    Although the building is old, it was very clean and I did not feel uncomfortable. The breakfast was also delicious.

    An affordable, relaxing Hotel

    I stayed one night so I could visit the special exhibition at the Nara National Museum from the morning. The Facility and amenities are well stocked, and there’s a convenience store nearby, so I had no trouble. There were QR cards at the front desk and in my Room for nearby restaurants and cafes, which was very helpful since this was a last-minute trip and I hadn’t researched anything in advance. At the breakfast buffet, there was a wide variety of Nara dishes. Everything was delicious, and I really enjoyed trying local specialties. The Room was neatly prepared and very comfortable. I also liked that the lighting switches were simple and there wasn’t much indirect lighting. There were books related to Nara in the lobby, and a copy of the Kojiki in the Room, so I could relax with some reading. The Kojiki provided in the Room is easy to read. Considering how close it is to Nara Park—and that breakfast buffet is included—the price is truly appreciated. I’d like to stay here again when I visit Nara. (You may want to go early for the breakfast buffet. It didn’t feel like dishes were being replenished once they ran out...)

    Close to Sarusawa Pond

    The location is close to Sarusawa Pond, making it convenient for sightseeing. Naramachi is also nearby, so you can enjoy dining and shopping as well. The Hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need, and the Room size feels just right. The staff were kind and courteous, and they also helped with recommendations for places to eat. I chose the plan with breakfast included. It was buffet-style, and everything was carefully prepared—delicious and enjoyable. I looked forward to breakfast every morning. I arrived by rental car, but there is no dedicated Hotel parking lot. You can park at a flat rate in the adjacent (Mitsui) coin parking lot, but if it’s full you’ll need to find another option yourself. I spent the mornings exploring within walking distance and drove farther out in the afternoon, then returned in the evening to park again. At that time of day, it seemed like day-trippers were leaving, so it worked out well for me. This is a Hotel I’d like to stay at again when I visit Nara.

    Breakfast worth more than the price

    This is our regular Accommodation in Nara.\nWe were satisfied again this time.\nWe like going to a public bath for bathing,\nand above all, the breakfast is excellent and everything is delicious.

    The breakfast is exceptionally good. I was truly impressed by the buffet of gently seasoned, carefully prepared Japanese dishes—it deserves more than five stars. The Facility is unfortunately a bit old. However, it’s close to Nara Park with a great location and reasonable prices, so overall satisfaction is very high.

    Cleaning was insufficient.

    It was a Hotel that made me wonder how it ended up on IKYU. The building is old, and the cleaning was not thorough—the bathroom sink area was left dirty. I thought it might be rust, but when I scrubbed it properly, it came off. It may have been what you’d expect for the price, but it was disappointing. However, the front desk staff were kind and welcoming, which was reassuring.

    Perfect for exploring Naramachi.

    On the first day, we stayed at a farm-stay Accommodation in Asuka Village, and on the second day we stayed here at Obana’s Hotel, enjoying a stroll around Naramachi and Nara Park. From Kintetsu Nara Station, you can take your time on the way to the Hotel—looking at the shopping streets and passing Sarusawa Pond on your left. The coffee in the café corner was delicious. Since we had an early morning, we chose a no-breakfast Plan, and bread and salad from a convenience store made for a great breakfast. One small thing: the unit bath bathtub was compact, so it was a little hard to fully relax. However, considering the price for single use at Hotels around Nara Station that day, it was excellent value for money—so that may be within an acceptable range.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. The property is adjacent to Nara Park and conveniently located near sightseeing spots such as Kofuku-ji Temple. The “Yamato Blessings” breakfast offered a wide variety of healthy options, and everything was delicious. The gift shop was well stocked with authentic, health-conscious items. The paper bags for souvenirs were also very stylish, which was a nice touch. Thank you again.

    This was my first ti...

    This was my first time staying at Hotel Obana to visit the Shosoin Exhibition. Although the weather wasn't great for both days, I intentionally didn't prepare any rain gear. The next morning, it started raining. As I was about to check out and leave the hotel, I noticed umbrellas kindly provided with a note saying "Please feel free to use." It warmed my heart, and I gratefully used one. Thank you so much for your kindness during that time.

    Cozy Hotel

    I have been using this Hotel for about 15 years. The indoor bathrooms have been renovated. It is in an excellent location for sightseeing in Nara, and the breakfast and dinner provided by the restaurant Obana are outstanding. I think it surpasses the famous tea porridge breakfast buffet at other Hotels. Additionally, their homemade curry is a rare treat, offering a unique experience compared to Hotels near the station. Lastly, the mackerel wrapped in bamboo leaves served as part of the dinner was exquisite.

    The staff were kind, and the Hotel itself is in a great location, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the warm atmosphere of the space with books, where I could have tea and casually chat with people nearby. One concern was that there were a few strands of hair left in the bathroom of the Room. Overall, I am satisfied.

    The gift shop was enjoyable, and the staff were excellent.

