are looking forward to staying again next year!

A cost-effective Hotel conveniently located for sightseeing

Located in the heart of Shijo, it is very convenient for visiting Nishiki Market and nearby attractions. There are also restaurants nearby, so finding dinner is not an issue. All guests have access to the lounge, but only wine and sparkling wine are complimentary; cocktails are available for an additional charge. I came after watching a hotel introduction on YouTube, but it felt slightly different from my expectations. The staff seemed formal and always appeared to be busy. The public bath was relatively crowded, so a service that allows you to check the crowd level from your room would be helpful. Since YouTube or Netflix cannot be accessed, it might feel lacking for those who want to enjoy their hotel stay fully. Having had a great experience at Intergate Kanazawa, this was slightly disappointing.

    New Year's Holiday

Stayed for two nights starting from New Year's Day. During my previous visit in autumn, the cleaning of the Room was noticeably sloppy, but this time there were no such issues, and I was able to relax. Looking forward to visiting again soon...

I was satisfied again this time.

This is my go-to place when visiting Kyoto. I have stayed here over the past few years and have never been dissatisfied. If I had to mention something, the quality of the food seems to have slightly declined, but considering rising ingredient costs, it might be unavoidable.

    The Hotel exceeded expectations.

Stayed during a trip with friends. The location was excellent, close to Kyoto Station and within walking distance to Nishiki Market and Shijo Kawaramachi, making it very convenient. Despite being in the city center, it was incredibly quiet, and the townhouse-style building provided a relaxing atmosphere. The Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The lounge was very clean and spacious as well; we used it multiple times. After nighttime temple visits, warming up with "bubuzuke" for our chilled bodies was such a delightful experience. We chose a breakfast-included Plan that featured plenty of bread from Shinshindo bakery as well as curry—such a variety made for a happy morning meal! The front desk staff were very friendly; they helped us call taxis several times which arrived promptly—a great help indeed. We would love to stay here again next time!

    Kyoto Multiple Night Stay

I had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much. The breakfast had a wide variety and was delicious. The public bath was compact but provided a relaxing experience. The coffee machine at the breakfast venue was crowded with many users, and alarms went off frequently. Adding another machine might be helpful. As mentioned in other reviews, due to the location, the room windows are not visible or openable, which might concern some guests. All the staff were kind and attentive. Thank you again!

The late-night snack service is excellent.

I have used your services several times in Kanazawa and Kyoto, but this was the first time for my friend who joined me on this trip. They were amazed by the excellent night snack and treat services. The Room was spacious, allowing us to relax and making our trip even more enjoyable. Thank you very much!

    Every year, three of...

Every year, three of us friends stay in three separate rooms. This Hotel always gives us a sense of relief the moment we step inside, and we love staying here every time. This time, after arriving in Kyoto by Shinkansen, we went straight to the Hotel around 10:30 AM to leave our luggage. Since the restaurant where we had a lunch reservation was close to the Hotel, we asked if we could wait in the lobby for some time. The staff kindly offered us access to the lounge instead, allowing us to relax comfortably. Intergate always provides such flexible and kind service, making it a truly pleasant place to stay. One concern I had this time was about the public bath. When I entered alone initially, there was one woman standing quietly at one corner of the bath area. While shampooing my hair and glancing back later on, I noticed that more people had joined her—five women were now standing silently at different corners without interacting with each other or entering fully into any activity within that space! It created an unusual atmosphere which made me hesitant about soaking myself into shared waters alongside them. Later upon reflection realized they might have been Asian foreigners unfamiliar w/ Japanese bathing customs; another friend also encountered similar issues during their visit when noticing someone skipping pre-shower rinse before directly immersing themselves inside tubs while others walked wearing slippers across wet floors leaving dressing-room areas soaked unnecessarily dampened overall experience altogether! I understand these guests likely meant no harm but suggest providing clear instructions regarding proper etiquette either upon check-in process itself OR distributing written guidelines explaining rules/manners expected behavior ensuring everyone enjoys facilities harmoniously together!

A little different from the usual...

I always use this place when traveling to Kyoto. However, this time the Room cleaning was disappointing as there were stains on the bathroom floor and trash from the previous day left in the Room on both the check-in day and the following day. It made me wonder if they wipe floors or vacuum at all.
