It was a very clean, well-equipped Facility.

We traveled from Saitama and were surprised by how much hotter it was than expected. The Facility was very comfortable, and we also used the EV station. Since it was unexpectedly hot, we felt it might be a bit tough as a summer retreat for a long stay.

Various odors are noticeable and may be bothersome.

I stayed with my pet. The Facility was very nice, but there were not many amenities, and there were no pajamas provided. You cannot watch Netflix, etc. unless you have your own account. The sofa has a slight odor. The beds and bath are very nice as well, but the smell was noticeable. Since pets are allowed, I expected it to some extent, but the odor was strong and I did not use the bed on the first floor. It’s disappointing because the Facility itself is so good.

    Comfortable

I noticed an unpleasant odor in the bathroom and sauna, but otherwise my stay was comfortable. The good value was appealing, but the holiday rate felt a bit high for No Meals Included.

    It was a new, well-e...

It was a new, well-equipped Room! I accidentally made a Reservation for a Plan without meals, and when I realized later and asked about it, I was told to Cancel the Reservation once and rebook. Since the price would change as well (I booked when it was cheaper), I gave up this time and stayed without meals. Things I noticed about this Accommodation: 1) While looking for the Accommodation, the sign was hard to spot and I drove past it. 2) We were on the first floor, but the noise from people walking around upstairs was loud and a bit irritating. 3) We had a first-floor Room with a garden, but I wanted to let my dog play outside; however, the weeds were overgrown so we couldn’t use the garden. Those are probably the main downsides? Also, since the Room is decorated mostly in black tones overall, it felt dark even with the lights on. There were coffee capsules provided, but only four—having a few more would have been nice! It seemed like a very popular Accommodation, and the parking lot was full. When we weren’t sure where to park, it turned out someone who wasn’t staying there had parked; they left, so we were able to park before long. That’s all. Next time we go, I’d like to spend one day having a barbecue on the terrace.

    Very affordable

It was spacious and comfortable. The artificial Onsen felt like a proper Onsen. It might be a good option for a Multiple Night Stay. This time, I came to Nasu to dine at a certain restaurant, and even though it was No Meals Included, I was surprised at how affordable it was. I’d like to try other Room types as well.

    Overall, I was satisfied.

This was my first time using Rakuten STAY, and the check-in process was simple with no hassle, which made me feel at ease. The Room was very clean, and the bath was spacious—I was very satisfied. However, one thing I would mention is that we stayed on the second floor and could feel vibrations even when others were just walking normally. If we could feel it on the second floor, I worried that guests staying on the first floor might find the noise quite noticeable. I’m not sure whether it’s due to the flooring structure or an issue with the flooring itself, but since this type of Accommodation seems to target families, I think improvements may be needed. Other than that, I was satisfied with the Facility and overall stay. I’d like to stay again if I have another opportunity.