    I stayed at this accommodation nearby because I wanted to visit the National Museum first thing in the morning. During Golden Week, while other accommodations were overpriced, I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price here and found it to be excellent value for money. Although there is a sense of aging in the facility, the exceptional hospitality of the staff more than made up for it. Having a copy of Kojiki in the room added a nice touch that felt very fitting for Nara. The gift shop was fantastic, offering unique Nara-specific items that you can't find elsewhere—I wanted everything! Breakfast was enjoyable and delicious, featuring various local specialties from Nara. As a local resident, I would highly recommend this accommodation when introducing others to Nara.

    Kofuku-ji Temple is just nearby.

    A small Hotel with a calm atmosphere and an impression of excellent hospitality from the staff. Breakfast is served in a buffet style, offering a wide variety of Japanese dishes, allowing guests to enjoy many different options in small portions. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance.

    Located in the heart of Naramachi, offering the charm of an ancient city. Attractive breakfast. When staying in Nara, I would choose this accommodation again next time.

    Breakfast buffet is excellent.

    The Room is small, but it offers convenient access for sightseeing in Nara. Although it rained from the morning, umbrellas were available for rent, which was helpful for sightseeing. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Thank you very much.

    I stayed for one nig...

    I stayed for one night and had a wonderful experience. It was a very nice Hotel. The breakfast and the shop showcased unique Nara specialties, and the library next to the lobby had a calm atmosphere with a selection of books that Nara enthusiasts would find captivating. The guest room was standard, the unit bath was small, and there was no large public bath, but I still want to stay again because of the positive impression of the Hotel. The staff were friendly and made my stay enjoyable.

    Accommodation offering delicious local cuisine

    Due to unexpected train delays, I arrived late for check-in and missed the dinner reservation at Obana-san in the basement. My apologies for the inconvenience. I had visited before for lunch, but this was my first time experiencing both accommodation and dinner. Each dish during dinner was served thoughtfully and tasted exquisite. The soup, grilled dishes, lidded items, and ginger rice were especially aromatic and satisfying—I finished everything completely full. Breakfast also featured many local ingredients, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The room was compact with a smaller bathtub; however, I found the placement of outlets and clock very convenient for guests. The souvenir shop offered many unique original products that made choosing difficult! The lobby's collection of books about Nara and monthly screenings of non-commercial quality films are wonderful touches as well. The staff provided excellent service throughout my stay, and I look forward to visiting again when my overseas friends come to Japan this autumn!

    Decided as the regular accommodation in Nara

    Attracted by the value plan, I stayed at the accommodation. The room was clean, and although I didn’t use the bath, I walked to a nearby public bathhouse. The bathhouse had a nostalgic Showa-era vibe, which was delightful. Towels and amenities are brought from the hotel; you can request additional towels for the next morning at the front desk. The hairdryer at the bathhouse costs 20 yen for one turn of a sand timer, and if needed, you can exchange money at the counter. The drink service in the lobby was quite nice. A short walk from the hotel leads to many restaurants, bars, yakitori places, and more—so many options that it’s hard to choose! The tea in the room also showed attention to detail, making my stay comfortable. This is now my go-to accommodation in Nara!

    Hotel Obana, Nara Stay.

    We stayed at Hotel Obana on the weekend Saturday, which was also Labor Thanksgiving Day, with two people. It is close to Kintetsu Nara Station, and although we stayed by car this time, they kindly arranged for us to park at the affiliated parking lot for 1,200 yen until the next day. Obana-san has good access to shrines and temples, and it feels like a property located in the garden of Kofukuji Temple. There is also a small path lined with small cafes, bars, and eateries on both sides, extending from the front, which never gets boring. And these shops are not the usual chain stores, but all independent and unique, making it very enjoyable. Upon entering the property, there is a welcome drink corner on the right, where you can enjoy tea like in a library, and on the left is a corner for Nara specialty souvenirs. The cute dishcloths were very well received by my friends. The interior is clean and quiet, and all the staff members are very kind, making it a property I would like to stay at again when visiting Nara. Thank you very much.

    The location is excellent.

    The room itself was nice, but personally, there were many things lacking. We enjoyed the exclusive drink service for guests at the lounge table while discussing our trip with friends, and the many books and materials were very helpful. We also used the public bath service. It's a very nice plan, but it's a bit far, which is unfortunate. The location was good and convenient for going anywhere. Amidst the rising accommodation costs, it was a very reasonable and hospitable property.

    The library next to the lobby has many books about Nara, which is very satisfying. You can also use the foot massage machine for free. Without this, it would be a 2.5-star old business hotel. Overall, it's a very good hotel with 4 stars.

    The on-site shop is fun.

    The location is good and close to Naramachi. Breakfast was interesting, and the shop was unique. Since this Hotel also screens movies, I’d consider staying again next time to match the schedule. The guest room was very standard. There are only a few parking spaces, and while there are nearby parking lots, they are expensive. I would have appreciated guidance on recommended parking options.
