    Everything felt extraordinary!

    A calm building nestled in the countryside, a gentle garden of mixed trees, tall windows, and spacious guest rooms and baths enhanced by indirect lighting—everything felt like an escape from everyday life. It’s a quiet place where adults can truly relax at ease. For our first unmanned check-in, it went smoothly after we entered the required information in advance using the email sent shortly before arrival. We made a Reservation for the breakfast bread set. After check-in, it was neatly placed in the refrigerator. The long-established roast beef was convincingly delicious! The bread was excellent too—and when we wondered where it was from, we found out it came from a famous bakery. That attention to detail really showed their commitment to quality.

    Spacious, spotless, and simply the best!

    This was our first time staying here. The cooking utensils and cutlery were more fully stocked than we expected, so we chose a no-meals Plan. It was great that we could shop at a nearby supermarket and cook by simply buying the ingredients we needed. The Facility offerings were also excellent, including the sauna, bath, and projector, and we had a wonderful time. We would love to stay again.

    Pet-Friendly Room

    As with other Rakuten STAY properties, the Room was spacious enough, and this Facility likely offers a beautiful view of greenery from any Room, making it feel open and refreshing. Perhaps due to the open layout connected to the kitchen, it was unavoidable, but overall it wasn’t perfectly spotless and shiny. I was concerned about a sharp urine smell that stung my nose.

    The Facility is excellent.

    As it’s a villa, it felt like staying in my ideal detached house with a beautiful garden. The sauna and the Onsen were amazing, and the high-quality speaker made Netflix even more enjoyable. I have no complaints about the Facility. If I may offer some feedback, the meals prepared in the refrigerator all felt somewhat incomplete. The meat quality and freshness were probably good, but with only one type of sauce and no seasonings provided, there was no flexibility to adjust the flavor, so I honestly couldn’t enjoy it. The breakfast sandwiches were similar—no sauce and rather bland as well.

    Stay-in Holiday

    Staying at a ryokan with onsen and enjoying meals is delightful, but recently I’ve fallen in love with this style of accommodation. Without meeting anyone or worrying about others, you can take a bath whenever you like, eat whatever you want whenever you want, and enjoy warm rooms while watching movies with friends or family—or simply spend time doing your own thing. This completely private and free time feels like priceless luxury. The room was spacious and stylishly designed, equipped with warm air conditioning and floor heating. The bath was large, and even though it’s an onsen, I loved that I could adjust the temperature to my liking. There was also a small sauna that reached sufficient temperatures for a truly relaxing experience. If I had to point out minor drawbacks, the dining chairs and living room sofa were slightly uncomfortable to sit on, and Netflix couldn’t be accessed via the projector. Overall, it was an incredibly satisfying stay—a wonderful holiday that makes me want to return again for sure!

    New and clean, great building, but everything else is...

    Stayed for one night with one dog and three family members, including two meals. The building is new, spacious, and the surrounding atmosphere is excellent. However, beyond that, it felt lacking. There were no staff present at all; we only had a brief online interaction during check-in. Meals consisted of ingredients provided for self-cooking (both dinner and breakfast), and cleanup was required (though optional, leaving dishes in the sink felt uncomfortable). Amenities were minimal, with fewer items available for dogs compared to other accommodations. While the price is cheaper than places like Regina when considering pet-friendly options, the quality of meals makes it unlikely we'd stay again. That said, the private sauna in the room was fantastic!

    Stink bug

    I stayed here to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. When I closed the curtains, I found three 2cm-sized brown stink bugs (possibly brown marmorated stink bugs) on them. Over time, their number increased to eight. While I understand that insects can be present due to the location, this was beyond acceptable limits. Starting around 7 PM, likely because they are nocturnal, they began flying around the lights. After battling with insect spray for three hours, we were exhausted and moved to a vacant separate building around 10 PM. Although the site is unmanned, there is a 24-hour video call service available for assistance, which was handled smoothly and provided some reassurance. The room we moved into also had two bugs but after dealing with them using insect spray and not encountering any more later on, we were finally able to relax. The facilities and meals were excellent; however, as a travel memory overall it deserves only one star—very disappointing. While I understand that insects may be unavoidable due to the location (especially since these are large visible bugs), more thorough inspections would be appreciated in such cases. This was my first time staying at a villa; perhaps hotels or ryokans might suit me better?

    I stayed here for a ...

