This Accommodation had noticeable issues with a lack of privacy due to neighbors and insufficient cleaning.
Although it had many 5-star reviews, staying here turned our trip into a complete failure. What I disliked most was the dust and debris piled up on everyday-use areas such as the clothes rack, vanity, speaker area, shelves, and more—it would take forever to list everything. We also found dead small insects that clearly hadn’t appeared just yesterday or today. The rice cooker was left unwashed as if the previous guests had used it and left it as-is, and the dishes were covered in grime, so we washed them ourselves before use. This is obviously a case of the cleaning staff cutting corners. It was awful. The toilet door was broken—not only could we not lock it, but it would open by itself while using the toilet, which was really scary at night. (Each time I had to hold the doorknob with my hand to keep it from opening while using the toilet; it was miserable.) The area near the teppanyaki Room smelled strongly of grease, and even the air conditioner airflow smelled greasy. It’s a shame because it was a lovely Room, but I didn’t feel like using it at all and avoided going near it. There were no curtains, so we were very concerned about being seen from the neighboring house. (People came and went quite often and we made eye contact many times…) Because of that, we spent most of our stay holed up in the bedroom next to the living room to avoid being watched. The bath was neither good nor bad. Water pressure was fine. All staff were very kind and the building atmosphere was nice, so this felt like such a waste. In conclusion, this stay ended up being extremely disappointing—honestly, I wish we hadn’t stayed here. It felt like a waste of money. I’m truly sad that this Accommodation wasn’t cleaned properly and that we ended up having to clean ourselves. It was bad enough that I felt like asking for a refund.

No Meals Included with Game Meat and Wine
Checked in after visiting nearby wineries. This time, we chose a No Meals Included plan and fully enjoyed private time for just the two of us—absolutely satisfying. We paired the wine we brought with game meat purchased from a local butcher and vegetables from a roadside market, cooking them on an iron plate. The retro-style dining area allowed us to enjoy this self-catering experience without any interruptions—it was perfect. The luxury of eating what you want, when you want it! With all the necessary cutlery provided, all you need to bring are your ingredients. Despite being a traditional Japanese house, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the bedroom was extremely comfortable. The open-air bath was also fantastic! Surrounded by quiet vineyards, it was an ideal place to unwind and relieve daily stress at our own pace. Highly recommended as a base for winery tours or exploring Yamanashi while enjoying luxurious moments tailored to your own schedule.

We recently stayed as a couple at this accommodation. This exclusive accommodation, limited to one group per day, offered a special sense of luxury. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an extraordinary atmosphere and enjoyed a truly indulgent time. This time, our stay was No Meals Included. We purchased ingredients from a nearby local supermarket and enjoyed cooking on the large iron plate provided at the accommodation. It was an experience we don’t often have, and cooking together while chatting made for wonderful memories. At check-in, the staff kindly explained everything about the accommodation in detail. After that, we had no inconveniences and spent our time comfortably. The open-air bath in the courtyard was particularly amazing; it offered completely different charms during daylight hours and when illuminated at night. Additionally, soaking in the "wine bath" made with local wine provided by the accommodation felt incredibly luxurious and allowed us to relax deeply. The wine cellar within the property was another convenient feature where guests could purchase drinks or alcohol. Being able to enjoy local wines without leaving the premises was greatly appreciated. The property is very spacious with minimal steps throughout its design. Next time, we hope to bring both sides of our family for a larger group stay! We were able to immerse ourselves in this house's history as well as experience Yamanashi’s unique Katsunuma atmosphere—truly making it an unforgettable visit. Every corner of this beautifully designed space impressed us so much that we spent over an hour taking photos after checking in! Thank you for such a memorable stay—we will definitely return again!

A wine-filled journey: Wine baths and winery tours.
I stayed at an accommodation that offers the rental of an entire traditional Japanese house. Originally the residence of a businessman, it boasts a grand and spacious interior. The facility offers various experiences, so much so that I felt there wasn’t enough time to enjoy everything. The bath was particularly memorable, featuring both an indoor bath and an open-air bath. In the open-air bath, I enjoyed a unique "wine bath" experience by adding wine—a truly special and unforgettable moment. Meals were served as a teppanyaki course, with freshly grilled dishes prepared right in front of us by the staff. They also provided Katsunuma wine, which paired perfectly with the meal for an exceptional dining experience. At night, I indulged in some luxurious relaxation on the sofa in the property's kura (traditional storehouse), enjoying more wine at my leisure. This trip's main purpose was winery hopping; however, being able to use their parking lot before check-in and after check-out was incredibly convenient. This accommodation is perfect for combining your stay with visits to local wineries!

