    Wellness Retreat Experience

We stayed here as a couple this time. Rather than just a place to stay, it felt like a place to reset myself. Without trying, I spent less time on my phone—relaxing on the balcony while listening to birds and the wind, soaking in the bath, making tea, and taking things slow. Just that was enough to make my mind surprisingly clear. The lakeside is about a 5-minute walk away, and it’s a resort Facility that offers a variety of nature experiences. What impressed me wasn’t luxury, but how thoughtfully it’s designed so you can truly enjoy doing nothing. By checkout, not only my body but even my mind felt lighter.

I never realized how comforting it could be to do nothing.

What I felt during my stay was that this Hotel is designed not only as a building, but also around the “time you spend” here. What surprised me was how rarely I found myself thinking, “What should I do next?” during my stay. Looking out the window, making tea, having a little conversation. Each moment flowed naturally into the next, and before I knew it, hours had passed. The Hotel has everything you’d expect—convenient features and comfortable Facility—but it doesn’t push them to the forefront, which felt pleasantly understated. You notice what you need when you need it, and when you try it, you’re surprised by how good it feels to use—one small discovery after another. The colors and materials of the space are consistent throughout, even down to how the light comes in, so wherever you are, you feel at ease. There may be fewer Accommodations than we think where you want to enjoy simply being there—not just take photos. By the time I returned from my trip, what stayed with me wasn’t the satisfaction of “having done a lot,” but the deeper feeling that I had truly rested. When life gets busy again, I’d like to come back here.

A luxurious stay where families with children can truly relax

We stayed with our 0- and 2-year-old children, and it was even more comfortable than we expected. They provided a free baby crib and extra mattresses, which was wonderful—we could let the kids relax on the tatami-style floor while the adults enjoyed meals at a leisurely pace. The bathroom was also spacious, a luxurious space where the whole family could bathe comfortably together. In addition, the kitchen was very large and easy to use, and since there was an oven, we enjoyed making gratin—cooking felt even more comfortable than at home. It’s rare to find an Accommodation where you can relax this much even with small children. We would definitely like to stay again.

    Enjoy an extraordinary getaway

We stayed here during the peak cherry blossom season around Lake Kawaguchi. On the side of Lake Kawaguchi near the Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge, Hotels, Ryokan, and tourist Facility are concentrated and it’s very lively with many international visitors. This property, however, is in Oku-Kawaguchi—there are no major tourist Facility or restaurants nearby, making it an ideal setting in a quiet forest to escape the everyday bustle and truly relax. The building is very modern and offers a refreshing, non-everyday atmosphere with no sense of “lived-in” clutter. The view from the master bedroom—Lake Kawaguchi surrounded by beautiful mountains—was so stunning that we couldn’t help but cheer out loud. Best of all were the thoughtful touches: a warm welcome from the staff; incense to enjoy different scents; several kinds of tea; more than enough coffee for one night; and, most impressively, an in-room beer server unlike anything we’ve experienced before—with two types of beer to enjoy. The meals were also excellent: catered dishes that only needed reheating, plus plenty of fresh salad and delicious seafood, roast beef, and more—we were completely satisfied. We would love to stay again. One note: the bath was spacious and could quickly be turned into a steam sauna for a relaxing soak, but please check that there is enough hot water depth; if it feels insufficient, be sure to ask staff to add more water. You cannot adjust the water volume yourself. Also, the heavy shower handle may be stiff and difficult for women to turn—use firm force when twisting it.

It was a stay that m...

It was a stay that moved us far beyond our expectations. Sunlight streaming through the wide-open windows, the sound of Mt. Fuji spring water in the bathroom available 24 hours a day, and the herbal aroma of the yomogi steam bath you can use anytime. A luxurious experience that blends with nature while enjoying modern art and beautifully designed furnishings—our senses were truly delighted. We also loved the layout: neither too large nor too small, it allowed us to relax comfortably in whatever spot we chose. We were also very satisfied with being able to pour craft beer from the tap anytime, and with the food—especially how delicious the vegetables were. We’d love to visit again in each season and enjoy different scenery while staying at a leisurely pace. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

Enjoy a stay that’s a little different from the usual.