A Hotel prepared with a surprising approach

We stayed for two nights, but the Room changed, so I’ll start with the first one. Night 1: D203. The decorative fireplace was broken and did not turn red even when switched on. (Why isn’t it fixed immediately?) Worse, it seemed to turn on by itself even after switching it off, and smoke kept coming out, which was very troubling. We made a Reservation for five people via IKYU, but when we arrived there were only four beds. We had no choice but for my sister and me to share one bed, which was extremely cramped for two adults. There is a switch next to the air conditioner with a similar shape, but we had no idea what it was—no instructions at all. After entering the Room, we were told to complete guest registration on our phones. When we followed the steps, it asked us to take a face photo for verification, but no matter how many times we tried it would not proceed. A useless app. Then we reported via the in-room contact PC that we couldn’t get past the photo step, and they replied: “Your registration is already complete, so it’s fine.” Then why require a photo in the first place? The Room was dark. There was coffee, but no tea or black tea. Day 2: D106. Because of a broken lock, we had to unlock the door with an old-style physical key. (Seriously—please fix things promptly when they break.) This time there were two beds and two futons as bedding provided. Confused by this setup, I asked about it. The staff explained that “two people are expected to use each bed and each futon,” meaning up to eight people could sleep there. I was shocked by this explanation. I previously stayed at your Nikko property as well, and there were proper beds for the number of guests—which is normal and expected. But here in Nasu you are essentially telling guests that two people should share one bed or one futon each time—even adults who are not family members (coworkers or friends), possibly mixed-gender groups as well? That is completely unrealistic; most people are not close enough to share a bed like that with others outside their family. Who came up with such an absurd idea? A futon is nowhere near wide enough for two adult men either—it’s simply impossible in practice. When I raised this concern, I received only: “Please understand.” No—I cannot accept that explanation at all. This isn’t about small children sharing with an adult; this is about two adults sharing one sleeping space per person count policy-wise or operationally stated like this. This needs improvement. I tried turning on the unknown switch next to the air conditioner; after a while the floor became warm—apparently it controls floor heating. Please provide clear instructions/signage since this is an unmanned Accommodation. Also please provide basic seasonings and at least minimal cooking oil. The French toast breakfast tasted good if you took time to cook it properly; however there were no eggs provided beyond that set item itself (and no meat or vegetables). It felt like whoever designed this Plan assumes everyone lives like that every day—coming on a trip only to eat poorer than at home feels disappointing."""

    Rakuten STAY VILLA Nasu

Based on the Reviews before my stay, I was worried about odors in the Room (urine or animal smells), but there was no smell at all. The food was normally tasty (chicken, beef, and pork BBQ; French toast for breakfast). However, the non-stick coating on the provided hot plate was peeling. Also, there are no seasonings in the Room, so don’t forget to bring some! Other than that, there were no issues at all, and I’d like to stay again. It would be even better if there were fewer weeds in the garden.

Please take extra care when staying during the severe winter season.

I have stayed at Accommodations across the whole country in a wide range of price points, but this was the first time I experienced service that was this inconvenient, unpleasant, and insincere—so I am writing it here. I truly cannot recommend staying here in winter. *We stayed with friends for 2 nights, booking 2 Rooms.* - On the day of check-in, when we entered the Room we were supposed to stay in, cleaning had not been completed: used pots and dishes were left in the kitchen, and part of the dressing-room floor had been removed and could not be used. Even after contacting customer support, communication in Japanese was extremely difficult; we were made to go back and forth repeatedly in the cold until we finally found a cleaning staff member and managed to change Rooms. However, even then their response kept changing—they told us they had moved us to a larger Room, but 10 minutes later they guided us again to a Room with the same layout as before. - From evening onward, running water became unavailable intermittently. We had to contact customer support many times again. The Hotel explained it as “freezing,” but water would only work for about 10 minutes each hour on a regular cycle—even late at night—making it feel less like simple freezing and more like something intentional (such as trying to save on water costs). As a result, both Rooms were forced into disaster/camping-style measures: storing bathwater to flush the toilet; wiping cookware with paper before washing after cooking; etc. - In addition, when we raised these complaints at checkout, they offered an apology/compensation. However, despite having provided both our email address and mobile number, we received no follow-up at all—and two months have now passed. It is obvious they intended to let things fade away as if nothing happened, which is extremely unpleasant.

Even considering the cold wave, it is concerning for an Accommodation that the water has stopped running since the evening.

    Trip to Nasu

The weather was great, and the facility was very clean and pleasant. Despite being pet-friendly, there was no smell from previous guests' pets, making it comfortable.

    Great sauna, light meals.

