    They were very kind and helpful.

    This was my first stay in Taga Town. I was truly impressed to find such a wonderful Accommodation in Taga. From the time I made the Reservation until just before my stay, you kindly addressed all of my concerns and questions. During my stay as well, your warm hospitality meant a lot to me. The breakfast was delicious and clearly very healthy, and the after-coffee was especially excellent. I heard that breakfast is so popular that some guests come specifically for it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some guests come just for your coffee. In the peaceful surroundings, I was able to relax and enjoy a leisurely stay. One request: the water drainage at the Tsugumi washbasin was poor, so I would appreciate it if you could check it. Other than that, I thought it was wonderful how this old and spacious traditional house has been kept so clean and well maintained. I would love to stay with you again. Thank you very much.

    A Traditional Japanese Farmhouse Experience for Parents and Children

    Staying in this precious traditional house, a Tangible Cultural Property, was a wonderful experience. It has been stylishly renovated while preserving its character. We were also given a detailed explanation of the architectural style, and we truly felt the warmth of the local community’s desire to cherish and share Japanese culture. For breakfast, a vegetable sommelier came in early to prepare a gentle, wholesome meal using local vegetables. Everything was made with such care that we were genuinely moved. This time it was just the two of us (parent and child), but as it is a spacious residence, I highly recommend it for multi-generational families or groups of friends. Because it offers an Accommodation experience different from famous Hotels, I think minor inconveniences typical of an old house—such as its age or occasional insects—are simply part of the charm and not an issue. The bath area, washbasins, toilets, and dining space have all been beautifully renovated, so we used them very comfortably. Taga Taisha Shrine is nearby, and the town is quiet and rural. We had dinner at their partner Japanese restaurant called Fujiya in front of Taga Taisha Shrine, and it was so outstanding that I would say it is worth visiting just to eat there—the food was excellent and the hospitality was warm. They mentioned they have faced difficulties since COVID-19 began, but we were able to fully enjoy their course meal filled with love for cooking. The value for money was so surprisingly good that I found myself double-checking whether it could really be correct—something you would never find in Tokyo. I also cannot forget how beautiful the proprietress was when she said, “This is Shiga hospitality.” We experienced a kind of heartfelt luxury that money can’t buy. This is actually my first time leaving such a highly rated Review. Sorry for the long message.

    Luxury Accommodation for Adults

    This is a restored traditional farmhouse of a village headman in Ichien, Taga Town, now serving as an accommodation. The staff are incredibly kind, making you feel as though everyone in Shiga must be wonderful. In the evening, we drove to shop for groceries (the staff kindly recommended a great supermarket) and enjoyed Shiga's sake and funazushi in the spacious second-floor hall. The wide-open space allowed us to relax and reconnect with friends—a truly blissful moment. Personally, I loved the breakfast the most. To be honest, after traveling extensively and encountering various "signature ingredients" from different regions, I had grown somewhat weary of them. However, this breakfast featured simple ingredients prepared with care and attention to detail—it was genuinely heartwarming. The miso soup with potatoes and carrots deeply touched my soul. In that sense, this accommodation offers an indulgence for adults—a place to savor the value of quiet moments. Hikone Castle is truly worthy of its National Treasure status—an impressive masterpiece. Taga Taisha Shrine was also magnificent and left me amazed. Next time, I hope to take more time to visit places like Nagahama Castle or Azuchi Castle ruins as well!

    It was wonderful!

    We stayed as a family of five, including my husband, mother, and three children. Although our check-in time was 4 PM, we arrived earlier than expected and called the accommodation. They kindly allowed us to check in early, which we greatly appreciated. The spaciousness of the accommodation was impressive. It had an open atmosphere with a courtyard featuring koi fish that the children enjoyed feeding. Despite being an Edo-period residence, it felt clean and well-maintained without any sense of age or wear. Since it is a private rental property, we didn’t have to worry about others around us, allowing the children to relax and enjoy themselves freely. The absence of a TV turned out to be great for them as well. For dinner, we had Biwa trout which was absolutely delicious and generously portioned—a true luxury! Breakfast featured dishes made with local ingredients from Taga; it was healthy and nourishing, leaving us very satisfied. The staff were incredibly kind and hospitable—we would love to visit again!

    Staying in the traditional Japanese house was a series of delightful experiences.

    The building dates back to the Edo period, and its intricate craftsmanship was truly impressive. The meals provided at the accommodation (dinner and breakfast) were fresh and absolutely delicious. The heartfelt hospitality of the staff member left all three of us staying together extremely satisfied. We hope to create another opportunity to visit again.