Overall, I’m satisfied. However, it isn’t cheap. I rated it slightly lower after taking a stricter view of value for money. I would especially recommend it to busy younger travelers in the Kanto area who want to refresh without worrying too much about the price. The design makes great use of natural light, allowing you to spend quiet, relaxing time. It truly feels like an Accommodation that harmonizes with nature. Because it was designed by a non-Japanese designer, many aspects of the spatial layout and furniture feel fresh and innovative, making you feel as if you’re enjoying a countryside vacation abroad. On the other hand, there are elements that may not suit stays with people who need more typically Japanese (and sometimes excessive) attentiveness (such as older guests): there is no TV; some foreign-made home Facilities prioritize aesthetics but have a confusing UI; and the shared gathering space is floor-seating style and not very comfortable to use. That said, these may be normal for younger guests—or even part of the fun—so they could also be seen as positives. For example, I couldn’t figure out how to use the shower at first, and when I turned it to the right I suddenly got drenched by the rain shower. Other personal highlights: - The bathroom and mist sauna are wonderful. - Having two craft beer taps is a real treat. - A soda maker is also a nice touch. - The audio system is compact but Bang & Olufsen quality—excellent. - The terrace setting is great and easy to access from indoors. If you visit in a season when being outside feels good, you’ll likely enjoy this Accommodation even more.

Experience the luxury of doing nothing at a private lakeside Hotel.

What I felt after staying here was that this is a "Hotel where you don't need to force plans." From check-in to check-out, I realized I hardly looked at the clock. The building and Room have a very calm atmosphere—not flashy, but incredibly comfortable. Outside the bedroom window stretches a lake, and just gazing at it makes time pass by. The changing colors of the scenery in the morning and evening were also impressive. The sauna and semi-open-air bath, which I had been looking forward to, exceeded my expectations. Being able to use them 24 hours was fantastic. After warming up thoroughly and breathing in the fresh air outside, it felt like even my mind became lighter. The tea made from kuromoji that I drank after the sauna wasn’t flashy but perfectly suited this place (apparently made from aromatic wood harvested near Mt. Fuji). The Hotel amenities were perfectly equipped, which was especially helpful for me as a woman (I was happy to try DAMDAM products). Art pieces are naturally placed in the Room; rather than feeling "decorated," they seemed like part of the space itself. It’s quiet too—spending time reading or simply relaxing on the sofa felt incredibly pleasant. The staff's service had just the right balance—not overly attentive yet polite—which I appreciated greatly. It struck me as luxurious yet not intimidating—a perfect balance. Rather than packing sightseeing into your trip, this is a Hotel you'd want to visit when you're feeling tired and need some peaceful rejuvenation. I would recommend it to friends!

The interior and furniture design were very sophisticated. We stayed with our 0-year-old and 4-year-old children, and the foldable cushion mat provided was extremely helpful. Baby chairs and baby baths were also available for rent. The dinner was incredibly delicious, leaving us very satisfied! The condiments in the refrigerator were quite well-stocked!

    Accommodation for his birthday celebration

This was my first time staying here. I decided to book after seeing your SNS and website. Upon entering the accommodation, I was greeted by a wonderful space that was clean and very satisfying. Additionally, with artworks by artists displayed, it created a creative atmosphere that I truly loved as an art enthusiast. My partner, who loves beer, enjoyed being able to freely savor craft beers and was deeply impressed by the beautiful accommodation. For dinner, we had planned a BBQ; however, as I am afraid of insects, it was difficult for me to fully enjoy it—but it was still a unique experience in nature! Other than that, the facilities were well-equipped and amenities were abundant, allowing us to have an extremely satisfying stay! Next time, I would love to try other facilities of Hotel Gnome! Thank you very much!

A Hotel That Satisfies All Five Senses

Despite being close to Lake Kawaguchi, it was a very quiet and relaxing Hotel. A bedroom with large windows offering views of the lake, and on the other side, a serene forest landscape. The interior design was meticulous down to the finest details. A garden with a suikinkutsu producing soothing sounds, a tea room filled with original incense, and a bath available 24/7 using fresh spring water from Mt. Fuji. The balcony featured an easy-to-use barbecue set. The dining area was impressively equipped with kitchen tools and seasonings—everything you could possibly need! And the highlight: the bar corner! Delicious craft beer from a server that can only be experienced at norm. Simply amazing!! This was my first time staying at a Hotel where all five senses were so thoroughly satisfied and I could truly experience an extraordinary escape. To top it off, there was even a massage service available before checkout—a luxurious end to an unforgettable trip.
