    Right in front of La...

    Right in front of Lake Kussharo—an unbeatable location. Rera is built diagonally in front of Fre, so you may be a bit aware of each other’s presence, and I did wonder what it would feel like if someone walked by while I was in the bath. The view from the second floor is simply stunning. The ingredients for the meals are luxurious and delicious, but unfortunately the wine selection didn’t match our taste (it would have been nice if at least the grape varieties were listed). Despite the overall great sense of style, there were some everyday-looking items like hand soap placed in the washroom, which slightly took away from the atmosphere. There was a faint damp smell on the towels, and the indoor slippers felt too ordinary—disposable ones might actually be better.

    Enjoy Eastern Hokkaido

    Stay at the Rera building, uniquely located on the shores of Lake Kussharo, Japan's largest caldera lake surrounded by nature. Enjoy a sense of exclusivity with breathtaking views of Lake Kussharo. The onsen with its red-colored water offers a feeling akin to being in an open-air bath within the lake itself when you fully open the large windows. Both the view and water quality provide unparalleled relaxation. For dinner, savor delicious local dishes made with fresh ingredients from nearby areas, prepared with great care from start to finish. The chef even provides an explanation of the starry sky after dinner for a truly satisfying experience. However, breakfast felt somewhat simple and did not meet expectations compared to the exceptional dinner. Regarding service and hospitality during your stay, it was average overall but may feel disappointing considering this price range for accommodation facilities. We hope you understand this evaluation reflects those aspects as well.

    Shuttle service is a...

    Shuttle service is available to match the train arrival time at Kawayu Onsen Station, and it takes about 10 minutes to reach the accommodation. Among the two buildings, you will stay and check in at "Fure." Meals are served in the adjacent restaurant building, where rooms are symmetrically arranged with cooking and management spaces, ensuring that guests staying on the same day do not encounter each other. Meals feature local ingredients and are satisfying in both quality and quantity. The onsen has a reddish-brown color with high temperature, likely without any heating or water added, offering excellent spring quality. From the windows, you can enjoy a close view of Lake Kussharo's surface. The staff provided warm hospitality with just the right balance for all guests. In particular, during shuttle service to and from the station, one staff member kindly accommodated our request to stop by Mt. Io on our way back and even offered to cover parking fees (though it turned out residents of the town park for free). Their thoughtful service from a guest's perspective was exceptional. Located by Lake Kussharo’s shore—a place not easily visited frequently—I would love to return again during another season someday!

    Third Stay

    Inspired by my two previous stays at Wakkanupuri, this time I stayed at Fure. The view of Lake Kussharo from the second-floor bedroom was breathtaking. Additionally, the food was exceptionally delicious as always.
