    A Hotel with a Great View

    The Room had a great view, and the large public bath was very relaxing. Also, being able to use the rental bicycles was helpful, as it allowed us to visit places that are difficult to reach on foot.

    The price should have been good, but…

    Although the room was small, I thought it was compact and very clean. However, when I opened the duvet to go to bed, the sheets were quite dirty. I don’t know whether they hadn’t been changed or whether the replacement sheets were already dirty, but when I looked further there were stains not only at the top but also in the middle and at the bottom. Because it was late, they provided new sheets, but I felt uneasy that dirty sheets had been on the bed in the first place. They changed them again the next day, and I think the service itself was fine. Still, it left me wondering whether the sheets are properly changed every time.

    Time flows gently here.

    From the window, you can enjoy a view of the gentle flow of the Matsuura River, cars crossing the Matsuura Bridge, and in the distance, Karatsu Castle. The large public bath offers a relaxing experience, especially if you visit later at night or in the morning when it feels like having it all to yourself.

    I have been staying here for over 10 years whenever I return to Karatsu. Located by the banks of the Matsuura River, you can see Karatsu Castle, and the city center is within walking distance. This time, it was rare to see snow. It had a unique charm.

    No complaints!

    I stayed here for the first time in about seven years, and it was as comfortable as ever. While hotel prices in Fukuoka have skyrocketed, this place still offers stays at the same price. The view from the room is great, especially with Karatsu Castle in sight. The view from the bath is also nice. The morning bath was refreshing. During winter, it would be nice if the water was a bit hotter. The breakfast was impressive; it's amazing to have such a delicious breakfast at this price. The rice and miso soup are served with a touch button, which is great. The salad had plenty of vegetables, which was very satisfying. The Karatsu-style squid ochazuke and curry were also delicious. Personally, I would have preferred regular seaweed over seasoned seaweed for the squid ochazuke. It was so delicious that I ended up having about three bowls of rice. I also realized I spent nearly an hour at the breakfast venue. The view from the restaurant is like a luxury resort hotel. If it weren't midwinter, I would have liked to dine on the outdoor terrace. It's a good hotel. I want to stay here again.