A hidden, private accommodation in Katsunuma.
I stayed at Tsutanoie by Ruuf for a 1-night, 2-day early summer vacation. Although midsummer in Yamanashi is very hot, it was also the perfect season for fruit picking, so I decided to combine it with sightseeing around Mt. Fuji. Along the way, I bought peaches from local farms and roadside stations. Since there’s a winery within walking distance of the accommodation, I arrived early to leave my car and enjoy visiting nearby wineries and herb gardens. After returning slightly tipsy, I checked in and immediately experienced the outdoor bath that I had been looking forward to. It was as luxurious as expected! They recently introduced a wine bath filled with real red wine—an amusingly unique experience! Afterward, I spent a relaxing afternoon lying on tatami mats in true countryside style before enjoying an evening soak paired with beer while watching the sunset—pure bliss. For dinner, since there didn’t seem to be many restaurants nearby (though there were supermarkets and convenience stores), I ordered teppan BBQ. The staff prepared everything carefully for me. There were also rare wines available from their cellar (ones rarely seen in Tokyo), which inspired me to visit more wineries the next day. The night was incredibly quiet; it made me want to listen to classical music while enjoying a campfire experience—and then another soak in the bath! Before I knew it, it was late at night. The next morning came early due to excitement; after waking up quickly, I wandered around exploring nearby areas where grapes were ripening beautifully just before harvest season—it truly felt like staying at "Tsutanoie" ("House of Vines"). I then indulged in another morning bath—a truly luxurious treat! Initially torn between choosing this accommodation or a hotel, I'm glad I chose this one instead—it offered an authentic experience of living like a local in Yamanashi along with spacious rooms and baths that exceeded expectations. Nostalgic touches like traditional toys (such as menko) brought back fond memories when played on tatami mats. This hidden gem is perfect for reunions or group trips with close friends—a place you’ll want others to discover too! Looking forward to exploring other accommodations next time!

Enjoy delicious teppanyaki that you can grill yourself, paired with an excellent selection of wines—wine enthusiasts should definitely check out the wine cellar! Breakfast is served at your preferred time in the morning, so there's no need to worry about waking up early. With an 11:00 AM checkout time, you can relax and take your time before leaving. We visited as a group of four friends and appreciated having three separate bedrooms for added comfort and privacy. Don't miss the outdoor bath—it’s incredibly refreshing! The location is convenient too, with wineries, convenience stores, and supermarkets nearby—perfect as a base for sightseeing or just unwinding at your own pace. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway!

Family stay for four (children aged 3 and 5). Despite being a historic and charming traditional house seemingly geared towards adults, it offered many child-friendly features. 【Garden】 Enjoy views of the vineyard up close, observe dandelions and insects, run freely on the soft grass, and gather around a campfire at night to enjoy handheld fireworks. Staff even provided a bucket for extinguishing fireworks safely. 【Living Room & Bedroom】 The spacious tatami room is simple yet elegant with no fragile decor that children might break. The tatami absorbs noise from footsteps, making it less disruptive even when kids are active. Being a standalone house away from neighbors also provides peace of mind. Double beds or joined beds allow for Child Sharing Existing Bedding comfortably. 【Outdoor Bath】 The bath temperature can be adjusted with a switch like at home. Under the starry sky, enjoy an exclusive family bath time overlooking the illuminated stone-paved garden—a luxurious experience out of the ordinary. During hot daytime hours, children played in water while adults relaxed indoors watching them. 【Theater Room】 Located near the dining area, children who finished their meals early could head upstairs to watch animations while adults enjoyed quiet dining moments together. 【Dining Room】 A lavish Western-style dining room adorned with grape-themed decor creates an aristocratic atmosphere for meals. Baby-friendly accommodations
We stayed with our infant and had a wonderful time. The spacious tatami Room delighted our child, and we enjoyed a very pleasant experience as a family. With a winery and a large supermarket nearby, we were able to gather ingredients and enjoy teppanyaki in the luxurious Room with an iron plate without worrying about others, creating truly memorable moments. The thoughtful amenities like a microwave and baby utensils were incredibly helpful for preparing baby food. Being able to enjoy an outdoor campfire was also fantastic. The Room was very clean and spacious, featuring an open-air bath that allowed us to feel like we were staying in a luxurious mansion for a while. We would love to visit again with family or friends!

I chose this accommodation to relax and enjoy my time without worrying about others. The moment I opened the entrance, I was greeted by a nostalgic and calming atmosphere. Taking a deep breath in the tatami room, I felt completely at ease. This time, we opted for the No Meals Included Plan and brought our favorite ingredients to cook on a large iron plate, enjoying a luxurious meal together. We also enjoyed the newly renovated open-air bath, which was one of the deciding factors for our stay. The time spent gazing at the garden while soaking in the bath was truly rejuvenating and indulgent. Despite being an old-style house, the interior was surprisingly warm and very comfortable—a delightful point indeed. With three bedrooms available, I thought it would be great to come back with family or friends for a larger group stay next time. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again!

The theater room is a favorite.
The renovated traditional Japanese accommodation had a unique atmosphere with a touch of Western-style design. While retaining its Japanese charm, the Western elements made it feel like a house straight out of a movie. The theater room on the second floor was especially amazing, allowing our family to relax and enjoy Netflix together—a wonderful way to bond with the kids. There were three bedrooms, each equipped with proper beds, which was very convenient. It provided enough private space for families and seemed perfect for group trips as well. Each room had its own distinct vibe, making it fun to choose where to sleep. Overall, this accommodation offered the warmth and tranquility unique to traditional Japanese homes while being versatile for various occasions. Whether for family trips or special moments with friends, it's an ideal choice. It's so charming that we’d love to visit again in another season!
