Showcase a New Side of Kyoto

I have stayed at around 20 Hotels in Kyoto so far. Among them, I consider Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma to be in the top tier. Despite being located in Shijo Karasuma, it features a sharp design and successfully creates a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. I would like to stay here again next time.

Clean, functional, and close to the station.

This was my first stay. It’s very close to Exit 5 of Shijo Station. However, there are stairs, so guests with large suitcases should be careful. The amenities are available in the lobby and you can choose what you need; the drip coffee and bath salts were especially helpful. There was also complimentary water in the fridge, which was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. The breakfast curry was delicious, and there were also obanzai dishes. Everything was very tasty. I’d like to stay again!

    A Sign of Anticipation

Until recently, staying in Kyoto was very expensive, but prices have dropped sharply and become much more affordable lately, so we chose this Hotel for a family trip. It seems newly opened. Daiwa Roynet Hotels are known for their fresh, clean interiors, and this one felt especially spotless. It is close to a subway station, within walking distance of a Hankyu station, and there are several nearby bus stops. Convenience stores and cafés are also just around the corner. Despite all that, the rating feels somewhat low because the sink drained very slowly and there was only one small trash bin in the toilet area. Along with Dormy Inn, Daiwa Roynet is one of the Business Hotel chains I rate most highly. I hope these points will be improved to further strengthen the brand.

Breakfast was disappointing, but everything else was great!

I visited looking forward to breakfast because your website made it seem like a highlight, but it was disappointing. The salad was only cabbage and broccoli; there seemed to be some leafy greens, but they weren’t refilled for a long time. For egg dishes—usually a breakfast staple—the only option was dried-out scrambled eggs. I wanted some protein, but there was basically just Cajun seasoning and one remaining sausage floating in hot water. I even tried the gyoza, but it doesn’t really make for a complete Western-style breakfast. There was hardly any yogurt either—after scooping, the container was only about half full. The space is stylish and relaxed, and it wasn’t crowded, so the restaurant atmosphere is nice. But the lack of refills and the very limited selection were extremely disappointing. Please provide what’s shown in your website photos. I understand outsiders can eat this for 2,200 yen, but I wouldn’t want to pay that much for this buffet. Please review and improve it.

    気の向くままに旅がしたい

This Hotel offers excellent access, guest rooms, and Facilities, and we were very satisfied.

I stayed one night in a Ladies Twin room. It’s a 1-minute walk from Shijo Subway Station, about a 1-minute walk to the bus stop for Gion, and there’s a convenience store next door—so the location was perfect for getting around Kyoto. The room was reasonably spacious, and the bathroom had a separate washing area, so I could relax comfortably. In particular, the Ladies Twin room came with ReFa appliances such as a curling iron, hair dryer, and shower head, as well as Panasonic steamers (a facial steamer and a garment steamer), which was very soothing both physically and mentally. However, during my stay I was quite bothered by construction noise from an upper floor. On top of that, there was road paving work in front of the Hotel, and the noise was significant. I’ll assume I was just unlucky with the timing. Other than that, everything was fine, and it’s a Hotel I’d like to stay at again when visiting Kyoto.

    It was discounted.

A good Hotel, but I hadn't stayed for a while as it became popular and the price went up. However, thanks to recent circumstances, the price has dropped significantly, so I decided to stay again. The Room was clean, and amenities like toiletries and drip coffee could be picked up on the first floor—a very efficient system. Breakfast used to be a Kyoto-style "obanzai" restaurant, but it has been renovated into an ordinary buffet breakfast, which is a bit disappointing. In hindsight, I might have preferred breakfast at a nearby Kyoto café instead. Still, with a double bed Room including breakfast facing Karasuma Street and close to Shijo subway station for 11,000 yen, there's nothing to complain about. Now is the perfect time with lower Hotel rates!

    Wedding Anniversary

When making the Reservation, I mentioned that the stay would be on our wedding anniversary. To my surprise, there were swans made of towels placed on the bed with a letter, which deeply moved me. My wife was also very delighted. Thank you for your thoughtful care and attention.

Perfect location for exploring Kyoto. Kawaramachi, Yasaka Shrine, and Kiyomizu Temple are within walking distance.

The location is excellent. Kawaramachi, Yasaka Shrine, and Kiyomizu Temple are all within walking distance. Even Ohara's Sanzen-in Temple or the International Conference Center can be reached by subway and a bus transfer. The hotel is clean and reasonably priced. The coin laundry was extremely helpful. The shower in the bath was clean and easy to use—new facilities truly make a difference in hotels. The only downside was the breakfast buffet; even with a Multiple Night Stay, the menu remained the same. Considering there are several reasonably priced coffee shops around the hotel, the breakfast felt a bit overpriced.

    I frequently use Dai...

I frequently use Daiwa Roynet hotels in various locations. This time, I stayed at Shijo Karasuma for 2 nights with the Ladies' Plan. The Room was designed specifically for women, and it was very refreshing. However, I noticed that the lace curtain was short, which made me wonder if it could be seen from outside. Also, the elastic on the pajama pants was completely stretched out, which was a bit disappointing. I apologize if this seems overly detailed, but I wanted to share my honest feedback.

    Satisfaction

Located in the heart of Kyoto's business district, with parking available (in and out privileges) for ¥1,700 per night. The bathroom is excellent, featuring a bathtub and a separate shower area. The bathtub can accommodate one use for two people. The room is spacious enough, and the breakfast is reasonably sufficient.

It was convenient and easy to use due to its location.

The location is very close to Shijo Karasuma, making it convenient for transportation. The Room was relatively spacious, comfortable, and pleasant.

    Repeat use.

I stayed again this year as I used the property last year. Overall, I am satisfied, but it was disappointing to find crumbs from snacks on the massage chair. Also, the massage chair is not user-friendly, so I think it would be more comfortable and spacious if it were replaced with a regular chair. Thank you for your hospitality. I will use the property again if I have the opportunity.