    I stayed here for a sightseeing trip around Nikko. The initial impression of the atmosphere was very good, and having access to a sauna was a plus. However, as this is a pet-friendly accommodation, the animal smell was noticeable right after entering the room. The floor also had visible scratches. Since the windows face east, the room remained dim throughout the day, which might not appeal to everyone. While the numerous advertisements for Rakuten services can be overlooked, the microwave was unusable due to a part replacement error, which made me feel that maintenance could be improved.

    A spacious and relaxing Room.

    I was drawn to the private sauna and made a last-minute reservation. The chilled water bath was very cold and perfect after the sauna. The sauna temperature was just right, and even though I turned on the switch upon arriving in the room, it heated up surprisingly quickly. Unfortunately, it’s extremely small, so it might only accommodate two people at most. Despite its size, I enjoyed the löyly experience. One downside is that there’s no barrier between the onsen bath and water bath; when water overflows from one side, it mixes with the other—making either lukewarm. It would be better if there were a partition in between. The room had two toilets and a separate shower room, so even if you’re with friends who prefer privacy while changing or bathing, there shouldn’t be much concern. The room itself is spacious with an open feel—a lovely space to relax in. The mattress on the bed was also excellent for a good night’s sleep. Although I couldn’t add meals due to my last-minute booking, there were cooking utensils available in the kitchen along with new dishwashing sponges—showing thoughtful attention to detail for this type of accommodation. These small touches made me want to return soon with friends. Since there are no large public baths here, I’d recommend this place primarily for families or same-gender groups. One unsettling experience occurred at 6:00 AM when someone suddenly rattled our door handle and knocked loudly for about three minutes without responding when we called out “Who’s there?” It eventually stopped but left us feeling uneasy as this Hotel has no front desk staff to address such issues.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    The single-story layout was spacious. It felt larger compared to the Facility we used in Nasu last year. Our 1-year-old grandchild happily ran around. The bath was spacious, and the sauna was authentic. The Facility was comfortable without any issues. We chose a Japanese breakfast included Plan, expecting restaurant-quality dishes, but were disappointed as only ingredients were provided instead of pre-cooked meals. The portion size was also small, making us wish we had chosen a Western-style meal instead. While the meals were disappointing, everything else was satisfying.

    First Stay with Your Beloved Dog and Children

    It was a last-minute stay as we found an available room just before. It was our first accommodation with our dog, but everything went smoothly, and we were very satisfied. This time, we chose a plan without meals, so next time we'd like to try staying with meals included. The onsen bath and sauna were excellent. Our young daughter loved the bath so much that she went in multiple times. We brought our own pet diapers. The pet sheets, wet wipes, and waste bags provided in the room were more than sufficient.

    Highly satisfied

    The Facility was new, clean, and very pleasant. The planetarium and projector were enjoyable for spending the evening. For dinner, we chose sukiyaki, and the amount of meat exceeded our expectations. The meat was very delicious, which made us happy. For breakfast, we opted for a Western-style meal; the bread and roast beef were delightful. The bath was spacious and allowed for a relaxing experience.

    Family Trip

    The Room was spacious with high ceilings, allowing for a comfortable stay. The kitchen Facility was well-equipped, and both the bath and sauna were enjoyed by everyone. The interior was also clean. Although the projector only supported YouTube, it was still entertaining. It would have been nice to have amenities like razors and brushes available. Being able to purchase drinks at a nearby supermarket and store them in the refrigerator was convenient. The breakfast (Western-style) included delicious bread and roast beef. Next time, I hope to bring my dog along!

    We had an unexpectedly comfortable stay at the Accommodation.

    Because Nikko is relatively close, our trips have usually been day trips. This time, we planned a hike with our grandchild from Lake Yunoko to Akayu, so we looked for a good Hotel and came across “Stay Villa Nikko,” which caught our eye—so we made a Reservation right away. It was also eligible for a last-minute discount, so we were lucky to stay at a great price. The building is a two-story maisonette-style unit with a 2LDK layout, and every area felt spacious and comfortable. There wasn’t much information available from reviews on IKYU, so we brought various small items with us, but most of them weren’t necessary—we only ended up using seasonings plus salad oil and olive oil. There is Wi-Fi, and you can watch YouTube and subscription services on the TV. The bath is an Onsen where you can relax, and you can also enjoy showering under the large shower head. There was also a sauna, but it was small and low-temperature, so we didn’t use it. Because it’s a detached-style Facility, there’s no noise from neighboring Rooms, and we were very satisfied to have such an open space to enjoy freely. Also, there’s a cake shop across the road from the Facility; we had dessert after dinner and it was delicious. Next time, I’d like to try another Stay Villa as well.

