    Excellent.

    This was my first visit to Asuka Village in decades. There used to be only small pensions, so I was surprised to find a Vacation Rental—and it was also my first time staying in a traditional old house. What drew me in most was that this Accommodation is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. When traveling with my daughter’s family (we go on trips together several times a year), we usually make Reservations for two Rooms, so I was a bit worried about six of us sharing one house with just one toilet. But once we stayed, we were amazed by how comfortable it was. At first, I wondered about security since there’s no on-site desk and check-in is done remotely, but we felt completely at ease throughout our stay. The comfort inside the house is outstanding: the spacious tatami room with floor heating and a sunken kotatsu easily fit all six of us, and there are also cozy spots like the sofa area by the earthen-floor space and even a study where you can tuck yourself away. There were plenty of tea, coffee, black tea, and more provided, and having two refrigerators—one in the living area plus another with the mini-kitchen—was very reassuring. Our middle- and elementary-school grandchildren happily helped out here and there, and we all had such a fun time together. We even played with the deck of cards that was provided. The selection of magazines and books—from guidebooks to photo collections—was excellent as well. The best part was the huge Shigaraki-ware bath tub. You sometimes see open-air baths attached to Ryokan rooms, but this felt completely different—in an amazing way. The mist sauna was wonderful too. The changing area is spacious, and what really shows thoughtful hospitality is the towel warmer—it’s truly helpful, especially for families with children. Next time I’d love to stay in winter; that large bath with the mist sauna should warm you right up when it’s cold outside. And I’m sure viewing the small courtyard garden after bathing would be incredible then as well. One drawback is that parking is at the roadside station parking lot rather than on-site itself. It’s closer than it looks on the map, and since it’s easy enough to roll suitcases along the way it wasn’t as difficult as expected—but I do hope this doesn’t inconvenience nearby residents or cause confusion for them when guests come through. It also said bicycle rentals can be arranged; if possible, having hourly rental bicycles available on-site would be very helpful too. There aren’t any restaurants nearby for dinner; since someone in our family doesn’t like chicken (so Asuka hot pot isn’t ideal), we’d appreciate having options other than Asuka nabe available as well—though we definitely want to gather around hot pot in winter if possible! I had some worries before arriving, but I’m truly glad we stayed here—it exceeded expectations by far. My family immediately asked if we could stay during New Year holidays too; unfortunately it seems you were closed last year during that period, which is disappointing—but understandable if that’s your schedule. It’s an ideal location for sightseeing around Asuka Village—this place really defines “everything thoughtfully provided.” Thank you for such wonderful memories."""

    Comfortable Space

    We enjoyed our stay while feeling the spirit of Asuka. The Asuka hot pot was delicious. The bath felt as relaxing as an Onsen. We appreciated the system that allowed us to spend our time freely without excessive service.

    Accommodation with a Sense of Ancient Romance

    A renovated traditional house by the Haseko Group, offering a comfortable stay with their expertise. Located in a place filled with ancient charm, where 1400-year-old foundation stones can be seen on the nearby road. I enjoyed exploring the area with my folding bike. The parking lot is a bit far, making luggage handling inconvenient, but it's understandable given the historical location. I chose no meal option and went to a famous Italian restaurant for dinner after making a reservation. At night, there are few dining options and it gets very dark, so bringing your own food or researching in advance is recommended.
