  This is my first time posting a Review on IKYU. I felt it should be shared for future guests. I also think IKYU’s management team should visit and check the property on site. Concerns - There are a lot of insects. - As shown in the photos, the reality differs from the images on the website (these were taken with the latest iPhone and still make it look nicer than it actually is). - The water basin in front has not been cleaned at all and has turned a murky, ditch-like color. - You can observe tadpoles in the water basin. - If you try to use the outdoor bath, you will get bitten by mosquitoes in 5+ places within 2–3 minutes. - The indoor sofa (floor chair?) has stains and is quite worn out. - There are some leaks. - Overall, the construction quality is poor, and I am concerned about how it is maintained. - There is no door for the toilet, and there is also no door between it and the bathroom area. In other words, the toilet opens directly to the living room and sleeping area. All sounds carry. Positives - There is a BOSE speaker. It helps mask various noises. - At night you can clearly hear frogs croaking. - You can learn survival skills in an isolated setting. It may suit families who enjoy catching insects. - A unique, out-of-the-ordinary experience. - The neighboring restaurant Tutan has a clean setting, a very stylish atmosphere, and wonderful staff. It’s hard to get a Reservation, but you can enjoy delicious food and natural wine. This one I truly recommend.

  We sincerely apologize that, despite your choosing our Accommodation from among many options, we were unable to provide a stay that met your expectations and caused you discomfort. Thank you also for taking the time to share your honest feedback about your stay. Regarding the water feature you mentioned, at the time we managed it without using chemicals to suppress algae out of consideration for the environment. As a result, algae was more likely to develop during summer and extended rainy periods. We take your comments seriously and have now begun regular algae removal while strengthening our efforts to maintain and manage the scenery. As our Accommodation is located in a nature-rich setting, insects and mosquitoes may appear depending on the season and weather. Even so, we are reviewing and improving our pest-control measures so guests can stay comfortably. We also apologize for the condition of the sofa, Facility issues, and any water leakage. Based on your feedback, we have carried out inspections and repairs and will further reinforce maintenance management across the entire Facility. Regarding the toilet, it was designed with an emphasis on an open resort-villa feel; therefore, there is no door between it and the living/bedroom area or bathroom. We are sorry this did not meet your expectations. We will take your valuable feedback seriously as we continue making improvements to create a more comfortable Accommodation. If you have another opportunity to visit, we would be grateful if you could see these improvements for yourself. Thank you again very much for sharing your valuable feedback.

  Not worth rating.

  I have stayed at many Hotels in the past, but this was the worst whole-house rental Accommodation, with poor management in many areas. Upon entering, there is a water feature, but it looked like a dirty stagnant pond that seemed not to have been cleaned for years, so if you arrive expecting it to match the promotional photos, you will be disappointed. The interior also had a strong musty mold smell—so bad that I considered changing Hotels. The reviews on other sites were also terrible.

  We sincerely apologize that, despite your choosing our Accommodation from among many options, we were unable to provide a stay that met your expectations and caused you discomfort. Regarding the garden water feature in particular, we have maintained it with the concept of harmony with nature; however, it differed from the scenery you had envisioned, and we deeply regret that this resulted in disappointment. For environmental reasons, we have managed the water feature without using chemicals to suppress moss growth. As a result, moss can develop more easily during summer and extended rainy periods. We take your feedback seriously and are working to improve maintenance of the landscape through measures such as regular moss removal. We also apologize for any unpleasant odors inside the room. As it was during Japan’s rainy season with continuous rainfall, humidity may have affected conditions; however, we recognize that we should have provided a comfortable environment regardless. We are reviewing our management methods, including ventilation and dehumidification. We will apply your feedback to our Facility operations and continue making improvements to become an Accommodation where guests can stay more comfortably. If you have an opportunity to visit again someday, we would be grateful for the chance to welcome you in a better environment. Thank you very much for sharing your valuable feedback.
