This is what true contentment feels like.
Ever since I discovered Shukabura on an accommodation booking site a few years ago, I had been dreaming of staying here someday. The owner couple are friendly and down-to-earth. With just the right sense of distance, they respected my privacy while offering thoughtful care that anticipated every need. Not only the beautiful hill scenery, but also their warmth is a major reason this place makes you want to “come back home” again. Every piece of villa decor was so lovely I wanted to photograph it, and finding the charming little items placed throughout felt like a treasure hunt. The compact interior had everything I needed, and as someone whose hair tends to explode in the morning, I was genuinely impressed that there were even two types of hair irons provided. The cosmetics and bath/hair care amenities also smelled wonderful—I ended up lingering in the bath longer than planned. The local ingredients prepared for breakfast were all surprisingly delicious, especially the vegetables. I couldn’t stop tasting them just to check doneness—and even bought extra vegetables at a local farmers’ market. As someone who enjoys cooking (not necessarily claiming I’m good at it), I loved making my own meals while admiring the stunning view from the living room, making time spent in the Room truly special. This trip was a solo journey for self-care made possible by warm support from those around me. During my stay there were many rainy or cloudy days and strong winds, so it might not be considered “good weather” in general. Even so, there were sights I could only experience because of these conditions: a rainbow after the rain; layered clouds drifting by; a sky changing moment by moment; wheat rippling in the wind; and white buckwheat flowers swaying gently. This stay reminded me once again that Biei’s charm isn’t limited to sunny days. This was my seventh visit to Biei. The colors of the hills, shades of the sky, shapes of clouds, and growing trees all look different each time—no matter how many times I come back over time, there is always something new that moves me. Next time, I’d love to visit Biei in midwinter—still unknown to me—and watch snowy scenery from Shukabura. Thank you very much for such a truly fulfilling stay for both body and mind.

As there are only two buildings on our spacious property—the guest Accommodation and the management building (our home)—we cannot offer overly formal service like a typical hotel. Still, we do what little we can to support your stay, hoping it helps ease your everyday fatigue and brings a fresh breeze to your heart. We are truly happy that you felt this. We also really enjoyed our drive together through the hills—our conversation was so lively that we completely lost track of time. Biei is beautiful in summer as the scenery changes with the growth of crops, but autumn, when everything turns warm colors, and pure white winter are also breathtaking beyond words. Hidden Gems of Biei
Recently, my partner and I had the opportunity to stay for two nights at Villa Skavla during our trip to Biei. Highly recommended! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stylish interior that blends modern elegance with cozy charm. Every corner of the villa is meticulously designed, making it a truly comfortable retreat. One of the highlights of our stay was the well-equipped kitchen. Cooking with fresh local ingredients was an absolute delight. We were also provided with delicious local produce for breakfast. The view from the villa is absolutely breathtaking. We were fortunate enough to witness a dramatic seasonal transition overnight—from vibrant autumn foliage to a pristine snowy landscape. The stunning morning scenery through large windows was pure bliss. The hospitality of the couple managing this villa makes it truly special. The staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. Since we couldn’t drive, they guided us through beautiful sights in town and shared local insights, making us feel completely at home. Overall, this Hotel can be described as a hidden gem. It perfectly combines style, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality. We look forward to visiting again!

A fulfilling and happy stay.

Everything was perfect.
From the picture window, enjoy the breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains of the Daisetsuzan range. The Room is equipped with high-quality appliances, furnishings, and cosmetics. Relax on the lounge chair and simply take in the scenery for a truly extraordinary experience. The breakfast service was also exceptional; even as someone who dislikes milk, I was amazed by how delicious it was! I was deeply impressed by various local foods from Biei. The owners were kind and gentle, making this trip an unforgettable one. This stay has given me motivation to work hard so I can visit again someday. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!

I really want to have a Multiple Night Stay...
I was determined to stay in winter and aimed for a date when I could make a reservation. Winter at Shukabura is magical and extraordinary, allowing me to truly relax. With a well-equipped kitchen, I made a hearty soup, dimmed the lights, lit candles, and enjoyed a luxurious evening sipping wine while admiring the view outside. The owner was kind and attentive, and I am truly grateful. I plan to visit again before spring, and if the opportunity arises, I would love to visit in summer and autumn as well.

To the Dream Villa Shukabura
I am a fan of the owner's Instagram and have always wanted to visit, and my wish finally came true! (Be sure to check it out on the Shukabura site) The view from the Stays, the scenery of Biei, was breathtaking, and in addition, the furniture, kitchenware, amenities, aprons, and pajamas were all wonderfully tasteful. Spending time cooking and eating while enjoying the scenery of Biei made me feel as if I were living in a high-sense villa in Biei. The feeling of being able to spend time as if it were my own home, unique to a whole house rental, was also present. The location is close to various hills, which are tourist spots, offering magnificent views and a sense of nature, while also being conveniently close to supermarkets and convenience stores. Before going, the owner taught me a lot about Biei, and I think it would be very reassuring for those staying alone. In the notebook at the Property where guests can write, there was someone who came for their honeymoon, and I thought it was a nice choice. It seems like it would be a perfect memory to leisurely enjoy Biei. I visited in November, and the owner told me that the contrast between the larch foliage and the green of the autumn wheat is popular among photographers at this time of year, and it was truly beautiful against the autumn sky. Next time, I would like to have a Multiple Night Stay and enjoy a secluded life in Biei.

Thank you for choosing Shukabura. When it comes to Biei and Furano, the flower fields, which are developed for tourism, tend to attract attention from June to August. However, as we have mentioned on Instagram and Shukabura's blog, Biei in autumn and winter is incredibly beautiful. Among these, early November in late autumn is a season that excites us, and we are very pleased that you were able to enjoy the scenery. Biei is a unique landscape where the vast farmland hills, cultivated with great effort by settlers from Honshu and other places during the Meiji era, harmonize with the natural backdrop of the Daisetsuzan and Tokachidake mountain ranges. The scenery changes every two weeks with the growth of crops in the fields. We hope you will visit us in another season, stay for a Multiple Night Stay next time, and take your time to fully experience Biei. Please feel free to consult us when planning your trip. Pleasant stay
We stayed here on the last night of our 5-night, 6-day trip to Hokkaido. From the reservation stage, they provided us with takeout information and responded meticulously, so it didn't feel like it was our first meeting. We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed watching the changing sky—sunset, starry night, and sunrise—over the soba fields through the large windows, and time flew by. For breakfast, we were provided with ingredients to cook ourselves, which was nice as we weren't bound by time. The local coffee, bread, milk, and other ingredients were also delicious. Thanks to the owners who love Biei, we had a very comfortable stay. We would like to visit again in a different season.
