We had a wonderful stay.
We stayed at TATEGU -YA for two nights. It was spacious and comfortable for two people. The renovation was wonderful, thoughtfully incorporating valuable carvings as well as pillars, doors, and glass windows originally used by the joinery shop into everyday living. Compared to our last visit (three years ago), we felt there were more younger people around town, giving it a lively atmosphere. This is an Accommodation and a town we look forward to visiting again.

Traveling with my daughter’s family
This was a trip with my daughter’s family—six of us in total. We were looking for an Accommodation where we could all enjoy spending time together, so we chose this place. Checking in at the lovely lounge really raised our excitement for the trip. Next door, at a shop called Kano, we bought some aroma oil—the tree-based oil had a wonderful scent! Tateguya was very spacious and even had a swing, which my grandchildren loved and played on nonstop. Unfortunately it rained, but they kindly drove us to the restaurant in the Accommodation’s car, which was a big help. The Japanese restaurant Shifuku was also excellent—delicious food and a great place. However, parts of Tateguya’s layout weren’t suitable for small children: there are areas without stair handrails, and the gaps in the second-floor railing are quite wide. It’s fine for adults, but it felt dangerous for kids—something to be especially careful about when staying with children. The house is so fun for kids with the swing, but overall it seems designed more for adults. Inami town itself is wonderful; if it had been adults only, I would have liked to try some activities there. Toyama Prefecture is fantastic.

We were delighted to hear that you began enjoying your journey from check-in at the lounge, and that you fully enjoyed the “CANO” aroma oils, your meal at “Shunsai Shifuku,” as well as the shops and streetscape of Inami. It is also a heartwarming memory for us that your grandchildren loved the swing at Tateguya. For us, who cherish the concept of a town stay where “the whole town is the stage of a hotel,” it means a great deal to know that you enjoyed meeting local people and exploring shops throughout the town during your stay. On the other hand, thank you for sharing your valuable feedback about feeling uneasy regarding the stairs and open atrium area for small children. As our Accommodation is a renovated property designed with architecture and spatial experience in mind, some elements are intended more for adults; however, we will review our guidance and considerations so that guests can stay with greater peace of mind. Although the weather was unfortunately not ideal this time, Inami in Nanto City offers many opportunities to experience traditional crafts and artisan culture. City-focused travel is the new trend.
We enjoyed a relaxing stay in a Room full of character. We also heard that the other Rooms each have their own unique concept, and we would love to stay again. Although it was introduced as a small town, it had so many charming shops that we couldn’t explore them all in just one night. We happened to choose this place as a stopover on our trip, but next time it will definitely be our destination.

An Accommodation where you can experience the culture of the town of sculpture up close
We stayed at Bed and Craft’s first Accommodation, TATEGU-YA, with dinner and breakfast included. The starry sky visible from the garden was beautiful, and we were able to relax and enjoy a slow-paced stay. For dinner, we had the full-course meal at momi. Every dish was carefully prepared, and we could truly feel the chef’s dedication to food. The smoked dishes using wood shavings from local carving work—unique to this town of sculpture—were wonderfully aromatic, and we were impressed by the variety of ingredients as well. We also enjoyed craft beer, wine, sake, and umeshu paired with the meal. Breakfast featured outstanding freshly baked bread, which paired perfectly with the original coffee and pear juice prepared in our Room. Listening to music in the spacious Room while looking out over the garden made for a wonderfully relaxing morning. There were many highlights throughout each Room—works by local sculptors, ranma transoms crafted by joiners, tools, and more—making it an Accommodation where we could experience the town’s culture firsthand. The staff were also excellent; we felt comfortable from check-in to check-out. If we have another chance, we would love to stay in a different building as well.

