  The building is beautiful, and the views are spectacular, but still.

  Based on IKYU’s image, I (wrongly) assumed a luxury-level service with solid management and made a Reservation, but in reality it was essentially an unmanaged “space-only” rental. It seemed IKYU only introduces the property and does not manage house rules or operations. This trip taught me that for a Vacation Rental, you need to search for reviews (Google, social media) and verify details yourself. I’ve stayed in similar “space-only” rentals on Airbnb for month-long trips before, so my first thought upon arrival was: “This feels like Airbnb—maybe not a Superhost-type place.” I usually choose only Superhost listings with strict house rules and thorough trash/cleaning management, so if you’re booking a Vacation Rental, I felt Airbnb’s system and quality control are more consistent. Good points - The building felt new - The view from the second floor is spectacular Concerns - Unable to reach the person in charge I contacted the phone number listed on IKYU in advance (a Japanese woman’s name), but received no reply. After check-in, I finally made contact using the number posted inside the building. The contact was an overseas male; communication was via LINE with English translation. When I said I could not reach the Japanese contact person (messages/calls), he said something like “She seems busy; I’ll find another person,” but no one was assigned until checkout. - No cleaning or trash collection during a 1-week stay Trash disposal must be done by guests according to local rules. Cleaning can be requested but requires an additional fee. As a result, we bought extra supplies ourselves and managed everything on our own. - Check-in started with airing out and cleaning There were dead insects collected in the bathtub, and the indoor air felt stale. - BBQ set: additional fee of JPY 5,000 A new grill net, charcoal, and grill stand were provided. However, used tongs were included. I requested new ones, but all we got was: “I’ve sent a request to the cleaning team to resolve this!” No replacement ever arrived. - Laundry Because it was outdoors and we had concerns about property management overall, we used a coin laundry instead. - Many motion sensors turning lights off + security camera at the pool While relaxing in the bath area, all lights and ventilation fans suddenly turned off repeatedly due to sensors. There is also a security camera at the pool; if something falls into the pool due to strong wind, you will be contacted. Other notes We did not use the pool or jacuzzi because they were fresh water (not heated) and it was cold in early April. Summary For our family: perfect for 1–2 nights; for longer stays we would choose somewhere else. Wishing IKYU users many wonderful trips ahead!

At the same time, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by aspects of your stay that did not meet your expectations. FUSAKI HILL is a “private villa-style” Accommodation, which differs somewhat from a typical Hotel. We value providing guests with a completely private space to enjoy with family and friends. While we offer support whenever needed, we also strive to respect each guest’s privacy as much as possible. Regarding communication during your stay: the overseas staff member responding via English translation was actually me (Chris, Manager of FUSAKI HILL). I aimed to respond quickly and courteously throughout your stay, but I apologize that there were areas where we fell short of your expectations. As for the BBQ equipment, we immediately requested action from our cleaning team, and in response to this incident we have further strengthened our post-cleaning inspection process. Regarding the jacuzzi, we plan to convert it to heated water later this year so it can be used more comfortably. During the off-season, there may be gaps of several days between stays; due to Okinawa’s natural environment, small insects may occasionally enter even after cleaning. For laundry facilities, in order to preserve both the scenery and a quiet stay environment, we provide a dedicated laundry area next door. It is designed for easy natural air-drying using sea breezes while being protected from direct sunlight and rain. In addition, our smart devices and security cameras are installed to help prevent damage caused by sudden strong winds unique to Okinawa—such as windows or parasols being left open—and ultimately to ensure guest safety.
