    The Best Memories

    It was a well-deserved getaway for the two of us. Rain was in the forecast, but the Room was far better than we imagined and it became an unforgettable memory! The kitchenware was fully stocked, and both the bathroom and toilet were clean and convenient.

    Cozy Cabin

    The stay was on a very cold day, but the Room was generally comfortable. The bathroom floor was designed to not feel cold, and reheating the bathwater was possible. Above all, the pellet stove provided great warmth! One concern is that when someone uses the stairs, the Room shakes. It also shook when using the bathroom. It's not an issue once you get used to it, but it can be surprising at first. The path from the parking lot at night felt a bit too dark. Returning after dining out in complete darkness was quite scary. Next time, I'll bring a flashlight with me. Thank you for your hospitality!

    We stayed as a famil...

    We stayed as a family of four, including two elementary school children. Visiting during the autumn foliage season, we found an accommodation surrounded by nature. The kids were thrilled by its stylish design, and upon entering the room, they were delighted by the warmth of the wooden furniture. Looking out the window, we caught sight of Mount Fuji standing majestically with a light dusting of snow, which amazed our entire family. It was a moment that made us appreciate why SANU was built in this location. We enjoyed outdoor activities like strolling and having a campfire. Inside the room, we lit the fireplace and spent relaxing moments reading books together as a family. While we usually go camping often, SANU allowed us to enjoy nature without needing to set up camp while maintaining our own private space—leaving us very satisfied.

    A peaceful sauna retreat in a forest cabin with views of Mount Fuji

    We stayed at this accommodation during the autumn to early winter season. The small wooden cabins scattered in the forest are as charming as they appear in the photos. We chose a cabin with an elevated terrace, surrounded by golden larch and broadleaf trees, creating a stunning contrast with the blue sky on sunny days. From inside the room, you can enjoy a direct view of Mount Fuji covered in snow. The view is unobstructed between other cabins, offering a picturesque scene of sunrise gradients and clouds over the mountain peak. This spot is perfect for those who want to quietly admire Mount Fuji away from the bustling lakeside area. Morning views are especially recommended as clouds rarely cover Mount Fuji then! The firepit area features a hexagonal fire stand set on gravel with log stools around it. You can enjoy tending your own fire—whether it's watching glowing embers or lively flames—as shown in photos. While maintaining an outdoor feel, the gravel ground ensures relatively comfortable footing compared to soil. One standout feature of this cabin is its private sauna—a genuine Finnish-style sauna equipped with a HARVIA stove and wooden benches, complemented by an eye-catching teardrop-shaped round window offering views outside. A bucket and ladle for "löyly" (steam) are provided so you can fully immerse yourself in this experience privately. Next to the sauna is a metal water bath that can be filled for cooling off after your session. The wooden slatted floor allows water to drain outside naturally while serving as an open-air relaxation space close to nature. Inside, there’s what seems like a pellet stove that provides warmth while letting you watch flickering flames through its glass panel—a cozy indoor alternative to outdoor fires at night. The bathroom is clean and designed in Japanese style with separate areas for washing and bathing—ideal after using the sauna or even for families with young children or babies. The sink area is simple yet practical, featuring storage carts for towels and amenities. Overall, this cabin offers an immersive experience combining wood's warmth with elements of "fire," "water," and "forest." It’s highly recommended for those looking to enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji while indulging in campfires and private saunas. Lastly, we recommend playing Sanu's playlist—which you'll receive after completing your reservation—on the room's built-in speakers; it adds just another layer of enjoyment!

    Feels like your own cottage.

    The size was just right, and I had a great time. I went to the sauna immediately, followed by the cold bath, and repeated this four times before leaving. It was incredibly refreshing and felt amazing! I also enjoyed making a campfire successfully and had a wonderful time. One night felt too short—next time, I’ll stay for two nights or more!

    The accommodation is equipped with cooking utensils (including high-quality basic seasonings like oil and salt), comfortable bedding, and a room where you can fully enjoy nature for a pleasant stay. The indoor wood stove and outdoor fire pit are rare features. However, the room is compact, the living-dining area feels cramped, and there’s no washer-dryer. Considering these factors, the price of over 70,000 yen per night felt quite expensive. Perhaps accommodations that allow you to experience nature are rare around Lake Kawaguchi? What was frustrating was the reservation confirmation process. Just before check-in, it became apparent that even though IKYU showed the reservation as confirmed on their platform, IKYU's reservation information wasn’t linked with Sanu’s system. Moreover, Sanu's customer service representative failed to follow up after saying they would "investigate and get back," leaving us waiting for over an hour during our trip to resolve this issue through IKYU customer service. It turned out that after making a reservation on IKYU.com, an additional email is sent requiring actions like account registration for Sanu to confirm reserver details and finalize the booking. While this email does have “Important: Please Confirm” in its subject line, it’s only one notification about such a critical step. It’s not common practice for reservations made on platforms like IKYU.com not to be automatically confirmed; furthermore, standard emails from IKYU such as “Cancellation Fee Date Approaching” or “Stay Date Approaching” were still sent as usual post-reservation confirmation while showing up in the confirmed reservations list on their site—more explicit warnings should be provided in such cases. Since Sanu's customer service operates only during daytime hours if your check-in is scheduled for evening or later you might risk being unable to access your cabin (as both cabin details and passcodes remain unknown).