We stayed with one toddler, two adults, and one dog. At first, we were unsure where to check in as a group of what seemed like university students surrounded the tablet in the lobby. We waited until they left and then proceeded to check in. The process required inputting the names and addresses of all guests and a video call with an operator, which made it more tedious than expected. The room was spacious and clean. It had a single-person sauna that we used multiple times. Plenty of towels (two per person) were provided, so we could enjoy the bath without reusing wet towels. There was also a washing machine with detergent available; however, those who need fabric softener should bring their own. Dog walking was only allowed on the balcony. Initially unaware of this rule, we mistakenly walked our dog within the premises. Outdoor sandals for walking are only placed on the balcony side. For meals, dinner included a BBQ set served in stacked boxes while breakfast consisted of bread stored in cases inside the refrigerator. The only seasoning provided for BBQ was yakiniku sauce from Tochigi beef cuts labeled by part—delicious but clearly insufficient in quantity. We bought additional meat at a nearby supermarket to make it just right for us. Breakfast felt sparse as well—only four small pastries per person—so we supplemented it with salad, yogurt, eggs purchased from the supermarket. While fresh groceries can be bought at supermarkets nearby, having vending machines selling snacks or instant noodles at places like lobbies would be convenient for late-night cravings. Lastly, there wasn’t a humidifier in the bedroom which caused dry throats during sleep; providing one during dry seasons would be greatly appreciated. Despite these suggestions and observations noted above overall satisfaction remained high regarding this accommodation!

The air conditioner in the bedroom is very noisy.

All facilities and services were excellent, but the air conditioner in the bedroom was very noisy, making it difficult to sleep. Additionally, there was an inexplicable smell inside the room and outside the building at night, which was a bit concerning. I would appreciate it if these issues could be improved.

Stayed with 2 people and 2 small dogs.

I stayed on the first floor of an apartment-type accommodation, and it was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The bath had a larger bathtub, and even though it was an artificial onsen, it provided warmth and relaxation comparable to a natural onsen. Although we chose a plan without meals, there were restaurants offering takeout and supermarkets along the way to the accommodation, allowing us to enjoy selecting our own meals. While we used hotels or ryokans for trips with our dog in the past, we've come to appreciate the freedom of vacation rental-style accommodations over the past year or two. We plan to try other facilities by Rakuten Stay in the future.

    I love villas.

We stayed at a pet-friendly villa with our family of four and two small dogs. The interior was clean, spacious enough, and equipped with large beds, cooking utensils, and tableware. For dinner, we enjoyed BBQ (prepared in the refrigerator) at our preferred timing using a hot plate. Since we like having rice with BBQ, we brought pre-cooked rice packs with us. Breakfast included French toast (prepared in the refrigerator), which we toasted and paired with smoothies. There is a nearby 7-Eleven where we could conveniently get salad, snacks, alcohol, desserts, etc., which was very helpful. We also enjoyed the sauna, bath, terrace, and garden. The quiet environment made our dogs feel relaxed as they walked or ran around indoors happily. It was an excellent experience overall!

    One location only...

The location, building atmosphere, room size, and cleanliness of the bathroom and utensils were truly satisfying!! However, the area under the washing machine seemed to have not been cleaned for a long time, as there was a strong sewage smell around the entrance and washing machine. Although Febreze was provided and I used it, the odor was too strong to mask. I had to immediately close the bedroom door upon arrival to prevent the smell from spreading. Also, it seems that only users of Building A can use the ping-pong table.

    First-time use

We visit Nasu every year as a family. This year, since the accommodation we usually stayed at closed down, we made a reservation at this accommodation for the first time. We stayed on the first floor of a two-story apartment-type room. Check-in was easy as we had pre-registered as guests. When we opened the entrance door, there was a slight animal-like smell (even though it was a pet-free room), but it became unnoticeable after some time. We used an 8-person room with just 4 people, so it felt very spacious; however, if staying with 8 friends or so, you would need to share double beds or futons with two people each, which might be uncomfortable for some. The cleanliness of the room and amenities were excellent. Regarding noise, footsteps echoed quite loudly—if we were on the second floor ourselves, we'd have to be careful about that. Overall, I think it's a good accommodation. As for requests: since I wanted to enjoy breakfast leisurely, it would have been nice if check-out could be chosen at 10:30 or 11:00 instead of earlier times. Thank you for your hospitality!

This property features a stylish black exterior. However, some wear and tear is noticeable inside, including a hole in the bathroom wall. While certain unique amenities were enjoyable to use, there was an odor from the bathroom drain. The dining experience could be improved.