    The perfect villa for everyone.

    The spaciousness, cleanliness, facilities, amenities, and especially the unlimited access to the onsen and sauna were excellent. We didn’t include meals in our stay but cooked using the open range, IH cooking heater, frying pan, plates, tongs, and other utensils provided. We brought our own seasonings after reading reviews mentioning their absence—this is essential. For guests with dogs: please note that the flooring is very slippery. There’s a small dog run with artificial turf that doesn’t drain well; this might be challenging for smaller dogs. The food bowl was a stylish deep green color but too deep for our dog to see its contents properly. There was an outdoor faucet for washing paws; however, it wasn’t functional during our stay. If this is intended as a pet-friendly facility, we would recommend non-slip flooring at least in the dog-friendly areas. Is this also the case at other Rakuten Stay locations?

    Unexpectedly

    The power breaker suddenly tripped late at night, causing all electrical equipment in the Room to stop. We sincerely hope this will never happen again.

    BBQ smell in the Room

    Stayed here with our dog after a great experience at Rakuten Villa by Lake Ashi. The facilities, including the sauna and bath, were excellent. However, upon entering the room, there was a strong BBQ smell lingering. Although guests are instructed to do BBQs on the terrace, it seemed like the previous guest might have done it inside the room... Spending time in a room with such a strong odor during our stay was unpleasant. Even with an air purifier, ventilation fan, and air conditioning running at full capacity, the smell did not go away. I believe some measures should be taken during cleaning to address this issue. We made sure to close our room door and enjoyed BBQ on the terrace!

    - The facility seems to be highly efficient in various aspects. I was surprised at how much labor costs were reduced, as it was my first time experiencing such a facility. - Unable to change meals after the Reservation. No response even after sending an email. - No green tea provided, not even in vending machines, and no convenience store nearby. - No sleepwear provided. - There is a bus stop nearby, but buses are infrequent, so please take note. - Breakfast was delicious. - Overall satisfied; however, I felt that if any issues arise, it might be difficult to resolve due to staff being unavailable or difficulty reaching them by phone.

    The bath is excellent.

    The room was new, clean, and very comfortable. There is also a clean dog run for your beloved pet. I especially loved the bath with Onsen water. It was spacious and even had a sauna, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It would have been perfect if the checkout time was 11:00 AM... haha! I won't comment on the meals; it was a bit disappointing compared to how delicious the food at Atami's Rakuten Stay was. For those staying with the same Plan as us, I recommend bringing your own seasonings.

    It was comfortable!

    We stayed as two families, and with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two toilets, it was very comfortable. It was a bit chilly to use the terrace, but we enjoyed meals together in the spacious living room. There’s a supermarket nearby, and if you go further to Imaichi, you’ll find great butcher shops and roadside stations. Not being able to park directly next to the property can be inconvenient on rainy days, but overall, it’s highly recommended!

    It was excellent.

    We stayed here for our first trip with our beloved dog. The Facility was new, and the garden attached to the Room was very helpful in maintaining our dog's usual daily routine. It would be perfect if there were a dog run for guests. We will definitely use this place again.

    Worth the visit

    The atmosphere was very calm and pleasant. It was a cold day, but when I entered the room, the heating was already on, seemingly adjusted to match the check-in time, which showed great attention to detail. It would have been nice if there was a list introducing the items and amenities used. I would definitely like to stay at this accommodation again.

    There is no Room wear.

    Please note that there are no Room wear provided! I stayed during the middle of winter for a 1-night, 2-day trip with minimal luggage, but since there was no Room wear, I had to sleep in my regular clothes (sweat). I even ended up sleeping in denim pants. I would appreciate it if the absence of Room wear could be clearly and prominently stated. Additionally, the call center was difficult to reach. I was told they would call me back, but the return call did not come promptly, and when it finally did, it was long after I had forgotten about it. Since I missed the call, I had to contact the call center again, and the process started from scratch with the navigation dial, which took a lot of time. Furthermore, the PIN code for the key that was sent via email was incorrect. I had to wait for a long time in sub-zero temperatures with snow falling, which was very difficult. Even then, I could not get through to the call center. I sincerely hope these issues will be improved immediately. The Room was spacious and lovely, but the service was disappointing.
