    Secret Hideout

From check-in to check-out, we had no contact with anyone other than the staff in charge, and were able to enjoy a space and time that felt like a secret hideout. When we first planned this trip, our main goal was to see the sea of clouds at Torii Pass that we had heard about in the media, but our time at Seihou Sansou turned out to be wonderfully relaxing and restful. It rained from evening into the night, so we couldn’t have a campfire, but if we have another chance, we definitely want to do it next time. This time we stayed in Okugura, and next time we would also like to tour the main house. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    Family Trip

We stayed over a three-day weekend. It was a luxurious experience to stay in a Tangible Cultural Property. The living room was spacious, and the kids ran around the Room and watched YouTube on the projector! The adults were able to relax and unwind in the sauna and Onsen. Also, thank you to the staff for being so kind and seeing us off at the end. We’d love to stay again when we visit Gunma.

    We fully enjoyed nature.

From the moment we arrived, there was an old-fashioned gate that gave a sense of history, and we could hear Japanese bush warblers singing. In the morning, we woke up to the sound of small birds. The sukiyaki dinner had delicious meat, but it wasn’t quite enough, so since the kitchen is well equipped and you can bring your own food, I recommend bringing something extra to cook as well as snacks and drinks. It was disappointing that the record player was broken and we couldn’t listen to records. We really enjoyed having a bonfire and watching a movie on the large projector.

A Place to Relax All Five Senses

Skillfully renovated warehouse with a focus on creating a space that resonates with the senses. The thoughtful use of items to accommodate different individual preferences is impressive. However, there is room for improvement in the heating of the Room and the comfort of the bath.

Accommodation perfect for an adult summer vacation

We stayed for one night as a group of three couples. The first impression upon arrival was the impressive gate and the historic main building. It had an even greater presence than in the photos, giving us a natural sense of having arrived at a special place. The interior was spacious and clean, blending modern facilities with traditional Japanese aesthetics to create a calm atmosphere. The warmth of the wooden design made it very comfortable, allowing us to relax throughout our stay. This time, we chose a No Meals Included Plan with an additional unlimited sauna option. This turned out to be highly satisfying and is something we would definitely recommend. From the hinoki-scented indoor bath to the outdoor cold bath and relaxation chairs, everything was thoughtfully designed for beginners to enjoy as well. We were able to fully experience different atmospheres in the sauna during both night and morning. The staff provided attentive service from check-in to check-out, making our stay worry-free. Communication via iPad was smooth, and it was reassuring that face-to-face assistance was readily available when needed. The kitchen and dining area for self-catering were convenient, with an easy-to-use built-in IH stove. We bought ingredients from a nearby supermarket and enjoyed cooking together as six people; hot pot dishes would also be great during winter. In the garden, we gathered around a campfire and enjoyed handheld fireworks—a unique experience that added an extraordinary touch even for adults. The nights were quiet; listening to insects chirping or birds singing allowed us to sleep deeply—a memorable aspect of our stay. The beds and futons were fluffy and extremely comfortable, ensuring proper rest so we could wake up feeling refreshed in the morning. All my friends unanimously said they wanted to come back again—and I feel exactly the same way! I’d love to revisit during another season or try staying at other accommodations within this trusted group in future visits.

    Enjoy music in a pea...

Enjoy music in a peaceful environment and relax. There were some noticeable insect remains, which made me wonder about the inspection, but it might be unavoidable due to the location. The Room itself had an open atmosphere with almost no doors or partitions on both the first and second floors. The amenities provided are gentle on the skin and suitable for everyone regardless of gender. The staff was very kind and shared information about nearby activities, specialties, and delicious restaurants (we tried the curry udon shop in Ikaho Onsen town!). Meals at the Accommodation were delightful for both breakfast and dinner. This Accommodation is enjoyable for all generations across various seasons!

We went on a family trip.

We stayed as a family of seven (including two grandchildren). It was quiet, the air was fresh, and we had a peaceful time. It's enjoyable even with children! With our 6-year-old and 4-month-old grandchildren, I thought it might be even more fun once the younger one starts crawling. Highly recommended for large families. The meals were visually appealing and delicious. As we are a family with big appetites, the portions felt slightly small for us. Since there isn’t always a manager on-site, there were some concerns such as missing supplies, insufficient explanations, or difficulty in contacting someone during minor issues. However, the spacious bath with its soothing hinoki aroma was wonderful! The sauna is also highly recommended! Unfortunately, the bathtub height made it difficult for children and elderly members to get in easily. If improvements could be made to address this issue and enhance accessibility around the bath area, I would love to plan another trip here as a gift for my parents in their 80s. Overall, it's an amazing place to forget about work, breathe fresh air, and enjoy relaxing moments!

A Unique Experience: Stay in a Cultural Heritage Warehouse

I have always enjoyed staying in traditional storehouse accommodations and have stayed in three so far, but this one truly stood out with its excellent acoustics and movie experience that made the most of the storehouse's charm. It has become my favorite accommodation. Highly recommended for couples or families.