The soundproofing was excellent, and the room was very clean!! We had a great time on our trip! The dishes looked clean but felt sticky when held. We recommend washing them yourself before use. As mentioned in other reviews, there were quite a few insects around, but none were found in the room! There is an artificial onsen with a sufficiently large bathtub, and the air conditioning in the new-looking room worked well, making it very comfortable to stay! I am considering staying at another Rakuten Stay Villa next time!

The TV and toilet lock were broken, and while we were able to stay at a reduced rate due to same-day notice, it was disappointing that no replacements or alternatives were provided during our 3-night stay. However, the cooking utensils, washing machine, and the room's dog run were convenient and enjoyable.

    Non-face-to-face service

This was my first time staying at a non-face-to-face accommodation. There were no major issues, and the bathroom was luxurious, making it seem like a comfortable stay for my family. However, despite the luxurious interior design, the soundproofing was insufficient, and I was troubled by noise. The bed was placed in the middle of the living room, and I could hear appliance noises. Additionally, a young group in the neighboring room made loud noises late into the night, leaving me unable to sleep properly. Since there were no on-site staff members available, I emailed customer service several times during the night. At around 10:30 AM in the morning, I received a call saying: "As per your request, you may use your room until 12 PM." Check-out is at 10 AM though? Looking at their system should have shown that we had already checked out by then. By that time we were already driving for several minutes away from there. Of course, those who caused disturbances are to blame; however as management representatives this response felt far from sincere or professional to me. Afterward stayed again with our usual hotel where warmth & hospitality stood out clearly! I doubt will ever return here again!

    We had a great time.

The space was neither too large nor too small, with a slightly spacious and comfortable bathroom and bedroom. However, the rail around the door of the first-floor toilet was loose and seemed to be breaking, causing the door to come off and making it impossible to lock at times. It would have been nice to have a hanger rack and luggage stand in the bedroom. There was a slight odor initially, but it became unnoticeable after using an air purifier—having one already running would have been appreciated. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay and would love to visit again.

    Good facility, poor service

Unable to access the parking lot due to cars parked on the road in front of the cottage, with no staff available for assistance. Prior inquiry confirmed that barbecue facilities were available, but upon arrival, a notice stated barbecues were not allowed. When questioned, it was explained that using a hot plate was considered acceptable. However, the hot plate provided was broken and unusable. Upon further inquiry, guests were instructed to retrieve one themselves from an empty room in another building approximately 100 meters away. While the Facility itself is new and well-maintained, this experience makes it unlikely we would return.

    There was a roof leak.

The room with the projector had a severe leak and couldn't be used, which was disappointing as I was looking forward to it. The bath had dried white Onsen residue, and when filled with water, something resembling animal hair floated in it, indicating insufficient cleaning. There was a general lived-in smell throughout the place. The BBQ ingredients were of average taste. Other than that, the atmosphere was open and enjoyable!

    Enjoyed the Plan Without Dinner

I stayed in a pet-friendly room for the first time. The room was very clean and well-equipped with plenty of cooking utensils and tableware. We bought ingredients at the nearby Daiyu Supermarket (open until 9 PM), cooked rice, and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Please note that you need to bring your own seasonings. There is also a Seven-Eleven convenience store nearby, making it a very convenient location. For breakfast, we made French toast and had it with smoothies. We also enjoyed the sauna, bath, and terrace. The quiet environment allowed our dog to relax comfortably as well. The parking lot was spacious and conveniently located close by. I would love to stay here again!

    A comfortable & clean Stays.

It was very good. The room and facility were new, clean, and excellent. The plates and kitchen equipment were also very well-equipped, and there was nothing to worry about. The refrigerator is also large, making it recommended for a multiple night stay. It's a bit expensive for no meals included, but I wish there were more places like this!! I brought my dog, and it seemed comfortable as well, lying snugly on the floor heating. Taking a photo in front of the fireplace makes the light form a heart, making it a great spot for taking pictures of your dog.
