    We did not use any meal services—Accommodation only. The building was new and very clean, and it felt like staying in a newly built detached house. Because it has more of a “home” atmosphere, it feels less like a trip, but the price was low, so if you want an affordable and clean place to stay, it seems like a good option. There is an Onsen, but it is extremely small—much smaller than you might expect. If you are larger-framed, you will have to bend your legs quite a bit, and you may end up unable to move your legs or body comfortably. Some promotional images show a large Onsen, so be careful not to misunderstand; otherwise it can be quite shocking. It’s better to assume the Onsen won’t be something you can really enjoy much. The sauna is also very small and fits only one person, but in this case the tight space actually made it hotter, which was nice. Also, the location is far from central Kusatsu—deep in the area and up on a hill. If you walk around town on foot, the return trip involves a long steep uphill that is much tougher than expected and very tiring. This is probably rare, but at night the fire alarm went off loudly and caused chaos throughout the Accommodation. It didn’t seem to be an actual fire; SECOM arrived and stopped the alarm, but it continued intermittently afterward and we couldn’t relax properly. An alarm going off can’t always be helped, but when we tried calling the support center (?), we couldn’t get through properly at all. It really made us realize how difficult things could be if something happens at an unmanned Accommodation. Later—quite some time after things had settled down—we received a phone call from the support center (?) while we were asleep in our Room with no clear explanation of what happened or what the situation was; their “thank you for your understanding” attitude left us feeling quite distrustful. That said, despite everything I wrote above, since it was cheap overall I didn’t actually mind that much in practice.

    Wonderful!

    The only downside was that it’s a bit far from Yubatake, but otherwise our stay was truly comfortable and satisfying. In any case, the interior is spacious, clean, and stylish. There are two types of baths plus a sauna, and there’s even a projector in the living room—our kids had a great time. It’s a Room that made us think, “We want to live in a place like this!” We’d love to stay again someday!

    It was good, but…

    I stayed with my dog. The Room was nice. However, although I understand it can’t be helped, the smell of the previous day’s cooking lingered, which was a bit disappointing. I also couldn’t tell how many drinks were in the refrigerator, so I would have liked to be informed in advance. Also, the mobile signal is weak, so I couldn’t complete payment at the unmanned shop and ended up going to a convenience store. I would like the Wi‑Fi SSID to be unified across the entire Facility instead of being different for each Room. The Onsen was good, but I won’t stay again next time...

    The Ultimate Rakuten STAY VILLA Experience

    As a sauna enthusiast, I’ve been using the Rakuten STAY VILLA series a lot. Since this Kusatsu property has only been open for a month, the Facility is of course spotless, and the water-area flow—so important for sauna lovers—was excellent. The bathroom has two tubs (an Onsen bath and a regular bath), and both the bathroom and washroom are spacious—perfect for cooling down. I guessed this reflects user feedback gathered from various Rakuten STAY VILLA properties. If I had one request, it would be a cooling-down chair—even a foldable one; with that, it would be absolutely perfect!