    We visited as a fami...

    We visited as a family of four. We had a wonderful stay, enjoying the stylish space and an extraordinary experience. We made pizza for dinner, and we were delighted with the well-equipped kitchen utensils. The stove next to the kitchen was very warm, allowing us to stay comfortable even in the cold winter! Gathering around the campfire with our family also became a cherished memory. Thank you for providing such a great accommodation experience.

    Accommodation with Stunning Views

    The Room offers a stunning view of Mount Fuji from the window, making for a wonderful stay. The Room was surprisingly warm and comfortable even without heating. The kitchen was easy to use, and the Facility was well-equipped. With a raised floor area, low beds, and a spacious bathroom, it was safe and convenient for staying with an infant. Being able to enjoy a campfire outside is an attractive feature. The stars at night were also beautiful.

    Relax and unwind in an elegant space.

    The stay at Sanu was truly the best. Each piece of furniture was sophisticated, and the interior used natural materials like wood and cork, giving a warm feeling. The tableware and seasonings were tastefully selected, showing attention to detail. It was comfortable to use, allowing for a stress-free stay. The acoustics were also wonderful; I enjoyed relaxing moments by playing music while making coffee in the morning or cooking with local ingredients from Lake Kawaguchi in the evening. The projector setup was easy, making it fun to watch movies on a big screen. The lighting could be adjusted for brightness, allowing me to spend time according to my mood of the day. The bed was spacious and comfortable for sleeping, with plenty of natural light coming through the windows; waking up with the sunrise was amazing. From my Room (Heya), I had a direct view of Mount Fuji; such natural beauty combined with Sanu's architecture created a special atmosphere as if being in another world. The air around felt refreshing, and indoors there was a pleasant scent of wood lingering that made me sleep longer than expected without realizing it. It is truly an unparalleled wonderful place.

Waking up to sunlight streaming through the trees in the morning and being surrounded by the sound and warmth of a campfire at night helped clear my mind with this extraordinary experience. - Kitchen & Dining Sanu's kitchen features a minimalist yet functional design, with each piece of cookware and tableware being refined, turning cooking into a special time. This time, I made kimchi hot pot and prosciutto burrata appetizer with him. Dining with loved ones accompanied by soothing music became an ultimate retreat. Sanu 2nd Home Kawaguchiko 2nd is an ideal property for those who want to relax in nature away from the city while still being within easy reach from Tokyo. It is especially perfect for couples or close friends to enjoy healing moments out of the ordinary fully.     A stay in nature with just the right balance.

    The location is slightly away from the center of Lake Kawaguchi and nestled in the mountains, allowing you to fully enjoy nature. The Property I stayed at had no deficiencies and offered just the right amount of service without excess, allowing for a more leisurely time than usual trips. Despite being in nature where one might compromise on plumbing or air conditioning, there were solid Facilities in place, making it clean and warm.

    Dynamic nature and just the right sense of escape from the everyday

    I had been curious about SANU for a while, and since it offers simple stays without a subscription, I decided to experience it. It takes about 20 minutes from the highway IC to arrive. I went in February, and the shaded paths were icy in places, so snow tires are essential. As you drive through the forest, about 20 cabins with a wood-based design appear. The grounds are leveled, so there was not much worry about getting your feet dirty. The room is a studio, but with high ceilings, it didn't feel cramped, and everything inside, including the furnishings, was clean and comfortable. One wall is entirely made of windows, offering a breathtaking view of the majestic Mt. Fuji from every angle. What surprised me the most was that although it seemed like everything was visible from the outside, the cabins are strategically placed so that you can't see other rooms from yours, and others can't see into your room, so there was no need to worry about being seen by others. It's an extraordinary environment in nature, but the room was very comfortable, striking a perfect balance. Additionally, within a 10-minute drive, there are many supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants offering takeout, so there was no particular inconvenience. It wasn't a feeling of "I absolutely want to go again!" but rather a natural desire to return, which felt very much like SANU as I headed home.
