    Shimizu

    Our family stayed in Shimizu for two nights. Needless to say, the Accommodation building itself was wonderful, but the atmosphere of the entire surrounding village was just as charming. Even before our stay, we started with a hands-on sweets-making experience using agar, and after check-out we wrapped up with a tour of Irisen’s agar factory. Our children loved agar so much that even after returning home from our trip, they’ve been enjoying making desserts every week with the dried agar we bought there. The local regional cuisine we ordered through catering was also delicious, and it was a real treat to enjoy dishes freshly prepared in the kitchen from early morning. It’s a place we’d love to visit again in another season.

    A premium and comfortable ultimate traditional Japanese farmhouse experience

    I stayed at Hanato for one night and found it so comfortable that I wished I had booked two nights. The journey from Chino Station, filled with historical insights, heightened my anticipation before arrival. Both the interior and exterior were meticulously designed, and the stunning views left me in awe throughout my stay. I ordered the dinner set, which featured dishes that truly highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients—absolutely delicious! The peaceful night ensured a great sleep, making me oversleep in the morning—it felt like morning came too soon. A minimum of two nights is definitely recommended. The hospitality during the Shuttle Service was unparalleled—thank you!

    A Special Everyday Experience at a Mountain Retreat

    This was our third stay, and this time we stayed in Shimizu. Here are the highlights of our experience: - **Building Environment** A spacious single-story accommodation of 40 tsubo (approximately 132 square meters) with a dignified, mansion-like atmosphere. Upon arrival, the children were thrilled and ran around joyfully. Located at an altitude of 1130m in a highland area, it was cool enough to need long sleeves even during summer mornings and evenings. - **Charming Space** The design allows views of the lush garden from every window—north, south, east, or west. Spending time on the veranda in the evening while listening to the "Yuyake Koyake" chime was truly special. - **Bathing Experience** While the bathtub is not made of cypress wood, both the ceiling and walls are adorned with cypress wood that fills the space with its fragrance as soon as you enter. Even our child who usually dislikes baths eagerly wanted to bathe both at night and in the morning due to its comfort. - **Facilities** Equipped with a washing machine that includes a drying function—very convenient for traveling with children. Clothes dried quickly when hung on the veranda within half a day. - **Food & Time** We sourced local ingredients from nearby supermarkets and farms and enjoyed cooking in a spacious kitchen while admiring garden views. It felt like an extension of daily life yet offered such luxurious moments during our trip. It was an excellent stay where we could relax away from busy city life and refresh ourselves completely. We would love to visit again!

    Luxury Traditional Japanese House

    I stayed at a traditional Japanese house accommodation for the first time and enjoyed unique experiences such as grinding coffee beans ourselves, cooking leisurely with pre-ordered ingredients, and using a pellet stove. The children had fun playing games on a large screen, and although there was no TV, we watched the news through other media. I would love to stay again!

    Comfortable Stay

    Stayed 3 nights in Kinke. The view of the snow-capped Yatsugatake from the Room was beautiful. The sound of the mountain stream was soothing and relaxing. Conveniently located for sightseeing in Hara Village, Tateshina, and Kobuchizawa.