An accommodation with a nostalgic atmosphere, combining the tranquility of stone and gentle light.
During a trip to Hokuriku two years ago, I passed through the areas of Nanto City and Tonami City. The charming townscape caught my attention, and upon researching, I discovered that it was possible to stay in traditional houses. Among several attractive accommodations, I chose Roku for its cool stone features, perfect for summer. At the entrance, a wooden door covered with ivy gave me the feeling of stepping into a secret garden. Inside, there were large trees and flowers blooming in summer—particularly beautiful crape myrtles. Walking along the path of tiles and stones led to the room. The living room featured a large stone table; there was also a bedroom with a double bed on the first floor. Upstairs had twin beds and a table set. The spacious kitchen overlooking the garden was stocked with snacks, coffee, beer in the fridge—and more! My favorite part was the stone bath where you could enjoy views of the garden. Although it wasn’t an Onsen bath, I enjoyed soaking multiple times during my stay—it felt like an ideal home for me! Even small details like dishware and amenities were thoughtfully curated. Sipping craft beer from wine glasses while watching movies on a big projector with stereo sound—this kind of luxury is unique to this place. The bedside tables in each room as well as items like toilet paper holders or jewelry boxes incorporated beautiful stones that matched my taste perfectly. Stones not only added elegance but also brought coolness during summer—a calming effect that felt magical. The garden looked especially stunning at sunrise; sitting on its swing with mosquito coils burning nearby made for peaceful moments while dragonflies flew around—signs that autumn wasn’t far despite lingering heat. Meals at Nomi were delicious too! Staying just one night felt insufficient—I’d love to return during another season when flowers bloom or leaves turn vibrant colors—and perhaps bring more people next time! A multiple-night stay would be perfect for remote work while exploring this charming area further. I look forward to visiting again soon—thank you so much!

It could be even better with some improvements.
The Property is a modernized accommodation renovated from a traditional house. The reception front desk is located a bit away from the Property, about a 3-5 minute walk. There are wood carving and craft shops nearby, but the area feels a bit quiet. A drugstore and convenience store are within a 3-minute drive, so it’s not inconvenient. Restaurants, bars, and the bakery that provides the bread for breakfast are also within this range, but it might be helpful if a map with opening hours and holidays was provided. While a general area map is given, it’s a bit disappointing that there are no flyers introducing the workshops of the artisans, especially since the Property features wood carvings and crafts inside. Although there is information on a tablet in the Room, it’s an Android device and not very user-friendly. There is a Room with a projector and portable speakers in a renovated storehouse, allowing guests to enjoy YouTube on a large screen. However, the manual for using the equipment is too simple, and it took some time to figure out how to use it. The stone-built bath has a charming atmosphere, but in winter, the water can get lukewarm unless you fill it with hot water. Adjusting the water temperature and level is done via a remote control panel, but without instructions, it was confusing and somewhat disappointing. Additionally, there was no bucket in the bath, making it seem like it’s only meant for soaking. Since the Room is a renovated traditional house, drafts come in, and in winter, it gets cold in the morning unless the air conditioner is left on all night. For dinner, I had a full course of smoked and creative Italian cuisine at "Nomi," located next to the reception front desk. The seasoning was just right, and the selection of alcohol was satisfying. However, for a full course, it might have been better to have either fish or meat, not both, in terms of portion size. Breakfast was delivered to the Room at the specified time, and it was delicious and appropriately portioned. The Room’s refrigerator was said to have free alcohol, but it only contained one can of local beer and two bottles of juice. If you want to drink more in the Room, it’s better to bring your own. Coffee, tea, smoked chips, and tableware were well-prepared. After checking out around 10 a.m., I wanted to ask the front desk about a nearby delicious trout sushi shop, but no one responded when I called, which was disappointing. I searched online instead. During check-in, I admired the lounge sofa and asked where the furniture was from, but I didn’t get an answer. The Property is said to be designed by a landscape gardener, but perhaps due to the weather, the garden didn’t leave much of an impression. The stone tables and shelves inside looked impressive but felt slightly awkward to use. Still, it was nice to experience something out of the ordinary.

A quiet temple town called Inami
I took a bath while enjoying the beautiful garden with snow-covered trees. It seems it wasn't an Onsen, but there was a faint fragrance. While taking a walk, I saw the snowmelt water flowing vigorously and felt glad to have come in such a good season. With a 2-night stay, you might have some spare time, so I think it would be a good idea to sign up for a workshop. I regret not being able to enjoy the delicious seafood of Toyama.
