A Lovely Machiya You’ll Want to Return To
I stayed here with six mom friends.\nIt was a cozy space that preserved the charm of a traditional machiya while offering modern Facility.\nA luxurious catered meal was delivered from nearby, and we were able to enjoy an elegant and fun time.\nThis time we stayed for one night, but everyone agrees that next time we’d like to enjoy a Multiple Night Stay.\nThank you again, and we look forward to staying with you again.

It was wonderful!
We stayed as a group of four women. There were so many Rooms that it felt like we could get lost, and we had fun exploring while taking photos of the furniture, fabrics, and small items by Mina Perhonen, as well as admiring the art scattered throughout. The living-dining area had an earthen floor but was equipped with underfloor heating, making it warm and cozy from the feet up. The kitchen was stocked with Iittala tableware, Cutipol cutlery, and Mina Perhonen placemats and coasters—all beautiful items that made us excited to use them. There was also a built-in water purifier, which saved us the trouble of buying bottled water. The bathroom also had underfloor heating to keep it from feeling chilly. It featured a large hinoki cypress bathtub with two washing areas—a spacious design overall. There was an additional shower room on the second floor along with one sink upstairs and two downstairs—convenient for larger groups to avoid congestion. On the second floor were two twin bedrooms; each included features like small adjoining Rooms or desk corners for a relaxing atmosphere. We didn’t end up using the Japanese-style Room on the first floor during our stay. Everything about this house—from its furnishings to its amenities—was satisfying and made our stay enjoyable. A weeping cherry tree planted in the garden suggests that visiting during cherry blossom season would be lovely too. A supermarket and convenience store are just a short walk away, as is Seimei Shrine—making this location very convenient. Meals are not provided here; for dinner, we ordered Kyoto cuisine delivery from "Matsukume" in Nishijin district. The dishes were exquisite—each one beautifully presented and delicious—and left us deeply impressed! The soup stock-based dishes and clay pot-cooked rice were especially outstanding! They kindly delivered everything smoothly; highly recommended. For breakfast, there’s a famous bakery about five minutes’ walk away in Imadegawa where you can eat in starting at 8 AM—we enjoyed their wide selection of savory breads to sweet pastries which tasted amazing! Overall very satisfied but noted two things that could improve: having plastic wrap available in the kitchen would have been helpful; also providing 2-3 pairs of slip-on sandals near entryway would be nice (there were men’s Birkenstock-like sandals near garden side). Since most wore boots during wintertime stepping out briefly became slightly inconvenient without such options readily accessible indoors!