    A Pleasant Stay at the Snow-Covered Yatsugatake in Shinshu

    Following summer, I wanted to experience the depths of winter in Chino and decided to return. This time, I stayed at Kinke again, and the view of Yatsugatake from the large living room window was breathtaking. Just sitting on the sofa was soothing, and it was a luxury to be able to look at the mountains while doing chores in the kitchen. Waking up with the sunrise over Yatsugatake was also a special moment. We stayed for six nights with our 3-year-old and 1-year-old children, and having access to a washing machine with a drying function was helpful. The south-facing windows allowed clothes to dry in half a day, which was convenient. The winter cold posed no problem thanks to the pellet stove and underfloor heating. The stove's far-infrared effect and warm air were comfortable, requiring no ventilation for peace of mind. The flickering flames were soothing, relaxing both body and mind. With underfloor heating (also available in Japanese-style rooms!) and ceiling fans keeping the entire interior comfortable, plus humidifiers installed so dryness wasn't an issue either. There is also air conditioning in bedrooms so even if children kick off their futons during sleep there's no worry. This time we mainly cooked our meals ourselves; shopping at local supermarkets was enjoyable too. Grilled fish or miso soup made with medicinal broth had special flavors that made everyday menus feel extraordinary as well! Cooking rice using traditional pots or hand-grinding coffee beans along with baking toast using Balmuda oven range added fun memories through little extra efforts put into them all together! On days when we went out all day long enjoying takeout kamameshi for dinner felt great; next time trying delivery service from Property would be interesting too! Breakfasts by "Kamosuya" featuring dishes utilizing koji were gentle while nostalgic miso soup warmed hearts deeply within us all! The flooring is clean enough that walking barefoot feels pleasant; ample play space ensures kids are comfortable too - they liked staying indoors so much they preferred playing inside rather than going outside! There’s heating available inside bathrooms along with underfloor heating present within changing areas ensuring warmth throughout without feeling cold anywhere around here whatsoever... Having two toilets adds convenience overall making things easier altogether indeed... Although roads froze over slopes ahead during mornings/evenings due icy conditions encountered earlier on occasion(s), driving FF vehicles equipped w/studded tires handled everything perfectly fine without any issues arising whatsoever... Local residents spreading salt calcium provided reassurance further still... Prior notice regarding insects meant handling stink bugs gently using tissues avoided unpleasant odors entirely thus preventing confusion altogether instead allowing kids enjoy bug hunting experiences themselves seemingly finding joy discovering how “nature becomes part” daily life itself proving invaluable learning opportunity overall perhaps? Yamaura Stay felt perfect fit families/nature enthusiasts alike given environment conducive safe/comfortable stays depending parental attentiveness ensuring everyone enjoys themselves fully regardless circumstances faced therein ultimately leading satisfaction derived simply relaxing leisurely manner amidst beautiful snowy landscapes surrounding majestic Yatsugatake views experienced firsthand every single day spent here truly unforgettable destination worth visiting repeatedly whenever possible indeed...

    Relaxing in an area reminiscent of the traditional Japanese landscape.

    I enjoyed the greenery and nature that you can't experience in the city. It's a region that truly feels like the original landscape of Japan, where you can experience the sensation of time passing slowly. Unfortunately, there were many clouds, so I couldn't fully enjoy the starry sky, but the sky felt vast, and I was able to leisurely watch the flow of the clouds. Although it's an old folk house, the interior is incredibly clean. The person who welcomed us and the one who prepared our breakfast were very kind, and I felt warm throughout my stay. I definitely want to visit again, I am very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Discovering a Special Everyday Life from Japanese Culture

    I want to experience Japanese culture becoming even more attractive as an extension of daily life. With that in mind, I discovered Yamawura Stay online. Upon looking, I found that they had renovated traditional Japanese folk houses into accommodations and incorporated various activities to enhance the charm of the region. The abundance of unique programs, such as tours exploring the local nature, food culture, craftsmanship, and city walks, was astonishing. I decided immediately that I had to go. I chose to stay at Kinkei, which offers a view of the beautiful Yatsugatake landscape and is filled with a strong yet gentle atmosphere. I arrived a little late, but I was relieved by the very kind reception. They explained in detail how to use the folk house accommodation, how and why Yamawura Stay started, and about the programs, which was truly educational. Kinkei is built using traditional Japanese architectural techniques, and its existence itself holds significant value. The grand wooden pillars and beams, the nail-free joints that speak to the high level of carpentry skills, and the finishing materials made from natural resources were all elements that modern housing should inherit. It's not just about using old things; there are also clever adaptations for modern people accustomed to urban life. They have skillfully incorporated ready-made products like kitchens, sinks, and bathtubs, so there are no issues with cleanliness or usability. With air conditioning, floor heating, and pellet stoves, it can handle both heat and cold. There might be some gaps where insects can enter, but I felt that it nurtures a generous mindset to accept such things as part of interacting with nature. The furniture, like wardrobes, matches well with the folk house, enhancing the atmosphere even more. I thought it was wonderful that many of the drinks, amenities, and kitchenware are related to Nagano Prefecture. Using items connected to local people, craftsmen, and shops adds unique value to this place. I was deeply impressed by the place and space that further highlight the charm of Japanese culture and the interactions with people. Since people from overseas are sensitive to culture, it makes sense that one-third of the guests are from abroad. At the same time, I hope more Japanese people can experience it too. I would like to create another opportunity to visit. Thank you for the special everyday life.