Impressed by the historical charm of the accommodation

I stayed at Seihou Sansou Okuya, located on the slopes of Mount Akagi. Passing through the large gate, I was greeted by lush green trees and beautiful cherry blossoms dancing in the wind during the season. Beyond the inner gate and a spacious garden stood the accommodation building. Inside, I was surprised by its modern interior design, which contrasted with its exterior appearance! The first floor featured a dining area and kitchen, along with a stone-built bath that was more spacious than it looked—perfect for relaxing. On the second floor, there was a living room with a large screen where my family had an amazing time together. There was also a refurbished record player made from antique furniture, complete with records to enjoy on-site. Next time, I’d love to bring my own records to play! The expansive garden offered daytime strolls and nighttime enjoyment of stargazing and city views while sitting around a campfire. Additionally, the staff welcomed us warmly with smiles and shared stories about the facility's history. As fans of traditional culture, this added even more charm to our stay. Although it wasn’t included in our plan this time, there was also a tent sauna available—something we’re looking forward to trying next time! This is definitely an accommodation worth revisiting and highly recommended for families!

A modern accommodation with a sense of history, perfect for a relaxing family stay.

We stayed at Akagi Accommodation's Shitsuko with our family (couple + 1-year-old child). The historical building had an impressive and majestic gate that left us in awe. Upon entering the premises, the staff immediately greeted us and guided us to Shitsuko. Although the building is old, it has been renovated inside. The second floor had a bedroom, a low sofa, and a projector, allowing our son to play safely. (He was delighted watching Anpanman on the big screen!) The ceiling featured large exposed beams that seemed to have been there for ages, giving off a sense of history that captivated us. On the first day after check-in, we drove about 10 minutes to "Michi-no-Eki Green Flower Farm." It had vast lawns where we could relax under good weather conditions. On the second day, we visited "Michi-no-Eki Maebashi Akagi" (which was absolutely amazing!). There were playground equipment for children as well as fresh vegetable markets and fish shops in this new facility—both adults and kids enjoyed it thoroughly! Our child fell fast asleep in the car on our way back home. For dinner, we had shabu-shabu with tender and delicious meat! Cleaning up was easy too; all we needed to do was place used dishes into a provided box. Breakfast consisted of steamed dishes served in bamboo steamers—perfect for families like ours since we could eat at our own pace without worrying about others around us. However, there wasn’t detailed information about dinner during reservation; while adults loved ending with soba noodles as part of dinner service—it wasn’t suitable for children who couldn’t eat them yet. It would have been helpful if meal details were available beforehand on their website. Our child went to bed early so unfortunately missed out on enjoying the prepared bonfire experience—but next time around—we’d love some chill time by its warmth! Thank you very much!

This was the best experience ever.

We stayed as three generations of a family. The garden was spacious, and the atmosphere of the room was excellent. For dinner, we enjoyed sukiyaki. Not only was the sukiyaki delicious, but the white rice cooked in an earthen pot was also incredibly tasty. Dessert included fruits and ice cream, leaving us completely satisfied. On the second floor, there was a projector installed, allowing us to relax and watch movies at our leisure. The beds were fluffy and comfortable for a good night's sleep. Breakfast featured steamed rice in a bamboo steamer, making for a luxurious start to the day. With check-out at 11:00 AM, we could take our time without feeling rushed. We would love to stay here again!

The Kura is a stylish building made with reclaimed wood, offering a picturesque space.

I stayed at Okura! The space was delightful, with everything made from reclaimed wood, including the kitchen, table, bed, and record table. It was so charming and enjoyable just to look around. This accommodation is themed around "immersing in sound," featuring records and a projector with a large screen. I spent time listening to records and watching movies—it felt like there wasn’t enough time to enjoy it all! In the morning, opening the second-floor window let in beautiful sunlight, creating such a pleasant moment. The staff showed me plans for an upcoming sauna addition. The idea of relaxing in a sauna surrounded by nature sounds absolutely amazing—I can’t wait to come back! Seihou Sansou has three buildings: the main building and two storehouses (Kura). Renting out all three for family or friends seems like a great idea too. I’ll definitely visit again during another season. Thank you very much!

I visited when the autumn leaves in the garden were beautiful. The mansion was very spacious, and having our own space was very relaxing. The facilities were well-equipped, we enjoyed roasting buns over a bonfire, watching movies by connecting a projector to our iPhone (personal item), opening the windows to feel like an open-air bath, self-löyly, outdoor air bath with a sauna poncho, and having breakfast while listening to records, making the most of the time without a TV. Thank you for the delicious food and heartwarming hospitality.

I was able to spend a relaxing time.

I used this place to celebrate my mother's birthday. The exterior had a charming atmosphere, and the retro furnishings allowed us to enjoy a very relaxing time. The shabu-shabu served for the meal was presented in a pot that created a different atmosphere from usual, making it very enjoyable! The staff who served us were very pleasant, allowing us to have a wonderful time.

    Hotel Digger

A mansion located on a vast estate.

This stay was truly an experience of extraordinary relaxation. The most impressive feature was the hinoki bath. The spacious bathroom had no sense of confinement, allowing us to enjoy a luxurious moment of healing for both body and mind, surrounded by the natural aroma. Each time we soaked in the water, the scent of hinoki spread, enhancing the soothing effect. I loved the bathroom floor, which felt like tatami(?). Additionally, there was an atmosphere of a traditional Japanese house where you could feel the warmth of wood that is not usually experienced. Not only the bath but other facilities were also spacious, making it an ideal place to spend a leisurely time. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I felt like visiting again.

    A wonderful Japanese-style space

It's like the mansion of a former prime minister you see in movies. The room and garden were quite spacious and luxurious, which surprised me. I had a valuable experience different from staying at a hotel.
